Something terrifying is happening in the world of the Clans. Amid the destruction of the forest, cats are disappearing, including ThunderClan's beloved medicine cat apprentice, Leafpaw. Now the young cats who set off on a quest many moons ago have returned with a chilling message: The Clans must move to a new home, or risk extermination.

But it is not easy to convince the cats to leave. Even if all four Clans agreed to travel together, the dangers waiting for them beyond their borders are impossible to predict. More importantly, even the questing cats have no idea where they're supposed to go. What they need is a sign from StarClan . . . but what they need most of all is a plan to save their missing warriors, or risk leaving them behind forever.

This was the 3rd book in the Warriors: The new phophecy and it was an okay read. The clans are put on a test in their trust in the Star Clan. At this moment they rely on it very much, but is the StarClan leaving them behind an being silence? It was heartbreaking to read what is happening to the beloved forest of the cats and humans forcing them to leave the only place they've known, the place where they've been born. But as 1 clan they work together to tackle the difficult journey that lies ahead. Leafpaw and Squirelpaw are one of the cats that are growing and maturing in this book and it's interesting to read on how the relations between the cats are evolving.

*SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE PREVIOUS BOOKS IN THE SERIES*

Squirrelpaw, Brambleclaw, Crowpaw, Stormfur, and Tawnypelt have finally returned from their long journey to find Midnight and a place for their Clans to flee. The twoleg destruction has grown much worse since the 5 cats left. Twoleg monsters have torn up half the forest, and Windclan is on the very brink of starvation, with Thunderclan and Shadowclan not far behind. Riverclan is the only clan that doesn't seem to be suffering, with their handy dandy river full of fish. By the way, Why can't the other Clans bordering the river fish from there too? Doesn't seem fair... Anywayy.

This was another great book in the Warriors series. I didn't really know I could get so interested in a world of cats, but it's so.. suspenseful! :) I love Squirrelpaw and Brambleclaw's sweet little romance too. :)) The book was predictable, but in a way that you know what has to happen, you just don't know when or how it'll happen. Which is fine with mee. The journey to a new home was interesting to read about for me, and seeing the Clan boundaries slowly fade. Can't wait to read the next one. :)

Once again, I wish I had read this series sooner, because I really should be reading something more on my reading level but these books are just too good. I have actually been drawing most of the characters, and it's helped keep me occupied this summer.

It was good! Actually, when I first tried out the Warriors series to see if I liked it, I started with the third series, "Power of Three" and the new forest where book four and beyond is going to take place in is the place that I first "set up" everything in my mind first, so it feels really familiar to me.

I don't see why Squirrelpaw was not made a warrior in this book. She just went on a long and dangerous journey to a place that no cat except them had ever been before, and then she comes allllllllllllll the way back, and she doesn't get her warrior name? A little confusing, especially since she is Firestar's daughter. I loved Crowpaw's new name, though. It was so bittersweet. :(

oh man HERE IT IS

i was a little bit frustrated with midnight because it's a little slow, and straight-up almost disliked moonrise because greystripe's kids are not my favorite and it was slow as all hell, but HERE IT IS. this is one that's seriously heartwrenching because it takes everything you know and throws a bunch of construction equipment at it. also, blackstar is straight-up the best leader shadowclan's ever had and nobody will ever convince me differently. not that the bar is set too high, but still.

this book breaks my heart but like, in a good way. but i mean, when you start with that was kind of a given.

”No matter what the other Clans say; they cannot turn away from the divisions, the differences, the rivalries that bind us. The line that separates us from WindClan or RiverClan is also the line that connects us. StarClan know this, and it is up to us to have faith in that connection.

I didn’t even remember Cody at all after my first read, most of the deaths are pointless or I literally didn’t care about any of said deaths and the journeys are always boring although more happened during it this time I suppose

Let me just say that previously a kit falls down a hole to its instant death and the other cats shrug helplessly and move on, because yes there is nothing they can do, but JFC these books go so hard, Game of Thrones would never (they would, but you know what I mean).

If Moonrise was slow, this book felt slower. The journeys didn't feel as adventurous as in Midnight, and there was much repetitiveness and circularity to the plot points & discussions between the cats. So much of the plot derives from cats deciding that they'll tell CRITICAL information later. This is information that we, as an audience already know or the clues have been placed, so this feels like the authors way of stringing us along to the end of the book. The supposed really important info is revealed to the other cats and it's just underwhelming for the audience.

I probably would have DNF'd if I wasn't planning on reading the rest of the series.

Upon returning to the forest, the cats of the quest to the Sun Drown place now face a new challenge ... to convince their clans that they must leave the forest. The Two Legs are destroying the forest and the clans must work together in order to survive. The cats of the quest have proven it is possible and FireStar understands how urgent the situation is ... but will he be able to convince the leaders of the other clans? Remaining is impossible but the path to new home chosen by StarClan remains unclear and the journey will be very dangerous ... risk is the only certainty regardless of their decision.

Alright, this series was cute and interesting at the start. Had some good characters and character interactions. Unique plot and world building. It was fun. And then this book🙌🙌

Character development. 10.
Plot. 10.
Clan interactions. 10.
World building. Nothing new so I won't rate it.
Makes you want to cry. 10.

I was not expecting to get so attached to a group of imaginary cats after only a few short books. I can't explain how she does it, but Erin Hunter forces you to become invested in the lives of these cats, and to care about all the different ones. This is a brilliant series for younger audiences (my wife read them at 12), but also super readable at any age.

Final rating: 🐀🦅🐈/10

I am at the part of the book where te cats on the journey come back from midnight(the badger). They must convince their leaders to go to the great rock to see star clan. They must do this to save all of the cats in the forest. So i far i think this book is a good book. I think it is because i am currnetly having an read-atthon on talking cats! I think that the warrirors seirs is a great book to start on! I still wonder if they are going to save the cats on the clans...

I loved this book so so so much! But it was so sad because I have loved Greystripe since the first books so it was sad to see him go, but I'm hoping to see him again in another book🤞I also love how in each book in ark two, the point of view changes from one cat to another. But my heart broke into one million pieces when Crowpaw changed his name to Crowfeather in tribute to Feathertail❤

(AKA one of my favorite characters)

This book is definitely one of my favorites is this mini set. The last one was one of my least favorites, so this one was a super welcome break. I preferred reading from Squirrelpaws point of view to Stormfur's, and the plot of this book was much smoother than the last one. I've forgotten a lot about this series, so I'm excited to continue rereading it

I’ll try to be brief with this recap, since I’ve said it before: the ‘Warriors series was recommended to me based on my fondness for K.A. Applegate’s ‘Animorphs series and though I’m now nine entries deep into Erin Hunter’s talking cat books, I do not think the two series are comparable and generally find the ‘Warriors books to be just okay, albeit okay enough to keep me pushing on. Actually, it has been close to half a year since I read the second in the “New Prophecy six-pack, MOONRISE, so I’m not pressing on with any particular haste. That said, it may be that I was just in the right frame of mind (I have been unaccountably weepy lately), but when I began DAWN I found myself excited to be back in this world and with these characters. There were multiple moments that choked me up a little. There is a fair bit of action this go round which I found engaging. And the story moves forward in what I think is a pretty significant way, which is a mark in its favor as opposed to MOONRISE which I criticized for mostly just killing time to stretch “New Prophecy out to six books.

The group of cats from the last couple of books who were sent by StarClan to meet a badger named Midnight, who in turn told them the woods were not long for this world and that all four Clans would have to move away before long, return home at last to find the prophecy already coming to fruition: humans have continued their invasion, and one of their first acts in the book is to destroy the sacred FourTrees site where the Clans met on a monthly basis in peace. The ThunderClan home base was destroyed by fire in the first six-pack of the ‘Warriors series, so perhaps it shouldn’t seem so shocking, but the destruction of this long-standing locale feels momentous. That is, this is not something which can be returned to the status quo in the next book or two: the destruction of the forest is permanent, and the series now has to deal with the fallout from that. That’s an exciting development, in my view.

Before they can convince the Clans that packing up and leaving is their best bet at survival, though, there’s more than one run-in with the humans (aka “Twolegs in the forest cats vernacular, aka “Workfolk in kittypet terms). Leafpaw begins the book having been trapped in a cage along with several other cats both from within the four Clans and without, including a kittypet named Cody, and there’s a simultaneous thread of Leafpaw coming to recognize that the divisions that separated the Clans and outsiders aren’t as important as they once seemed, as well as the thread of wondering how she and the others will escape their predicament. In fact, Leafpaw is not the only one who will reach revelations about the fact that the Clans must work together—must essentially become one Clan—in order to make it through the new reality they find themselves in. It’s a theme I assumed was going to develop from the moment I began the series as it’s been apparent to me for a long time that the Clan system was the cause of strife and could not be maintained, but it’s still nice to see the books beginning to broach the subject directly.

There is a fair bit of death in this book, though unfortunately much as in earlier entries in the series those deaths don’t have much of an emotional impact. Even though Firestar is no longer the protagonist of the series, I do appreciate the view into the strain that being leader, especially during the difficult time the cats are finding themselves navigating, is putting on his psyche. I also appreciate the history being developed through the series. This is something that I had also anticipated from the outset, but which is coming more and more into focus. For instance, kittypet Cody recalls that a cat named Rusty, who was a friend of a friend, left the safety of the Housefolk lairs to become a forest cat. Rusty is in fact the name that Firestar had before he joined ThunderClan. Although Leafpaw knows that her father was once a kittypet, she rarely thinks of it—after all, she was born long after all of that drama had unfolded. She knows him only as leader of ThunderClan; heck, she doesn’t even know Bluestar. And this is only going to continue. With more kits being born, more elder cats dying, and more time passing, before long only the younger generation will remain, and they will have different memories and beliefs than their predecessors. All of this is intriguing and one strength of the series.

Also on the topic of history: the cats in this installment have to trek back over the mountains the smaller group seeking the prophecy had previously traversed. As they reach their physical limits, they are thankfully offered salvation by the Tribe, a group of mountain cats that appeared in the previous book and whom the core group had assisted in defeating a mountain lion dubbed Sharptooth. Feathertail died in the effort. All of this which seemed like so much dawdling last time now gets recast as fate. Were it not for that journey, the four Clans would not have an inkling of where they needed to go. Were it not for that journey, they would not be welcomed and fed and comforted by the Tribe during their travel. Were it not for that journey, were it not for Feathertail’s sacrifice, they would have Sharptooth still to contend with in addition to dive-bombing hawks and weather extremes. While I’m disappointed that the books have made it clear without a doubt that StarClan is real and actively working in the terrestrial Clans favor, as I had previously been excited by the atheistic position espoused by Cloudtail, I nevertheless must acknowledge that putting the last book’s events in this new context does feel rewarding.

Maybe I’m being too easy on this book with the 4-star rating, I don’t know. All I know is I enjoyed this read. Whether I would enjoy it as much on a second read, I can’t say not that I anticipate ever re-reading this book, but what I mean is that well, like I said at the start, there’s a chance this book just happened to get me at a moment when I was particularly receptive to it. Or maybe it really is a step above much of what’s come before. Either way, I am glad to be back to ‘Warriors and I am eager to find out what happens now that they've reached their new home. Because of this, I anticipate picking up with STARLIGHT sooner than later.
