Every child in Cypress Landing has been warned about the terrifying monster lurking in the inky tangle of cypress and willow on the edge of town. But sometimes desperation leaves no other choice
When Rorie sees her vicious stepfather commit a horrifying crime, her only hope of escape lies through the forbidden swamp. Hurt and exhausted by her headlong flight, she is terrified when she sees a huge, mysterious figure lurking behind the wraith-like tendrils of Spanish moss.
Yet despite his intimidating appearance, something in his eyes gives her the courage to beg for help. And even though he carries her deeper into the swamp, she feels unexpectedly safe in his massive arms.
Marsh has been alone for as long as he can remember. But the swamp is his home, and he has long since made peace with his loneliness. Until a beautiful, injured woman pleads for sanctuary
As he nurses her back to health, he is enchanted by her innocent smiles and tentative touches. She brings a joy to his existence that he has never known. He will do anything for her - anything except let her go.
This book is part of the Mated to the Monster multi-author monster romance series. All books can be read as standalones.
No lie, I'm pretty sure both Rorie and Marsh and happy Rorie disregarded the warning about staying out of the swamp the night she runs away from her stepfather. Sure, things might have been a little rocky there for a while, but both of them ended up with their perfect other half and I AM HERE FOR IT.
So. Rorie and Marsh. She's desperate and afraid, but not of the gentle swamp monster who appears when she needs him most and tends her. He's half human, half Other and he doesn't quite fit into either world. So he hides himself away in the swamp and ignores his loneliness. You know, until a sweet young woman crashes into his world and ignites all those feelings he's been working at ignoring.
A little danger (Rorie's stepfather and his minions are NOT NICE PEOPLE), some unexpected friendships, complicated family dynamics, a male who is as sweet as he is intimidating, and a lady who sees the good in her monster pretty much from the first. GOOD STUFF!
Honey did it again. I love her short monster romances. Escaping a life of abuse, Auroras only escape from her abusive step father is thru the dangerous swamp. What she finds, or I should say, finds her is not what she expects.
The story will draw you in and give you all the good feels. The angst, the sweetness and the spice.
Thank you Honey for the advanced copy. I will always stop everything to read your books. You write the sweetest story that just make me swoon.
Ugh. How dare you make me like a swamp monster romance so much? I loved the characters and their love developing felt believable. I like the external conflict and the smut was hot. Dang it, I just really liked it.
Monster (swamp monster - half dryad, half man). Virgin FMC. Virgin MMC. Different peen (Thick gnarled length with vines along the base). Massive peen. Caught MMC masturbating. Who did this to you. She touches him while he sleeps. Premature cums (as soon as he enters her). Healing oil. Stuffing/stretching. Realistic first time. No OWD. Some OMD (her stepfather wants to capture her and marry her). No cheating. No breakup. Epilogue 3 month later where they are married and she is pregnant.

This was a quick and fun read I loved how the main characters had to learn at an early age to look after themselves and even though they are from different backgrounds there struggles are the same. Aurora (Rorie) lives with her step father who is very abusive and when she see’s him commit a terrible crime with others she knows she isn’t safe anymore and her only escape is through the swamp but every child that lives in Cypress Landing knows don’t go into the swamp the monster will kill you but she doesn’t care and goes in anyway, now she has injured her ankle and is struggling to keep moving when she notices a strange man comes to save her and for some reason she isn’t scared by him. Marsh is a Dryad/human that lives in the swamp that is his home and at a young age he has been looking after himself and has been happy but when he saves the gorgeous human who is injured he knows she is the one for him and so he takes her back to his home and nurses her back to health and a strong bond grows between and he knows within his heart he will protect her from everyone but he can’t let her go. Rorie is so great full for March’s help and is falling in love with him but she is worried that her stepfather and his friends will find her and kill them both. How does it all turn out in the end, get this great swoon worthy book to find out.

'As he studied her delicate features... something stirred within him. A feeling he’d suppressed for so long the desire for acceptance, perhaps even companionship. Not for a mate - he knew that would never happen - but simply the comfort of another person’s presence. He’d been alone for so long.'
I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. Honey's alien romances will always be my favorite, but I was very excited to read this story as soon as I saw the advertisement. I loved both Marsh and Rorie. Honey just has a way of creating beautiful interactions between human women and non-human males. I find myself completely captivated by them.
I was fascinated by half-dryad/half-human Marsh. I thought him so sweet, caring, and protective, and loved how he helped and took care of injured Rorie. As horrible as abuse is, I love the journey abused characters get in these stories- how they find the strength, confidence, and courage to face and overcome what they've suffered and rise above it, whether over the abuser, or rising above the scars of the experience.

Mated to the Swamp Monster is a wonderful story and this is one author who knows how to get those heartstrings tugging with her exquisite words. MFC Aurora has escaped her abusive stepfather after witnessing a horrible crime he was involved in by fleeing into the swamp at night which is where lonely MMC Marsh a half human/dryad finds her after she injures her ankle. Their story becomes such a sweet and spicy one as they get to know each other bringing love into both their lives. With the threat from her stepfather and his cohorts still looming it is with newfound family and friends they become a formidable team against the real monsters in the world, and of course that epilogue really had me tearing up!.

Another wonderful story about acceptance. I liked Marsh. Having to learn to survive at an early age made him very resourceful. He had everything he needed/ wanted except for one thing he thought he would never have. I like Rorie also. She too had to learn to be resourcedful. Even though the two lived different lives they had similar backgrounds. Their meeting was fate . From there it was destiny. I loved how they accepted each other and how Marsh treated her. Action packed and a clever way of solving Rorie’s problem . Steam to the romance. Also help for an unexpected source or two. I loved the HEA.

This sweet tale is about Rorie and Marsh. Now every child knows how dangerous the swamp is, especially at night, with the monster that lives in it. But she fears what is at home more. Her abusive stepfather's actions drove her from the house and as she walked she came across something she should not have seen. She ran - into the swamp. Marsh senses something wrong and while moving through the swamp he sees her struggles. Sees her fall, hurting her ankle, and sees her struggles to keep moving. That strength drove him to help her. This is the start of their story filled with finding themselves, healing, new friends, danger, and plot twists. A great addition to the Mated to the Monster series.
This story starts out with some major angst as Rorie runs for her life through the swamps. I am a sucker for a female in distress romance where the MMC comes and saves her. Enter Marsh. He is like a mix between a man, a tree, and the bayou. Monster romance isn't usually my thing, but this book was a complete surprise.
Read this book because... **This Swamp Monster will surprise you! Marsh stole the show! **Female in danger is rescued. Love this trope! **This book is quite spicy! **Unique setting with great characters **Really despicable antagonist **Sweet HEA!
Don't miss this fun read! 4 stars and 3.5 spice emojis!
Honey Phillips has done it again. Mated to the Swamp Monster was a great story of personal strength to overcome heartbreaking losses, abuse and prejudice. It’s a very heartwarming story to Rorie and Marsh overcome their individual trials to find each other form a lasting love that allows them to support each other and strengthens their confidence and conviction that while there are bad people out in the world their are also good people who will step up to help you in times of need and may even become new friends. I enjoyed reading Rorie and Marsh’s story and look forward to reading many more books from the Mates to the Monster series.
For being a shorter story, I loved the detail and character development. I didn’t feel like anything was lacking. - Aurora is trying to escape her abusive stepfather and winds up injured in the swamp. Marsh saves her and helps heal her, but he’s not entirely human and assumes she will leave him once she’s all healed. But the heart wants what it wants Yet, Harold, the vile stepfather, isn’t finished with his search for her and is tearing the swamp apart to find her. How can they save themselves and the swamp without making things worse, since Harold owns most of the town? - Spice level: 3.5/5.
I enjoyed the novella very much! Both main characters were sweet. Rorie caring about Marsh even when she was scared of big males, the experience with her brutal and aggressive stepfather leaving her with trust issues and ingrained fear of violence. Marsh deciding to help the small, injured woman even though he was taught by his mother to avoid humans. He was such a gentleman, trying his best not to look at her when he was helping her in and out of a tub and asking her so many times if she was sure that she wanted intimacy with him. Their enthusiasm with having sex all the time when they lost their V-cards was adorable ;)
Rorie and Marsh are so perfect for each other. Rorie is a human girl who has been severely abuse by her Stepfather. She is injured while running from him into the swarm. Marsh is the "Swamp Monster". He is a gentle, lonely soul who finds and rescues her. Rorie is very strong but also very sweet. Their story touched my heart. I can and do fully recommend this sweet story. Honey Phillips did what she does best..she gave us characters we could love while giving us a story to stayed glued to. So very good!
“Thank you for loving me and awakening me into a new life.
A great monster love story with all the feels. Rorie and Marsh make such a sweet and hot couple. Rorie is on the run from her cruel stepfather after her mom dies. Marsh has been alone since age 13 in the swamp. He finds Rorie injured in the swamp and immediately steps in to help and heal her. They deserve every happiness but face danger and discovery! Hope Thorn gets his own story and just loved Jimmy!!.

Connecting with characters is what it's all about. Whether you are escaping a volatile situation or your own loneliness, a book can deliver immeasurable satisfaction. Aurora and Marsh find solace and so much more when he rescues her in the swamps. He recognizes her immediate distress as if it was his own.
The instant connection they feel is magnetizing , uncontrollable, and addictive. Page after page, their chemistry grows.
Another sweet, heartwarming romance, Honey. 💜.

Honey has an amazing ability to make you love the most unusual of characters. This is a shorter read but it hits the ground running and doesn't stop. The couple is truly adorable and they fit so well together. Marsh is a kind of dryad human hybrid of sorts. He has lived pretty much alone all his life yet it does not prevent him from being kind and compassionate. Aurora, or Rorie is actively running into the marsh in the hope of escape. She is running from an entirely human horror. These two definitely deserve to be happy together.
Aurora flees into the swamp after witnessing a murder
Harold her brutal step father is involved in drug dealing and regularly hit Aurora. One night she runs away into the swamp and his found by Marsh the mild mannered swamp man. Marsh is huge but Aurora doesn't fear him. Harold is destructive in his relentless search for his step daughter so they work out a plan to get Harold arrested. Thorn helps his nephew Marsh in getting the evidence to convict Harold the Meth manufacturer. Exciting and touching love story.
This is book 8 Mated to the Monster starring Rorie and Marsh. This one was Uber sweet and totally worth the read. I loved how March is a big old softy and is in awe of Rorie. I loved how brave and strong Rorie is, to survive her past and fight for her future with her monster mate was enjoyable to read. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

Excellent reading! What can I say? I just love this story. A bit out of the ordinary - Marsh and Rosie are quite isolated for most of the story. Marsh is a fascinating being, a combination of dryad and human. I’m intrigued by how he’s learned to care for himself in a very lonely existence. Until Rorie. They make such a sweet couple. I adore them both. This is definitely a ‘must-read. Enjoy - this one made my day!
Rorie is on the run from her evil stepfather. He is mean and cruel to her and was to her mother also. Rich people aren’t always good. She is hurt, cold and exhausted running through the swamp at night. Marsh is an other/human that follows and then helps her. He has only ever belonged with his mother. Who also died when he was a child still. Being not from either world he cannot fit in anywhere but the swamp. They find first with each other that bonds them together.
Aurora is on the run from her abusive stepfather. She runs out into the swamp in the dark. Marsh sees her and watches her, he feels an instant connection with her. When she injured herself he helps her and takes care of her. Sweet, steamy story with amazing chemistry, true love, friendship, danger, suspense and a wonderful HEA.

This is a great book to read. The story line was great and I couldn’t put down the book. Love the characters as well. Marsh and Rorie are both lonely individuals. One who is running away from an abusive situation and one is has been alone with no one but the animals to keep him company. Will they stay together and realize that they may love each other or will they keep silent afraid of being hurt again.
although it was a shorter it wasn't lacking for anything. there was spice, there was story with good development. the characters were cute. i found myself with heart eyes over everything marsh did. he was patient caring and a truly compassionate creature. marsh was the swamp monster who helped Rorie escape her abusive stepfather. she escaped and ran into the swamp fearing her step father more than the actual swamp monster. will she be able to hide forever?
This was a real page turner. I could not put it down. So much action. But the interaction between the Marsh and Aurora is so sweet. There definitely is plenty of heat. I highly recommend you read this enjoyable book. Check out the rest of the books in the series as well.
