Wine glasses full to the brim.

An angry daughter.

A drop, dead gorgeous mother.

A girlfriend that doesn’t love me anymore.

The longer I sit and think about the three of them, the more confused I’m becoming.

I know I shouldn’t cross the line—it should only be felt, but never seen.

But I’ve spent days, weeks, months, watching her, and she’s been watching me too.

I just didn’t know it until it was too late.

Salace is the type of book you walk away from with so many questions, every question as deafening as the last. So many questions begging for answers because this is truly a mindf*ck. Salace is a collision course with so many red flags along the way but with Yolanda Olsen and K. Larsen in control of your narrative you won't see them until all is said and done. K and Yolanda played off each others strengths with psychological & devious delight. It's incredibly hard to review this book because I don't want to spoil this experience for the next reader. Just go into this book blind and thank me later... Kasey, Aimee and Julia's story is twisted, compulsive and bone chilling. Grab a complimentary glass of red and enjoy the ride. I couldn't put this book down and I'm still thinking about it days after reading and likely will be for a while. If there's ever an incentive for responsible drinking? this book is it! I don't even know what Yerba Mate is but it's on my bad list.

A mindf**king book from the mother of them all - Yolanda Olson. She can totally warp time, if she wanted to. that powerful is her imagination. I honestly believe her mind exists in her own dimension of time, untouched by "Normal" people or thoughts. She creates a simple story of a high school boy, at the peak of his hormones running wild. Kasey isn't short on female attention, but his eyes are firmly stuck on Aimee and her mother Julia Huntington.
Desires take over senses, reality starts to shift and character (s) start to step from one realm to another.
It's all mind games......or IS IT!?
By the end i was confused, was I reading what I was reading or was it purely an upside down truth.
Taut and tense psychological thriller, which kept me racing towards the end then came to a stuttered halt as I found my jaw on the floor!!

Kasey had his eyes on things he shouldn’t have. In pursuing it, he didn’t realize his heart’s discontent could lead him into the fire.

Initially, this book was a little confusing and disjointed. Fortunately, as it progressed, it started to make sense. The ending was not as impactful as I hoped for, but I liked the overall story with the forbidden aspect.

The forbidden fruit always tastes the sweetest.

Salace is a story of ambitions and desires. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a short thriller.

Wow, intense is the first word that comes to mind after reading this book. I’m trying to provide a review without spoilers and it difficult. I know I was drawn into the characters right away. Kasey and Julia’s points of view kept up the mystery but allowed a more introspective view of the characters. Lots of twists and turns in this story, but well worth the read- don’t miss this one!

Can I just start this off by saying Yolanda is a genius? EVERYTHING she touches ends up brilliant.
K Larsen is just as great.

Salace is a short read that packs an absolutely INSANE punch. There's 120 pages of ... chaos and fuckery. You'll love it.

In Salace, we meet a high school boy Kasey. Per usual with high school boys, their hormones are at the peak, right? He has his eyes set out on one girl - Aimee..... well, one girl and one woman. You see, he also has his eyes set on Julia - Aimee's mom.
The absolutely genius part of this book? You'll be questioning what the truth is... what the reality is.... and what exactly you just read.

“Memory is a funny thing. People think their recollection of something is crystal clear, rock solid and accurate, when more often than not, the memory-the recollection-is severely flawed.

This is a dark romance story with no HEA and one of my favorite I’ve read this year. Yoland Olson never disappoint. This story has some trigger and is taboo please check the warnings beforehand.

I far are you willing to go to make your wants and needs a reality? We follow two POV, Kasey (17 year old teenager who’s obsessed with Aimee and have a fantasy of having her and Mrs H), Julia (an alcoholic mom who has it all until her husband left for a younger woman).

These two authors have come together to give us a twisted, mysterious, one of a kind read that I just couldn't put down!

I loved Kasey, he's not had it easy, and the way he clings to his desires in the desperate need to feel loved just had me 🥺

Julia is... Julia 😂 that's all I'm gonna say about her 👀

It's difficult to review this without giving spoilers, so all I'll say is - go in blind, hold on tight, and when you think you're going insane, just trust the process 😂

This is not a love story by any means, but it's full of wholesomeness 😍😂

An age gap unlike any other that you’ve seen before from Yolanda Olson. You should know this story will twist you into multiple places that you’ll feel like you’re going insane. When reading Yolanda’s books, going insane should be a good thing because she’s pulled you into her mind of words. She brings light to books that are known as psychological, where some can straight up confuse you as a reader. She normally has forbidden tropes into her stories, but psychological changes that a small amount. It’ll make your head spin with how deranged Julia’s character is, while you’ll want salvation for Kasey as he goes through Julia’s antics.

Thank you Yolanda for giving me the opportunity to read this an arc.

Yolanda Olson and k. Larsen have co-written one extremely insane mindfuck of a read!
there's not much you can say about this book without giving too much away - but go in blind and be completely consumed with this book.
I still can't get over the ending.

An unnerving look at relationships and desires. It had me hooked from start to finish not knowing where in the hell it was going to end up. Love it!

One thing I love about Yolanda's books is that you never know how the book will end! Absolutely incredible read the twist I did not see coming! The characters were fantastic. I could read about this all day! It's the first time I've read a book that's been co-wrote with k. Larsen, but I will definitely be reading more. I have so much more to say, but I don't want to spoil it 🙈⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3.75

Kasey has his eye on Aimee Huntington, and while he pursues her, he gains the attention of a much more experienced woman. Though Kasey has good intentions, his teenage hormones lead him astray.

“I want to take what I want, be what and who I want, and not give a damn about how that makes anyone else feel. It’s my villain era.

Narrated in dual POV, the characters are in completely different places in their lives, though there is a commonality of rejection. The pacing is swift and sometimes a little jolting as inconsistencies begin to emerge due to the characters interpretations. While I was completely satisfied with the ending, this story could have been a little longer to resolve some of the undeveloped points and to create more tension for the end. I felt for Julia and was rooting for her.

Salace is about overcoming rejection and seeking what you want. This book would appeal to those seeking a taboo read with a dark undertone.

Sweet, sweet Kasey...

Meh, as I said before I just don't think Yolanda Olson books are for me. I do keep trying though. I never hate them but I never love them either.

In true Yolanda fashion things are not as they seem. I actually read this beauty twice to make sure I didn’t miss anything, because it plays with your sense of reality.

Told through alternating POV’s Kasey and Julia walk you through their mutual forbidden desires. She’s the mother of his crush and someone he secretly desires. He’s a high school student with a raging libido. Their tale of mutual infatuation unfolds in layers. Overlapping. Contorting. Distorting what we thing is true.

While I understand the ending, I sure do with we had another chapter or two that showed us what was actually happening, in real time. Maybe a glimpse into things from Aimee’s POV.

This book was a quick read. I read it in less than an hour. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading, but I loved 85% of the book. The confusing part was the different time loops... I didn't know when I was reading something in the past, the present, or... (finally) if it was all Julia's imagination. My jaw dropped a couple of times in the first four chapters; I thought they would have an affair. I haven't read many books like this, so I was excited. But... it was confusing with all the different time warps, and not to mention the last 15% of the book was a big DUD! I expected something else.

Overall, I did like the writing, I also liked the first 50% of the book. The author describes the mind of a teenage boy very well. The only thing I would have wanted is to know how Aimee sees her mother. Yes, she briefly spoke about the situation with Kasey, but since their dynamic is told from Julia's POV, I don't know who's lying about the actual state of their relationship.

The book was entertaining enough, but the ending is sooooo disappointing.

Get ready!!!!

Ever take a stroll down the street, it's nice out, it's quiet, the birds are chirping? But ever so often something interrupts that inner peace you're feeling. A car honking, a couple arguing. But you just stroll along, maybe even hum. Then out of no where chaos ensues. The wind is blowing your hair in your face, it starts to pour, and it's pitch black out.

That was how I felt reading Salace. The story starts slow, giving you hints you don't even know are hints. Leading you gently by your hand making you feel safe and warm. And you're like hmmmm I know it's coming, I know it's coming!!!! And every time I thought it was coming my hand was squeezed, to remind me...I was safe.

Then.....KAPOW!!!!!!

Long time fan of Yolanda but this was my first time reading K. Larsen, disappointment was nowhere to be found. Phenomenal job ladies.

The synopsis doesn't give much away and I like that. But it may not be enough to get someone to want to read this book. I took a chance on it and really liked it. The dark elements that came together by the end we're what made this book stand out.

SPOILER ALERT:
I can see where someone could get slightly confused while reading it though and it jumps between points of view. Stick with it though. It will make sense.

But think about how you may hear someone tell a story in real life and you can be thinking in your head "wait I was there and that's not how that happened". Well maybe you're just remembering things differently than how they happened and the other person is remembering how it actually happened. Or perhaps you're both wrong and some of the details of the story that y'all don't remember are some of the most important details that could change the entire story. Hmmm 🤔

Wow! This book kicked my brain in its rear. A persons mind can definitely be it’s own worst enemy. Not only that but the fact Julia was an alcoholic definitely made it a bit worse when judgement is impaired people can definitely do questionable things. Must have been rough for Julia after her relationship with Aimee’s father was over. To have to drink antipsychotics and go to therapy was hard for Julia and not being consistent with meds is definitely a recipe for disaster. Kasey who wanted to date Aimee definitely got more than he bargained for when he was caught up with Julia . You all definitely have to read this book it will blow your mind in the end.

Ok, I'm not entirely sure how to review this book.

I was really intrigued by some of the reviews I read first. I love a good mind fuck and taboo storyline. It definitely took a strange turn. I had kind of guessed some of what was really going on. But some details are still fuzzy and I'm not sure if the author was intentionally misleading or if it was bad proof reading. Hard to explain without spoiling.

I also despise books that end abruptly, and this ending just really bothered me...and not in a good way. I know what the author tried to do, but it's just not something I enjoy.

Aside from reading the blurb, I went into this blind. This story is told from three points of view, and it took me a couple of chapters to feel the psychological & temporal groove created by the authors. It is one of those mind twist stories that leaves you guessing, and an haunting ending that has me thinking about the story, days after reading it. The authors packed a lot into this quick read. I loved it!

So I love a good obsession and the idea of a cougar is *rawr*, so I knew this was going to be a fun ride, but I wasn't expecting to be thrown through the loop like I had been. I should have expected it with Yolanda, though, after reading another one of her books.

BEFORE YOU DNF it - power through. The first half had me questioning myself 🤣 but trust me when i say it will make sense. The ending I was dropping my jaw.

Expect the unexpected with both these authors.. then with both their amazing off the charts minds put together you get a book that’ll mess with your head in the best possible way.

We get told the story through two points of view- Kasey and Julia. I’m not gonna say anything about the storyline- if you like taboo then read this gem.

Fabulously taboo :)

Without a doubt this was a one sit read and I can’t wait to read more from these two authors.

This was the first book of Yolanda and K. Larsen's that I have read, and I will definitely be checking out more of their books.

This book was really hard for me to judge because the whole time I was going what am I reading right now?!?! I would have given it four stars if the ending hadn't been so rushed. I felt like we needed another chapter from Kasey's point of view.

I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just leave it at that.
