I'm not sure why I can't find an edition with only one of the books - From the Heart. I've read it before and I'm sure it's here somewhere.
I guess I will just have to read the remaining two.
About From the Heart . I just finished The Dead Zone , and I was feeling pretty down, I need a good book with a very happy ending to help me feel better. And was exactly that. I am a sucker for such stories with the most beautiful and perfect endings.
About the second one. A Matter of Choice wasn't as good and end wasn't very satisfying but i still liked it. I loved Jessie, I love to read about charters like hers in books.
A Matter of Choice didn't start very well, but after reading a few chapters and getting to know the characters, I couldn't wait to read what will happen with the characters. I liked the story and the end. The first half of the book showed them as journalist who will do everything to get a story, but the second showed them in different light - as not only journalist but also people, who struggle with some of the news, who feel the pain they are reporting.
I give all 3 of the books 4 stars. Beautiful stories all of them.
This is a collection of three of Roberts' early stories. They were all very sweet, but things about them definitely indicated when they were written. It made some of the stories a little hard to get into. The constant references to smoking, or taking out a cigar, and a typewriter! Other than that little annoyance, they were all really great contemp. romances.
Three men and three women find themselves and each other in the three stories in this Nora Roberts novel. In Tonight and Always, Kasey helps a famous, cocky author with his latest book. She offers advise and a new outlook on his stuffy life. But Jordan wants more. He wants her. In A Matter of Choice, Slade is sent undercover to babysit a judge's spoiled daughter. Jessica has no idea about the smuggling going on in her little antique shop and she had no idea how hard she would fall for Slade. Finally, in Endings and Beginnings, two rival reports clash over the political stories streaming from Washington DC. T.C. is determined to have the beautiful and sophisticated Liv. Liv, however, is comfortable hiding behind walls she had erected. But as a reporter, T.C. knows how to be patient.
The first story about the author and the Native American expert was my favorite. I loved how Kasey and Jordan came together. Kasey was loud and witty where he was more reserved. I liked how Jordan turned out to be more down to Earth than he had first appeared. Their romance was strong and explosive. For some reason the ending has stuck with me. I found myself rereading it. Endings and Beginnings was my second favorite. It wasn't nearly as good as Tonight and Always. It took some time to get started. Liv was very withdrawn and T.C. came across more pompous than any of the other men in the book (however he also turned out to be the biggest softy too!). Liv's story was heartbreaking but opening up to T.C. was courageous and led me to like her more than I had when she was being prude. A Matter of Choice I honestly wasn't too crazy about. Jessica annoyed me. She was a real spaz and when she wasn't she was weak. Slade went from being a tough cop to an aspiring novelist. He was a prick at times too. The smuggler in the antique shop was also pretty obvious. You didn't have to think very hard to figure it out. It wasn't horrible but the other two stories were much better. One of the things that I disliked about this novel was that, especially with A Matter of Choice and Tonight and Always, it appeared as though the author had changed the names and settings of the characters but that was it. Kasey and Jessica were both very energetic (Jessica exceptionally and annoyingly so) while Slade and Jordan were dark, brooding, and writers. Kasey and Jessica's physical descriptions were almost identical. All the men were cocky and sure of themselves. In each story, at least one of the main characters was wealthy. Then one of the main characters disliked the wealth. Kasey didn't like Jordan's wealth, Slade disliked Jessica's wealth, and Liv despised her own. Kasey and Liv had both cut off themselves from their rich backgrounds. Both were also terrified of being hurt by men. Slade and Jordan fought their feelings for the women and didn't admit their love until the very end. Nearly everyone smoked, as more of a nervous habit than anything. There were just so many similarities between the three stories. It would have been nice to have a little variety. Other than that I have no complaints. Nora Roberts is a terrific writer that I have come to admire.
Older NR. She always has great characters, but sometimes the plots are cheesy.
Tonight and Always: Jordan is a great literary writer that needs the help of a researcher, Kasey. He is rich, sedate and controlled. Her father came from the same kind of family, but when her parents were killed when she was 8 she was in a tug of war between his cold sister and her lovely grandpa. Then there's Jordan's daughter, who is in a similiar situation. There is a "kind of" rape scene and she ends up pregnant, which makes the ending formulaic.
A Matter of Choice: Slade is a cop who writes. Jessica is a rich man's daughter who runs an antique shop that is suspected of smuggling. He is put there undercover to protect her. I liked his character...he was mad all the time at falling in love with her, and not ashamed to admit it. She was a little to manic/depressive for me.
Endings and Beginnings: Liv and Thorpe are journalists in Washington, working for the same network but he is the national and she is the local. He's loved her from a far for more than a year, and is pretty determined to marry her. She was married once and it fell apart after her son died, so badly burnt. Some far fetched stuff in this...like a terrorist attack in London where only the bad guys get killed, despite the spraying of machine gun fire.
This is a book featuring three separate stories written by Nora Roberts. The first, is about an anthropologist that falls for an author. The second an antique store owner who falls in love with a cop. The third, two reporters who fall in love with each other. Each has a twisted plot that brings characters together, rips them apart, and finally gives us a happily ever after. I enjoyed the second two stories much more than the first. I believe it was due to the amount of action. The first story was more dialog and character thoughts. However, they can all be safely made into Lifetime movies. Nora Roberts is, without a doubt, a very talented and accurate writer. She can hook and sink a reader with in the first chapter, which is becoming rare in modern books. The only reason I did not give this book a five star rating was because it was very cliche. Predictable from page one and the twists were of no big surprise. Overall, I enjoyed the book as a whole and would recommend it to those who love a good love story and, of course-Nora Roberts.
I enjoyed all three stories. Although some parts were a bit slow, each story was interesting enough to keep my attention until the end. I'm more of a mystery kind of gal, but some good ol' fashioned romance never hurt anyone!
Three of her Silhouette books from the mid-80's combined in one book. It was okay. I noticed how much they smoked. They were formulaic and needed more graphic sex.
I liked all three of the books, but compared to a lot of her books they all seemed to miss a little something in them. They were all great love novels though.
These are all 80s oldies from Nora Roberts, "contemporary" romances but probably would be considered to be different sub-genres.
Tonight and Always Famous hero author asked heroine anthropologist to help with research on his latest book. Hero has a very snotty mother. Feels very Mills &Boon'ish.
A Matter of Choice I realized I've read this before. Hero cop and aspiring author asked by his boss to go undercover guarding his goddaughter who owns an antique shop suspected of being used by a smuggling ring. This is more romantic suspense and to me, the best story out of the 3.
Endings and Beginnings Hero is top journalist whilst heroine is local news anchor. He rides with the President on Air Force One and she on the press plane. There were lots of incidents in this book, with terror acts that strangely mirror current events. But even with all the action, this book felt flat to me.
Overall, what really comes through from these books is the sheer amount of smoking that went on in those days! It seems everyone was smoking on Air Force One, from cigarettes to cigars to pipes!!!!
Tonight and Always: I found this book rather pleasant. The dynamic between Kasey and Jordan was interesting. Neither were looking for romance, but found it anyway. Though it annoyed me that Jordan never really opened up about his feelings for Kasey or for anything really. I was also annoyed at the way Kasey decided to end things. Yeah, Jordan's mom threw a huge ultimatum, but she definitely should have spoken to him before just running off.
A Matter of Choice: Skipped over this one as I have already read it and didn't really enjoy it.
Endings and Beginnings: I couldn't get into this one at all. I felt Thorpe was far too pushy. Rather than give Liv time to sort through her emotions and figure out what she wanted, he pretty demanded that she love him. Anytime Liv would try to push away, Thorpe forced himself onto her. I actually found his actions to be creepy rather than sweet and romantic.
This review is for the last of the 3: “Endings & Beginnings. The other two sections I read years ago and remember enjoying them, but can provide no other review.
This story: Phew. I had to force myself to sit through it. Before reading I strongly suggest you get your mind ready to read from a place 50 years ago where a woman giving every physical indication of a “no and even saying “no still means “yes to men. It was absolutely grotesque. For a romance novel, this was anything but romantic. Horribly misogynistic, dripping with harassment, and sporting them both as if the behavior is appropriate, wanted, and acceptable because it’s what the man wants, and what the man wants, the man gets, and the woman should be honored she’s the target. What a different world.
Love. It is a complicated emotion that acts on its own. It is like a living thing that lives inside each and every one of us. In this book, you will find a man who finds love with the one person he shouldn't; his collaborator. Another is of a sheriff investigating and protecting his commissioner's daughter. In the end, they both fall in love, but will it last. The last story is of two news reporters clashing against each other, but somehow learn more than they should of each other, and fall into complications. This, my friends, is what I call the true beauty and description of what love can do, and how it can be formed.
I'm a huge fan of Nora Roberts. But these three stories were written some years ago and they are written almost like "bodice rippers". He man, who is moody and kind of mean, and, can't seem to take no for an answer. Females who are push overs mostly. Nora's newer books are completely different. That said, I enjoyed the first story okay, "Tonight and Always". But didn't really get into the others because they all are just like the first one. This is the first time I've not given Nora Roberts raves. I would have given this a 2 star, but I did like the first story okay.
Review: I enjoyed this book. It is a 3 book collection from Nora. It includes Tonight and Always, A Matter of Choice, and Endings and Beginnings. These were written in the early 80's and you can tell by the references of pulling out a cigarette or cigar. I did like the storylines. I went back and fourth from physically reading the book to listening to the audio. I did enjoy the narrators of each book. These were really sweet stories but just your typical romance book.
Favorite Quote: “Being loved is easy. It's the loving that's difficult. From Tonight and Always
This was a compilation of three books. I liked the first one, but found it hard to get into the other two. The books are completely unrelated, so I probably should have put it down for longer between the first and second books and put it down again between the second and third. All quick reads, though, so not bad if you have nothing else to read lying around. (But when does that happen?)
2.5 stars Each story was better than the last. For example, the story Tonight and Always ended with a rape which he identified but she didn't see it that way. Weak women. I am annoyed how many smoked.
Endings and Beginnings were my favorite. The first 2 was quite boring and lengthy but im glad the last story is the best. I love how they argued and the man was insufferable LOL i would give this 5 stars if the other 2 is very good but sadly hmm nah
From the Heart: Tonight and Always/A Matter of Choice/Endings and Beginnings . or . From the Heart: Reissues- Silhouette Intimate Moments - 12/ Silhouette Intimate Moments - 49/Silhouette Intimate Moments - 33 all by Nora Roberts
3 histórias com o cunho e essência da Nora Roberts. A base das histórias encontramos em vários outros livros, desde a loja de antiguidades à figura paternal protectora, mas mesmo assim foi uma leitura interessante.
Classic Nora Roberts and one knew, by the 2nd chapter, how the book would end. The between stuff made for a good read though and not 1 serial killer was involved.
Tres libros en uno. Tres historias de amor, muy similares y muy predecibles. Fácil de leer, de esos que no te dejan nada pero sirven para pasar el tiempo.
