Surprised by Adrian's sudden disappearance, Ria is determined to find him, even if that means she has to trust her brother and go to her father's party. However, soon she realizes that her father, as the president of the newly-founded Element Preservers Organization, plays a big role in the future of not only magic disease carriers, but also everyone with an element. As the secrets surrounding the magic disease and elements are revealed, Ria doesn't know who she can trust. But when an ex-lover turns into an enemy and a tragic accident changes everything, it’s impossible to just run away.
I'm the author of the Element Preservers series, Human, the Tainted Elements series, the Deadly Destiny series, and the Elemental Earths series. Adrian was gone when Ria showed up at his room to give him the good news about staying with him for the summer holidays, she can tell something was wrong and her and Paula and Michael leave the school to find out what happened to him and she can't talk to anyone about it because she thinks her parents and Alan, Adrian's guardian are behind everything that has happen.
With her brother's help she tries to uncover the plans her dad has for the disease carriers because she knows he's lying to the press about the things he is really working on, she knows he hates them and that he was after Adrian together so they can experiment on him once the realized he possesses a sub-element.
She gets a job for Paula and herself so they can find information about their different projects and try to get as much as they can on Disease Carriers so they can keep looking for the cure that will help people like Adrian and Ria.
They will get into a lot of trouble and will have to escape and hide from their own family.
I loved this book and the fact that Ria and Adrian were able to spend more time together, I hope thing get better for the and more serious for those two in the next book, I can't wait to read more.
Unfortunately, the grammatical errors continue, but the story is still interesting...book 1 ends with Adrian disappearing after hearing Ria, Michael, and Paula making plans for the summer. Ria quickly learns that her brother Oliver has Adrian because he has big plans for Ria. Ria also learns that Alan, Adrian's guardian has been working with her father whose goal was to test Adrian to drive him to reveal he has an element or push him to kill for one.
In addition, Michael learns that Ria and Adrian have been together more than once, even though Adrian is known to only sleep with a girl once before walking away from her. This is the last straw for Michael. The timing could not be worse since they are supposed to attend her father's party as a couple. However, Michael being the nice guy that he is, he continues to help Ria and Paula because he believes they need to do something to change what is happening with disease carriers.
At some point, Adrian is re-united with Ria, but is captured by her father and tortured. He also learns about Alan's betrayal at this time. In the meantime, Ria accidentally acquires another element and learns that this can be done if the timing is perfect. In her case, a car accident that resulted in the death of a woman, who was an air element, allowed Ria to claim her element while Ria was touching her at the time of death. This turns out to be a good thing since she will need 3 elements to free Adrian. Although successful, they both nearly die and in the process learn that they can temporarily exchange elements. While in hiding, they learn that Oliver has big plans and wants them to join his group. All go, but Ria because she just doesn't trust her brother.
Now, you start to like Ria better in this book. She still has a lot of growing up to do, but she does start to take more of an interest in other things. However, she is still selfish and self-absorbed so the changes do not happen quickly or dramatically where you think that it is impossible. Even her feelings for Adrian are complicated. I still don't think this series is for everyone, but I still picked up book 3 to continue the saga.
And then the book was finished - lol. I started with that because the story line kept me entertained so much that before I knew it I had arrived at the last page.
This is the second book in the series about the life of a girl where everyone is normally born to the magick of having an element (fire, water, wind, earth). What happens to those born with none? I won't drop any spoilers here, you will have to read it for yourself.
I can definitely see this as making a good series for tv, especially to the reactions of the fellow students, parents etc. etc. Throw in romance, drama and action and you have the audience entertained.
I definitely will be getting the next in this series.
This books takes off after Adrian disappears, Ria does everything she can to find him. Their relationship is confusing after 2 books you still don't know where they stand. Michael and Paula continue to support Ria. Oliver is also playing a big part in the book. Michael needs to grow some balls I wanted to bitch slap some sense in him. He's so nice I don't like him.
This book is the second book in the element preservers series. Adrian disappears and Ria is more than determined to find him. She finds out that her father, plays a huge role I the decision of future magic disease carriers and people with an element. Ria doesn't know who to trust. She just wants t runaway.
I liked this book. It wasn't my favorite but it was good to read. I liked the first one better. This book has mystery, trust, friendships, and more.
I loved this book and the fact that Ria and Adrian were able to spend more time together, I hope thing get better for the and more serious for those two in the next book, I can't wait to read more.
I just read all the book and I found it amazing too, just as the first one and now I can't wait to read the other one because now I know that Alycia's books are really great.. Congratulations to the author who writes such wonderful books.
Ria is one very confusing MC. At times, she is very shallow and self-absorbed. Other times, she is smart, fierce, and a little intimidating. It makes her very difficult to relate to and like. The storyline is totally awesome though. If you can overlook Ria, it is a very entertaining read.
Loved it, i'd say better then book 1, story is really getting interesting. there's more to the brother then meets the eye and the author has done well with the mystery around the brother.
