Ethel Lilian Voynich, née Boole was a novelist and musician, and a supporter of several revolutionary causes. Her father was the famous mathematician George Boole. Her mother was feminist philosopher Mary Everest, niece of George Everest and an author for the early-20th-century periodical Crank.In 1893 she married Wilfrid Michael Voynich, revolutionary, antiquarian and bibliophile, the eponym of the Voynich manuscript.

Небольшая книжка, за день прочла.
Учитывая то, что прототипом викария судя по всему явился дядя Войнич, её очень очень жалко. Хз надо ли делать скидку на художественный вымысел либо самое страшное осталось за скобками.
Тут Корнуэл, и опять кочующие из романа в роман типажи, но это странным образом не мешает, а выглядит как бы общим миром ее книг.
Перечитывать Джека Реймонда и Оливию Лэтам не стану, но рада что прочла.

Jack Raymond has Voynich’s smart storytelling, and unique character descriptions. However, if you compare it to Gadfly, this book lacks excitement and extreme feelings that Gadfly provides. The novel discusses the effects of torture on lifes of people, and how hiden feelings and passion can turn people into violant and merciless ones. Jack Raymond is a powerful and strong human being who can turn his life into a better one, and can help people using his skills and his intelligence. He is a man with a big heart and is ready to accept the people including his sister Molly and his surrogate brother Theo just as they are.
