I honestly don’t have much to say about this book other than it’s simply awesome and the art is gorgeous. The characters of very detailed (especially Yato). Since we are on the topic about Yato, I have several things to say about him. This, I’m going to make it pretty short and simple: 1. Amazing character 2. Extremely hilarious 3. Who can’t love him?? 4. His history hints here and there. We don’t know much about him other than he’s an adorable god who wears a tracksuit and a fluffy, fluff scarf a.k.a. a towel hanging around his neck. And kills gloom but according to that anime they are known as gloom. And kills peo- Me: ......................................................
Also me: WHAT??! Who said that. Well, I did.
It took quite a turn of events, didn’t it? I guess it did.
5. His shiniki, Yukine, is adorable but harsh. I understand the reason for his actions but found the way it was made known to everyone else a little too... dramatic. Not that I didn’t love it (because I did), but it felt rather extra. Still, Yukine is getting there. I have faith in him. ? 6. The God of War is amazing but she needs to quit flashing everyone. I mean, come on. 7. And Kofku, just keep doing you. That other gif is awesome.
That’s really about it. My list pile continue for ages, but I’m feeling lazy right now. :)
Me gustó muchísimo.

Yato seems like a fun guy until you heard the rumors. He is a warrior god. He killed a shinki. He killed humans.
I think the present Yato is a changed god. My guess is that he had done these things but for a purpose. Anyway if you see him he isn't god-like. What I like about him though is that he seems to have lots of secrets. I can't wait til Toka reveals them all. XD
This is a bit more world building and emotional impact than I expected.
With the main idea of the story out of the way we go deeper into why these spirits are dead. I mean his new sword, which is a 14 year old boy, is dead already to be used as a weapon. But why? how did he die? We get clues and we see what happens here after people die and why they turn into these monsters. We also get another god on site. This one, with a big fucking lion as her weapon, want revenge.
This is actually a pretty well written series. While this volume didn't impress me as much as the first I really enjoyed the comedy and emotional bits here. The humor is funny, and there's some great lolz moments. I also think it helps the characters act pretty normal and their dialogue is pretty solid. While I think the actual plot seems to be missing here some, it was a nice overall build up to character development and world building.
The second volume is mostly about Yukine's teenager angst and its effects on Yato. As annoying as he is, I still like Yukine. Here we can easily see that Yato is a very good and patient man (Or God I should say) . And Hiyori is sweet and helpful. I really loved comedic moments and I am also curious about Bishamon...That woman is badass. PS: I also should add that the Art is GORGEOUS!
Chapters 4 to 7 ~~ So the authors did it again. I'm in love. I seriously cannot get enough of it. The plot is original, the characters awesome, and the humour is perfect. Love love love <3
Vol 2 of Noragami does a good job filling out more of the world. We get some of the "rules" of the dead and the gods and a lot more intrigue is introduced. We are meet some of the other gods, all more notable than Yato, and some of their Shinki. This volume is a little less lighthearted, but it's not overwrought. There are simply more things to accomplish here and we are very slowly learning more about Yato's past. This volume really raises more questions than it answers, but in a very reasonable way as it's all setting up the next installment, that if you'll excuse me I'm about to start right away.
I might just have to watch the anime and forget about the manga. The lore stuff is too dense and I feel like the characters are lacking personality outside of their exaggerated archetypes. Perhaps this would be rectified by voice acting and animation? The premise is great and I like the ideas put forth but it feels a little lopsided on the page. As I said in my first review, is far superior.
THEY ARE HERE! In this volume we basically meet all of my fave deities in this series: best girl Kofuku and Daikoku, Tenjin and his girls (including Mayu), Bishamon the Badass and her squad (including the ultimate best boy Kazuma) AND finally - Nora, the most mysterious character in Noragami. As usual with this series, everything is on point and I can’t be more excited to continue.
I absolutely love this series. I fell in love with it when the anime was airing a... while ago, and now , reading the manga as it comes out in English is like my favorite thing in the world. I love the characters, I love the humor, and also Yukine my poor delinquent child oh my god .
Noragami follows a minor god named Yato in his attempts to get enough money to build himself a shrine. Along the way he meets his new partner-in-crime, Yukine, a fourteen-year-old dead boy who's got a few problems, and Hiyori, who he's accidentally caused to be half-ghost, half-human. And... they're just going on crazy adventures together. In this volume we meet a few more gods, and learn about Yato's relationship with them, and it's just phenomenal.
It's also sort of edging into the 'Yukine arc that makes me cry' and so that's happening and because of that I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to the next few volumes because Yukine my poor delinquent child you make so many bad decisions but I feel so bad .
But, yeah - this is definitely a fun manga series with fun characters and oftentimes hilarious dialogue, and I really, really enjoy it.
This manga was so good that I had to go back and drop volume 1 to far stars. It seriously jumped up in quality, and not because of a lack of it in book 1, but because book 2 just added so much necessary conflict that made the storyline and characters so much more interesting.
We have Hiyori, who sticks around Yato in the hopes that he’ll figure out how to fix her “condition” and bring her fully back to the near side. However, as she learns more about Yato, she’s conflicted on whether or not she should trust him.
We have Yato, who is a poor, unknown god trying to rebuild his reputation. He seems both lighthearted and incredibly serious, switching between the two quickly. We know he has a past as a warrior god, and that he willingly hurt others in his past. But we don’t know what the full story of what he did or why.
We have Yukine, member 3 of the trio. He’s a spirit turned shinki of a 14 year old boy. He seems like most teenagers: bratty, rude, and uncaring of others. However, we see glimpses of him as someone who is scared and unsure, and needs guidance, whether he wants to admit it or not.
It’s such a great start for the three of them to form as a group that really loves each other. I’m so thrilled to read the next one.
Who is that woman on the cover with a lion and a whip you might ask. Well let me tell you she appears in the volume and she is a popular Japanese deity so be sure to read (or cheat by looking her up on the internet) for the answer. :)
Tenjin the god of learning is in a tough bind with so many requests he decides to outsource to our favorite slacker god of war Yato to handle some troubling spirits beckoning people to die. Yukine decides to take advantage of his new lot in life and its a real pain in the neck to poor Yato. Hiyori finds out the difference between shinkis and gods when Yato explains the dangers of Yukine giving in to his dark side. We also get a fun scene to introduce Kofuku Ebisu and her shinki that leads to misunderstandings thanks to Yato (he is a funny guy for such a loser.) We also find out a little something about Yato's pass through idle chat in Ebisu's shop before his past finally catches up to him and he has to fight the girl on the cover and she won't be satisfied till he is dead. (Still curious who she is? Better get reading or researching.) :)
My fave part of this volume would have to be when Tenjin loans Yato one of his shinki to guide him to his job and it turns out to be the one he lost in volume 1 after she quit. The advise she gives Yukine is very blunt as is her opinion of her former employee. :)
