Entrega informaci贸n de primera fuente para comprender un poco m谩s la vida y el entorno que rodeaba al mejor presidente que ha tenido Chile, Salvador Allende.
A beautifully written book. A deeply personal recollection of events leading up to coup that ended Allende presidency. I love the intensity of references to Chilean culture and the Spanish language which provides necessary context and emotionality for the storyline. Deeply touched by the struggle of Chilean people and Allende's efforts to make change, and saddened by the challenging political context both at a local and international level. Most of all, deeply inspired by Allende's character - his humanness, courage and integrity to do the right thing but also his undying belief that change is possible despite a hopeless present.
Allende's last words: I will pay for the loyalty of my people with my life. And I say to them that I am confident that the seed which we have sown in the noble conscience of thousands of Chileans cannot be cut down forever. I call on you to have faith. History does not stop because of the existence of repression or crime. This is an impasse that will be crossed. It is possible that we will be crushed, but tomorrow will still belong to the people, it will be for the workers. Humanity advances toward a better life.
