Baine is a mystery even to himself, a man with unexplained abilities and no past, when he awakes he knows only two things; his business is death and business is good.

The delicate balance of his world is shattered as he finds himself a pawn torn between exiled warring archangels on earth fighting for Metatron's Cube, a holy artefact that holds God's secrets of creation. Ancient angelic factions, The Grigori and the 11th Order headed by Lucifer and Gabriel threaten the very existence of our world and Baine soon discovers that he alone is the key. As the centuries pass, Gabriel and Lucifer struggle to maintain their iron willed control over their respective orders whilst attempting to fight against the invading tide of human emotions that threaten their angelic serenity.

Thrust into a war that has raged since the dawn of time, Baine finds himself fighting for his life and his freedom, but he must first understand his past before daring to dream of a future,

As the war rages, carnage ensues and the bodies mount, a dangerous man without emotion or conscience must choose; between wielding the infinite power for his own gain or else finding the humanity within himself to save us all.

After receiving this book directly from the author I delved into it after reading his other novel Fangland, i deduced that matt drabble is a wonderful writer!
Rapture falls will capture your attention with the vivid details and have your emotions on edge as you read further and further into this gripping novel. I've never felt true fear from a novel but this one definitely made me nervous of the dark and anything that happens to go bump in the night. The biblical references threw me off at first and I struggled through the first chapter but the book makes you think, it challenges everything any one has told you about religion and it's a fictional work! If you truly want to have your world rocked by a book then I would highly suggest Matt Drabble's Rapture Falls. My hat is off to you once again Mr Drabble for a unique, gripping, entertaining and believable work of fiction! Cheers!

After downloading a free copy of his second book Fangland and enjoying it greatly, I went back to Amazon and bought this book. Whilst the story was creative and intricate, there was a lot of detail and depth, whilst in itself that is not always a bad thing, because I wouldn't normally read anything that could be described as "fantasy" I did struggle a little. I would totally recommend this book to fans of horror/thriller/action, those are not the genres that I would usually read. Despite this I did finish the book and was engaged with the story and characters, the concepts were very interesting and for a first novel I would say that it was very good, if a little crowded with ideas. I felt that Matt Drabble's second novel "Fangland" showed a big improvement in reducing the amount of ideas and concepts within a book.

Baine is a man without a past, enjoying the proceeds of a career that would horrify anyone with a conscience or the capacity for compassion. Until the archangels decide to manipulate him to bring about the end of days. Without fear or hesitation, Baine takes on Gabriel and Lucifer, determined to be his own man and to win The Game. But the angels are immortal and all powerful. After all, they have had a long time to practice and they use mortals as pawns without care or compunction. Baine's attempts to fight back and win his freedom become painful and seemingly futile and it seems inevitable that he will lose.

This is the second of Mr Drabble's stories I have read and much more of a spiritual journey than "Gated". Baine grows throughout the story to become a man with compassion and the capacity to love. I admire the author's ability to describe this progression from a sociopath to a man who is stronger and braver for the gaining of his humanity.

I have enjoyed this unusual storyline and I have enjoyed the author's ability to lead the reader on a journey with a terribly flawed character who finally earns respect and admiration.

I couldn't really get into this book. An interesting concept but it didn't grip in the same way other books by this author have done.
The numerous typos in the kindle edition made reading difficult as I had to continously backtrack to get the gist of what I was reading. Very disappointing.
