Offstage #2

The Piece That Breaks

Rate this book
Logan Ellis is desperately trying to escape the mistakes of her past while starting a new life with her three-year-old daughter, Violet. After going through rehab, maintaining sobriety, and proving to her parents that she’s a different person than she once was, she’s finally standing on her own two feet, and she’s not going to let anything get in the way of that.

Danny Fox has a dark history of his own. Although he is always surrounded by his bandmates or fans, he feels perpetually alone. Searching for a purpose other than the rising fame as the guitarist for his band, A Quiet Peril, he craves someone who sees him as more than the broken and guarded bad boy.

Danny is everything Logan should ignore. But when new beginnings start with a new home across the street from the tattooed rock star who likes to practice half-naked on his front porch, she finds herself being pulled into a world she thought she’d outrun long ago.

No matter the cost, Danny is determined to make Logan his. But when their guards come down and they find solace in one another, they discover more about their pasts, which could inevitably break their worlds apart.

First of all, yes absolutely yes! I loved the first book and I’ve devoured the second one!!
Danny and Logan are such a wholesome couple, I can’t even describe it.

My song choice for this book will be: Skyfall - Adele
This specific line:

🎼 Where you go, I go
What you see, I see
I know I'd never be me
Without the security
Of your loving arms
Keeping me from harm
Put your hand in my hand
And we'll stand

Danny was definitely someone who wasn’t really understood, but with Logan and her little daughter, I feel like he is now complete? If you know what I mean. He overcame his addiction as Logan did!

After I found out, that Nikko was Logan’s abuser (I didn’t expect that one) I was furious and couldn’t believe it. I mean I didn’t like him that much, but I thought maybe he and Nina would end up together. I’m happy that he is in prison :P.

For Avery and Liam my babies!!! I’m so sooo happy that they’ve got their happy ending with their wedding!!
I’m also kind of happy for Danny boy because he finally got his person and will be a (second time) father <3

I need a 3 & 4 BOOK FOR TIC AND LEX 🥹🫶🏻

Danny: “You’re serious? I’m going to be a dad?
Logan: “What made you think you weren’t one already?

This just sums up Danny and Logan and violet

Thank you @thenjgray for the ARC!

Tropes:

 Rockstar romance
 Neighbors to lovers
 Single parent
 He falls first
 Tattooed guitarist/photographer
 Mental health representation
 Dual POV

Danny’s book is finally here and it was as good if not better than I was expecting. It was emotional, heartfelt, sweet, spicy and truthful and it just had me from the very first page. I have always been really interested in Danny from the first moment where he was introduced in The Piece That Fits, so I have been waiting like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning. Danny Fox is everything and more and he might have become one of my top book boyfriends ever.

Danny Fox has been yearning to find a love that’s real for a while now and a person who loves him unconditionally, so when Logan Ellis moves in right across from him and his band with her daughter, he’s immediately intrigued. Logan has been through a lot and is now trying to escape the mistakes of her past with a fresh start along side her 3 year old daughter Violet. She’s chosen to focus on her and her daughter and not so much on other stuff, but when she catches a glimpse of Danny, she’s instantly drawn to him.

The relationship between Danny and Logan was something I have been extremely excited to read about. The chemistry was off the charts with them and the way they could relate to each other was just so fascinating and emotional to read about. I don’t wanna spoil stuff but both characters have gone through similar struggles and I thought it was so beautiful how they accepted and didn’t judge each other at all. It’s almost like they were always meant to be and they both were the missing puzzle pieces in their respective lives to be complete.

The angst was ANGSTING. You could definitely call it a little slow burny, but the angst made up for that totally. I was almost screaming at times for them to just kiss before the angst was making me feel so many emotions. But the wait was so worth it and both the ending and epilogue made me so happy.

I highly recommend this book and the whole series!

I am definitely in my Rockstar Romance Era. I loved this book so much, even more than the first one and I didn't think anything could top Liam.

I still have tears in my eyes from the ending, it was so good.

Stars: 3/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Tropes: single mom; rockstar romance; neighbors
TWs: sexual assault (discussed); substance abuse (discussed); depression; suicide (discussed)

Overview: Danny is a famous rockstar, but all he wants is for someone to love him back for him, not for who he is. After his best friend fell for his sister, he feels like things are changing, and he's being left behind, alone. But then Logan and her 3 year old daughter Violet move in across the street, and he's instantly drawn to her. But Logan has sworn off bad boys, partying, and anything that isn't wholly about her daughter, and proving to her parents she isn't who she used to be.

Review: this was the second book in the offstage series. You can read it as a standalone, but there are some things that will make more sense if you read 1 first. Overall I liked the book for what is was: a fluffy, easy to read romance with a HEA. Yes, it was predictable. Yes, it was insta love. But it was fun and it was cute, and I like watching each member of the band get their own story. Looking forward to seeing who's next!

This book.gah, the emotions!!! I felt as though Danny’s love for Logan was flowing thru the words to my heart. And who cannot love a guy who adores a single mom’s daughter the way Danny loved Violet?!

I loved the way they fought for each other, and didn’t let the others past define them. And the way Logan stood up to her dad had me cheering.

I cannot wait for more books on these characters. This author has a way with words not many are able to pull off. Definitely one of my top reads this year.

5 whole amazing 🌟 this book deserves!! I absolutely love everything about this book, the characters the quotes the story! I cannot even describe how I truly feel. I cried and overall this is one of the best stories ever!! There was some of the most wholesome scenes which made my gut wrench at how heart breaking cuteness was going on. Apparently I love reading about the stories of drug addictions. I have so much empathy for any story I read. It’s so raw and heartbreaking that a substance can ruin lives and reading about it makes me connect to the characters very deeply! Everything always comes back down to the emotional connection I have to a book that’s what truly makes me love and book and let me tell you i have 100000% connected with this story and characters! I love Violet (Logan’s daughter) she was so cute and I love Logan and Danny together. Their story was so pure passionate and just raw love. And what is life without love? Whether it’s platonic or romantic, i believe love keeps us going through friendship, family and relationships. Love is an emotion that i believe becomes unconditional once you love someone there is no going back. I think that’s what scares us most of all. Love isn’t always necessarily happy. It can be passionate and angry and it can be hurtful and the cause of destruction. It’s scary but it’s amazing! These characters have an extraordinary ability to love and respect each other. I’m learning I love rockstar romances apparently. Every single one i’ve read is always a high rating if not a five star! I would recommend this book so much and please beware of sexual assault and substance abuse in the book!
I love this book with everything I have and not completely but at least a little hole from the boys of tommen books were filled with this book. The characters reminded me of the boys of tommen characters which was enough to make me love this book without everything already said! 🥹🥹

Heartfelt and gritty

This book had me all in the feels! Rockstar playboy who found someone who could tame him. I love that Danny and Logan knew their limits with their substance addiction and made sure to not put themselves in situations that could lead to relapse. I also loved how quickly Danny took to Violet! It was beautiful to see not only the relationship with Logan develope, but also his relationship with Violet. Then end of this book had me in tears and was beautifully played out.
Love it! 5/5 stars and 3/5 for spice!

This book was sooo good! Honestly, this whole series impressed me! I actually might have enjoyed this one more than the first. Danny and Logan’s relationship was so adorable. Logan’s daughter, Violet, was such a cute addition to the story and I loved Danny’s relationship with her. I also just loved Logan as an FMC. She was strong and resilient even when her dad was annoying. And then Danny was just perfect in every way. The scene where he played his guitar on stage for her is everything to me. Anyways, these books were way better than I thought they would be. Definitely recommend!

Worth the read

This was a heart grabbing read. Danny and Logan found each other in a time when then needed to heal and knowing that forgiveness, patience and grace is worth it. A love unscathed and unconditional. I am so grateful I read this series.

I am in love with The Piece That Breaks. I absolutely adored what this book told me. Through laughter, anger and tears and so much love. I cannot think of another book I love more than the one I just finished.

Danny and Logan have pasts that are dark but they found the light which led them together and I have never wanted anything more than them together. The single Mum/ rockstar just hit the place in my heart that made me never want to stop reading and for the book to never end. It’s a definite read for everyone honestly.

Logan's dad can kick rocks.

Felt a little rushed, but I still enjoyed them as a couple. Danny made up for some of how he treated his sister, which was NECESSARY after book 1.

"And just like that, the seam of my chest slowly unraveled, freeing a thousand butterflies from their tiny, dark cage."

What a wonderful part 2 to the off-stage series! Buckle up, sit back, and get ready to experience a roller-coaster of emotions.

better than I hoped

After loving the first one so much I had high hopes for this one. I can honestly say that it more than exceeded those hopes. The tears were already flowing during the epilogue but the last line broke the dam for sure ! I have loved watching Danny get his happy ending ! I am so sad that their story has come to an end. N.J. Gray has easily become one of my favorite authors and I will never not recommend her books! She always brings in the twists (that you never see coming), the love , the heartbreak, the angst and ends them all with the perfect ending.

I am SUCH a sucker for rockstar romances and Gray absolutely killed it with this book! It was a mixture of spicy and sweet with a great plot that deep dives into addiction and recovery. The conflicts fit the characters backstories and I appreciated the communication. I absolutely was in my feels during several scenes and will be thinking about this book for a while. BRAVO!👏🏻

She was like the sun, covering me in an addictive warmth, even from a distance, and her smile cast light on my shadows. I just feared that maybe I was her moon and we weren't destined to meet at all.

This is the book two in the Offstage Series. So good!! I loved it as much as the first!

I have been wanting Danny's story since I read about him in The Piece That Fits and it was definitely worth the wait!

Danny is a Rockstar. A very sweet rockstar that just wants someone to chose him and love him unconditionally. We got a bit of his backstory in the first book since he's Avery's brother.
I would definitely recommend reading that one first. It's amazing and this book has major spoilers for the first book!

Logan is a photographer and former addict with the cutest 3 year old daughter, Violet.

Logan and Danny have a bit of a rocky go of it at first but they are absolutely perfect together.

I loved how Danny was with Logan and Violet. Also happy we got to see more of his relationship with his sister, Avery.

This is a sweet, sad at times, spicy, story with a crap ton of heart. I fell in love with these characters during The Piece That Fits and I love them even more with every book that releases. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite series and I can't wait for more.

4.25 ⭐️’s!! I absolutely adore Danny and Logan. Their similar pasts granted them such a strong bond and trust in each other. I also liked how some of their past was connected like the “invisible string theory and that ultimately led them to each other. And, OF COURSE we can’t forget about Danny’s relationship with Violet. I haven’t read many books where children are involved in the relationship so I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel about it, but I LOVED it in this book!! Danny is so sweet and fatherly to Violet and she just adores him from the very beginning! You just know their relationship is gonna be special!

I think I liked this book slightly more than the first one because it seemed like the characters had a deeper connection because they could relate and understand each other whereas, in the first book, it felt like Liam was just helping Avery deal with the trauma from the accident. Don’t get me wrong, Liam and Avery definitely had a strong connection, but this one just felt deeper, more intense for some reason.
