The Learning Disability Myth

Rate this book
Dr. Robin Pauc is an Assistant Professor at The Carrick Institute at Cape Canaveral.Ìý She specializes in child neurology, including learning disabilities like Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, OCD, Dyspraxia and Tourette's syndrome. At least one child in five experiences some form of learning disability, but, according to Dr. Robin Pauc, learning disabilities as they are understood in society, are culminations of treatable and avoidable symptoms.Ìý She argues that all human babies are born prematurely in that they continue to develop special new brain cells four months after birth.Ìý Every human's development in the womb and particularly in these early stages of life can, therefore, be affected by a developmental delay, which can create challenges during childhood, especially at school.Ìý However, since our brains continue to develop, the symptoms can be treated.Ìý The Learning Disability Myth aims to explain the background to human development and the developmental delay.Ìý It contains Dr. Pauc's advice on how to get the best assessment for your child and an explanation of what the examination should include, the effects—both good and bad—of certai foods on the human brain, exercises and computer programs that can aid in neural development, and case histories of children who have had success with this program.

This book claims to come from a different perspective and it does. Dyslexia, ADHD, etc are symptoms not conditions, thus your solution lies in an underdeveloped brain and if you help it develop then you can solve these issues. It all starts with a good diet free of additives and based on whole foods. From there you figure out what is needed to help your unique child.

Informative enough. A bit of marketing and advertising for the center where Dr. Pauc works, but a lot of useful information.
