I used this book, and others in the Bow-Wow! Dog Helpers series, for an inquiry project with first graders. These books contain many non-fiction text features to reinforce to young learners how to use informational texts. The photos are engaging and pages are layed out in a way that is understandable. Language is appropriate for young learners, and the topic is highly engaging.
I wanted to read this book because I really love dogs, especially my own. This book taught me great things about what guide dogs do and how they get trained to become a guide dog. I thought this book was very informational and the dogs in the book were adorable.
