Award-winning and No.1 Bestselling author Lizbeth Selvig writes heartwarming contemporary romance. Whether set in the Scottish Highlands, a huge ranch in Wyoming, a small town in Minnesota, or a Kentucky racetrack, her strong, fun and funny characters will never do the expected while finding their ways home to family and love.

Lizbeth turned to fiction writing after working as a newspaper journalist and magazine editor, raising an equine veterinarian daughter (handy, since there are usually too many horses in her stories) and a talented musician son (also handy because she’s been known to write about rock stars). She shares life in Minnesota, where her first book series is set, with her best friend (aka her husband, Jan), her two pretty horses, Jedi and Largo, three human grandchildren, and her four-legged grandbabies of which there are nearly thirty (including two alpacas, a couple of small goats, a mammoth-eared donkey, two miniature horses, a pig, and many many dogs, cats and regular-sized horses). In her spare time, she loves to hike, quilt, read, and ride horses. An incorrigible extrovert, she also loves connecting with readers—so contact her any time.

A sweet story that has so many different elements combining to keep the reader entertained, Lizbeth Selvig managed to make a 400 page story speed by with the clever characters, insets of humor, animals and a town's fight against a corporation.

Jill is a veterinary student: home for the summer working at the clinic, working in the stable where her horses are housed, teaching riding lessons and harboring a dream of making the olympic team. When she swerves her hated suv into a ditch to avoid hitting a stray dog, her ketchup splattered clothing nearly gave her rescuer, Chase fits.

Chase is running: from bad experiences and dreams at home in Memphis, on a classic Triumph bike that his grandfather told him to take, and will soon be employed by an old family friend in a construction crew. While he is reserved and unwilling to 'get attached', the attraction between the two is electric and palpable.

Selvig developed these characters with care and precision, minuscule details are as important as the big picture, conversations are real and the sense and feel of a small town with plenty of characters is both well described and detailed. The connection between Chase and Jill is palpable, even when the two are afraid to communicate. With some sibling rivalry, and a battle for the sanctity of the nearby natural preserve from a construction company looking to build a quarry; the multitude of input in the story never gets old.

A solid resolution with several moments about horseback riding and therapeutic riding equipment and the benefits of both on self-confidence and physical well-being were beautifully integrated and I hope (from a personal standpoint) that it will encourage people to explore those options in their own lives.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I really liked that they didn't just jump into bed. They had a real relationship with real problems. They weren't ridiculous or over the top problems either. Just things that can happen in the course of normal.

Another good book in this Minnesota romance series. An overcommitted young woman named Jill gets into a wreck trying to avoid hitting a dog and finds herself rescued from the ditch by a handsome Southerner named Chase. As he helps her get around on his motorcycle, he reveals he’s in town to work for a local construction company that threatens the landscape near a local park. This sets up a couple plot lines—their budding relationship, which is hampered by a secret of his from Tennessee and competing dreams she has that only a few will leave room for Chase, and that construction job and the deceptive manager in charge. The story was nice, the couple and their struggles were compelling and realistic, and the ending was lovely.

I enjoyed this right from start.

This being my first book review since becoming a tour host I was a bit giddy to get my hands on my first ARC copy, and I jumped right into it. I snuggled up with this book after a rough day, knowing a good book has the power to cure sour dispositions and within the first three chapters my lips couldn’t help but twitch into a smile right along with its smitten, but cautious main character Jillian Carpenter. Her passion, and quirks had me wanting to root for her right from the start, in any way, whether it was her schooling, work, or her getting with a dashingly handsome gentlemen who ‘says he’s just passing through.

This is my first Lizbeth Selvig novel, and I was not disappointed.

I am a big fan of contemporary romance, but have never gone out of way to read books with a southern twang. At first I found that the books leading man, Chase Preston, though he is charming and good-looking, my city-girl mind was reluctant to accept every sweet talking, metaphorical phrase laced with mild humor, but slowly and surely I found myself looking forward to the easy-to-understand description of southern drawls, and more catchy phrases that came with the southern territories, each more unique than the last.

What I find the most charming about this book is it’s two main characters who never stray from sincerity. They felt real. Though Chase can come off as typical with his guarded demeanor, heroic sensibilities, and troubling past, I find him far from cliché. Maybe because he feels smarter than most male characters I read, approaching his emotions with caution, but kind and fairly thorough in his own life assessment, which is hard to find in other novels. Some male characters are just plain dumb boys –not Chase Preston. Did I also mention he is also tall, dark and handsome AND well educated? C’mon ladies. Swoon.

Then there is Jill Carpenter, who is strong-willed, stubborn, and smart, but it never once felt forced. I liked her character so much. Her passion, and kindness and the way she goes about people, including her own family, had me adoring her. I wanted her to get the guy, because she deserves it.

This book had my most favorite quality which is I wanted these two adorable characters to just be together already, but it was that building frustration and anticipation that I loved the most about it, along with their dynamic relationship. Did I also mention their hot and heavy scenes that had me squirming in my seat, rooting for them? Oh yeah, that too.

This book was a fun, lighthearted read that had me grinning (sometimes like a smitten fool), and then also fidgeting with frustration begging these two characters to get their act together. I finished the book in under 4 days, finding I wanted to see how these two characters were getting along, and every time I closed it I always felt curious for more. I may not have been rushing to private corners to frantically read this book, but these characters stayed fresh on my mind pretty constantly, I mean, I still finished the book fairly quickly.

If you’re looking for a book, where you want to root for the characters up until the very end, and then hug yourself because they, the town, and it’s inhabitants are pretty heartwarming, this might be right up your alley. I give this a solid 4 star review :)

Rescued by a Stranger was my first read by Lizbeth Selvig, and I thought it was a really good way to start off with a new author. I'm not a huge contemporary romance fan but I every once in awhile I come across one that I like enough to add the authors other books to my shelves.

I liked Chase and Jill, I thought they were a good couple and I liked the chemistry that built up between the two of them and since I'm a huge fan of rescuer heroes this one was a departure from my normal reads and I liked it.

Jill was a really likable character, she was sweet, kind, loving and everything Chase was terrified of because of things in his past. I was surprised by how much I liked her because at first she gave the impression of being an inspid, whisp of a young woman but she had an old soul but at the same time she was fun loving and I like how she was devoted to the people and things she cared about.

Chase was a little harder to figure out but I liked seeing him grow as a character and become more comfortable with things as time passed. His devotion to Jill was what really endeared him too me and won me over.

I liked the overall plot of the story as well but occasionally I thought the book got a wee bit bogged down with some details that I could have done without and the whole relationship between Jill and Chase while it seemed slow burning actually turned into a really quick inferno which was good and I absolutely loved how horses and riding were an integral part of the story since Jill is a veterinarian student. I liked how the author included something that may or may not have been over looked by other writers to make the story come alive.

Overall, I really liked Rescued by a Stranger. It was a fun departure from my usual paranormal, and historical romance reads and I'm glad I signed up for this book's blog tour since it was written by an author I might not have come across otherwise. Since I enjoyed this one so much I'm hoping my library gets her other books in the system.

I would recommend Rescued by a Stranger to fans of contemporary romances stories that want their characters and their stories well developed with lots of feel good moments to balance out the parts that make you want to shove the main characters together and tell them to get it over with already!

This was my first foray into a world created by this author and I was absolutely blown away. (Even though the copy of the book that I got was missing pages 130,131,132, and 133 which I hope to someday read.) The way this author phrases things, how she describes the emotions of the lead characters, their inner monologues - they were all exactly how I wish I spoke & thought all the time.
For example: "He talked, but she did little except listen, spellbound, to his accent. Words rolled into each other, knocking rough edges off the sounds so sentences emerged like polished stones from a lapidary's gem tumbler. It was an indulgence to accept the guilty pleasure of his company." This perfectly portrays how I feel listening to a good ole southern boy in all his charming glory.
The story itself was fascinating and had a nice pace. I enjoyed reading about the curmudgeonly old coot Robert, the twins & their lessons as well as the lessons that both of the lead characters had to learn about themselves and each other. The secondary characters lent themselves to that wonderful small town close-knit community feeling that is woven throughout the story. If you enjoy heartwarming contemporary romance that makes you feel all warm & fuzzy inside, I suggest you take a trip to Kennison Falls, but watch the road for an "angel" just waiting to play matchmaker!

FTC Advisory: I won a copy of this book through the GoodReads First Reads program. No compensation for my review was given.

In Rescued by a Stranger, Lizbeth Selvig takes us back to Kennison Falls, where the Minnesota farm town is rebuilding after a tornado. But it appears other storms are brewing.

While a construction company heads up local repairs, plans also are afoot for a gravel quarry, a project that could hold negative consequences for a nearby state park. Onto the scene rides Chase Preston on his vintage motorcycle. A man with a past, he’s on the emotional lam from tragic circumstances in Memphis. Life changes when he rescues Jill Carpenter from an ill-timed encounter with a stray dog and a resulting drive into a ditch.

As a talented rider, the lure of being an Olympic equestrian is at odds with Jill’s commitment to vet school. Add an uppity teen suffering from terminal boredom, a cranky old farmer whose stubbornness is coupled with wisdom and steadfastness, and a physical therapist with an unrelenting eye for hunky males. And while corporate treachery threatens a close-knit community, the secret of Chase’s personal pain puts romance in jeopardy.

In this sequel to The Rancher and the Rock Star, compassion and redemption alter lives. Dreams change. Can Jill give up one dream for a better dream?

I actually enjoyed reading this. Jill Carpenter will find a place in your heart from the front page forward. She's a down-to-earth unassuming veterinary school student who loves horses and has the talent to potentially ride in the Olympics. She also loves people and has a kind heart. She drives a truck called Creature, and she' certain it intends to kill her.

That truck seems malevolent enough on the day Jill slides off the road in it and needs to be rescued. Her rescuer comes in the form of Chase Preston, a Memphis native who has come to Jill's portion of Minnesota to escape a personal tragedy that haunts him. He quickly learns that his only escape from the memories comes in the form of hard work. But Jill has begun to make a difference for him from the first minute she fell out of her truck and into his arms. He has complicated his life by finding work at a construction company that is not well liked in his community.

I loved these characters. Jill's sister is unpleasantly memorable, and the young women whom she's teaching to ride play integral parts in the story. If you enjoy romances, you'll like this book; if you don't enjoy romances, there are plenty of good subplots that will keep you reading.

What happens when tall, dark, and mysterious rides up to save a woman on a motorcycle? Love? Trouble? Or a little bit of both perhaps? That's Chase in a nutshell. He's battling a few inner demons, but he's one of those characters you could fall for instantly. I know I did. I love the way he and Jill interact. Their banter sometimes just cracks me up! And I love how their relationship builds slowly. They get to know each other. As they spend more time together, their feelings grow. nice and steady.

Now, Jill, she's awesome too. A heroine I can relate to. She doesn't drive me crazy like some do. She's strong willed, full of life and dreams, and she's absolutely perfect for Chase.

The story is emotional, great paced, and full of surprises. This is my second book by the author and I always come away at the end of her stories with a satisfied feeling. Looking forward to more!

Lizbeth Selvig is an amazing author. This is the fourth her books I have read since discovering her recently. I have loved everyone of them. I enjoy the fact that she puts realistic community issues in each book, keeping us tied to the great characters of the town as well as our magnificent main characters. They are magnificent but they are not perfect, but it is there weaknesses that let us see the characters and get to know them as well as providing fair background for conflicts in the relationships.

Jill Carpenter is attend vet school during the year and works as a riding instructor/veterinary assistant in the summer. Trust is her big issue but when Chance Preston sweeps into town rescuing her from minor disaster, it would be really easy to fall for the white knight on a vintage motorcycle. Chance has lost faith in himself, so he is taking time off to escape memories and heal.

Rescued by a Stranger is a good read for your spare time. It's a sweet, cliché story about falling in love with the person you least expect and falling in love way too fast. The characters were absolutely lovely and the story too.

I got this book as a free eARC from Edelweiss and Avon publishing company.

This was a cute novel. I thought it was a little long winded at times and the author got very descriptive about things I wasn't necessarily into, but overall it was good.

I did like the horse aspect of the novel. I've only ridden a horse once in my life, but I am fascinated with them and love a good story or film about horses.

This isn't my usual cup of tea - I'm more into the Young Adult and New Adult novels - but I did enjoy the different story line. It was a change of pace.

I think other readers would enjoy this story and would recommend it to others when it gets released!

Lizbeth Selvig brings the sexy and the sweet in Rescued by a Stranger. The hero, Chase Preston, arrives in Minnesota on the back of an old Triumph as he tries to outrun a past better left in Memphis. When he rescues Jill Carpenter and a dog, he gets more than he bargained for. Chase must decide if he wants to live in the past or have a future.

I love the small town vibe Selvig created. The town's problems come to life and the secondary characters are winning. Might there be another romance or two on the horizon? I hope so. Satisfying HEA is well earned after a heartfelt journey.

It was a sweet story with many other things added to the romance like horses, town's fight against the builder, etc. This was my first book by the author and I'm happy for discovering her. Chase and Jill were wonderful characters with many issues to overcome and I liked how their chemistry turned into romance. Robert was a surprising character and he was my favourite in the story

Another well written story by Lizbeth. Again set in Kennison Falls, Mn, we get to know new characters, but also learn about the town's survival after the devasting tornado. Good charter development and the requisite dogs, horses and more.

Well written and interesting. Loved the descriptions of the riding lessons and horses. The romance was believable but a little strained. Overall a nice read for a day of plane travel.

Decent for the genre, with lots of motorcycles and horses (if you are into such things), but I still can't fathom Northfield as romance territory.
