After her confrontation with Prince Theodore in the slums, Rishe was finally able to end the feud between him and his brother Arnold. Most people would take a break after an ordeal like that, but Rishe is not most people! So when they return to the castle and Arnold offers her any gift she’d like, it’s not jewelry or trinkets she asks for, but a duel! Later on, another ghost from Rishe’s past arrives in Galkhein. This time it’s the prince of a neighboring country who claims he’s there to congratulate Rishe and Arnold on their engagement. However, Rishe can’t shake the feeling there’s more to his visit than meets the eye…
Continues to be a great adaptation of the light manga. Almost caught up with season one of the anime. If memory serves me correct, this arc is the part of season one.
"The only way to overcome your fear is to face it."
Once again I am amazed at Rishe! She is working through her own fears as well as learning about her desires and abilities, all the while trying to encourage Arnold and show him he is not the person people think he is. Plus, she is encouraging other people along the way too! It's like her original dream to sit around and do nothing is going up in smoke more and more! LOL!
Though I will say that while I knew Arnold was always super intimidating, this volume really showed how intimidating he can be. When he was talking to Prince Kyle, I was shocked at how Rishe didn't shy away from his cold words and that Prince Kyle didn't shy away from his overwhelming aura.
Granted, I know that Arnold has a kind heart because I think as Rishe pointed out, he has always respected her. He never once scolded her for the crazy things she does, but instead supports and encourages her in his own way. I might have been a little nervous about that one thing he said on the balcony, but I do agree with Rishe that it seemed like a plea for help.
That leads me to say that I was excited about how this volume ended and how the next volume will unfold! Plus, THEODORE!! I love it when he and Rishe are in cahoots together because it's always to help Arnold in some way even if it sounds like they aren't. LOL!
A few random things I also want to mention: - I LOVED the scene at the cadet training! - The alchemist was…something else. - The balcony scene was lovely even if it had touches of sadness too.
Overall, another very good volume that leaves me excited for the next one!
"It's okay that you're scared. . . . You went through something terrifying. But even so, you have a dream and you're working towards it."
rishe is definitely a badass. she's using all her past memories and her knowledge to make the situation better for everyone. however, things are changing also. she never had to contact with gunpowder in her past lives, but now, she will have to. her connection with her to-be-husband is very cute as well.
Love this manga also anime one of my favourite scene in this volume is where Rishe tells Arnold that colour of his eyes are beautiful in this world even thought he doesn't belive it.
Delaying gratification until the release of the sixth volume was probably quite exasperating for readers who got this, since this entry into the series builds up for a climax that will only be delivered in the next volume. It's a great sales strategy, but people who don't want to spoil themselves to get their fix were probably impatient to continue. In case it wasn't obvious, that's a recommendation to continue this series.
From the previous volume, Rishe has once again befriended Prince Kyle of Coyolles and become the apprentice of Michel the Alchemist. Once again, she has cemented their affection for her just as she had in the life she spent alongside them. This sets the stage for new conflict on an international stage, since by deciding to marry Arnold, Rishe created a new turning point in the future where these two see and are seen by Arnold. See, Michel has invented a revolutionary new technology, something that in Arnold's hands will result in the destruction of entire existing order of the world, a future even darker than the one Rishe knows. A future she is desperate to prevent.
Rishe's ability to love her friends and teachers is probably one of her greatest strengths and also one of her weaknesses. She forgets that her deep affection for them does not mean they know she knows their secrets. One of the best lines in the manga came from this, when This ability to love is also, without her being consciously aware of it, beginning to wrap itself around Arnold. Perhaps 30% of this volume focuses on the romance, but due to that, it hits more effectively. She is actively seeking to do things for Arnold not only to prevent the war that kills her, but for his sake as a human being. Of course, because Arnold values her freedom as much as she does, and appreciates her for her knowledge and cleverness, it's not a surprise. It's natural for people to respond to affection.
Rishe is also unintentionally hilarious. One of the funniest moments in the manga was when she started calculating how much money she would make if she managed to mass produce a painting of Arnold and Kyle standing next to each other. When asked what she was thinking, her answer is the diplomatic "I'm pondering about a new method to revitalize the economy."
As always, the manga is pretty, especially in the serious moments that happen between Arnold and Rishe. Rishe looks absolutely gorgeous, especially when she delivers her best line of this volume. How can anyone resist her when she says ?
I love the fact that she loves the color of his eyes even more now. Arnold hates his father but he feels like he's just like him. It's in his nature to invade and conquer but what he hates the most is that they share their eyes. When he was younger, he even wanted to fluck both eyes out because they're the same color as his father's. They were a proof that his father's blood run through his veins. Rishe didn't know his father but to her, his eyes were Arnold's own eyes. She loved them and he's so handsome.
My favorite scene was the balcony scene.
The art was still good for being black and white.
All in all I loved Rishe and Arnold's moments but I was almost bored to death with other scenes, like I could care less about Rishe's ex teacher or prince Kyle.
I'd have to say so far throughout this series this has to be my favorite volume. We got such good scenes, foreshadowing, and interactions between the main characters. It makes me question what's gonna happen next and want more cute fluff. So far very much enjoying this series and where it is heading.
the plot thickens.....some light smatterings of romance in this one, but mostly a lot of setup. I'm getting a better sense of Arnold's character and how he could have been so evil in Rishe's past lives...

I loved how we can easily understand the political machinations going on and the plans that is brewing all along. I can't wait for Arnold and Rishe to get married and know more of Arnold's perspectives.
The art is beautiful. But there is a lot of politics happening in this book and two of the characters look a lot a like to me so it was a little hard for me to keep track of who was who. But lol when is she going to lie down ?
A lot of set up here. Michel, the elixir (which confused me a first), Prince Kyle. We learn a bunch about Arnold and how he’s perceived. Plenty of good stuff.
Such a fun series! We're getting into some good good drama with the two leads and perhaps seeing a bit of the ML's true vibes (or not, we'll see I suppose).
