Have you heard the one about the impulsive American grad student and the broody Brit who argued about which kind of football was better?
It's a good story, especially because it ends with me clutching a pregnancy test in my tiny Oxford flat.
In my defense, it was never meant to be more than a harmless flirtation. But he was just sitting there, with his accent and his muscles and his tattoos, telling me that his football was better than the one I grew up watching my brother play. Next thing I knew, that flirtation got a whole lot hotter and even though I wasn't sure I'd ever see him again-my mystery Brit-it was the kind of night a girl goes to her grave remembering.
You know how the story goes though ... a few weeks later, the impulsive girl gets a little pukey, and sees a sports headline featuring her mystery Brit kicking the black and white ball that got us into this mess.
Trust me, I didn't see it coming either.

Floored is the third standalone book in the Ward Family series. This book is following Lia Ward while she is studying at Oxford for a semester. When a one nightstand with a hot british football player turns into an accidental pregnancy, things are getting interesting.
I'll try to keep it short. I like to read the Ward Family series because of the Ward family. Who knows me, knows close-knitted family/friends groups are my ? kryptonite ?. I really liked Logan and Paige story in The Marriage Effect and have been following the Ward family since then. They'll always give me this cozy and comfy feeling with how much they love and support each other. Who doesn't like to read about that?
While I do love the family aspects and all the side characters in this series, I'm not entirely sold on the romance between the main characters. It's usually just fine for me. Fine is not bad, fine is not good, it's okay. Therefore 3 stars are justified. Reading is a subjective experience. Sometimes you see chemistry when other's don't see it at all and vise versa. Karla's approach for romance is the more realistic one if you don't count the rich athlethic Heroes. That works for a lot of people. I need something more extraordinary and memorable, but do take it with a grain of salt, cause I'm pretty picky when it comes to my books. ?
Lia and Jude's first meeting was great. The banter, the chemistry, everything clicked but with each chapter I felt their chemistry less and less. I didn't really like their separation in the second half of the book and how they each handled it, because the distance between them, indirectly created a distance for me towards them. I was looking forward more to the Lia with her sisters and Loganpaige scenes than anything else.
Another thing I realized is that Karla Sorensen's heroes all sound the same to me. Unproblematic white boys who are professional athlethes. Change the name and the profession and you'll get a broody guy with lowkey self-esteem issues. Noah, Bauer and now Jude. They all fall in the same category and I can't really distinguish their POVs. Karla Sorensen does a better job with the heroines, cause with them I feel like they have different personalities.
The little snippet at the end of the book with Isabel and her love interest sounds interesting. From all the Ward sisters, I was intrigued by Isabel the most. Not holding my breath for the romance tho cause the guy is again an athlete who seems pretty broody. He has a kid tho and I love single dad trope so let's see. ?
Would recommend this series for people who like to follow a very close family and each of the member. Each book has a sweet romance and follows a pretty similar pattern.

? two characters with so much emotional baggage that I don't know if I should hug them or schedule a therapist appointment for them
? one of the purest, cutest and funniest family dynamics ever because the Wards are THAT family for me
4.5 stars || "Floored" is the third installment in The Ward Sisters Series and follows Lia, the wild and adventurous twin who jumped right into studying for a semester abroad when her idol invited her there, though she didn't count on the loneliness that being away from her loud and numerous family made her feel. Jude McAllister is a famous British soccer player, but his career has seen better days. They were both at their lowest when they met in a pub on a rainy afternoon and the attraction was instantaneous, so much so that a baby was made ???¡â? oops.
I loved Lia. From the other books you could see how she was the extroverted side of this set of twins, and she was this but also much more. Like her sisters, she too was scarred by her mom's actions and showed it in her own way; avoiding all kinds of problems and doubting herself at times. I liked her humor in times of crisis, how she faced the consequences of her actions and how she was always aware of her family's love and support for her, as well as how mature she was when things with Jude went downhill. Jude was a bit harder to crack because despite knowing what was going on in his life through his POV, he really took his sweet time to fully let Lia in and get his head out of his ass, but he was actually a very charming, sweet and romantic character from the very beginning.
As for the romance it was just a lot of chemistry and sexual tension in the beginning because duh, one night stand. But once the baby bomb was dropped and they got to know each other there were a lot of soft and domestic moments. There was a bit of angst as well mostly provided by Jude saying some things to Lia even when he knew he was hurting her, but the reconciliation and the epilogue made it all worth it in the end.
Also, special mention to the Ward family as always because this time their conversations made me shed a few tears. Logan and Paige are literally the best parents and the sister relationship between the girls is everything. I loved how this had a lot of funny moments - mostly because of Paige's comments - but also how emotional it was, especially Logan's reactions as an older brother and father figure to Lia.
AND ISABEL! WE ARE FINALLY CLOSER TO HER BOOK! I've been drawn to her since the beginning of her relationship with Paige on "The Marriage effect" so I thoroughly enjoyed her spotlight here and can't wait to read what problems her book will bring! From the beginning we could see that she's the one with the most mommy issues and I bet that's gonna explode here, besides her li being her new boss? and single parent trope? I'M SO READY FOR 2020 TO END AND SO WE CAN FINALLY HAVE HER'S BOOK. I already loved her, she's the tough character in this series so I'm ready to see her vulnerable side and protect her from all evil.

I loved the family dynamic of this story and I truly did love Lia. I liked Jude as well, but I felt like the actual romance and the time this couple spent together was a little lacking.

Ohmygosh.
This was soooooo good!
Absolutely delicious! A sweet, sexy romance that felt decadent and swoony and the perfect amount of emotional. I recently acknowledged that I think I have a thing for surprise baby tropes and this just confirms it: I definitely have a thing for surprise baby tropes.
I was hooked on Lia and Jude's story from the flirty, fun meet-cute. Their banter was the exact sort of snappy, smart, laced-with-heat kind that I'm a sucker for, every time. Their chemistry fired up immediately and I was on board, every step of the way.
Things moved very quickly in this story, but I never felt like it was at the expense of anything. I loved the way that Lia and Jude's romance blossomed. I loved how they adjusted the speed of things to suit their needs (even when it kinda sorta broke my heart). I loved their aching tenderness and their honest communication and their sweet sweet adoration of each other.
Also? I love the Ward family so much. It's an extra layer of goodness (in this veritable sea of goodness). I laughed at their plucky and overbearing communication style and the fierce way they supported each other. It's so authentic and emotionally satisfying to read. The dynamic of this motley bunch might be the real MVP of this series.
Though, that's taking nothing away from the bewitching chemistry between Jude and Lia (and their own little family dynamic). My heart fluttered and flipped and filling to bursting over their sweetly satisfying story. I loved it. This whole thing. It's the whole package and it was absolutely fantastic. I don't think it overly matters if this is your first book in the series but there are conversations with previous characters from previous books.
Non man-whore Hero.
Neither are virgins.
ONS resulting in pregnancy.
The couple meet feel an instant physical chemistry but also connect over snark of British football versus Americans calling it soccer.
During brief time of ONS and her telling him she's pregnant, it's a month I think, both are busy with work/career.

If you know me, then you probably know I¡¯m a sucker for the accidental pregnancy trope. When I found Lia¡¯s book was going to have that exact trope, I was beyond excited because I knew Karla Sorensen would not disappoint. Once again, she wrote an amazing romance with complex characters dealing with real-life problems in the most honest way.
Lia is now finishing her master's and writing a research paper in Oxford because she never quite figured out what she should do for a career. After spending all this time struggling with finding her own path, she decides to ignore her problems with the new guy who rocked her world after a one-night stand. However, Lia soon discovers that her problems will not go away unless she faces them head-on. Lia¡¯s growth throughout the book was incredible and it gave me that optimistic feeling that everything works out in the end.
When Jude met Lia, he was always on the edge because he was worried he would lose his beloved career as a soccer player. Besides that, he had a terrible relationship with his parents because they have never supported his choices and that left a toll on him. Jude had no clue on how to navigate those feelings and ended up making wrong choices that hurt Lia, but especially himself. One thing I loved about his arc was that not only he owned up to his mistakes, but also searched for help to be better to those he loved. Seeing a male character seeking therapy should be more common in NA books and I¡¯m glad Karla approached this subject so beautifully in this book.
As for the romance, I think even people who dislike the accidental pregnancy trope will love "Floored". At least for me, it was clear that Jude and Lia ended up together because they loved each other and not because they felt obligated. They didn¡¯t just found out they were going to have a baby and lived happily ever after. On the contrary, Lia and Jude had to suffer, grow, and learn a lot before they realized the connection they shared was real and worth fighting for.
Besides the whole grown-up stuff, Lia and Jude were just cute AF! Their first meeting was intense and explosive so there was no way it would end as a simple one-night stand. I liked how there were no games between them and that they were both crazy for each other. Jude was so soft and protective over Lia and their future children. He would literally do anything to be with them and be the partner and father they both deserved. Ugh, I wish I had a Jude in my life.
Last, but most definitely not least, can we talk about how the Wards are the best family out there? Lia¡¯s interactions with her sister throughout the book were so precious, funny, and important. Even though all the sisters are different, they are each other¡¯s biggest supporters no matter what. Their scenes were amazing, of course, but what absolutely killed me in this book was Logan¡¯s reaction to Lia¡¯s pregnancy. I already knew he was an amazing brother/father to her, but after this book, there are simply NO WORDS to describe how perfect he is. Paige¡¯s freak-outs about being a grandma were also amusing as hell. Some of the family scenes even made me cry because I¡¯m so attached to this fictional family it¡¯s not even funny lol
I highly recommend ¡°Floored¡± if you love romances with a sweet couple expecting a baby, lots of character development, and a perfect family that will make everything a little bit better. After reading the Washington Wolves and the Ward sisters series this year, now I know I¡¯ll read anything Karla Sorensen writes.

"The back and forth of the game is what makes it so beautiful,"
Floored was such a sweet and emotional read. I always think I¡¯ll get through a story about a Ward sister without crying, and it hasn¡¯t happened quite yet. I just love that family. Lia and Jude do their love story all backwards, but somehow it works for them. Of course there¡¯s some angst, there usually is with unexpected pregnancy trope, but honestly the way these two just go together was perfect to me. I did get a little sad at how some things in their relationship worked or didn¡¯t, but overall I loved this couple and their story!

Mr. Accento si era appena avvicinato al bancone del pub nel quale Lia era entrata per ripararsi dalla pioggia improvvisa.
?B¨¦, dato che ora il locale ¨¨ piuttosto tranquillo, penso che rester¨° ancora un po¡¯. Puoi mettere la partita per favore?? aveva chiesto a Carl, il barman. Internamente Lia aveva sorriso, sentendosi grazie a lui meno annoiata e sola.
?Flirta con un bel ragazzo inglese? le aveva consigliato la sorella ¡°intelligente¡± pochi minuti prima al cellulare.
Lia era americana ma si trovava a Londra per motivi di studio. Le mancava terribilmente la sua famiglia e sentiva la mancanza di ognuno di loro.
Ma in quel pub, in quel momento, i suoi pensieri malinconici erano stati spazzati via da Mr. Accento, che l¡¯aveva da subito intrigata. Poteva essere un buon diversivo per distrarsi e non pensare agli affetti lontani. E poi era molto bello.
Jude era passato al bar quella sera perch¨¦ voleva vedere suo fratello, il proprietario del pub, ma era fuori citt¨¤. Non si aspettava certo di intrattenersi con un¡¯americana impertinente dai grandi occhi blu e lunghi capelli scuri.

Jude and Lia meet while she's in London for university, they feel an instant connection and have a ONS, without last names being exchanged. She left her number and about a month later he finally gets the chance to make contact. By then Lia has some shocking news to share with the British football player..... she's pregnant.

This author really does family excellently. Not so much Jude's family because they had a lot of issues to work through but the ward family is absolutely amazing. I love the closeness between the members and especially Logan's relationship with the sisters he took in after their mom abandoned them.
This was pretty cute, Lia and Jude got closer as they spent time together after she realised she was pregnant.
Unfortunately the dreaded third act breakup had to happen ?. I understand that Jude didn't discuss his family in depth to Lia but I did find she overreacted. But since the separation enabled Jude to finally get the help he needed to work through his family issues I can't be 100% mad about it. I just very rarely find the third act breakup necessary
I love babies in my romances in all forms so this one was right up my alley.
On my initial read I rated this 4 stars but I skimmed a bit in this reread as I found parts to be a little slow.

Floored is not what I expected. From Miss Dorensen, I was expecting so much more. The story is nothing new for romance
One night stand went wrong eith sudden pregnancy. The writing for the plot is OK.
What is missing is thr connection between the characters. Both Lia and Jude feels like stranger until the end of the story. It is mssing the emotional connection.
Anyway... moving on...

Lia Ward is going to England for a semester as part of her master¡¯s program. Excited by this big opportunity, Lia¡¯s first few weeks in England are proving to be difficult as she misses her family and feels lonely. With the help of Claire, her twin, she is fully ready to make the most of this experience abroad and decides to finish one of her sightseeing days in a pub. She never expected to have a one-night stand with a charming and swoon-worthy British football player, let alone ending up pregnant with his baby!
I fell in love with the Ward family while reading the Washington Wolves series over a year ago, I enjoyed Molly and Claire¡¯s books a lot and was very excited to read Lia¡¯s, especially with all those teasers. I love it when the unexpected pregnancy trope is thrown into a story and as for Floored, it was very well written and so enjoyable to read. I was immersed in Lia and Jude¡¯s story from start to finish, it was so cute, soft, sweet, angsty, heartwarming and so much more. Jude was so charming and flirty with Lia, their relationship was beautiful and they had so many cute moments, but also had crazy chemistry. Once again, the Ward family stole the show, I always liked all their moments, but enjoyed them even more in this book. The fact that Lia was abroad and away from the rest of her family made me love their moments even more, they were more emotional, cuter and funnier and even made me shed a few tears. I seriously love this family so much and never want their story to stop being told.
Lia Ward moves to England for a semester for her master¡¯s program. She is excited about the whole experience, but her first few weeks there are a bit difficult as she feels lonely and misses her family a lot. She is determined and serious about her studies and ready to make the most of it while trying not to think too much about the future which tends to make her very stressed. Meeting Jude and ending up pregnant with his baby will turn her English experience upside down, but she can count on him and her family¡¯s support. Jude McAllister is a British professional footballer and like Lia, he is very passionate about what he does. However, his career is threatened by younger players in the team and the league, so he is also scarred about his professional future. Unlike Lia, he doesn¡¯t have a supportive family. He isn¡¯t really on speaking terms with his brother and parents as they don¡¯t support and respect his career choice. The idea of becoming a father scares him, just like the idea of becoming a mother for Lia, because of what has happened with their parents in their respective pasts. But together they are willing to give all their love to their baby and will support their child in whatever he or she will want to do.
When Lia and Jude met in that bar, the instant attraction was mutual, they were very flirty and had a good night with each other which led Lia to unexpectedly get pregnant. They like each other and Jude wants to be involved in the pregnancy, so they decide to continue spending time together. Lia and Jude don¡¯t want to define their relationship or think too much about the future, they just want to get to know each other better without setting any rules. They are there to support each other and this is how their relationship will evolve while Lia is in England. The chemistry between them was palpable and they had so many cute, steamy and domestic moments together and I loved the way their relationship slowly evolved throughout the story. Their feelings for each other were growing, but they didn¡¯t really talk about it with each other. Lia and Jude also kept other things from each other such as their family situation, especially for Jude and it will weaken their relationship. Lia doesn¡¯t know that Jude has such a bad relationship with his parents and when she found out, she panicked a lot and they decided to spend time apart from each other. This separation is going to be difficult for both of them, but it will also let them think more about this whole situation which they didn¡¯t really do when they were together. Lia and Jude will realize how important they are to each other. They care about each other, want to be together and build a family with their future child. Apart from each other, Lia and Jude finally understand how deep their feelings are for each other and how they want to be in a real relationship.
What I also liked
- The Ward family: All the Ward family moments, whether it¡¯s between Lia and her sisters or Paige and Logan or between all the family members in general, go a long way to explaining why I love this series so much. They are always so supportive of each other and always here for one another that it¡¯s impossible not to fall in love with them. Best family ever <3
- Isabel and Aiden teaser: Isabel has always been my favorite Ward sister and when that mysterious MMA fighter was mentioned in Focused, I really wanted them to end up together. The second epilogue got me so excited for their book and I love the single parent trope a lot. Isabel and Aiden are going to serve so bad!
Overall Floored was a great and beautifully written story. I loved the development of Lia and Jude¡¯s relationship and the way they supported each other and dealt with their problems was so pleasant to read! They are definitely one of my favorite couples and books from Karla Sorensen and I can¡¯t wait to see what¡¯s next for the Ward family and to read Isabel¡¯s book in June!

Tornano le sorelle Ward, in questo caso si tratta di Lia che ¨¨ a Oxford per un trimestre. Un pomeriggio decide di visitare Londra e per rifugiarsi dalla pioggia entra in un pub. ? qui che conosce Jude un sexy calciatore inglese.
Il mio preferito rimane quello sulla gemella Claire, ma si tratta di una lettura piacevole e non sono mancati momenti emozionanti. Adesso non vedo l'ora esca quello su Isabel, si prospettano scintille

I wasn't invested in Lia & Jude's story. Probably because they weren't together for a good part of the book so, for me, the romance was lacking.

This was so low angst!
this gave me serious baby fever, and the baby is born in the last chapter!
i don't have much to say about this book, the tropes basically describe the book.
* the narrator for the hero... i don't know why, but that voice wasn't sexy! the whole time he was narrating i pictured an old British man.

i don't have much to say about this book, the tropes basically describe the book.
* the narrator for the hero... i don't know why, but that voice wasn't sexy! the whole time he was narrating i pictured an old British man.

This was much better than the first two books in the series. I¡¯m surprised at how much I actually enjoyed it because when I first read the synopsis for each book in this series before starting it, I thought for sure this would be my least favourite cos it¡¯s surprise pregnancy, but here we are with a 4 star rating.
I liked the change in setting and that it took place in the UK. There were a little too many stereotypes for my liking but not too many to make me dislike it all together lol!
As always, I love the sisters relationship. It reminds me of me and my sister and I just love it.

This author's voice isn't for me
I think this is the first time I got lowkey culture shock from a book.
I understand that American football is important to them, yet the American heroine's condescending attitude towards football in England in a pub where a football match is being shown was so unbelievably off putting. She doesn't understand the cultural importance of football all around the freaking globe.
This is what their banter was. Her putting down her host country's national sport while the hero acknowledges the good points and kindly tries to show her football's good ones too.
How is this author going to write a compelling professional football player hero if she has so much disdain for the sport?
I don't know because I won't be finishing this.

Lia Ward is finally in the UK for her a semester but she finds herself spending her free time alone and missing home. A chance encounter at a pub has her meeting Jude McAllister, a British football player ¡ª but Lia didn¡¯t know that. After spending a night together, they part ways and return to their own busy schedules. About a month later, Lia finds out she is pregnant and so she decides to meet up with him again.
After the initial shock, they spend time getting to know each other better. I get why Lia caught Jude's attention. Jude's life was filled with other people's expectations from him, but Lia came into his life without any expectations from him. For Jude, it felt like a moment of respite.
I honestly loved their initial meeting in the book. The chemistry was SO GOOD. Why the 3 stars? Eventually, Lia comes to the realization later on that in the time they spent together, they barely talked about "the important stuff", as she¡¯d call it. That¡¯s what their relationship felt like to me for the most part. At first I was even wondering why I wasn't getting attached with the couple, but then Lia herself pointed that out and gave me the answer. I guess I was looking for more communication considering their relationship and how there's more on the line than just the two of them.
I admire how Lia was mature in handling everything that happened, and that she also knew she had to walk away for a while. The time they spent apart felt needed for their own growth so I felt even more hopeful after seeing their relationship in the latter part once they've reunited.
For me, the Ward family outshined Lia and Jude¡¯s relationship in this book. Every single one of them (Logan, Paige, Claire, Molly, Isabel, even Emmett) had their own moments with Lia despite her being away from home for the most part of the book. Their dynamic will always be a favorite and I still highly recommend this series (+ Washington Wolves!).

American football is rugby with longer plays. Universally no other country calls the American version of football ¡°football¡±. So move on from this resurrected debate. We¡¯re tired! It was the driest foreplay I¡¯ve ever read about.
Good thing the hero is a football player!
This was meh for me.
I just cringe with an American/British coupling. There¡¯s just so much emphasis on the culture shock. Most of the time it¡¯s stereotypical - which this one, is alright. The dialogue is a bit much for me though. I¡¯m so over ¡°love¡± as a British endearment.
Saying that the author obviously did a ton of research so well done!
This book is about a one night stand resulting in a pregnancy. I just felt underwhelmed by Jude. Buckle up man. The constant state of self pity was eye roll inducing. He moves to the States just prior to the birth of their kid to play on a new team.
His parents concerns really didn¡¯t make much sense especially since he introduced them to Lia. I mean he had a girl and is rich? What more could you ask if they thought he was going to f*ck his life away and only make money. To add, he didn¡¯t seem that popular even though he was in the Premier League?
Personally I think they should¡¯ve stayed in the UK for the first couple years. Just because ¡°real football¡± isn¡¯t as popular in America. Especially if he was reaching a peak in his career. She loved English literature so she easily could¡¯ve gone into academia for work. Then they could¡¯ve moved back... But I understood that she wanted her family¡¯s support and comfort.
Fair play to this author though, she doesn¡¯t entertain stupid OP drama in her books.

I love the Ward family and their domestic family moments were really wholesome. This book is about Lia Ward, Claire's twin sister. She goes to England to finish her master's program but she meet Jude McAllister, a British football player and has a one night stand with him. Both of them don't know anything about each other, than just their first names. But, soon after Lia discovers that she's pregnant and their lives are suddenly entwined.
I love the pregnancy trope and all the soft and protective moments that come with it but unfortunately this didn't give me the same buzz. While I liked Molly and Claire's books, this one felt flat in comparison to those. Jude & Lia's first meeting was filled with sparks, engaging banter, tension and chemistry but as the story progressed, that spark kinda died down.
I feel like they didn't get enough time to know each other fully well and both of them were immature at times. Since they were going to have a baby together, they should've discussed their future plans (because Lia was supposed to be in England for just four months) instead they were just avoiding that topic all together and that annoyed me.
Overall, the family moments is what made the book enjoyable for me. Logan & Paige are still my favourite Ward couple and I'm looking forward to read Isabella's story next.

Honestly, this is probably my least favourite Karla Sorensen. Lia and Jude felt a bit superficial as characters, and their relationship reflected that. Admittedly, I'm not the biggest fan of pregnancy trope in general, but honestly I didn't really see their relationship have any emotional connection, it was all physical. Lia read as really young, which I guess she is, but I just didn't believe a lot of what the book was trying to convince me - how mature she was, how she'd be an amazing mother at that age, how she was right for Jude, etc. And Jude was honestly just a bit of a dick - he had a lot of growing up to do and emotional maturity to reach, and I'm not really sure we actually saw him get there.
The whole story just felt rushed, to be honest, and I definitely had to push through this one.

No le tenia demasiada fe a esta novela, no tanto por la trama ( que si me atraia ) sino porque Lia era la hermana Ward que menos me interesaba, no obstante, fue una buena lectura.
La historia tiene un ritmo muy fluido y la verdad es que las paginas pasan volando, atrapa bastante y el estilo de la autora me sigue agradando. Estoy deseando leer el de Iz, creo que va a ser bastante epico.
La historia de amor sigue sin ser la mas romantica o emotiva del mundo, sin embargo, creo que aqui se profundiza un poco mas en su relacion, lo que es un punto positivo.
El libro me gusto y esta saga esta resultando ser muy entretenida, incluso tengo curiosidad por leer la historia de Logan y Paige despues de conocerlos en estas novelas.
En fin, una lectura simple pero muy entretenida. No es un novelon pero se vuelve adictiva despues de unas cuantas paginas.
