Jacqueline Grey was born in and grew up outside Sydney, Australia, in the beautiful Blue Mountains. After stints as a student, student worker, and church planter, she is (as Dean of the School of Christian Studies at Southern Cross College in Sydney) one of the rising stars of a thoughtful contemporary church tradition. She holds a PhD in Old Testament from Charles Sturt University, and is active both within the broader theological education scene, in the Sydney College of Divinity, and internationally. She is, with Dr Shane Clifton, editor of one of Australia's leading Christian scholarly journals, Australasian Pentecostal Studies.
JACQUELINE N. GREY (Ph.D., Charles Sturt University, Australia) is associate professor of Biblical Studies at Alphacrucis College, the national college of the Australian Christian Churches (AG in Australia). Her publications include Them, Us & Me: How the Old Testament Speaks to People Today (2008), Raising Women Leaders (2009), and Three’s A Crowd (2011) as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters. She is an ordained minister in the ACC and is committed to the mission of higher education in the church through consultation to Pentecostal colleges in developing their institutional goals. Currently Grey serves on the executive committee of the Society for Pentecostal Studies, is part of the steering committee for Biblical Ethics in the Society of Biblical Literature and chair of the APTA Theological Commission. Her research interests include hermeneutics, prophetic literature, and feminist readings of scripture.

This is an excellent and nontraditional introduction to biblical interpretation. Though short and not as in-depth as other works on hermeneutics, for a freshman/sophomore level textbook, it stands out in avoiding many of the pitfalls of the purely cognitive approaches to the subject and balances this with a distinctly affective, personal, and pneumatological approach. Highly recommended, and a fuller review is forthcoming in Pneuma: The Journal of the Society for Pentecostal Studies.
