I had read this about a decade ago and was up for a revisit, since I knew it had sequels that I hadn't got hold of at the time and I wanted to see the whole panorama now. Anyway, I ended up surprised because I remembered the ending slightly differently, thus, it suggests that perhaps I had read the second book.
The novel is a curious mishmash of nearly crude humor, pun, and tons of cultural, historical, literary, mythological (etc.) references and I'm 100% sure that I haven't managed to pick up all of them. The only problem that I had with this book was its misogynistic undertone. Even if it was used only for the sake of humor, I can't appreciate it.
