Acting isn’t what Eilidh Adair expected. As a kid, she wanted to be just like her famous uncles. But the double-edged sword of fame cuts deeper than expected. Afraid to admit she’s made a mistake, Eilidh is spiraling. The only person who knows the truth is Fyfe, but her childhood crush has developed into a love he won’t return. Yet when she comes home intent on starting over, Fyfe can’t seem to stay away. His confused feelings might just be the end of them. Until a woman from Fyfe’s past abandons the baby daughter he never knew he had.

Now a single father, Fyfe needs support. He just never expected Eilidh to be the one he needed most. Fyfe can’t believe how quickly he falls for his child and how rapidly his world view changes. He’s ready to admit the truth: he’s madly in love with his best friend’s sister. And Fyfe’s done wasting time.

But someone else believes Eilidh belongs to them. Someone who has been watching her far longer than she realizes. Just when she thinks she might have everything she wants, Eilidh finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a person intent on destroying everything she holds dear.

“It was a problem. how beautiful she was.

reading the final installment of The Highlands series was undoubtedly an experience imbued with a bittersweet sentiment. I have followed these characters for a significant portion of my reading journey, and to say that I am attached to the picturesque setting, the Adair family, and each additional character through the books and years is an euphemism. I closed the book with absolute adoration for every part of it—after all, it’s Samantha Young. once again, she has sculpted a mesmerizing novel filled with resentment, a forbidden romance, and just the right amount of suspense to make it impossible to put down.

I had been eager to dive into this book ever since I caught a glimpse of the dynamic between Fyfe and Elidith in the previous installment of the series. ehile I’m typically not a fan of the “brother’s best friend arc, I truly appreciated how the narrative unfolded in this instance. the story beautifully showed, rather than simply told, how their friendship began and evolved. the introduction of Miller to the storytelling further enriched their relationship, adding layers that I absolutely adored.

all in all, it was an emotionally charged book, and the epilogues did little to alleviate the bittersweet feeling that this was the heartfelt goodbye the Highlands deserved.❤️‍

many thanks to Valentine PR and the author for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review

Forever the Highlands is the final book in The Highlands series, a spinoff of The Adairs series. This book is the romance between Fyfe and his best friends sister Eilidh. For years he thought she just had a schoolgirl crush on him, until life circumstances have brought them together.

I really did enjoy this book, this whole series is a great escape from reality. I love the characters she writes and I find her writing so comforting to fall into (mentally). I greatly appreciated the character name pronunciation at the beginning of the book. And I appreciated while this book was slightly angsty that lots of dramas didn't get dragged out longer than necessary.

But I have a major gripe. I have a challenge for Samantha Young in 2025: try to write a book without having a shitty mother. Every book in this series it seems like there's some terrible mother written in and while I am sure there are many bad moms in real life, I'm getting sick of reading about them in these books. That and some editing errors took away from my overall enjoyment.

That being said, I will still read everything and anything Young writes.

From the self-inserted, so-called “nuanced and “two-sided opinions on current global politics to the emotionally stunted manchild of a hero with mommy issues and the pathetic, spineless doormat of a heroine, this story was a train-wreck. This hero redefines the term loser. He’s out there sleeping with anything that moves, fathers a child, rejects the heroine repeatedly, and, when she seems to be moving on or at least trying to, he decides he “wants her. And even after being rejected what does she do? She swoops in to play nanny and offer herself as his free, willing servant because, apparently, self-respect is a foreign concept to her.

The double standards in these stories are appalling. Men like him get to sow their wild oats without consequence, only to settle down with heroines who romanticize being doormats. It’s laughable and far from swoony. And let’s not even get started on the author’s tired, recycled use of trauma as a crutch for the characters and the bombastic plot twists. It’s lazy and outright disgusting at this point. Neither of these characters has an ounce of personality, and I’m officially done with this author and their repetitive, poorly written messes.

Awww, what a lovely end to a heartwarming series! I may have made a late entrance into this series, but I have enjoyed it quite thoroughly. It didn't hurt that I've listened to them all and the narration from Zara Hampton-Brown and Shane East is top tier. The accents... hot damn!

This romance between Fyfe and Eilidh is a slow dance and smoldering burn. Long-time friends from a small town means that they've known each other through thick and thin. Fyfe is basically another brother when they are children, but her crush for him is far from sisterly. If only he would see her that way.

Fyfe is from a broken home and he was welcomed into the Adair family at a young age. Though he has always admired Eilidh, he hasn't let himself go there. The bond with her brother, Lewis and the rest of the family is too much to risk.

When Eilidh decides to end her acting career and move back to her hometown, she can't help but make her feelings known. Fyfe might not think he can love Eilidh like she deserves but he can't let anyone else have her either.

When we throw in a surprise daughter for Fyfe, they spend more and more time together and things just fall in line from there. It was so sweet how everyone just fell head over heels for Millie. She really bridged any gap that was left between them.

I highly recommend this series if you love small towns and Scottish brogues. You will be well served to grab the audio book and get swept away to a small town in the Highlands. Again, Zara and Shane are magnificent and I love any time they pair up for a story.

Oh my heart, what an amazing read! An angsty and emotional brother’s-best-friend, friends-to-lovers romance, this is such a beautiful story! Two amazing characters on their own incredible journeys fight hard for their happy ending in an intense and chemistry-filled, slow burning love story, I was completely swept up in this story and I loved every minute of it!

This is the final book in The Highlands series, which is a spin-off from The Adairs series. You don’t need to have read the earlier books, but of course you’ll definitely be more invested if you have. I adore both of these series, and I feel like I’ve watched little Eilidh grow up since she was introduced as the young daughter of Thane Adair, so it feels like full circle that her beautiful story finishes off this world.

Eilidh has achieved her dream of becoming an actress and is living in London as the star of a popular TV show. But fame is not all that she expected and she’s struggling to cope with it all and is wondering if she’s made a horrible mistake. When she needs help, Fyfe, her longtime crush and best friend of her older brother, Lewis, is there for her and becomes a lifeline in a difficult time.

Fyfe had a hard life, ignored and ultimately abandoned by his mother, Lewis and the Adairs are the only family he has ever known. Despite his difficult childhood he is a good guy who has built a successful business and leads a good life, but he carries baggage and avoids relationships, preferring casual hook ups that avoid emotion. Fyfe is aware that Eilidh has feelings for him, and though he has a soft spot for her, he’s kept his distance, knowing that she’s off-limits, and not wanting to hurt her in any way.

I loved Eilidh.
I just wasn’t capable of loving her the way she loved me.
She deserved more than I could give.

This book takes us back in time a little bit to watch the development of Fyfe and Eilidh’s relationship. Their friendship is complicated by Eilidh’s unrequired love for Fyfe, and his attraction to her that is a growing impossible for him to ignore. It’s angsty and intense, and the sexual tension is sensational as we watch their relationship shift and change as they work to figure out their lives and their feelings for each other.

I wanted someone to love me enough to want to fight to be with me.

Their situation comes to a head when Eilidh returns home to the Highlands. She wants a fresh start and she needs her family, and Fyfe is a big part of that. With them now in close proximity, their relationship continues to be a bit of a rollercoaster, and I was so invested in them. My heart ached at what they were both going through, and their confusion over their feelings and their situation, but even with all the difficulties and all that is happening in their lives, Fyfe and Eilidh are there for each other in all the ways, and I loved seeing them support and care for each other through such huge lows and highs.

“It boggles my mind that you could imagine a man would ever be settling for you. Don’t you know how spectacular you are, Eilidh Adair?

OMG, I am usually all about an epic romantic hero, but it was Eilidh who stole my heart in this book. The strength that she shows is just incredible. Firstly, to follow her dreams, then to realise that it wasn’t what she wanted, and to take active steps to change her situation. She loves Fyfe unconditionally, and I was amazed by her bravery in putting herself out there for him, and so impressed with how she viewed her situation and how she worked so hard to find her happy place.

Not to be overshadowed in any way, Fyfe shines as a damaged hero who is figuring himself out, dealing with his issues and fighting for his happy ever after. It’s a beautiful journey for as we watch him watch him learn how to love with an open heart, he grows so much, and I adored his story and the way his character developed.

“I am done taking you for granted, Eilidh Adair, he whispered in my ear. “I know the woman in my arms is the most extraordinary bloody woman I will ever have the good fortune of knowing. I promise to never let a day pass without making you feel special as you’ve made me feel all these years.

And every moment of the pain is so worth it to watch them work through it and find their way forward together, because when the long-awaited love story finally came, I was in romantic heaven! Every moment of the build-up creates an epic love story for these two and it’s sexy, intense, playful and beautifully emotional, and I loved seeing these two finally find their way to each other.

“I’m pretty much as in love with you as a person can get.

The extended Adair family and friend group all appear, and I loved seeing them again. This is a tight-knit bunch, and the strong connections and themes of family are beautifully written, with scenes that melted my heart. I loved Eilidh’s protective uncles, and her relationship with her parents and siblings is so, so special. There’s even an extended epilogue which gives us a glimpse into the worlds of each of the couples from the series from the hero POV and I adored getting to see everybody again as they are living out their HEAs.

This is such a beautiful read. An emotional and engaging love story that made me feel so much, I adored these characters and couldn’t put this book down, finishing it on the biggest high. It’s a fave for 2024.

5 huge stars.

3.5 stars. Forever the Highlands is the 6th and final book in the Highlands series, which is so bittersweet! I have loved this series, the characters, and all the time we’ve got to spend with them! This one is a small town (Highlands setting like all the rest), brother’s best friend, friends to lovers, romantic suspense, single dad (a surprise to him), found family.

Eilidh is Fyfe’s best friend’s sister and has been off-limits for years. Which was no problem with her being a famous actress in London and him running his cyber security company from the Scottish Highlands. That is, until one day when she reaches out asking for help from her childhood crush.

I wasn’t as invested in the couple in this book like I have been for other couples in this series. But I really did like how this book is about learning to love yourself, being kinder to your self, and the characters accepting that they’re worthy of love. Eilidh is an Adair, so we see a lot of tie-in moments with the Adair series by this author (it connects with this Highlands series). I liked how we got lots of moments seeing the characters and couples throughout the series in this final book!

The audiobook is narrated by Shane East and Zara Hampton-Brown, two of my favorites and just such a fun way to read this one. I received an audiobook ALC, all thoughts in this review are my own.

4.5 'Forever home' Stars!

Today Samantha Young releases what probably is one of her most expected releases this year. The woman has been teasing us about these two in several books so we have all been waiting for Eilidh Adair and Fyfe Moray’s love story even though that means we are arriving at the end of a beloved series. I am always sad to say goodbye to characters that have been living in my head for a time but, as always, Samantha did a wonderful job giving us a beautiful end to this series.

So, Forever the Highlands is the sixth and final installment in Young’s The Highlands series and, as I said, it’s the journey to happiness of Eilidh Adair and Fyfe Moray. It’s now time for Eilidh to find her true desires in life, including a job she truly enjoys and the man she has loved since she was a child. Eils has been going through some difficult times due to her fame and Fyfe has just found out he has a baby daughter so a romance between them is not going to be easy. But their connection is so intense that all the obstacles turn to ashes.

My goodness, this man could tear me up. Knowing he cared this much was torture because it made me hope for more from him.

I love the kind of feel that a love story has when one of the characters has been crushing on the other for the longest time. I love that longing and the feelings it brings to the evolution of the relationship between the main characters. This is exactly what happened with Eilidh and Fyfe for me. I loved the slow burn and also reading when Fyfe finally decided to fight for what he feels for his best friend’s sister. Also, I loved the found family troupe together with Fyfe’s adorable daughter and the interactions with the rest of the crew. I found this novel the perfect way to end the series!

“I am done taking you for granted, Eilidh Adair, he whispered in my ear. “I know the woman in my arms is the most extraordinary bloody woman I will ever have the good fortune of knowing. I promise to never let a day pass without making you feel as special as you’ve made me feel all these years.

So, I am rating Forever the Highlands with 4.5 STARS because I just really enjoyed finally getting to know more about Eilidh and Fyfe and the development of their much-awaited love story. It was worth the wait and I have to confess that epilogue was such a beautiful way to end everything, especially reading about all the couples in the series. So, if you haven’t read this or the Adair Family series yet, I highly recommend you do, especially if you are a fan of Samantha’s writing!

Fyfe Moray didn’t have great memories of his childhood. He practically raised himself, and his teen years were rough. His only real family was his best friend Lewis Adair. He left for college where he created an online game that gave him financial independence. Now he owned his own cybersecurity company. He never planned to return to his hometown, but had been back in the tiny village in the Scottish Highlands for about two years. Life is good, and then the unexpected happens and his world is turned upside down. When his best friend’s little sister, Eilidh comes to his rescue they grow close. She’s always been completely off limits, but he can’t deny his attraction. He’s never shared this kind of connection, and their friendship has become important. She makes him feel seen, and matters to him.

Eilidh Adair is a famous actress living in London chasing her dreams of being a movie star. She’s been acting since she was fourteen, but her public persona had lately become overwhelming. She felt on edge, isolated and missed her family. She just wasn’t happy anymore, and wanted a fresh start. To go home to Ardnoch and rediscover herself. When she crosses paths with her old crush he’s still just as gorgeous. She forever thought Fyfe was amazing and enjoyed shamelessly flirting with him. Over time their relationship evolves, and they become each other’s confidants. He made her feel special, but could she trust him with her heart?

Forever the Highlands (The Highlands Series, book 6) by Samantha Young is the final book in this fantastic series. It’s a heartwarming, small town, brothers best friend, single dad, found family, forbidden, friends to lovers romance full of danger, suspense, mystery, drama, emotion, chemistry, fabulous banter and beautiful connections. I really loved these characters and this world! I will miss the Adair family, but sure adored the epilogue! <333

Eilidh + Fyfe

Eilidh has been in love with her brother's best friend for years.
She went away to become a famous actress but that life is not her future. She wants to come back home and that's where Fyfe is now too. Back home in Ardnoch. He's been in love with her too for a while now. But he just can't be with her. He thinks he's not good enough for her. And he can't date his best friend's sister! Right?
But when things in his life take a very unexpected turn, Eilidh is there for him and it is so hard to try to stay away from her.

The second book in Sam's Highland next generation series and the final Highland series book ever!
I loved this!
Poor Eilidh is so unhappy in her lonely life in London. Acting is not what she always dreamed it would be. She hates the social media comments and all the hate she gets for a role she only plays on TV.
And then she's also been unhappy in love for over a decade. Fyfe and her whole family always thought she only had a kiddie crush on her brother's friend. But it was so much more. And now they're both back home. It could become something more now, right? But ugh. It's not as easy as that.
We get some very dangerous and suspensy moments and so many very adorable baby moments.
I just adored this final book in the Highland series. I especially loved the very end with all the... nope... not telling you!

And now I'm just quoting my previous reviews: from the covers to the final words ... Sam's Scotland books are just beautiful! Can't wait to see what she will have for us next!

FOREVER THE HIGHLANDS was the perfect final book in the beautiful Highland Series!
Sweet and funny and sexy and suspensy and dangerous and emotional and just adorable!

Thank you to Samantha Young for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

All the stars. I can’t even put into words how much I loved this book. The Highlands will go down as one of my all time favorite series, and I can’t think of a better way to close out this chapter than with Fyfe and Eilidh’s story. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I really love how this book focused so much on Eilidh and Fyfe’s history and the guiding of their friendship/relationship. We got to watch as they dug themselves out of the trenches and both grew into fantastic people. Fyfe’s journey absolutely broke my heart. He deserved so much love and I loved watching him find that with Eilidh and Millie. Watching him grow as a father and a partner was beautiful. Eilidh’s story is close to my heart. Hating yourself, wanting to find yourself, and the pressures that come with that are all too real. I loved that we got to see how she battled this, how she leaned on her family, and how she accepted the help she needed. She was such a loving mother to Millie and I loved seeing her bloom in that role. Eilidh and Fyfe are the perfect fit for one another and I love their relationship so much. They were both so real and so raw and so human. Their struggles and their triumphs just felt so real; I loved it so much. I love that we go to see so much of the other couples in this book. The found family (and actual family for that matter) element in this series is just so good. I could read about them and their stories forever. The epilogue was beautiful and perfectly closed out Fyfe and Eilidh’s story. The surprise second epilogue was PERFECTION. I love that we got a little more of all of my favorite couples. Overall, I loved this book. No notes.

"I loved you as a kid and then fell in love with you again when we became friends as adults."

The Highlands series has been such a joy to read and listen to the love stories of each couple. Especially when we got to visit second generation characters like Eilidh Adair. She may be the younger sister of Lewis Adair, but she made a name for herself by leaving home and becoming a successful actress. Only thing is, her success didn't bring happiness. Something was always missing. She missed home, her family, but most of all, she missed her brother's best friend, Fyfe Moray.

Fyfe is a complex character that was hard to pin down. He basically raised himself as a child and knows what it feels like to be left. To not have anyone to depend on. And when push comes to shove, he knows he has friends, but never anything that really can keep him grounded and a reason to really commit. Even when Eilidh was there for him as a friend when he needed it most and shared in secrets, he wouldn't allow more. But then a trip to London just may change both of their worlds. Or not.

I love how Samantha Young brought us back to the past to show us the history between Fyfe and Eilidh in Forever the Highlands. It allowed us to see the friendship that grew and evolved over time. You can feel not only a friendship but a true appreciation of love and support. Even when Fyfe didn't want to admit it. And in turn, that gave me just enough of that chemistry that vibrated so strongly until it exploded without even a touch...

"Eilidh, we're standing in my living room, I'm hard, you're wet, and we haven't even touched each other. I'm pretty sure when we have sex, it'll blow our f*cking minds."

But Fyfe definitely put poor Eilidh through it and boy did I want to wring his little neck a time or two. lol. Luckily, something unexpected is dropped at his doorstep and it allowed him to totally do a 180 when he realized that he truly was surrounded by love and family, because that's what the Adairs are. FAMILY.

Forever is a beautiful story of family, suspense, drama, forever love, chemistry and a true sense of belonging. Your heart will have you all over the place, but it will settle right where you need it and make you feel all the things. You will fall in love with the last couple and be so thankful to see past characters make an appearance. It is truly bittersweet to have this series come to an end, but that extended epilogue will have you smiling from ear to ear.

Sobs in gush...

The end has come and it was everything I needed and wanted. This series has been 100% comfort to me and Eilidh-Fyfe were a striking couple to lead this finale. Teenage crush, friends, not friends, friends to more was a ride that undulated well into their final position.

The romantic suspense in this one was perhaps generally a bit lower stakes overall but had moments of peak intensity where my adrenaline shot up. There were two really fantastic twists in the book that totally surprised me.

Eilidh wasn't the shallowness I saw in snippets in previous novels, she's homesick, career-sick and Fyfe -sick. I really enjoyed her character growth. I might have wanted to smash some sense into Fyfe at times because mixed messages were not it. Their coupling was worth it. There's never a rush in these books, couples take their time to grow attachments.

"There was still an emptiness in me. It had a name, Fyfe Moray."

This final installment was a bit more family-centric than the others and I basked in the characters I knew on page. Bless Samantha Young for those epilogues because it finished this series in style and warm fuzzies.

If you've not started this series, it is now complete for you to binge, go read!

Thank you to the author for the review copy.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

I received this ARC having read only one other book in this multi-generational saga and I loved everything about it. From the suspenseful plot to the romance and the setting, this book kept me up past midnight, wanting to read more. I didn’t want the story to end!

As I previously mentioned, I’ve only read one book in this series but as soon as I started Forever The Highlands, I immediately felt the connection between all of the characters. I’m not unfamiliar with Samantha Young’s writing.it has been years since I read her On Dublin Street series. Coming back to her books (and especially Scotland), I felt like I was coming home. Which makes sense given the stories of “found family told in this book and seemingly throughout the series.

Eilidh (thank you for telling us how it’s pronounced 😂) had always had a teenage crush on Fyfe, having grown up together with him as her brother’s best friend. As they got older, their friendship matures and grows into something beautiful. However, Fyfe has many issues to overcome, and given his past it’s completely understandable. When he gets the surprise of his life, I loved how Eilidh was not only there for him, but brought in her entire family to help. The plot twists and mystery woven in the story not only kept me on the edge of my seat, but it revealed more of the strong knit community that the Adairs have.

I’m sad this was the last book but it makes me even more excited to dive into the original Adair family series and the rest of the books in this spinoff series. I can already tell I’ll love them all.

This is the final book in this series. And while friends to lovers is not always my jam, this had the added element of being her brother's older best friend. It added a bit of forbidden element that kept them apart.

The suspense element was good, and I enjoyed the audiobook.

Thank you Samantha Young for the #gifted alc to listen to.

When I tell you I screamed, immediately paused my current listen and devoured this book. I mean I did exactly that. I love this series. And I’m crying that it’s over.

Expect 👉🏼 Scottish Highlands (small town), Brother’s Best Friend, Friends to Lovers, Single Dad/Nanny, Secondish Chance, Romantic Suspense

Fyfe has been Eilidh’s dream since she was a tiny thing. He’s always been the one for her but he’s never allowed himself to look at her that way.

I’m not kidding when I say the angst in this book almost had me in tears. My eyes were burning. I was in agony over Fyfe’s past and how big he loved when he let himself.

Watching Eilidh grow up had been such a gift. I love the way she loved Fyfe unconditionally and that she saw so much deeper than anyone imagined.

Their slow burn spice was puuuuuuurfect! I love them so so much.

I could live in this series forever. If Samantha goes back, I’ll just be over here packing a suitcase so I can come along for the ride.

If you haven’t started this series yet, you are missing out.

You can start with Here With Me or Beyond the Thistles (spin off/continued series). DM me. I LOVE to talk about these books 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Samantha, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for this world, these characters, and for giving me a piece of Scotland to live in my soul 🫶🏼

What a perfect way to end this series!🫶💜👏✨️😭

Every time I look at it, I feel like I’m on the banks of a loch with no one else around. Utterly at peace because everything will turn out all right in the end.

While Eilidh was talking about something else here, that is precisely how I feel when reading this series. 🥰😭

While a part of me got soo used to having a new story in this world every few months and I feel so invested in the entire group, the Highlands literally feel like home to me and this family is just so realistic it's like they are my true cousins living in another country, I'm also happy the Adair/Highlands saga concludes now, here. With everyone happy, living their lives, moving on from the drama, scandals and heartbreak they each had to face in their own stories, growing their families and having each other. I loved getting cameos from to many OG characters and updates about where they are in their lives now.

It's bittersweet but happy. I haven't been so emotional reading one of these books since book 3 in the Adairs!

The way Eidiligh and Feyfe's story developed, having some things coming full circle and reminescent of the events in the other couples' lives was amazing. The plot, the love, the baby, the found family, the acting... everything, perfect.👏

Eidiligh's character development was the best and most inspiring. Very much talented and fun like her uncles in the OG Adair family, but with the same big heart and love that called her home to Ardoch too. This is where she found her footing again, when she got away from media drama and was surrounded by people who loved her and found her career spark again.

And then her relationship with Feyfe... 😭🥹

I just loved how she always SAW him, understood and cared for him, since she was a little girl and he was just his brother's best friend who was lonely and who they welcomed into their family.

And Fyfe... sigh. Despite his past and struggles, he was so strong, resilient and there for everyone. He never allowed himself to see Eil more than a friend and his friend's little sister... Until he couldn't. Until she became everything he wanted and needed. Until she became, in his own words, "essential".

Their relationship development was a bit rocky, but I loved how she never gave up on him and her love for him, how she was there for him and then his daugther and how everything progressed naturally and beautifully. It was tender and intense.

I'm still emotional thinking about it all. I will have this series close to my heart forever. Just like the title suggested. 🥰

Big love and thank you to Sam for the adventures, the writing, the Adairs &co and the early copy. 🫶🫶🫶🫶🤗🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

“Now f*cking kiss me and tell me you love me.

"...he watched me in that same way as before. With a possessive tenderness that reflected what I felt for him."

"I (...) considered how different life was now. How just a few short years ago, I’d felt so lost, wandering the world without an anchor. Because it was here. With Fyfe. In the Highlands. Waiting for me to find him. To find myself.
To find our forever together."

This was such a perfect ending to one of my favorite series of all time, Forever the Highlands indeed 🥹❤️ Eilidh and Fyfe were the perfect couple to cap out this series, their story encapsulated everything I have loved about this series since book one. It was angsty, sexy, tender, heartwarming, suspenseful, dramatic and emotional. You also get plenty of time with the families we’ve come to know and love throughout the series and I am so sad to say goodbye to everyone. The second epilogue may hold me over for a bit but no one does a gorgeous setting, a swoony romance and suspenseful situations quite like the author does, this is another must read!

KU. Jan. Reads. Contemporary Romance. Tropes: Best Friend's sibling, Family/Friends, Scottish Romance, Romance Mystery. (Best Book Covers for the entire series)
MC's h. Eilidh Adair, 28, actress, aspiring screenwriter, sister to Lewis and Morwenna, parents Thane and Regan Adair. H. Fyfe Moray, 30, owns cybersecurity company, best friend Lewis, lives in Ardnoch.
Comments: This love story was similar to Lewis and Callie's as the couples relationship went back and forth over time. There was a lot packed into this last book in the series and the epilogue was epic with a bit about every story in the series. I rated this 5 stars.

"I’m pretty much as in love with you as a person can get."

I was SO excited to finally get my hands on Eilidh and Fyfe's story, the little hints about them in Northern Twilight really caught me. And this was so worth the wait! Samantha Young is such an insta-buy author for me, I knew she was going to hit this one out of the park

Eilidh and Fyfe both have some decent personal growth here, before they even begin their true relationship. Eilidh has started a career as an actress, only to discover it's not everything she always thought it would be. But she's too scared to quit, thinking she'll be a failure if she retreats to the Highlands and her family.

Fyfe had a tough childhood, with a single mom who had addiction troubles and was basically supporting himself, until sixteen when he actually started supporting himself. His mother's abandonment has obviously left him with scars, and he's too scared to get close and trust anyone.

I really loved the underlying friendship between these two. They had such a draw towards each other and some really great natural chemistry. Fyfe didn't think he was worthy of Eilidh, and was scared that if he grew too close, she would abandon him too. But he couldn't help but want to be her friend, to be a shoulder for her to lean on.

I do wish we had gotten some more domestic moments between these two. There was such buildup to them finally getting together, and with the background suspense plot, it felt like they finally cemented their relationship and then we were at the epilogue.

This does have a very cute series of epilogues, for all our main couples in the Highlands series. It's such a good sendoff, especially for the earlier couples who got their happy endings years before Fyfe and Eilidh's story takes place- really made me want to go back and read them all!

What to Expect:
- Small Town (Scottish Highlands)
- Brother's Best Friend
- Forced Proximity
- Single Dad
- Surprise Baby
- Return to Hometown
- Slow Burn Romance
- Romantic Suspense
- Found Family

Forever the Highlands is the perfect end to a perfect series. I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the Highlands for Fyfe and Eilidh's slow-burn romance. Eilidh, now a successful actress, returns to her family in Ardnoch to recover from the pressures of her career and social media scrutiny. Fyfe, a cybersecurity business owner and Eilidh's brother's best friend, faces his own challenges, including being abandoned by his mother and unexpected fatherhood, which Eilidh helps him navigate.

Fyfe and Eilidh have a long-standing friendship and have always been there for each other. Their journey has many ups and downs, and they really struggle with their feelings for each other. Things were so incredibly complicated for them, but I was completely invested in the development of their relationship. Fyfe and Eilidh's evolving relationship, from childhood friends to something deeper, showcases their undeniable chemistry and the healing power of rekindling old bonds.

Forever the Highlands has the best of everything, including a bit of suspense, complex characters who experience significant growth, and emotional depth that makes them easy to root for. The found family element is well-written. The love and support provided by the Adair family warmed my heart. The extended epilogue beautifully ties together the ends of various characters' stories throughout the series, providing a satisfying closure that revisits and celebrates each couple’s journey.

Narration:
Zara Hampton-Brown and Shane East perform this audiobook using dual-style narration. Once again, they delivered phenomenal performances that amplified the story's impact. They are the perfect voices for Eilidh and Fyfe. Zara and Shane brought the characters to life, and I felt every single emotion. This audiobook was amazing, and I highly recommend listening to this story.

Thanks to Samantha Young, Must Love Audio, and Lyric Audiobooks for the gifted audiobook. Opinions expressed are my own.

Look this is like any of the series floating out there where there is a fun love story within a convoluted group of acquaintances, the storyline somewhat repetitive, but you keep coming back because you know it will be enjoyable, even if it is somewhat expected.
There are no real mysteries as to what is going to happen or what direction the book will go in, it is all in good fun. I think I keep coming back to this more than any other of similar standing because it is in the Scottish Highlands and that appeals to me greatly and because I have listened to these as audiobooks, the Scottish accents makes it all the more appealing.

This one is actually among my favourites. I just wrote a review expressing how little I care for the pregnancy trope, but whatever happens in this one, is not that. It is better and not the right trope anyway. Super cute characters, good story and fun little end (I think) to the mix of craziness that is this family and town.

🔥 My thoughts:
I absolutely love Samantha Young’s series. I already read her On Dublin Street series and LOVED it. So I was head over heels when I received the ARC for Forever The Highlands. It is the 6th book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone.
You know whenever you pick up a book and the first couple of pages are so good that you just know this book is going to be amazing? Well, Forever The Highlands is amazing! It’s a story that literally sucks you in and you just cannot put it down. Eilidh and Fyfe were childhood friends with a special connection. Despite being her brother’s best friend, she was the one that truly saw him from the start. As they grew up, they lost touch. Eilidh distanced herself from not only Fyfe but her whole family, as she worked to fulfill her dream of being an actress. But once they reconnected, the chemistry was just there. This story was full of drama, suspense, will they, won't they, and oh my goodness was it a page turner. Do yourself a favor and read this book and series!!!

i'm sure by now that EVERYONE is aware of how much i adore @authorsamanthayoung, but if you haven't heard, i love love loveeee her books so much. even though each story is a little different, every book she's ever written has brought me so much comfort and happiness. whether there's a serial killer running loose or just a grumpy scot involved, i've found every book in this series to be so cozy and enjoyable. this book was the hardest read yet since it meant bidding goodbye to the adair family, but it was still such a stellar story!

fyfe & eilidh's story was just as angsty and heart-wrenching as id hoped it would be. it was also impossibly sweet and tender, and just a full-circle moment back to the start of this series (regan & thane's book!) in so many ways. although reading 'the end' was such a bittersweet moment, i can't imagine a more fitting end to the series than this beautiful story! and it was just as perfect as an audiobook too!!
