Vash the Stampede carries a gun capable of destroying planets, and yet his credo is "Peace and Love." But Vash never gets much peace with a galaxy of zealots and killers for hire dogging his every step. The freakish Gung Ho Guns are always hot on his boot heels, and a showdown with his brother Knives is a deadly inevitability - if Vash survives! Yasuhiro Nightow's Trigun is an international phenomenon, and the Trigun Maximum Omnibus presents Nightow's signature Trigun series in value-priced editions of nearly 600 story pages!
????? This second omnibus (trimax 4-6) is just as good as the others ! Love that we get so much action that puts the Vash/Wolfwood dynamic in spotlight so much. They are hilarious, touching and I love them to bits. Milly and Meryl are the cutest as always. I guess the action can be confusing for some people but honestly, you just have to pay attention. Which I love, because I can't zone out and fly over the pages so I actually appreciate the full story. Love that there's a canonically trans character ! The vocab is a bit outdated but she's badass and recognised as one of the best fighters in the universe so love that ??
one star off bc I honestly couldn't tell you what the hell happened in volume 5, except that vash was Not Having A Good Time. still loved the art, the vash/wolfwood dynamic (the wolfwood angst is destroying me tho), and the f e a t h e r s biblically accurate vash is something else.
Trigun has always been one of my absolute favourite anime shows, with Wolfwood being my favourite character, so I could not resist picking up this volume. The fact that it was super thick helped as well.
The art is a bit different than the manga, and at times there's so much going on in one page that you can't tell what's going on, especially when two characters were in fighting mode. I think it's been a while since I watched the show, because I remember some things differently... then again, it's not uncommon for the anime to some times deviate from the original source.
One thing's for sure, Knives didn't get as much spotlight in the anime, and his evil nature didn't come off as strongly either. It was chilling to see just how evil he could be.
This was a good read! I'll be going through it again. The great thing about manga is that you always find something new on a second, even third read!
Trigun is a great series whether it's the anime or the manga. In this omnibus we learn more about Vash and Knives' past and learn more about who and what they actually are as well.
Plus the Gung Ho Guns make their appearance and stir up trouble as well.
Another great collection of volumes for fans of Trigun.
So good! Having seen the anime, it was good to get to know the characters more and have more back story. The characters are more fleshed out and man, the feels. Now to just (impatiently) wait for the next volume to come in the mail.
- Trigun is my favorite anime, and I've always wanted to try the manga. Sadly, I was really disappointed.
- The action is really hard to follow. It was hard to figure out what was happening. There was too much on the page.
- The short interruptions from the author were a mess and super annoying.
- Even though I knew the story, it was hard to follow. I couldn't tell what speech bubble went to which character at times. There was too much stuff on the page. It needed to be cleaned up.
- I love that Wolfwood was introduced right away. I can't get enough of him. He is my #1 favorite anime character!
- The anime is WAY better. I won't be continuing the manga, so I'll just go watch my DVDs.
