About the author

Maya Cross

12books1,749followers
Maya Cross is writer who enjoys making people blush. Growing up with a mother who worked in a book store, she read a lot from a very young age, and soon enough picked up a pen of her own. Her previous work spans many genres including horror, science fiction, and fantasy, and she has now started this pen name as an outlet for her spicier thoughts (they were starting to overflow). She likes her heroes strong but mysterious, her encounters sizzling, and her characters true to life.

She believes in writing familiar narratives told with a twist, so most of her stories will feel comfortable, but hopefully a little unique. Whatever genre she's writing, finding a fascinating concept is the first, and most important step.

The Alpha Group is her first foray into erotic romance, and she absolutely loved writing it.

When she's not writing, she's playing tennis, trawling her home town of Sydney for new inspiration, and drinking too much coffee.

Actually, I didn't enjoy this novel as much as I enjoyed the previous two and . I felt like it become almost boring. Well, also it didn't surprise me at all. I found out who was the bad guy, who was the leader of that group. Only one thing I didn't find out before it was revealed .
I was also pretty disappointed that she was kidnapped like for one/two days, I just expected more. It is another of those books that try to pretend how those main characters have it so bad. But then it is only for show. And the end? Sorry, I have nothing to say about it... Cheezy, cliché and predictable.

4 Concluding, No More Cliffys, Very Hot Stars
* * * *
This is the conclusion of the 3 part series. In the first two parts we were always left hanging, dangling, dying to see what was around the corner... and our fearless author would leave us there ...
Teasing and Taunting ... making us click to get our fix on the next chapter for these two....

Was that fair.. or kind...ABSOLUTELY NOT! But she did deliver each time...
and in this last part... I really was right there with Sebastian and Sophia every step of the way.

Was I always happy with all the roads they traveled... no ... but I really loved a lot of the detours they took... like the time they went to a little far off place called Mi Casa...

There was great food...wine and dancing... the type of dancing which makes you feel as if you are having sex standing up while moving to the music... and dance they did...

I liked when they connected on levels which were surprising to him....when he was overwhelmed with need and desire for Sophia which confused him yet made him feel more secure than he ever had been before...

And I loved when Sophia actually got her shit together and stood her ground... whether it was against a co worker bitch... or better yet, during a time of great stress ... setting aside everything to support and be there for Sebastian.

This story had a little something for those who like their romance with some intrigue and mystery. This story also delivered on the hot, steam and full on melt panties buy new ones scale....

So I will look out for Maya Cross and see what she is up to next... because I know she will be delivering something tasty.... My only caveat is she likes to do Cliffys.... so I was very fortunate to have had all three books ready for me to read. If I had had to wait for them.... I might not have been so willing to travel where she lead me....

One final note.... Jahy.... pssssst... Thanks... you were right...

3.5 STARS

I don't know how to rate this book.

It was GOOD, don't get me wrong and I loved it. BUT... the story felt like it was not part of the series... In the first 2 books Sebastian was secretive alpha male... in the last book it was like he was blabbering all his secrets like a 3year old. Telling her everything. It just felt weird.

There was some pretty hot scenes in this book:

1. The Movies (Uhhh I want to go to the movies)
2. The shower scene damn that was hot!
3. (Uhh I forgot about nr 3) that candle wax and the ice block YUM!

Look forward to other books of this author.

Over and out. xx

WOWWEEEEEE!!!! Now that was an excellent end to an AMAZING series.

At the end of Lockout, Book #2 in The Alpha Group Series, there was a major cliff-hanger! My jaw was hanging open and I was chanting…OMG! OMG! OMG! I was going crazy, and needed to know what was going to happen next. I had SO many questions I wanted answered. Maya Cross did an AMAZING job answering every one of those questions, and so much more, in Unlocked, book #3 in The Alpha Group series.

One of the things that REALLY surprised me was that Unlocked read more like a mystery/suspense romance. It added another element to the read which was very enjoyable! All of Sebastian’s secrets were revealed, and most especially the one I wanted to know most about - what exactly is The Alpha Group?! Unlocked centers around The Alpha Group and you won't get any more from me about who and what they are. The book was action packed, and as things go from bad to worse, Sebastian and Sophia grow even closer.

Sebastian and Sophia's characters were top notch, and very well written. I loved reading how Sebastian finally caved and told Sophia everything. I also LOVED how Sophia handled all of Sebastian’s disclosures and was ready to face anything to be with the man she loved. The way these two interacted when they were in danger was exhilarating and spot on! Sebastian and Sophia had amazing chemistry and sizzled together, the pages were burning! Just how I like it…HOT!!

Just when I thought everything was coming to an end, Maya threw us a curve ball, and added another exciting action scene that had me totally glued to the book. This booked ended perfectly, giving me the HEA ending that I'm always looking for.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a fantastic story with excellent characters, some laugh out loud moments, secrets, SCORCHING HOT love scenes, plenty of action, betrayal, victory, and most of all LOVE!

This series need to be read in order to appreciate the characters and the story!

It was okay. I'm glad I was able to listen to the series via the library. I enjoyed the narrator and for the most part the series was really smutty.

The 3rd book had a little more plot and the plot was kind of out there. The book was originally published in 2013 and of course my reading taste has changed. I found some parts kind of corny. Usually I go for cheese, but it was just dated writing. I don't even know if that makes sense.

I think if you are a huge fan of the 50 shades area and like the old fashion smutty writing then you would like this series. I'm disappointed the author didn't write anything else. Maybe she's a one-hit wonder or she moved on to another pen name.

Regardless, my last Maya Cross book. It wasn't bad and it wasn't great, but it helped pass the time.

Wow, this is a pulsating and incredibly dynamic conclusion to The Alpha Group trilogy. The action picks up exactly where we left off after the dramatic cliffhanger in Lockout and Sophia in a serious predicament and the pace of the story never falters from this moment on. We have just about everything here - beautiful romance, incredibly erotic sex scenes, danger, action, despair, hope and happiness. Just about everything you could hope for in an erotic trilogy.

We've come full circle from the moment when Sebastian and Sophia first met in Locked - the story has moved on and grown massively from that point and it's on a much bigger scale than I could ever have anticipated. We finally find out about The Alpha Group and Sebastian's role in it and it's not something I had expected, that's for sure!

Sebastian and Sophia together in this one were such a joy to read. There's a real despair that they may not have much time together, danger is threatening them from seemingly every direction and, at times, they don't know who to trust and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. I could really tell how much they loved one another, how much one feared for the other and how much they worried that their time remaining was severely limited. There's a real desperation here - an overwhelming love and desire that consumes them and, yet, at times, there seemed to be no future for them.

You always hear stories about the purity of love, about the way it swells inside you until nothing else even matters. I never cared much for that perspective before -- that kind of love typically isn't compatible with the sort of future I saw for myself -- but now I found myself longing for it to be that simple. Every decision had turned into a conflict, a titanic battle between heart and brain, between logic and emotion. I couldn't deny my feelings for him, but whenever they rose inside me, they brought with them anger and betrayal. I knew it wasn't intentional, but he'd exposed me to this world, a world that was currently trying to chew me up and spit me out again.

We finally got to know Sebastian well and in intimate detail in this one and I really fell under his spell. His reactions and feelings at the danger to Sophia will even surprise him and definitely made me love him more. Sophia also really comes into her own, having to draw on strengths even she didn't know she had as the two of them will have to use that incredible connection they share to communicate at the most dire of moments.

I put a hand on his knee. "We're in this together, Sebastian. Whatever happens."

He stared at me for a full ten seconds, somehow managing to look touched yet incredibly anxious. Eventually though, he broke into a sad little smile. "Together it is then," he said softly, reaching out to squeeze my hand. And somehow it felt like an incredibly tender moment instead of an insane suicide pact.

Despite all of the drama and suspense going on, there's still plenty of time for some seriously HAWT sex scenes. Sebastian is still a dominant man and they share several scenes that are pantie-combustingly hot and, as this is the longest of the trilogy, it's definitely going to disappoint you in that department. There's also a fantastic epilogue - I always need a good epilogue after the story is done to let me know how they're getting on and that's exactly what I got here. Great closure.

Finally he pulled away, only to bury his head against my neck. "Say it again," he whispered, teasing me with a slow rocking motion.

"I love you," I breathed.

"And I love you," he replied.

So, in conclusion a fitting and incredibly dramatic conclusion to the Alpha Group Trilogy that has just about everything to keep you turning the pages at warp speed - sex, romance, danger, twists and turns, highly unexpected revelations and, above all, a beautiful love story. It's been a pleasure to read and review this trilogy and I can't wait to see what Maya does next!

I'm not entirely sure I would rate the book as a whole a full 4 stars, but the last 30% gets it to that mark...it had me turning the pages faster than my eyes could read. I loved having Sebastian's POV and without that this book wouldn't have worked as well as it did. The action at the end was fantastic! I've also decided that I need to invest in a detachable showerhead......off to Home Depot.

I was with Maya Cross and her journey with The Alpha Group series from day one and in that time, I fell in love with these books one by one. The first one - Locked - the one where we meet Sophia and Sebastian and where they meet each other and start something that will change their lives. The second one - Lockout - when they both realize things have changed and they want to be much more, but there are many secrets and trust is a fragile thing, but not impossible to earn.

And now - in Unlocked - we continue where we were left off. Sophia is in danger and Sebastian is afraid that he is the one that put her in that situation. Through the first two books the author kept us wondering about Sebastian's life and what exactly is so important to hide. This is when we finally find out the truth.

Unlocked is a combination of suspense that is much more present here then in other books; and romance and passion that is still blazing between these two, that is still too strong to ignore even when uncertainty separates them.

I really enjoyed the suspense. It had many bad guys, mystery, plenty of action and edge-of-the-seat situations, even though at times, the excitement is reduced when things are solved too quickly. It had both positive and negative sides. The negative is that I got a small feeling of disappointment, but the positive is that it balanced the more important developments so it didn't bother me that much. It actually contributed to one thing I especially admire with Maya Cross and other authors: the organization and setup of the story.

Creativity is the most important thing in writing. After that I value the writing style and story organization the most - the skill to combine all the elements you want to put in the story so that it all makes sense and is able to drive a positive response in readers. The whole Alpha Group series is a calculated evolution of a relationship that made an interesting story.

Not to mention that sometimes I really wished all that I was reading was a movie to watch and see it all live in a brilliant spectacular light. But I'm definitely not complaining.

Sophia had been a constant remarkable aspect of the series - a strong, independent, hard-working woman that discovered another side of herself when she met Sebastian. I liked her willingness to explore the more kinky side of sex. And I loved(!) what they did here in Unlocked; there isn't much play with senses in BDSM books, or I'm just reading the wrong ones. Sophia's best attribute is her determination. I like what it's still even-present.Without it, a relationship with Sebastian would've been over before it even started.

Because this final book brought out the concerned and protective side of Sebastian. The events of the past caused him to try to distance himself from Sophia, to keep her out of the danger, and that's all sweet and all from him, but not what they both need. I love that the female characters was the one to push for once. But hell yeah, even Sebastian couldn't keep out his need and that sexy dominance (mmm..;)

An amazing end to a series that has become really dear to me! Full of suspense and romance with Sophia and Sebastian gradually forming a relationship that is sure to last. Maya Cross has done an outstanding job with her first series and I'm sure she will continue to use her talent to bring us more exciting stories to follow.

PS: I'm still lusting after these beautiful covers!

I'm not even sure what I was expecting to get from this book, but I don't think I got it. Oh, well...

At least now I know who Sebastian Lock is, and what The Alpha Group is. That's something.

This book was quite different from the previous two. It had more suspense, shooting, kidnapping, killing, betrayal, intrigue, and what not. It wasn't written entirely in Sophia's point of view, which for me was a good thing. There were some surprising twists at the end, and still I just wasn't feeling it.

I guess my biggest problem was failing to connect with the main characters, Sophia and Sebastian, separately and as a couple. Especially Sophia. I just didn't like her. Nor did I understand the things she did. Or why she did them. Come to think of it, I didn't understand how Sebastian even let her do those things.

Oh, well. It is what it is. I wish them all the best in their fictional lives.

☆☆☆☆ 4.5 Locked Hearts Set Free Stars ☆☆☆☆

Heartbroken and held captive, Sophia doesn't know what's going on. She knows she's in trouble and not sure of anything at this point.

Her life isn't going as planned and her options aren't looking promising until Sebastian comes to the rescue.

There is no time to reunite, they must move.

As safety comes into view, both their lives are about to unravel in a secretive world of The Alpha life that Sebastian has chosen for himself. Never wanting to put Sophia in danger, Sebastian must reveal secrets that are going to hurt several.

There was no happy ending here, and letting myself think otherwise would only destroy me more.

Sebastian and Sophia are now on borrowed time as someone is after their lives. Someone that neither saw coming and things are about to explode for Sebastian and everything he has trusted in his life.

Together, Sebastian and Sophia are unstoppable against the enemy.

"There was no want left in our relationship now, only need. I needed him like I needed air."

The conclusion to this story of fierce attraction plagued with a secretive life was perfect.

Unlocked by Maya Cross

4 stars!!

“This isn’t me giving up my life, Sophia, he said. “This is me beginning it.

I had been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to Sebastian and Sophia’s story and I was not disappointed! Unlocked is the last in The Alpha Group trilogy and the story picks up straight after the dramatic cliff hanger that we were left with at the end of Lockout. Sophia had been kidnapped and she is locked away, she doesn’t know if anybody realises she is missing especially as her and Sebastian had split up just before! She tries to make the best out of a bad situation but this time in confinement gives her time to think.

During this story, we find out a lot about The Alpha Group and Sebastian’s role within it, you would think that a group as powerful as this would be able to contain any problem that was thrown at it, but alas, no. This is made extremely difficult when it soon becomes apparent that there is a mole in the group and now nobody knows who to trust. The whole group is thrown into disarray and Sebastian and Sophia feel totally alone. Although, this may prove to be a good thing, eventually!

“We’re in this together, Sebastian. Whatever happens. He stared at me for a full 10 seconds, somehow managing to look touched yet incredibly anxious. Eventually, though, he broke into a sad little smile. “Together it is, then, he said softly, reaching out to squeeze my hand. And somehow it felt like an incredibly tender moment, instead of an insane suicide pact. Yep, definitely desensitised.

Whilst trying to keep themselves alive Sebastian and Sophia really have time to re-evaluate their relationship, finally we see why Sebastian has been holding back and his reasoning behind his decisions. Will he finally realise that the only person that he can truly trust is sitting right before him and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep them together?

“Do you remember what you said to me over dinner, the first time we went out? I asked eventually. “Nothing worth having comes risk free. Well. That’s how I feel now. I got to my feet and moved over to him, taking his hands in mine. “I’m a big girl. I can make my own decisions. I understand the risks, and I’m telling you I’m okay with them. I love you, Sebastian, and if that’s the price for being with you, then it’s one I’m willing to pay. The question is, are you?

As always, Maya writes some steaming hot scenes in this book. Sebastian is still Alpha by name and alpha by nature, however, there are not as many scenes in this book as we are used to. This is mainly because this final book centres around the plot of the Alpha Group and they literally do not have time for any of those shenanigans !! As I said before, they are mainly trying to keep themselves alive!

.allowing him to sheathe himself in me all the way to the root. Finally he pulled away, only to bury his head against my neck. “Say it again, he whispered, teasing me with a slow rocking motion. “I love you, I breathed. “And I love you, he replied. And then he was moving in me again, his mouth tracing fire across my collarbone

We see a whole new side to Sebastian in this book, he is loving, he is extremely protective and he opens up a lot. If you didn’t love the man of mystery before, you sure will now! Sophia, really develops too in this book. She has her back bone, she uses it, she steps up to plate and is literally Sebastian’s right hand woman throughout this book. You can see their relationship getting stronger and stronger and you cannot help but root for them throughout the book. They also have an amazing connection to, not just physically but mentally too. It is this connection that amazingly gets them through some really tricky situations but will they both be standing at the end?

I have loved this series, a mixture of steamy romance, with mystery, danger, twists and turns, ups and down’s and a fabulous plot that will keep you guessing and page turning till the end. This book also has an epilogue, and I am really love them so you will not be disappointed with the end. I cannot wait to see what Maya has in store for us next!

My congratulations to Maya Cross for an outstanding debut series! I loved all three books, but the last one, Unlocked, kept me at the edge of my seat. Thank goodness, I finished editing my own upcoming book because I spent the whole day reading it--gave up a trip to the gym and even my poor doggies didn't get their walk! I highly recommend all three books to anyone who loves a well written, steamy erotic romance series and the bonus of gripping action and suspense. I look forward to reading more from Maya.

not sure what to say... it wasnt very sexy and i was not invested in the characters. perhaps i would have enjoyed it more if the three books had been combined into one long book....i was looking forward to reading this but i think having a 2 month gap between reading part two and reading part three was a mistake... it lost its momentum. it did have a good ending though.

It was obvious that Sebastian Lock had met his match in Sophia and fallen for her hard. He really tried to do the right thing by her and stay away for her own safety. But, this time it wasn’t enough, someone was out for revenge and Sophia was prime hostage number 1. We were left with such a cliff-hanger at the end of book 2 and I really couldn’t tell where it was going to go next. Luckily enough book 3 wasn’t far behind and I dived straight in! This instalment is written in The POV of Sebastian and Sophia so you get to know what’s going on from all angles.

Sebastian made it obvious to those around him that Sophia is his Achilles heel. Even though he stepped away from her to protect her, it’s wasn’t difficult to see that Sebastian was having a hard time with the situation and was torn between the one woman that had captured his heart and he Alpha Group which he had dedicated his life to.

There was no way he could have both and I hurt for him as he struggled to do what he thought was for the best. He has such a big heart and is capable of loving so hard. It doesn’t take him long to come to the conclusion that the safest place for Sophia is by his side and we all know what that means…yes, some really scorching scenes, the movies, hot wax and ice cubes…sweet baby Jesus this man knows what to do with an ice cube!!

“This beautiful woman had given herself over to me. She’d put her pleasure entirely in my hands. Nothing is more intimate than that.

Sophia is still as strong as ever, even when her life is threatened, she still stands by the man she has fallen hopelessly in love with and doesn’t back down. She is sharp, clever and still manages to be sexy and all woman.

“I felt like I was finally getting all of him, no more shields, no more secrets, he was finally letting it all go, and it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever experienced. In that moment I know I was his and he was mine.

I love the way things panned out at Little Bell, karma really is a bitch and this proves that It will come around and bite you on the ass!

All of the secrets are revealed and the puzzle pieces fitted together. We knew it had to be an inside job and I had wracked my brains to figure out who was out to ruin Sebastian and I still didn’t guess it. The bombshell that we get in the climax of the book was very cleverly concealed and one that I hadn’t even thought possible.

But, in true romance book style, there is a happy ending to this sexy trilogy. It’s doesn’t come easily and there are plenty of moments where you think there can’t possibly be a way out, but it really is all tied up in a neat little bow and I will sleep easy knowing that their love conquered all and they will be living happily ever after!4 Fabulous Alpha Stars!!

What I Loved: First of all, whoa! Locked Out ends with a huge cliffhanger and thankfully Unlocked picked right back up so you don’t miss a beat. Sophia is immediately faced with uncertain circumstances and you don’t know what is going to happen next. I loved every freaking minute of it!

I like that this story changed a little in that the book switched point of views so we got more of a whole story rather than just from Sophia’s. I loved it because you got to really see Sebastian’s feelings for Sophia and just how much she has changed his life.

All of Sebastian’s secrets come pouring out of this story so the mystery that is Sebastian is no more! Plus there was just a ton of suspense in this one that just added to the overall reading experience. I was completely engrossed the entire time and I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m very intrigued with candle wax and ice now.

Not So Much: As much as I loved this entire series and this book added a whole new dimension and at certain points the plot just got a little too farfetched to me. I get that this is fiction and it’s not supposed to be real but there is a fine line between fantasy and ridiculous and at times I felt like this plot skirted that line.

I loved that Sebastian finally started to spill his guts, and we learned so much. But I also felt like it was kind of rushed through and rambled rather than organized and explained. The reader gets to learn more about Sebastian’s past, but I felt like it was just barely scratching the surface and nothing was elaborated the way it should be. There is so much going on, and that’s great but some of the back stories were kind of ignored. For example, Sophia’s friends which were key people in her life, are barely mentioned at all.

The conclusion to the Alpha Group was great read. We were left with quite a cliffhanger ending in Lockout, and with Sophia now in the hands of unknown kidnappers she has to wait to find out if Sebastian will rescue her, does he even know she was taken? Will he even care?

But we know Sebastian's reasons for leaving Sophia were about protecting her, not about not feeling love for her. So he comes for her. And we get to see his side of things with the shifting point of views. We see first hand the desire he feels for Sophia and the fear of losing her. But for now, with the threats unknown, the safest place for her is by his side, in his arms, in his bed.

We have all sorted out our own answers as to just what the Alpha Group was - but for the first time we get the answers to these questions. We meet the players and we watch as they try to manipulate the situation to suit their own needs. But the threat to Sebastian and Sophia goes far deeper than they ever could have imagined. Protecting the group, seeking revenge and seeking power are dangerous desires and the brothers that Sebastian would lay his life down for are suddenly all suspect. Every eye that turns in their direction could be a threat. Their circle of trust has been narrowed to two.

The continued story of Sebastian and Sophia was brought to a perfect ending. I felt like the climax of it all coming out seemed a bit less dramatic and short lived, but overall the story as a whole were a great read. It had intensity, sexiness and mystery. I loved the change in points of view, to finally get a glimpse into Sebastian and liked that the ending was not so much of a tied into a bow ending that had it all worked out. It was just simply the end of one chapter and the start of a whole new life for the two of them.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review

Intrigue, betrayal, and scorching sex...the final installment of The Alpha Group will keep you riveted.

There's a lot more action in Unlocked than in the previous two installments as Sebastian's secrets are finally revealed. Sophia continues to prove that she's smart and capable enough to not only survive in this shadowy world, but to help Sebastian take a stand against enemies that seem to be coming from all directions.

I loved that Unlocked splits between Sophia's and Sebastian's POV. Finally, we get to hear from the man himself and see the true depth of his emotions for Sophia. Plus getting a first-hand glimpse into his sexually dominant side? Talk about hot!!!

Maya Cross's multiple plot threads and misdirection keeps you guessing who is exactly after the couple and what their motivation is. Just when I thought I had it figured out, there would be another twist to shatter my theory. The villain isn't the only mystery to finally be revealed in Unlocked. We are finally able to see to the heart of the mysterious Alpha Group and their mysterious leader. I have to admit, that I didn't see that one coming.

Unlocked is a terrific quick read. The intrigue kept me turning the pages and I had it finished in a few hours. But you should read the prior two installments Locked and Lockout first. Unlocked is available now, so go get it!

Okay, so we didn't have to wait too long for the end of this trilogy, yet we still had to wait.
First off, I had to remind myself what was going on, as the "steam" had already let out and I went into this read cold. Though this is what author's get for cliff hangers.
So, this couple finally get back together...yadda yadda yadda....the end.
Yep, that's how I felt. It was just so BORING. I mean, maybe all the political nonsense of the Alpha group would have made more sense and been more interesting had I actually remembered what was going on, but I didn't really. And honestly when I start a book, all I care about is the romance factor. If you're going to have all this other stuff going on that's so dangerous and supposed to be such an integral part of the story, well, you really should keep it all together so I actually feel like I get enough romance to start seeing past it and care about what's going on around it.
It did have a nice little surprise toward the end, but other than that, I was just done with it by mid book.
Obviously, it was a good series, as many love it, however I just am not one of them. I do love Maya Cross as an author and look forward to her many other reads in the future.

Rating 3.50* Book 1-3 of "The Alpha Group"

This is the final book in the Alpha Group trilogy. While the characters were memorable, especially Sebastian, I just never really warmed up to Sophia. She was a very strong heroine, which I loved, but at times she was crass, short on empathy and possessed a cringe-inducing lack of BOUNDARIES. As we didn't have a strong physical description, my opinion of Sophie was based on her words, thoughts and deeds. And I found her to be a typically selfish, 20-something and didn't get Sebastian's intense emotional attraction, though I did get their lust for one another and give high scores for the "bedroom" scenes.

Another gripe I had was the brevity of the three parts. The story, as a whole, needed to be fleshed out: adding depth to their relationship, to the goings on with the Alpha Group, and ratcheting up the tension level to a butt-clenching dramatic finish. Speaking of, I did NOT like the Epilogue at all and absolutely preferred the alternate ending available on the author's website. There are so many possibilities if that option were followed. As is, everything falls into place and there's a very short Epilogue that just peters out to a highly unlikely end.
