This boxed set contains three hilarious Stephanie Plum novels from Janet Evanovich: Four to Score, High Five and Hot Six.
Four to Score:
Stephanie Plum, Trenton, New Jersey's favorite pistol-packing, condom-carrying bounty hunter, is back--and on the trail of a revenge-seeking waitress who's skipped bail. With then help of 73-year-old Grandma Mazur, ex-hooker Lula, a transvestite musician named Sally Sweet, and the all-too-hospitable, all-too-sexy Joe Morelli, Stephanie might just catch her woman. Then again, with more mishaps than there are exits on the Jersey Turnpike--including murders, firebombs, and Stephanie's arch-rival bounty hunter chasing after the same fugitive--Stephanie better watch her back big-time if she wants to live to crack this case.
High Five:
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum sets out to find her missing uncle-- and along the way smacks slam-bang into: a dead body, a nasty bookie, her stun-gun-toting grandmother, two very sexy men, an angry little man who won't leave her apartment, and a Mafia wedding. Jersey's favorite bounty hunter has never been better! With high hair, street smarts and plenty of attitude, Steph's sure to nail this case-- or risk life and spandex-clad limb trying...
Hot Six:
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum and Trenton vice cop Joe Morelli join forces to find the madman killer who shot and barbecued the youngest son of international black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos. Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, is caught on video just minutes before the crime occurs. He's the number-one suspect. Ranger is Stephanie's mentor--the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension. And he's more than her friend
Janet Evanovich is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series, the Lizzy and Diesel series, twelve romance novels, the Alexandra Barnaby novels and Trouble Maker graphic novel, and How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author, as well as the Fox and O'Hare series with co-author Lee Goldberg.
The earliest Stephanie Plum books have been, in my opinion, the best that the author has written. So to find them all in one book is quite the thing.
This book has "Four to Score" "High Five" and "Hot Six". This is a great way to add to your collection and to always have three of the best Plums at hand. You can't go wrong with the price since it works out to be less than 3 paperbacks!
I read this years ago but was always a fan of the Stephanie Plum series. It has books 4, 5 & 6.
Four to Score: Stephanie Plum is forced to enlist the help of Grandma Mazur, ex-hooker and wannabe bounty hunter Lula, and transvestite rock musician Sally Sweet in an attempt to capture revenge-seeking waitress Maxine Nowicki. Threatening messages, murder, firebombs, and archnemesis Joyce Barnhardt pale in comparison to the greatest danger of all when, homeless and broke, Stephanie and her hamster, Rex, move in with vice cop Joe Morelli.
High Five: Out of bail skippers and rent money, Stephanie throws caution to the wind and follows in the entrepreneurial bootsteps of Super Bounty Hunter Ranger, engaging in morally correct and marginally legal enterprises. Stephanie's problems escalate when homicidal rapist Benito Ramirez returns, her Uncle Fred disappears, a nasty bookie starts following her around town, and she has nothing to wear to the Mafia wedding.
Hot Six: Stephanie Plum and Trenton vice cop Joe Morelli join forces to find the madman killer who shot and barbecued the youngest son of international black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos. The man wanted for the crime is Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger. Minutes before the crime occurs, Ranger is caught on video, at the scene, with the victim. Bad enough Stephanie has to bring in the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension, now her maternal grandmother has moved in and a dog with an eating disorder has adopted her.
Made it to about 77% of this 3-1- box set, which comes to about a third of the way into book 6. Just couldn't deal anymore. Sure the first couple of books were fun light reads, crude but entertaining.
The problem is that it's all just more of the same. It might be a "series" but really it's just more of the same. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat. No growth, no development of the characters, plot, storyline, relationships, skills, etc. whatsoever. Nearly two years into her bounty hunter gig and she's as bad at it as she was the day she started. Even worse, she seems to be proud of the fact always dropping lines like "I might not be the world's bounty hunter"... understatement of the century... and making zero efforts to improve. Still always forgetting, well simply put, everything... The gags have grown old the jokes beyond stale.
And don't even get me started on the men. By book 3 I was fed up with the song and dance with Morelli, and wouldn't have minded her finally being shot of him then. Well, book 4 obviously went in the other direction, fine, but of course leaving it at that would've been too simple. not enough high school drama. only to move into absolute dealbreaker territory from there... love triangles and cliffys.
once it became clear that book 6 was just gonna be more of the same for possibly the next 20+ books bailing seemed the only sensible option left
I immediately fell for Stephanie Plum ... how can you not! She is a train wreck with plenty of mascara, and a fantastic family! Can't wait for more adventures!
BTW ... I am TOTALLY Team Ranger! Also Lula is AMAZING ... we all need a Lula in our lives! I have decided I want to be adopted by the Plums so I can have a Grama Mazur!
I have read the first 22 as well as the In-Between the Plums stories and I am so ready for the next several!
Loving this series. All of the books are fun reads and even when I can figure out the plot twist long before the end, my love of Grandma Mazur, Morelli, Ranger, Rex, Bob, and Stephanie keep things interesting and entertaining.
As always the cast of characters delivers. The suspense and various twists delight. I'm on my second read of this series and enjoying it just as much as the first! I highly recommend these books to anyone!
Reading 3 books at once was interesting. More action and chases, shooting, death. Action, action, action. Death too, lots. Stephanie bumbling as usual. Her men in a triangle. I'm not sure who I like better though.
I love Janet Evanovich! These Stephanie plum books always catch my attention and are funny and serious at the same time. Just enough suspense to grab you and wanting to read the next book. Lovable characters!
I’ve read all 29 books, so I will only add the review on this one. I love the light, funny reading on these. I always steer back to her books when I need a change of pace. Her writing style is very easy to read. I secretly love Plum’s love triangle but definitely wish Janet would settle her down with Joe Morelli.
And now I've read the next three in this series, and it still captivated me in almost exactly the same ways.
4 is a nice whirlwind heist gone wrong, with nice little shocks of depravity that remind you this world has true bad guys without ever dropping it's humorous tone. There's also plenty more focus on building future stories and more set relationships for the series, something tells me this was around the time Evanovich and her publishers realized the potential and how long it could go for, so seeing the bricks laid out as well as they were really made the world feel more alive than ever.
5 pulls out the stops in cynicism and darker tones, not only having the first book's monster of a villain come back as a cameo, having him drop none of this evil while forcing him to lose his status as main villain, also giving us an even more desperate and gruesome whirlwind story than last time. Out of all three, the fifth book is the one with the tightest finale and certainly the most satisfying out of them too.
6, proves to me that any multiple of three is the weaker ones. Still very interesting, but there's a focus on adding more characters that sound like they were supposed to be introduced earlier and also using character that were introduced earlier while hoping you still remember them. The comedy occasionally misses, but they are still very funny when they hit and they do build the world in some ways the better books can't always grasp. This was the first book where Janet really tried giving us more for Ranger, which is something I'd been waiting for even if I still prefer Morelli. Ranger wasn't anywhere close to my favorite characters because the mysterious angle wore off fast, so bigger chunks like this are great to keep me more invested while also keeping the appeal for those who love it.
These are the definitive way to read the series, one book always leads into another so packs of three sound like the way to satiate the appetite for a while. I look forward to more, but currently I'm full and need a break. Still, I may very well catch up in time for the next installment considering how much fun I'm having.
I always skipped over these books at Barnes & Noble due mainly to their covers; but don't let that stop you. These books are fun, hilarious, and still a mystery. Yeah, some things maybe obvious, but there will be just as much, if not more, that you won't see. Take the time and try these books. If you don't like the first one, than you haven't missed anything, but the series continues to get better with each book. Like I said, I wasn't crazy about the books initially, but when my cousin recommended them, I gave them a try and now I am counting down the days until the next one is out.
I started to read these on a beach trip with my mom since she had read the first 7 and had them with her. I read through all my books so I started on these. They are very easy to read so I went through them very quickly the first 5 or six were not that bad, but after six the writing and story plot is stale and boring to say the least. I have not read a series of books since Sweet Valley High and The Babysitters Club. At least those were still interesting after six. Unfortunately I kept reading them hoping they would get better. After sixteen I stopped, there is no hope for this series or this author. It was nice though to have a book to discuss with my mom, which is why I continued to read them. Even that cannot make me read anymore, they are just too painful to read.
THE EARLY STEPHANIE PLUM NOVELS ARE FUN. SHE DOESN'T HIT HER STRIDE UNTIL A COUPLE IN, AND I GAVE UP BY THE MID-TEENS, BUT FOR A WHILE THERE THEY WERE GRATE. OF COURSE, THEY'RE HUMOROUS MYSTERY WITH A STRONG SIDE OF FOREVER UNRESOLVED ROMANCE, SO IT MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.
OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD I REMEMBER LIKING THE TANA FRENCH BOOKS; SOME EARLY STEPHANIE PLUM WHEN THEY'RE LOLZY AND BEFOAR THEY GET SAMEY AND STUPID;
I love this series of books. Anytime I need a good laugh and/or a light, fun read I pick up one in this series. I used to read on the train on my way to work and whenever I was reading one in this series I got some strange looks as I laughed my ass off. You'll be drawn in by the characters and fall in love with them all.
These books are too easy and too much fun. I started #6 Sunday night and finished last night and still got plenty of sleep. #7-#12 are on the way! Stephanie Plum makes some stupid decisions but she's human and stays that way. I love that she doesn't kiss ass but, on the other hand, she could ask for help just a little more.
I absolutely adore these books. They're fast paced, with interesting plot lines, and are hilarious. Add that with a spunky female lead who blackmails her cousin Vinny into giving her a job as a bounty hunter and the super sexy badass Ranger, also a bounty hunter (who I will always prefer over Morelli) how could you say no?
There are three books in one volume. Four to score, High five, and Hot six. All of them are about a bounty hunter named Stephanie Plum. I really liked them at first but getting towards the end I wondered how much further can they be drug out. These books just were not for me. They did however offer me a couple of laughs. I would recommend these for a day when you have nothing else to do.
If you like a laugh out load book that is easy reading and fun this is the book for you. It is also catagorized as a mystry so it keeps you reading. All of her "Stephanie Plum" books are the same way.
Definitely enjoyed Hot Six the most...Morelli vs Ranger went into high gear and we got everything from Grandma Mazur taking her driving test to chasing a lady down in the park for her dog's poop!
Love this series every time I think Stephanie has got herself trapped she has an escape plan. Think this would be a good TV series but different characters than in the movie "One for the Money".
Just disappointed I can't find Box Sets 3 and 4 on audio CD.
I love Stephanie Plum but she really needs to get over her fear of using a gun, especially considering how many people try to maim or kill her in the series. There were some scenes that made me laugh so hard I cried. I enjoyed this book collection very much.
I really love her books, there were times that I was laughing at loud and times I was actually scared for Stephanie Plum. I love the characters Stephanie Plum, Lula, Ranger Joe Morelli even her mother and grandmother. Her books are really awesome
