In The Plot Twist we find Stevie again, Liv's co-worker from the The Love Interest. She managed to finally get hired in her dream job. Except, on her very first day, she finds that most of the staff at the company is being fired after the company being taken over. And her boss now is no other than her ex boyfriend, Noah, who broke up with her five years before, and consequently breaking her heart when he moved to America.
Stevie is forced to face her past, having to work closely with Noah. To go over every painful moment after he left. Will she be able to understand once and for all why he left? Will she understand him, for his choices? Maybe things were not exacly as she had thought they were...

Victoria Walters has my heart! She is able to address emotions like no others. The way she deals with the pain of seeing the only person you've loved after so many years and the flood of emotion and self-doubt that accompany it, is so sweet and delicate.
This second chance romance is so sweet and painful at the same time, you'll end up feeling the same grief as Stevie's, being scared whether to give Noah the second chance he's been fighting for. Does he deserve it? Did he really love her in the first place? Will she be able to forgive him after five years when she barely managed to forget him?

You'll need to read this little gem when it comes out - on June 19th - to get the answers to these questions. Plus we'll get Liv and Aiden's cameo in it, and you won't regret it!

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for early access to read The Plot Twist By Victoria Walters in exchange for an honest review.

Bad literature alert!
The cover is the best part about this book and I’m 100% blaming it for starting reading this. I could feel the dilettantism coating from the beginning and it was only downhill from there.
It’s like it was written by a person who has never seen or read about a single breakup or about how peopling works in general. I don’t remember the last time I was cringing so hard. Wattpad style, and you know what part of it I’m referring to.
P.S. When you’re trying to shove someone’s words into their face, you don’t do it by starting saying “to use your words…. It’s like telling a joke and explaining it right after - it stops working then.

DNF after 10 chapters. There’s a lot of suffering in the world as is.

I had the privilege of receiving an ARC of “The Plot Twist by Boldwood Books and NetGalley. I have to say I was intrigued by the description of this book! “Ex-boyfriend turned boss, I knew I had to see where this plot went!
Stevie is our career driven FMC, who has just landed her dream job. Noah is our slightly grumpy MMC who is returning to London for a company takeover. Stevie is forced to make the decision to work alongside her ex to keep her dream job. Or leave her dream behind to save her the heartache.
The pace of this book really kept me interested and tuned in. I loved the sub plot of fighting for romance novels respect in publishing. The only part I didn’t love was the miscommunication between Stevie and Noah at times. All-in-all I think The Plot Twist is a great read for anyone! If you need a feel-good romance I definitely recommend picking this up!

side note: this book has one of the cutest prologue and epilogues ever!!! Noah is a man after my own heart!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a copy in exchange of an honest review.

I was SO excited to read this book. The romance sounded absolutely adorable as it was a combination of second chance, workplace romance, and a publishing setting. Unfortunately I felt as thought this novel fell short on all counts.

I love second chance romances because the two love interests tend to know each other very well and already have some sort of connection. I struggled with that throughout this book because the only connection I could feel was that they were both upset about the breakup. Seriously. Nearly EVERY paragraph we are reminded that he broke up with her HORRIBLY. This breakup sounded as though it traumatized our FMC for life and she is unable to think of anything else.

I also struggled because the characterization of our love interests felt incredibly weak. Both of them were somewhat floppy where in one scene they’d be weak and the next they’d be strong and everywhere in between. To preface, I LOVE when characters are strong to the world but open up for just each other. That was not the case here however. It felt like our narrator couldn’t decide on how she wanted to portray the characters. I also think a part of this is that the entire is a tell, not show story. At no point was I immersed in the book because I was told everything and never shown a single scene which completely disconnected me from the writing.

I loved that this book tried to tackle the issue of romance novels being looked down upon and the struggle of romances in the publishing industry (1 of my stars is for that). Again, the execution felt lacking here. There was SO MUCH telling that it felt like a lecture over a story.

Another star is for the emails. I won’t go in depth for spoiler reasons, but the emails themselves were five stars as they had the most entertaining writing in the whole book for me.

A final star for the cover because it is just so cute.

As this is an ARC I hope that most of my issues will be resolved with editing before actual publication.

Happy Release Day to The Plot Twist

The Plot Twist is probably the most inclined romance novel on the publishing industry concept I've ever read so far, taking account that I've read a few already previously. The writing was enjoyable. The same goes with the pacing despite being less than 350 pages.

What I enjoy most in reading this story is, again, its plot, which I was glad that the story did delve more and not just tell but did really show how the whole publishing, marketing, as well issues regarding genre trends, especially the stereotypes on romance novels. I was really immersed in those parts.

The characters were fine as well, although I wish they had more presence, the side characters, I mean, especially Deborah. Nevertheless, the story was still fine.

I also enjoyed the pairing here, Stevie and Noah really had the chemistry. I would say their pairing was cute, especially the bookwoorm bf and bookwork gf going on at the end. That part is satisfying for me considering that I usually avoid anything that is a second chance, so I'm really happy about it. Although I think they kind of lack the tension that I usually want to see. I also wish there were more developments regarding their comeback.

Overall, this was an enjoyable and wonderful read. An immersive and informative, if I say so myself. I'm definitely excited to read more of this author Thank you, Boldwood Books and Netgalley, for the e-arc opportunity

I saw this book was compared to Emily Henry and I would say it is less of a comparison and more of highly influenced by. This felt like Book Lovers x The Hating Game. I love romance books and I've read a ton, but for some reason, this one felt incredibly cliche??? Sappy??? I'm not sure what exactly, but for me it wasn't a fit. Either way, from the setting, to the characteristics of the characters, to the way that Noah is called "the shark," it felt very much exactly like the two books stated before combined. In no way was it bad, but it wasn't for me surprisingly enough and it very much lived up to that "comparison." I think the dialogue was very cheesy as well as the main characters internal thoughts.

I really loved The Love Interest where we read Liv and Aiden's super cute love story. This book focuses on Liv's best friend, Stevie. I just knew she would have a story to tell so I was thrilled to start this book.

I loved every minute of this story, there's the original meet cute moment in a bookshop of all places, there is so much love for books and especially romance books. I was also touched by Liv and Stevie's friendship and Stevies parents are simply the best. Noah, Stevies ex and new boss seems to have that something special I look for in my male love interests and despite the tension to start with I was rooting for Stevie and Noah all the way!

“The plot twist is a second chance, extremely slow burn, very sweet office romance between Stevie and Noah.

I liked this book a lot. I liked that we have a glass-wearing hero, strong London autumn vibes, a publishing house and a bookshop.

I loooooved the e-mails! So emotional!! And their meet-cute is so cool!

The pace was good overall, apart from some repetitions, and I guess I just wish for a little bit of agony. Also, I’m not sure we ever learned what ages our heroes have, and this is something that bothers me in books.

Again, it’s a pity we don’t get even a couple of chapters from Noah’s POV.

The characters from “The love interest show up but it’s definitely not necessary to have read that book before this one (although I suggest you do it because it’s a nice book as well).

I received an advance review copy for free via NetGalley & Boldwood Books, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The story centers on Stevie, who is thrilled to land her dream job until she walks in on her first day and discovers her new boss is Noah, the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart five years ago.

I nearly DNF’d at 50%. The plot became very predictable, relying heavily on the miscommunication trope, which, ironically, the author critiques within the book itself. On top of that, the over-explaining drove me crazy. It felt repetitive, as if the author didn’t trust the readers to pick up on things the first time.

That said, it was an easy, light read, and I did manage to finish it. Overall, it’s a 3-star book for me. Not bad, but not one I’d pick up again.

I'm sorry, but where tf was the plot twist?!

This was so dull, cringe, stupid and the only good thing I can say about it is that I'm glad it wasn't longer.

And it felt pretty ironic that the book points out how people think romance novels can't be great literature, when I thought this one definitely wasn't. At least not to me.

Readers, are you looking for the quintessential romance novel? The one book that will re-affirm your love for the beautiful power of a romance book? Well I have it here, with The Plot Twist. Victoria Walter's newest book is a love letter to romance readers and it needs to be on your Summer reading list!

Stevie Phillips has landed her dream job of working as a publicist for Turn the Pages. She's excited for her first day, but not all goes to plan when she discovers her ex-boyfriend is her new boss! Now to help a mid-list romance author that no-one believes in, Stevie must put her anger aside and try to work with Noah. However, what is the line between love and hate and will they cross it?

Oh Em Gee! I really, really loved The Love Interest. It was a total love letter to Pride & Prejudice fans, and The Plot Twist is definitely a love letter to romance readers. This story centres around Stevie and her romantic adventures. For readers of The Love Interest we do get cameos from Liv and Aiden [swoon!!], but either book could be read as a standalone... although trust me when I say you will want to read both!

My favourite thing about The Plot Twist is it is a bookish book about books....

I'd just had a real life meet-cute. In a bookshop! It was what a romance book lover's dreams were made of.

It also breaks down barriers about what the world thinks of romance books. As an avid reader of romance at least a few times [okay more than that] someone has looked down at me for my choice of reading material. I love romance and I love happy endings, and The Plot Twist shares what is so great about this wonderful genre!

Stevie Phillips is a wonderful heroine. She's strong, smart and independent and was a delight to watch, as she gets so excited about promoting midlist author, Deborah Day. Her energy is simply infectious, and I love the energy she brings to everyone at Turn the Pages.

Best described as sweet and spicy, The Plot Twists brings in toe curling moments with spicy romantic moments, and I loved every second of it! I sure hope there will be more books with these characters, as I just can't get enough of them! Another perfect romance from Victoria Walters!

Note: I received a ARC from the publisher in exchange for a review.

Talk about a plot twist....

The ex that broke my heart 5 years ago, is the new boss of my dream job🙃😳.

This is one of the best romances I've read this year and if you are craving one #ThePlotTwist is it for you coz:
Workplace Romance 💃🏻🔥
Second Chance Romance 🥰
Ex-boyfriend / My Boss 🙈
Bookish FC&MC 📚🤤
He reads Romance 💋
Grumpy X Sunshine 🌞🌑
°ǹ
Short &Faced-paced chapters 😉

Let me give a glimpse into the story:
After working in the library for quite some time, Stevie is ready for her new job the one she's been dreaming about for years to work in a publishing company.
What was supposed to be an amazing start turned out to be a complete disaster 😱.
1:The Publishing company has been bought by an American firm and they're restructuring.
2: They have 6 months to show improvement or it will shut down.
3: The New Boss is My Ex-boyfriend Noah 🤫
And to make matters difficult we will be working side by side on a romance book campaign.
Can it get any worse!!!! Or BETTER actually??? 😉😉😉😉

LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF THIS BOOK❤️❤️❤️
A masterpiece and a great dedication to romance the importance of this genre and how amazing romance books are.
Noah& Stevie's Chemistry was off the chart🔥🔥🔥
The development of the characters was written perfectly.
Loved that it took place in Autumn and my favourite city in the world London.
All the talk about books and romance had me smiling all the time.
I cannot recommend it enough, please pre-order, you will love it.

Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of #ThePlotTwist in exchange for my honest review.

I've read several Victoria Walters books and have loved each one.
The Plot Twist is based on books, the publishing industry, and bookshops, with books at the heart—what more would a bookworm like me want?
Stevie Phillips is nervous about starting a new job. It's the job of her dreams in an established publishing house. When she gets there, she finds most of the staff are leaving due to a takeover and immediate redundancies, and, horror of horrors, her new boss turns out to be Noah Anderson, her ex!
She's faced with a conundrum: leave the job she so desperately wanted or stick it out and deal with the 'uncomfortable-ex' situation.
Chuck in an author described as a diva who Stevie adored growing up, a romance-hating colleague, and the EX, and Stevie has her work cut out.
I was hooked from the off.
I read this in a few hours, as I could not put it down!
Stevie is a fantastic character with passion. Her stance on #RespectRomFic is highlighted throughout the book. Where would we be without romances? How she gathers the troops to stand against those trashing her favourite genre is fabulous. I would have attended that protest if I could!
The simmering chemistry between her and Noah is HOT, too! Maybe don't read this when you have people around. You may find yourself a little flustered during certain scenes, lol!
It was great to get a little update on Liv and Aiden, characters we were introduced to in Walters' previous release, The Love Interest. But don't worry—this is a stand-alone book, though I love it when stories interlink in some way.
Loved it!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

You know fate is playing a nasty game on you when your new boss turns out to be the man who broke your heart.

After landing her dream job at a publishing company, Stevie finds out that her ex-boyfriend Noah is now her new boss. They take on a challenging campaign together while sparks fly and secrets unravel.

I was looking forward to reading Stevie's book after finishing The Love Interest. And it didn't disappoint me. The Plot Twist has most of the tropes a reader could want: meet-cute, grumpy/sunshine, slow-burn, second-chance, and workplace romance.I love the chemistry between the two main characters, as well as the friendship and parental bonds that the FMC has. In addition, the plot is set in the publishing world, which also makes it quite interesting. It made me realize how I may have misjudged the amount of labor authors put into crafting their works and how crucial it is to laying the groundwork for a successful publication. A great team, a lot of work, commitment, and yes—funds—are all needed.

Anyhow, should you need a palate-cleansing read, I highly recommend The Plot Twist. It's a second-chance romance by Victoria Walters, author of The Love Interest. Did she make him grovel? Well, that's for you to find out!

Many thanks to the author, the publisher Boldwood Books for the privilege of reading an eARC of The Plot Twist. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

The Plot Twist By Victoria Walters is an emotionally charged exes-to-coworkers-back-to- lovers romance. It briefly covers the grief and pain that comes with breakups as well as the healing and growth that follows, which is a unique addition to romance novels.
Stevie Phillips gets the job of her dreams just to show up on her first day to find her ex-boyfriend Noah is her new boss, aptly nicknamed after a toothy sea creature for his cold and ruthless demeanor.
She is forced to face him, and their past, or give up her dream job. She won't let him negativity affect her life, not again! So, with her big girl panties on she charges into her new job, determined to succeed and also not let him see how bad he hurt her. Yet, working in close proximity with the man that she once, scratch that...STILL loves makes that a futile feat. The more they work together the more Stevie learn why Noah left and that it didn't have anything to do with not loving her! Some wounds just can't be healed though, can they?
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for early access to read The Plot Twist By Victoria Walters in exchange for an honest review. It was nice to have a book that had some emotional healing and redemption intwined in the plot with the romance.

I am obsessed with this book. As soon as I read the first chapter I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. I found myself just reading and reading.

This book shows relationships of different kinds and how people can come across or can be perceived to others which isn’t a true reflection on them at all.

The mystery behind why Stevie and Noah broke up is so intriguing you just find yourself reading on and on to find out more. Not all wounds and breaks ups can be healed though, can they?

The writing style in this was sublime and if you pick any book up this year it has to be this.

I can’t wait to read more of Victorias books. If you are looking for a second chance romance read then this is the one for you!

This book was so cheesy. The characters and writing had no depth and it was very difficult to get into. It was a cute little romance with a little smut but everything was very surface level and felt immature. It took me way longer to get through this and truly I only picked it up for the cover 😂

What a lovely book! I really enjoyed reading this, eventhough it was so short. A heart-tugging second chance.

I loved that the focus, for once, actually was on the FMC and her life. Her new job, how it goes, friends she makes,... and not just on the romantic relationship with the MMC.

A quote from her mom also made me open my eyes a little more on what a happy ending all can be.
"...you'll find that happy ever after you've been looking for... And maybe that's a person, maybe it's a job or a place or a home - or all of the above - but you will find it."
