الغريب أني أنهيت كل جزء من أجزاء الرواية الخمسة في عشرة أيام بالظبط مع إختلاف معدل القراءة كل مرة و مع أيام التوقف الغير مبررة بسبب من كون الرواية رواية مرهقة في أسلوبها القديم.
أجل الأسلوب القديم هو نقمة هذه الرواية هو نقمة هذه القصة التي تستحق مئات الألوف من النجوم و ليس خمسة نجوم فقط و لكن تم تقديمها بشكل بشع بالنسبة إلي ما وصل إليه الأدب في عصرنا حاليًا.
و لكني لن أتحدث عن هذا الآن ما سأتطرق للحديث عنه هو بعض الشخصيات مرة أخري بعد ان ألقي عليها المزيد من الضوء, لا ليست شخصية تيناردييه فهو دائمًا و أبدًا مخلد التحقير و النذالة و الخسة.
سأبدء بشخصية جان فلجان.
جان مثال للإنسان الذي يقسوا علي نفسه و يعذبها إحساسًا بالذنب ناتج عن صدمة رجوعه للسرقة بعد ما خرج من السجن إنقاذ حياته علي يد مونسينيور بينفيينو.
جان لم يبرر أبدًا كما حدث في الفيلم أفعاله لم يبرر سرقته لم يقل لقد سرقت رغيف من الخبز و ما أحقره من ذنب حقًا، أنا شخصيًا لا أعتبره ذنب و لم يروي جان لأي حد حكايته كاملة فهو لم يخبر ماريوس انه انقذه و لم يخبر أحد انه أنقذ حياة جافيير و لم يخبر أحد انه عاش حياة من التوبة و عمل الخير محاولًا التكفيير عن ذنبه و ما أحقره من ذنب ليضيع المرء 30 سنة أو أكثر من حياته محاولًا التكفيير عنه.
ثاني شخصية ستكون جافيير و الذي يعتبر من أفضل ثلاثة شخصيات في هذه الرواية بالنسبة لي
جافيير يمثل الشخص الذي يعيش حياته كلها مؤمنًا ان هناك لونان فقط أبيض و أسود لا يوجد رمادي لا يوجد درجات من الرمادي في المنتصف و هذا ما تثبته لنا الحياة دائمًا انه غير صحيح و عندما يصدم جافيير بكل الضياء المنبعث من جان فلجان هذا الإشغالي الذي يستحق السجن في نظره دائمًا تبلبل لم يعد يعرف ما الذي ينبغي له أن يفعل لم يعد يؤمن بجميع مبادئه و جميع مسلماته و جميع تابوهاته الضياء المنبعث من جان فلجان و علي غير العادة تسبب في أن يضل جافيير طريقه و لكنه أرشده لطريق آخر و لكن أكان هذا متأخرًا جدًا ؟
أظن ذلك و هذا جعل الحل الوحيد لجافيير هو الإنتحار لقد عاش حياة من الأخلاق و المبادئ لكي يكتشف في النهاية انه كان مخطأ دائمًا فيمكن أن يوجد الجمال في ما كان يظن دائمًا انه قبيح.
الشخصية الثالثة و الأخيرة هي ماريوس
ماريوس يمثل الشاب الذي بدأ حياته بجهل لأنه لم يكن يعرف أفضل من هذا و إجتهد ماريوس لكي يصبح مثقفًا بعد إكتشافه لأبوه البارون بونميرسي و ظن أن الثقافة هي في تمجيد الإمبراطورية و لكن مع أن للإمبراطورية عظمتها و لكنها لها أخطائها أيضًا و الجمهورية هي الهدف الأسمي و عندما أصبح صديقًا لجمعية أصدقاء الألف باء وجد مجموعة كاملة من الشباب الأشد ثقافة منه و الأوسع أفقًا منه و بالتالي كان لابد أن يتسع أفقه أيضًا و يصبح جمهوريًا كنتيجة طبيعية لتطوره و لكن في خلال كل هذا ماريوس شخصية ساذجة جدًا و يمكن أن يعود هذا ايضًا للجو الذي نشأ فيه و بالتالي يمكن لنا أن نفسر كيف يمكن أن يتقبل شخص حقير كتيناردييه لمجرد أنه أنقذ والده و مذكور في وصيته و ينبذ جان فلجان مع أنه عنده كل دليل علي فساد تيناردييه و لكنه لا يملك أي دليل علي فساد جان فلجان.
آخر 35 صفحة من الرواية من أجمل ما قرأت حتي الآن الطريقة التي أنقذ بها تيناردييه جان فلجان بدلًا من أن يدينه و عودة كوزيت و ماريوس ليطلبوا مغفرة جان فلجان لم أحب كثيرًا انه مات قبل ان ينعم ببعض من السعادة التي استحقها عن جدارة و لكن موته بهذه الطريقة كان متوقعًا جدًا فلقد عاش زاهدًا و مات زاهدًا.

I loved the first part with the Les Amis and their revolution, but the last part (the majority of the book) was, in my opinion, not as good as the rest of the book and the other volumes.

اعتدُت ان اُردد هذه الجملة : حينَ وزعت الارزاق منحت لساناً يثرثر و عقلاً لا يُفكر !

Passado pouco mais de um ano esta maravilhosa obra chega ao fim.
Desde o início que as personagens se começam a enraizar em nós, absorvemos parte do carácter de cada uma e tornam-se rapidamente parte da nossa vida. No meio de incríveis descrições de acontecimentos reais e fictícios, Vitor Hugo leva a nossa mente para Paris sem cobrar bilhete.
A história de Mário e Cosetta não seria nada sem João Valjean, nem a de João Valjean sem a história de Cosetta e Mário; de certo modo, cada uma das personagens dá o seu contributo para o desenvolvimento de cada uma das outras, formando-se uma rede de conexões muito bem concebida por Vitor Hugo.
Apesar do passado de João Valjean, é este quem nos toca mais e com quem mais nos sentimos ligados, pela sua forma de ser, agir e pelo seu puro altruísmo, queremos o seu triunfo e o seu bem-estar a qualquer custo. Quanto mais nos aproximamos do final, mais o nosso coração palpita ao ritmo do de João Valjean, porém, enquanto ele se sacrifica, omitindo parte da verdade a Mário, só queremos que ele conte tudo o que se passou e permita a si mesmo viver feliz.
Felizmente, a personagem mais odiada da história é quem possibilita, ainda que sem o saber, que o final se desenrole da maneira que ansiamos, fazendo com que Mário se aperceba do erro que cometeu e o emende.
Quando dizem que a morte nos faz reviver a vida, não mentem, é precisamente isso que acontece quando João Valjean profere as suas últimas palavras a Mário e Cosetta, conseguimos de alguma maneira experienciar a sua vida, mesmo partes que julgávamos ter esquecido, tal como se da nossa se tratasse.

اكثر ما ادهشني في اسلوب هيقو انه يبدأ بوصف مكان الحدث ويسخب في وصفه تاريخيا ومعماريا وبأبطاله القدامى ثم يروي الحدث من زاوية معينة فيها عدة أشخاص مسهبا في وصف أحداثها ومشاعرها و شكلها الدقيق ويكملها، ثم يعيد حكايتها من زاوية اخرى بأشخاص آخرين ثم يربط بين الأشخاص والمكان وهكذا يفك الألغاز بطريقة سلسة بدون تشتيت لذهن القارئ بالرغم من كثرة الشخصيات، لكن هناك دائم شخصيات محورية تدور حولها الحكاية وتنحل الألغاز عندها، جان فالجان فانتين وابنتها كوزيت، تيناردييه وزوجته وأبنائه مفتش الشرطة جافير وأخيرا ماريوس.

لطالما كنت اخد قرائتي عى محمل شخصي، فاحب ، واكره، واسامح، واحاكم، افعل كل هذا، وساستمر في فعله.
ورسالتي هذه المرة لكوزيت
فانعمي بحياتك ايتها الجاحدة، فلعل تيناردييه وزوجته كانا اعلم بطينتك، واتمنى الا تكون نهايتك جيدة، بل وان تكون اسوأ من نهاية ايبونين، رغم ان نهاية ايبونين كان فيها من الشرف ما � تملكين.
اتمنى ان يضيع ذلك الاحمق ماريوس كل اموال جان فالجان، ذلك الملاك الطيب، وبعد ذلك يكتشف ان حبك لم يكن سوى افتتان مؤقت، فيرمي بك للشارع حيث تنتمين.
تحياتي لك عزيزتي كوزيت

بهذه الكلمات البسيطة من خطاب تأبين جان فالجان لنفسه،يمكنك أن ترى أثر الكلمة الطيبة والفعل الطيب....فالشخص الذي وهب هذين الشمعدانين له ،وما قاله له (في الجزء الأول) ...كانت كفيلة بقلب حياة هذا البائس طوال الأجزاء المتلاحقة ..وصولا للخامس.

Such a beautifully sad story that is brought to life by Victor Hugo's poetic narrative, with a sort of romantic mystique that is usually only found in French literature. Jean Valjean wins the heart of the reader without them even realizing it. The plot is a true masterpiece of how different characters eventually connect to tell a story about life, love, duty, and destiny (without leaving out the evils that afflict humankind).

بعد ٧ اشهر اخيرا انتهيت من قراءة اعظم و اجمل رواية في تاريخ كانت بالنسبة لي رفيقة اكثر من كونها كتابا فقد عاشت معي جميع ايامي و كذلك انا عشت معهم جنيع ايامهم منذ ولادة كوزيت الى زواجه منذ سرقة جان فالجان لقطعة رغيف الى موته .

Então, seguindo um dos Desafios Literários desse ano e aproveitando para juntar com outros, resolvi esse mês me desafiar de verdade e ler todos os 5 tomos de "Os Miseráveis" no original em francês. Explico. Um dos desafios era ler um livro grande, outro, ler um clássico do século XIX e outro ler 52 livros no ano (esse é o mais fácil porque todos os outros desafios ajudam rsrsrs). Fiquei pensando: que clássico do século XIX pode realmente ser considerado um livro grande? Juntando os 5 tomos (que muitas vezes vem distribuídos em 2 volumes físicos), "Os Miseráveis" é uma obra que soma aproximadamente umas mil páginas, o que, convenhamos, é um livro grande independentemente do quanto você está acostumado a ler, logo ele pode ser classificado como grande sempre.
Então mergulhei numa saga que eu já esperava que me tomaria o mês inteiro, inclusive por boa parte do caminho eu fiquei muito preocupada em não conseguir ler tudo dentro do prazo que estipulei para mim mesma. Porque ler os miseráveis é uma Experiência com "e" maiúsculo.
"Os Miseráveis" não é apenas uma obra icônica de um autor icônico, não é apenas uma história que virou musical e filme e que absolutamente todo o mundo conhece pelo menos um pouco dela (aliás, nem sei porque coloquei o "spoiler free" lá em cima...), não é apenas uma história que faz parte do imaginário coletivo ocidental, "Os Miseráveis" é um tratado sobre a humanidade, e mais especificamente um tratado sobre a história da França e de Paris.
Dito isso vamos ao que interessa. "Os Miseráveis" apesar do apelo dos musicais e filmes definitivamente não é uma leitura tranquila, e nem é um tipo de livro que agrade a maior parte dos leitores atuais. É um livro difícil e por diversos (e longos) momentos é muito chato. O autor resolveu fazer uma obra que não dá para classificar: é romance? é tratado filosófico? é livro de história? É tudo isso junto e misturado. Misturado no sentido de que ele pula de um tema para o outro quase que a seu bel prazer. E eu digo "quase" porque as interrupções na história dos personagens que todos amam e conhecem acontecem quase sempre de forma intencional, visando sempre um melhor entendimento do leitor do contexto em que as coisas estão acontecendo. Claro que no meio do caminho tem algumas interrupções que poderiam ser completamente suprimidas que não fariam a menor falta (tipo a história do sistema de esgotos de Paris ou como o local da batalha de Waterloo ficou mais de 30 anos depois da batalha).
Por conta disso tudo, é um livro que me deixou dividida. Eu entendo e consigo apreciar a genialidade do autor e da obra, mas por diversos momentos fiquei irritada e fiz uma leitura dinâmica do texto porque não aguentava mais algumas passagens. Fora alguns momentos (compreensíveis por conta da época em que foi escrito) de puro machismo em que precisei respirar muito fundo para continuar lendo.
Então, para quem quiser passar por essa Experiência, segue uma concisa descrição dos tomos para uma preparação psicológica: ATENÇÃO, SPOILER A FRENTE (para aqueles que conseguiram nunca ouvir falar da história)
O Tomo 1 se chama "Fantine", mas é necessário muita paciência para esperar ela aparecer na história, porque conta basicamente sobre como o Jean Valjean (precisa de paciência para esperar ele aparecer também, ele só surge depois de um quinto do livro) se tornou quem ele é, e só depois toda a história da Fantine. Pelo menos a história dela é contada toda nesse tomo. O Tomo 2 se chama "Cosette", e adivinha, conta a história dela, mas antes conta toda a história do Sr. Thénardier, com direito a uma descrição completa e detalhada da batalha de Waterloo. Mas não se preocupe, isso faz sentido e é parcialmente relevante para a história lááááááá na frente, e esse tomo vai até o resgate da Cosette e como ela e Jean Valjean se instalam em Paris. O Tomo 3 se chama "Marius" e conta toooooooda a história desse personagem, começando pelo avô e pelo pai dele, e depois a sua infância, depois juventude e como ele resolve ser independente, e, claro, como ele "conhece" a Cosette, mas precisa de uma certa paciência porque antes de contar a história de Marius, existe toda uma explicação detalhada sobre a alma de Paris, para o leitor entender o contexto histórico da trama que vai se desenvolver nos tomos seguintes. O Tomo 4 se chama "Idílio da Rua Plumet e epopeia da Rua Saint-Denis", ele descreve como Cosette e Marius finalmente se conhecem e depois como Paris entra em polvorosa com as barricadas do motim de 1832, com direito a divagações filosóficas sobre as diversas vertentes políticas existentes na época e sobre as questões morais que alguém numa barricada precisa encarar. Finalmente o Tomo 5, que se chama "Jean Valjean", trata sobre como Marius e Jean Valjean conseguem se safar das barricadas e como o livro chega no seu desfecho, com o casamento de Marius e Cosette e o triste fim do personagem título. No meio do caminho tem mais questões filosóficas e uma descrição detalhada da história dos sistemas de esgoto de Paris (se esse livro tivesse sido publicado na época do Tolkien certamente teria um mapa).
Então, se você quiser a versão resumida da história, basta ver uma das montagens do musical ou um dos filmes, que você não vai perder quase nada da trama (que perde sim alguns detalhes para simplificar a história e caber em um espetáculo/filme de 3h), mas vai perder todo o resto e o prazer de ler a prosa de Victor Hugo.
Nota 9, porque apesar da genialidade e grandeza da obra, ela não consegue não ser chata em alguns momentos, me fazendo uma pessoa extremamente feliz por ter conseguido sobreviver à sua leitura.

Serinin son kitabı. Müthiş bir roman. Çok uzun, evet. Yalnız bitirdiğinizde hem bir tarih kitabı bitirmiş oluyorsunuz hem de bir roman. Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim.

it is done. les mis beendet. also. mir hat es gut gefallen. ich mochte den schreibstil, der hat etwas sehr wohlig warmes, sicheres, geborgenes an sich. und etwas zeitloses. ich bin etwas arg müde, daher halte ich mich kurz: ich bin sehr froh, es gelesen zu haben, auch wenn ich aktuell noch nicht weiß, was dieses buch für mich bedeutet. es hat mich beeindruckt. und ich bin gespannt, welche spuren es in mir hinterlassen wird. zum vergleich musical - buch kurz: ich liebe eponine und sie kommt im buch nicht so schön hervor wie im musical, meiner meinung nach. außerdem liebe ich die tragik bei marius/eponine/cosette einfach zu sehr. aber das buch hat mir cosette und marius als paar näher gebracht, so yay! :D ach, ich mag das buch.

اذا كان يمكنني ان اقول شيئا في هذه الرواية فاني اظلمها هذا ابجزء جميل جدا وفيه تصل النهايات الى ذروتها كل اتنهى دوره وفيها من الحزن الشي الكثير مقارنة بالفرح القليل والنهاية الحزينة جدا ..
ربما اعود لاضيف شيئا .. لست مستعده بعد لبعثرة فرحة انهائهها المساوي للحزن العميق التي تركته داخلي كغجوة ..

Was kann man noch sagen über ein dermaßen episches Werk, was nicht schon längst gesagt worden ist?
Die erste Hälfte hat den wilden Ritt des vierten Bandes fortgesetzt und einen wieder mitten ins Geschehen geworfen, rein an die Barrikaden, mitten in die Revolution. Dann sterben leider 50% der Protagonisten ziemlich schlagartig und grässlich und dann ... stoppt der wilde Ritt ziemlich abrupt, da die paar Lebenden dann entweder schwer verletzt oder völlig traumatisiert sind.
Die zweite Hälfte war das erste Mal, dass ich etwas von Hugo als "zäh" empfunden habe, aber ich glaube, das war vor allem der Kontrast. In Band 3 und 4 und in der ersten Hälfte von Band 5 passiert SO viel und so schnell und man kann gar nicht genug atmen vor lauter Luft holen. Und dann verlangsamt sich das Pacing so abrupt, dass es nun ja, fast zum Stehen kommt. Erst die lange Rekonvaslenz von Marius - die sehr schöne Aussöhnung mit seinem Großvater und dann die lange, ausgiebige Beschreibung von Marius und Cosettes Verlobung und den Hochzeitsvorbereitungen.
Nicht, dass ich den beiden das nicht von Herzen gegönnt habe!
Aber dadurch, dass das Thema des Buches eigentlich durchweg eine Sozialkritik war, ein bitteres Anprangern eines ungerechten Systems, dass Menschen aussaugt und ausblutet und das Schlechteste aus ihnen herausholt, wie ELEND es die Menschen macht und wie sehr es sie erniedrigt, und wie verzweifelt, schmutzig und hoffnungslos der tägliche Überlebenskampf der untersten der Unteren ist ... da fühlte sich das Schwelgen in Cosettes Aussteuer, ihrem Kleid, Marius Titel, das schwelgerische Fest, die Kutschfahrt, die Familiendinner etc etc irgendwie ... na ja, schal und unpassend an.
In gewisser Weise sind am Ende alle "Elenden" tot und Marius und Cosette finden sich reich und glücklich zusammen wieder und das fühlt sich ein bisschen an wie "am Thema vorbei". (Da muss ich tatsächlich den 2012 Film loben, wo die Hochzeit wirklich nur sehr kurz abgehandelt wird und der damit endet, dass alle sich im "Afterlife" an der Barrikade wiedersehen.)
Auch dass Gavroche, Eponine, Enjolras, Mabeuf, Courfeyrac und all die anderen die man so lange begleitet hat, mit denen man gelitten und gelacht und geliebt und mitgefiebert hat, plötzlich tot und ausgelöscht sind, und es so gar keinen Eindruck hinterlässt, dass sie verwehen wie Fußspuren im Sand, das fühlt sich schmerzhaft und ungerecht an.
Natürlich gibt es noch die dramatische Auflösung über Jean Valjeans wahre Identität und sein Endkonflikt mit Marius hat mir wieder sehr gut gefallen.
Der schönste Part war allerdings, dass ausgerechnet Thénardier (der Schlimmste Charakter unter einem Berg an schlimmen Charakteren), dass es ausgerechnet dieser amoralische Dieb, Gauner, Mörder, Betrüger, Kinderschänder ist, der am Ende Zeugnis ablegen kann über Valjeans wahre Natur. Dass ausgerechnet Thénardier der Zeuge ist, der die ganze Handlung begleitet und der als einziger fast alles weiß und auch weiß, wer Valjean wirklich ist, der das Geheimnis von M. Madeleine kennt und weiß was mit Javert geschah.
Das kam so unerwartet für mich und war deswegen umso genialer und eindrücklicher.
Wieso immer noch vier Sterne, obwohl ich am Ende so viel auszusetzen hatte?
Eben weil ich so viel auszusetzen hatte. Weil das Buch es geschafft hat dass mir all seine vielen Charaktere so ans Herz gewachsen sind, dass ich wirklich getrauert habe um ihren Tod, dass ich wirklich verärgert war über das Verblassen ihrer Spuren, dass es das Buch geschafft hat für eine Plakette in meinem Herzen zu errichten, auf der steht "Hier ruhen die Elenden".
Kudos M. Hugo. Kudos für dieses epische Meisterwerk.

The fight in the barricades keep going, now without food or alcohol, the latest by Enjolras orders, as he doesnt want the men to get drunk. Fair enough.
Althought they know they are gonna die, no one wanna leave. Thanks at the end to Valjean, family men go back home. Good job.
Marius doesnt notice Valjean, althought Javert does while tied up to a pole. Tatatataaaan.
Lot of drama at dawn in battle. They are outnumbered.
On the other side, Colette is missing Marius. So sweet.
While Gavroche dies, his 2 brothers are wondering in hunger. Again.
Back to war, Valjean managed to free Javert.
The battle ends with 2 survivors: Valjean carrying Marius, who collapsed by small wounds.
Darkness, hunger and thirst does not make Valjean stop, he kept moving with Marius on his back, through all the sewer.
While Valjean thinks that he might not be able to survive, he find Thenadier, a thief, who handle him a key thinking that he is a runaway killer for exchange of money. When finally he is out, Javert is ready to arrest him, although he help him to take Marius to his grandfather first.
Once they arrived to Gillenormand house, everyone thinks Marius is dead. Although when he open his eyes, his grandfather is shocked.
Javert wants to take Valjean, he ask another favor, to say goodbye to Cosette, when he arrive to see her, he notice that Javert is gone.
And now Javert is in doubt. Decides to change some rules for the people in jail. And then... wait what?! did Hugo make him kill himself? im in OH...
When Marius finally is out of danger, he also our of political ideas and he is in good terms with his grandfather.
Cosette visits Marius, both are so in love. Grandpa accept the match, as well as Valjean.
Gillenormand and Valjean are seeing the details for the wedding, and the moment of revelation for Cosette comes into scene: Valjean isnt her father. Cosette looks inmune to that, SHE IS GETTING MARRIED.
Marius doesnt recognise Valjean as the man who saved him, but see Valjean and remember how he killed the policeman, although Valjean didnt kill Javert.
Finally, wedding day and Valjean pretends an accident so he doesnt sign the papers.
Honesty time take place on Valjean. And he confessed to Marius, everything. Marius said he might be able to help so Valjean can live with them without being an outcast.
But then, he changed his mind, Marius hates Valjean, not only for "shooting a policeman", but also because he suspects Valjean killed a busines man to take his money.
Day by day gets colder when Valjean visits Cosette. And when he stops, Marius (after making Valjean not welcome) lied saying he is travelling.
When Valjean surrender to life without Cosette, write a letter to her explaining from where it comes the money.
Thenardier comes to visit Marius and brings hot gossip, who is really his father in law. And details of Valjean being the busines man and who saved Marius life.
Marius and Cosette arrived on time to hear Valjeans last words.
Btw, Thernadier ends trafficking slaves.

Cette lecture de la série des cinq tomes des Misérables m'a pris du temps, je n'ai jamais été une grande fan des passages extrêmement descriptifs et un peu longs et il y en a bien sûr beaucoup chez Hugo. Cependant, l'écriture est très belle, certains passages sont magnifiques, les personnages masculins sont très bien écrits, toujours cohérents, ce à quoi je suis attachée.
Les personnages féminins sont majoritairement absents et donc la seule femme vraiment présente de ce tome, Cosette, paraît caricaturale de la jeune fille/femme qui ne sait et connait rien, qui trouve toute sa raison de vivre dans son amour, qui ne voit pas ce qui se passe autour d'elle, qui est là pour être belle et démontrer par ricochet, l'épaisseur d'un homme, ici Jean Valjean, là Marius. D'ailleurs quand Jean Valjean révèle enfin son grand secret, il le dit à Marius, pas à Cosette, puisqu'il ne faut pas perturber la belle enfant et puis c'est à son mari de décider du destin de celui qu'elle croit encore son père.
La toute dernière partie du livre n'est clairement pas faite pour être lue avec des yeux de 2024 puisque nous aurions vite fait de tout pardonner à Jean Valjean qui a vécu une vie de bien après ces méfaits de jeunesse. C'est aussi très dramatique de le faire dépérir aussi rapidement par manque de Cosette mais ça fait partie du côté romanesque de ce personnage. Je suis contente d'avoir lu ce très grand classique, pour la découverte de Jean Valjean, un très beau personnage et pour la beauté de la langue, majoritairement.
Les personnages féminins sont majoritairement absents et donc la seule femme vraiment présente de ce tome, Cosette, paraît caricaturale de la jeune fille/femme qui ne sait et connait rien, qui trouve toute sa raison de vivre dans son amour, qui ne voit pas ce qui se passe autour d'elle, qui est là pour être belle et démontrer par ricochet, l'épaisseur d'un homme, ici Jean Valjean, là Marius. D'ailleurs quand Jean Valjean révèle enfin son grand secret, il le dit à Marius, pas à Cosette, puisqu'il ne faut pas perturber la belle enfant et puis c'est à son mari de décider du destin de celui qu'elle croit encore son père.
La toute dernière partie du livre n'est clairement pas faite pour être lue avec des yeux de 2024 puisque nous aurions vite fait de tout pardonner à Jean Valjean qui a vécu une vie de bien après ces méfaits de jeunesse. C'est aussi très dramatique de le faire dépérir aussi rapidement par manque de Cosette mais ça fait partie du côté romanesque de ce personnage. Je suis contente d'avoir lu ce très grand classique, pour la découverte de Jean Valjean, un très beau personnage et pour la beauté de la langue, majoritairement.

"The War Between Four Walls"
This one gets pretty gruesome, and there is a lot of dark humor.
Basically everyone at this knows they're going to die, and they don't care that much. Actually they have to try to convince the people who are dads among them to leave.
Marius notices Cosette's dad suddenly shows up and it doesn't occur to him to talk to him at all, even after he uses his spider-man skills to defend the barricade. Marius also recognizes the prisoner as his detective-buddy for the first time, just as the guy is being executed...
Also the Thenardier kids make another appearance; following in their big brother's footsteps.
"The Intestine of the Leviathan"
The most interesting part of this book was how he talks about something we look at as useless should be a resource/commodity. There is a lot of descriptions and history, including this one guy who decided to clear out the sewers of Paris in Napoleon's time. I can't figure out if he was successful or not: apparently he started the job, but it wasn't completely renovated until years later (which I bet is supposed to be symbolic of the revolution).
"Mud in the Soul"
This one follows Valjean, Thenardier, and Javert as they play cat and mouse with each other through the sewers of Paris. I thought it was suprising Javert isn't actually going after Valjean:he's still trying to round up the ringleaders of that crime organization the Patron-Minette (of which Thenardier seems to be an unofficial member). Javert is back in sass-mode, which seems weird considering he was pretty torn up watching all those people die.
Thenardier rescues Valjean for the express purpose of using him as a scapegoat. He directs Valjean to where Javert lays in waiting.
Javert helps Valjean get Marius to his grandpa's house with the understanding that V will surrender himself to the authorities. Then allows Valjean to say goodbye to Cosette. Javert is not above negotiating with criminals or giving concessions; we've seen this in his interactions with the Patron-Minette. But when when Valjean comes back out of his house, Javert is gone.
"Javert Derailed"
I feel like this book should be the sister to The Champmanthieu Affair. Unfortunately it's not nearly as well written as that one (IMHO). My opinion might partly be due to the fact that the book is so short compared to Champmathieu. It's mostly what's going on inside Javert's head; which at this point is like a bag of cats.
There is a HUUUUGGE discrepancy between the way Victor describes this character and the things we see him do and think as an entity separate from the narrator...and that's really getting annoying.
Javert writes a letter calling out the corruption within the prison system. He's very detailed and talks about specific people within the system, and specific practices that are right or wrong. This guy is not as simple or as stupid as Victor is pretending he is. Javert ALWAYS saw corruption, he just ignored it. He always knew, in his heart, that people are multi-faceted it was just a lot easier for him as a police officer to pretend that they aren't.

"Grandson and Grandfather"
Marius is the Bella Swan of Les Miserables. I can't completely discredit him because he represents a very interesting (and troubling) fantasy. Unlike most of the characters in this book, Marius is not an 'Unfortunate'. Un-fortunately (pun intended) he likes to pretend that he is. And that makes it really hard to take him seriously.
He's still pissed at his grandpa because they don't agree politically, and his grandpa's all like "You're here trying to pick a fight, I'm just happy you're alive."
Marius' reconciliation with his grandpa is based soley on the fact that grandpa will allow him to marry Cosette, which is disappointing. Also disappointing is that Marius thinks of the lives (and deaths) of his friends with a dreamlike indifference. And refuses to confront M. Fauchelevant about his role at the barricade.
The thought has occurred to me before, but it's becoming glaringly obvious this whole story is Victor Hugo's toybox. I that's not necessarily a horrible thing, particularly because he's clearly working though some of his own personal issues, but it is inherently self-indulgent. You kind of have to take some of the things he says with a grain of salt.
"The Sleepless Night"
The wedding day comes. M. Fachelevent feigns an injury so he doesn't have to commit perjury at the wedding. On the way there, they pass a Mardi Gras Festival where Thenardier and his daughter Azelma are.
M. and Mme. Pontemercy don't sleep that night (guess why?)
M Fachelevent doesn't sleep either because he's too busy crying alone in Cosette's old room.
"The Last Draft from the Cup"
Jean is so good and giving, it's easy to forget that Jean is not at peace with himself. In some ways, a lot of the good he does is a distraction from him dealing with a lot of his personal issues. Now the distraction is gone, and Jean realizes how much he really doesn't like himself and how much he really doesn't feel comfortable in Cosette's world.
He tells Marius the truth, but he's not upfront about it. As a result, Marius gets the idea that Jean entered the barricade with the intent to kill Javert.
There's this funny scene where Marius and Jean are arguing and Cosette walks in being all princessly and they're all "We don't have time for your crap right now, Cosette!"
"Fading Away of the Twilight"
Slowly "Monsieur Jean" becomes less and less a part of Cosette's life. Cosette calls him out on this at first, but gradually they just start growing apart. Jean has never been the best at communicating.
Marius tries to financially cut himself off from Jean as well.
"Supreme Shadow, Supreme Dawn
Thenardir tries to blackmail Marius and it doesn't work. Marius gives him money anyway so he can go to south america and sell slaves.
Cosette and her dad are reunited. Jean starves himself to death.
I'm not gonna lie, I was hoping that Marius would have some sort of personal epiphany and he doesn't. There's no passing of the torch moment. The flame dies with Jean, I think that's the most disappointing thing in this series.

لا يمكن للمرء أن يخرج من البؤساء كما دخلها؛ فهي ليست مجرّد كتاب يُقرأ، بل تجربة إنسانية متكاملة تضع القارئ أمام أعمق مشاعر الرحمة والعدالة، الحب والتضحية، الظلم والخلاص. فيكتور هيوغو لم يكتب قصّة فحسب، بل رسم حياة تنبض بين الصفحات، وجعلنا شهودًا على مصائر أبطاله التي تتقاطع مع التاريخ الفرنسي بروح ملحمية لا تُنسى. وفي نهايتها، لا يملك القارئ سوى أن يُسلّم بروعة هذا العمل الأدبي الخالد، الذي لم يفقد بريقه رغم مرور الزمن، بل يظلّ، حتّى اليوم، مرجعًا أدبيًا وإنسانيًا يتجاوز حدوده الزمنية والمكانية.

جان فالجان، الرجل الذي لامس أرواحنا بنبله وإنسانيته، كان انعكاسًا للرحمة التي جسّدها الأسقف ميريل. كان الأسقف هو اليد التي انتشلته من ظلمة القهر إلى نور الرحمة. لم تكن هدية الأسقف لجان فلجان شمعدانين من فضة وحسب، بل كانت وعدًا بالخلاص، وشرارةً أيقظت في روحه إنسانًا ظلّ حبيس الظلم لسنوات. كنت أعيش معه رحلته الطويلة، أشعر بثقله، بآلامه، بإنسانيته العظيمة، وأتعجب كيف يمكن لرجل قاسى كل هذا الظلم أن يبقى نقيًا، أن يبقى عظيمًا.

Bon, après 5 tomes et 2000 pages, il est temps de faire le point sur ce livre. D'abord, c'est un chef d'oeuvre, il faut le dire. Victor Hugo, pour moi, c'est avant tout un poète. Et on ne peut qu'admirer le style et le niveau d'écriture dans ce roman. La construction est similaire à Notre Dame de Paris avec des chapitres d'analyse (qui sont parfois très pertinents encore aujourd'hui, parfois franchement longs) et des chapitres "d'action". Je trouve la structure narrative beaucoup plus aboutie que dans NDP. Les personnages sont un peu plus travaillées, il y a une réelle histoire avec des moments de suspense.
Mais bon il faut aussi dire que Victor Hugo est, encore une fois, avant tout un poète... Ce roman est HYPER long par moments, surtout les passages hyper détaillés sur Paris (moi qui ne connait pas bien cette ville, je me suis perdue à chaque chapitre...), les psychologie des personnages et la crédibilité de l'histoire ne sont clairement pas la priorité de ce cher Victor.
Bref, un roman magnifique, très engagé mais avec trop de longueur, digne de notre Victor Hugo.
Mais bon il faut aussi dire que Victor Hugo est, encore une fois, avant tout un poète... Vale, no daba un duro porque no saliera todo terriblemente mal.
Tengo sentimientos encontrados con Los Miserables. Me parece una historia increíble, pero, dios mío, tiene tanta información inútil. Hay capítulos aburridos hasta decir basta.
A este último tomo le pongo cuatro estrellas, pero como valoración general creo que le daré 3 estrellas. Es que, sinceramente, el tomo II fue insufrible.
No tengo mucho más que decir, tan sólo que lo de Javert me parece super aleatorio. Hasta luego maricarmen. No sé xD.
También te digo, que el título podría haber sido El miserable. Y otra cosa más, no creo que haya nadie con más suerte que Jean Valjean. Mala y buena. Es de locos la mala suerte que tiene, pero es de locos también la de veces que las casualidades lo salvan de ser atrapado. Bastante Deus ex machina, si me lo preguntas, pero bueno.
Ahora me tocará escuchar cantar a Russell Crowe Y Hugh Jackman... Qué vida tan dura xDD

Công nhận series này đ� s� thật luôn. T vừa đọc vừa chill nên phải mất 4 tháng mới đọc xong được :(( T thấy sách có hơi khó đọc � mấy phần tác gi� gợi lại lịch s�, thêm nữa là có nhiều chú thích tiếng Pháp dài lắm ý, đọc đến hoa c� mắt. Ngoài những tr� ngại mà t đ� cập đến ra thì những phần còn lại của cuốn sách đều rất tuyệt vời. Đặc biệt phải k� đến chi tiết xung đột tâm lý của nhân vật Jean Valjean trước khi đứng trước tòa thú nhận toàn b� tội lỗi, tiếp đến là chi tiết Javert sau khi ông ta nhận ra toàn b� niềm tin và s� tôn sùng của ông đối với luật pháp hoàn toàn b� sụp đ� trước một tên tù kh� sai như Jean Valjean...
Ngoài l� một xíu ~ bias trong sách của t có l� là thằng nhóc Gavroche ấy, lúc thằng bé hy sinh t thương nó lắm luôn TvT còn t anti cứng thằng Marius nhé, thích không có nổi 💀

على مدى 2000 صفحة تقريباً، استطاع هوغو أن يشدّني إلى روايته، كما استطاع أن يصطاد، مِن قَبْلي، آلاف القرّاء، ببراعة سرده، وحكمته المتناثرة هنا وثمّة.
إنّ هوغو ينضم في روايته هذه إلى مجموعة الكتّاب، الذين هم أكثر مِن مؤرخين أو سارِدِين، بل هم لاهوتيون من دون درجة أكاديمية، رهبان من دون ثوب رهباني،... عارفون بما خَلْف زرقة السماء كما لو أنهم عاشوا بعض اللحظات هناك.
هوغو، مثل دوستويفسكي، يريد أن يعظنا، من دون أن يجرح كبريائنا؛ ويحبّ أن يقدّم إلينا فهمه للحياة، من دون أن يقف وقفة الأستاذ؛ ويبتغي إمتاعنا، من دون أن
يرقنا...
أخيراً،... مات جان فالجان،... لكن يبقى في مخيلتي وذاكرتي:

Más luchas de barricadas y muertes épicas, como la de Enjolras, puro e incorruptible al estilo de Robespierre o la de Gavroche, que burla a la muerte cantando. Prescindible la descripción de la huida a través de las alcantarillas y divertidas las discusiones políticas del abuelo Gillenormand, tan orgulloso y testarudo como siempre, y su nieto Marius.
Sorprendente también el suicidio de Javert, provocado por su rígido sentido de la justicia
Muy emotiva la muerte de Éponine y tristísimo el final de Jean Valjean, comparable al sacrificio de un santo. Muere de pena y soledad con la presencia, en espíritu, del abad Myriel.

واخيرا انتهت رواية البؤساء المكونة من خمس مجلدات، الفين وربع مائة صفحة، رواية ممتعة من الطبيعي ان تكون احداثها بطيئة بناء على قلة عدد الشخصيات والفترة الزمنية اللي بتعيشها الرواية،
شخصيتها رسمت بكل عناية ومهارة كعادة الشاعر والكاتب العظيم فيكتور هوجو، يعيب عليها اشياء ايضاً ومنها انك تشعر وكان باريس ليس بها الا شخصيات الرواية، دائما والمصادفات تقودهم الى بعض، احيانا تتوقع القادم لان الشر يتربص دائماً بالخير، فيكتور هوجو هنا متغير في لغة عن رواياته الصغيرة، ليست شخصياته بالجسارة والاقدام الى في مواضع قليلة يمكن ده بسبب رسم الشخصيات ولكني اتكلم عن طابع كتابات الكاتب .

شخصيتها رسمت بكل عناية ومهارة كعادة الشاعر والكاتب العظيم فيكتور هوجو، يعيب عليها اشياء ايضاً ومنها انك تشعر وكان باريس ليس بها الا شخصيات الرواية، دائما والمصادفات تقودهم الى بعض، احيانا تتوقع القادم لان الشر يتربص دائماً بالخير، فيكتور هوجو هنا متغير في لغة عن رواياته الصغيرة، ليست شخصياته بالجسارة والاقدام الى في مواضع قليلة يمكن ده بسبب رسم الشخصيات ولكني اتكلم عن طابع كتابات الكاتب .

L'histoire principale prend enfin son envol, avec seulement des détours mineurs, alors qu'Hugo rassemble magistralement tous ses personnages et complète pleinement toutes leurs histoires entrelacées. Belle écriture, et si vous ne pleurez pas de manière incontrôlable lors des derniers chapitres, je m'inquiète pour votre âme.
The main story finally takes off, with only minor detours, as Hugo masterfully brings all of his characters together and fully completes all of their interwoven stories. Beautiful writing, and if you don't weep uncontrollably during the last few chapters, I worry about your soul.

Belli sayıda kitap okumaya çalışan bir okur olarak ne yazık ki hiç beğenemedim. 5 yıldız bir yana, 3 yıldız bile vermem. Sayfalarca kanalizasyona ve kanalizasyonun tarihini anlattığı son kitap mı, hikayenin beklenen sonu dahil yavanlığı mı, baş karakterin (Jan Veljan) kızının (Kozet) aptallık seviyesindeki saflığını mı, konuların bunca uzatılmasını mı, neyi önce eleştireyim, bilemedim.
