Creepin U

Penn & Inkubus

Rate this book
You’re formally admitted to Creelin University—known locally as “Creepin U. The only things wilder than the monster shifters prowling around campus are the spicy male-male love stories unfolding between classes. Penn & Inkubus is book four, starring an Inkubus and his journalist friend who feeds him. Each book is a stand-alone M/M spooky romance, but we hope you enroll in them all.

Penn

I'd been curious about monsters my entire life, so when the opportunity to attend Creelin University came my way, I knew I had to take it. And that's where I met him - the most perfect looking human I'd ever seen.

Except that he's not a human. He's an incubus, and we both write on the school paper together. I knew I wanted to get to know him the moment I saw him, and when I noticed he wasn't looking great, I took my opportunity.

I volunteered to be his feeder.

My initial curiosity may be getting sated, but I'm left with more questions every day.

Cam

I've always been a little different than everyone else in my family. We're all monsters. We're all the same kind of monster, but unlike them, I don't like having multiple feeders. Which worked for me, until the feeder I'd been using since the hunger awakened was no longer available to me.

When my new friend Penn offered to fill the spot, I almost said no, but I was kind of desperate.

But he's awakening a different kind of hunger in me the more I get to know him.

Penn & Inkubus is a low angst friends to lovers monster romance set at a university where monsters and humans mingle and fall in love.

We know timing isn't right (Maybe one day) / 'Til then, steal me a free weekend / You're my complicated friend (Feels Right Carly Rae Jepson).

Hey, how’s it going? I hope you're good. Personally, I’m okay, but there’s a lot on my mind right now, like, isn't it always the worst thing ever to talk about a book after finishing it? #relatable! No, but really, what do I say? What can I say!?!? So, what did I think of Penn & Inkubus, you’re wondering? Honestly, your guess is as good as mine, because the only thing that’s coming to mind right now is a resounding, man, am I glad I’m not reading this book anymore, which isn’t really all that fair to this book because I wouldn’t go as far as to say I hated it, and there’s actually a lot here that I kind of liked, even! But I can’t help but feel like my only take away from it is that man, am I glad I’m not reading this book anymore. Maybe I bit off more than I could chew because I somehow ended up reading five of these Shirtless-Man-Books all at once, and after a while I feel like they’ve all ended up mashing together into some monstrous thing like I was playing Katamari. Anyway, I picked this book up because I thought the whole “monster school thing would be cool and that we’d get to see a bunch of weird and quirky inversions of real world college life, but I’m sad to report that this book was an absolute disappointment in that regard. Sorry to be so blunt, but Penn & Inkubus is basically just the usual kind of horny college romance book with a slight dash of supernatural so it can slap the “fantasy label on it and call it a day. It didn’t help that there’s basically no conflict whatsoever and everybody is super nice and supportive and sweet and, and, and I felt a little sick every time I finished a chapter. It’s made even worse by the fact that this super interesting premise could have easily been a home run for me had it actually taken the time to explore some of its rather bare bones world-building in more depth. When you've got a fantasy school type setting, I can't stress enough how important it is that you infuse the setting with a sense of wonder and awe! Transport us to another world. Throughout this entire book, I had absolutely no idea what anything looked like or where anyone even was! It's a monster school, come on!!! I often go on and on about how I’m a huge fan of stories about nothing because Ari & Dante and Circe are a some of my favorite books, but after reading this book, I realize I should probably stop saying stuff like that. Penn & Inkubus really made me reflect on my life! Because things do happen in those books! Characters with a character arc, a story with a story, and they even have revelatory revelations and all that. Cool, I'm a big fan of those things! Penn & Inkubus however? Now here’s a book where nothing happens. Every time I thought there would be some kind of anything, the book would go Groundhog Day mode and reset itself so that it could remain a cute love story or whatever.

The human character, Penn, is a writer for the college newspaper and is tired of being given the dry stories (like writing about the school's parking) and is yearning to really make his big break and write about the juicy stuff. So, it stands to reason that after starting his situationship with Cam, he begins reporting about Cam’s “race in his news stories. And you see where this is going, right? I totally thought this would be the set up for the main conflict in the story! Like we’d get a 27 Dresses kind of thing where Cam would find out that Penn’s been penning stories about him in the paper and feel betrayed and used. Then queue the third act break-up followed by big reunion and declaration of love via flash mob or blimp or whatever. And yeah, we've already seen this shit a million times before, but since this book seemed so hellbent on being a generic romance story, then why not add a few generic tropes? At least then something would be happening! It just sucks because even the fact that Cam is an incubus didn’t really make waves the way I thought it would. The basic premise is that his race needs to feed off of lust in order to “eat and survive, but Cam’s thing is that he’s all about that monogamy, so when his guy, his dude, ends up moving away, he’s in a bit of a pickle, walking around hungry all day and shit. This sounds like it’d be an interesting angle to explore, but instead of this plot line being something new and unique, it kind of just felt like a vampire story in that regard. A monster depriving himself from his nature in the name of some lofty ideal like love? It’s a classic vampire story! He’s a regular Alduin from Skyrim... who's a dragon and not a vampire. Never mind, it's a classic dragon story? And hey, all of this could have been a wonderful foundation to start with (When the bones are good, the rest don’t matter), but in order for this to work, the romantic-interest has to be really romantic and sweet. If a character sees themselves as a monster, then the love-interest needs to prove them wrong! Come on, it's basic stuff. We've all seen Beauty and the Beast!! Penn's curiosity and interest in “monsters is supposed to be cute and wholesome and groundbreaking in the "human/monster relations" department, but it really just gave off fetishization vibes in my opinion. When Jack Addison vs. a Whole World of Hot Trouble can explore this theme better, then you know there’s a problem! But nah, this book foregoes anything resembling conflict or angst in order to remain as palatable as possible. Yawn. And look, I know I shouldn't complain because the blurb advertises this book as low-angst, I know, but I didn't think "low-angst" meant Boo~oooring!

I mean, It could have at least taken a few notes from Wednesday and opted for chasing aesthetics instead and I'd be totally cool with that. Don’t get me wrong, nothing about this book was bad, but can you imagine how great Penn & Inkubus could have been if it had just been brave enough to get weird with it? There’s this game called Mass Effect and in it you play as the captain of a star ship named Commander Shepard. And this game, and all Bioware games in general became known for their inclusion of several “romance options throughout all their games that all of which have their own romantic side stories. It's like a romance book where you can choose the love-interest. Yay! The thing is, you can definitely tell that the game is pretty old now, because in the first one, all of the romance options are the most conventionally attractive ones: the sexy brown haired lady, the sexy black haired dude (just like this book, actually), and then the sexy blue alien lady. These characters are all wonderfully written, so it's not that noticeable, but the funny thing was that the biggest fan favorites from the game were two characters who were not romance options named Tali and Garrus. The former being an alien who literally always wears a mask, and then a anthropomorphic bird guy. The bird guy was my favorite! Thankfully, the game developers took note of this and gave these characters their own fun romantic arcs in the sequels and then all was right in the world. Look, my point is that at first, Mass Effect was an “alien game where you couldn’t get freaky deaky with some freaky looking aliens, and it’s like what’s even the point, then? Why are we here? And now that Penn & Inkubus has me all existential, I find myself thinking what was the point of even reading this book. Man, I'm glad I'm not reading this anymore. This is a book that’s supposedly about a human hooking up with a monster, and yet all I see are two sexy dudes getting it on!? All six-packed-up and perfect looking. Boring! Oh well, I guess I could always just watch The Shape of Water again. You know how people take profile pictures with their favorite books close in hand? I’ve always thought it would be kind of funny if I did that, but with one of those “shirtless man book that I didn’t even like all that much. You know, just something super embarrassing. Yeah well, if I ever lose all remnants of shame, I think I’ve found just the book for my new profile pic!

« I didn’t think there was a human equivalent to the flavor of Penn’s energy. I only knew that it was my new favorite flavor, and I could see myself becoming addicted. »

Penn & Inkubus might be my favorite of the Creepin U series so far.
Let’s not get too excited, ‘cause it was still pretty mid.

The writing was better, it was less cheesy and punny, the romance was cute and the spice was nice. The problem is that nothing really happens. It was absolutely zero angst zero drama. zero feels.
The cute love story was the only thing that made me finish this, but the rest was just blabber and completely forgettable.

I feel like this series might be perfect as an intro to monster lovin, for those who want to dip their toes into the monster romance genre without getting overwhelmed.
For me, it’s just not enough.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

CW and tropes (spoilers):
- Human X incubus
- College setting
- No angst
- Sort of friends w/ benefits to lovers
- Strict top/bottom
- Rimming

This one landed a bit different from the other series. It was a bit more spicy than the other ones, probably due to the nature of it being an incubus monster.

What I loved about it was that Cam was not typical, he had the one feeder, and it happened it his best friend. I thought it was a bit unbelievable that they’ve been feeding off each other for so long, but no feelings got involved. Perhaps the platonic soulmate was true for them, but I guess when it’s your the one, feelings always get mixed up.

It was a bit slow in getting to the relationship, I could have done with less of Cam’s stubbornness in finding a replacement feeder, but when he and Penn got together it was like finally!!!

(A little of spelling error or something, it bothered me that the title is called inkubus, but throughout the book, it was called incubus it didn’t sit right with me, like which is the right spelling for this book?)

Despite all that, I enjoyed Penn and Cam’s story. They were cute together and I liked getting to know about the incubus.

Me gustó mucho, porque esperaba que las personalidades fueran un poco al revés y me sorprendió Penn siendo el más directo, y Cam siendo súper tierno e incluso tímido algunas veces 🥰

1st person, past tense, dual POV
Penn Leroy, human, sophomore journalism major at Creelin U
Cam Wilde, incubus, sophomore at Creelin U

While I enjoyed this book, I wish it had contained a little more of story. It seemed like the author shied away from any opportunity for tension or angst. I've read several of the author's other books and this didn't feel as polished. It, as with some of the others in the series, felt like a watered down monster story, very light and fluffy, without much substance. Very similar to a Hallmark type Christmas movie, fun but forgettable. I enjoyed it, but had to take a lot at face value because if you looked too closely the story would start to unravel.

What I had the most trouble with was Cam's vehement insistence not to have more than one feeder.
There's a world of nuanced difference between maintaining a huge harem of people or banging an endless parade of strangers to gorge yourself on vs. having a small intimate group you can rely on to keep you fed. I get the need for trust and intimacy but, given how necessary it is to his survival, it's life of death, I think a better job needed to be done in explaining why Cam literally had no one else in the world he could/would go to, especially when the point is driven home so hard in explaining he and his bestie/feeder (the one who ghosted Cam and left him high and dry as besties do?) weren't in love. AND THEN with barely a moment of consideration he allowed Penn to fill that role, when it didn't even seem like they were all that friendly to begin with.

Suspension of disbelief is a wonderful thing.

All that aside, this was, as expected, quite heavy on the spice, I enjoyed Penn and Cam getting to know each other and falling in love. They were very sweet together and I liked that they took their time becoming friends as well as lovers. The exploration of the incubus/feeder dynamic and Penn's experience specifically was interesting. It was nice seeing Penn in research mode and earning his place on the newspaper staff, though the negative reactions to his series was poorly explained and explored. Cam's incubus appearance was very cool and it was fun to see it peeking out whenever he lost control of himself.

I love shared world multi-author series like this, where there are a small handful of stories set in the same place with some minor character crossovers. This is a perfect light and fun pre-Hallowe'en read to get you in the spirit of the season, just don't expect it to takes itself too seriously.

Penn is another human excited to be part of CU. An aspiring journalist he is excited to be part of the colleges newspaper. If only the editor would give him a chance at an interesting topic. In the meantime, he will try and not be too distracted by his friend and crush, Cam, an incubus. But when Penn starts to notice that something is wrong with Cam, he can’t help but see what is going on. He learns that Cam is in need of a feeder after his left the school to study abroad. And Penn can’t help but volunteer. Cam isn’t like other incubuses. They are known to have more than one feeder, but that is something he has never been able to do. His one and only feeder was his best friend and though they were hooking up to feed Cam in that exchange of energy, they never fell for one another. But now his best friend is gone and he needs to find someone else that he is comfortable with or risk getting sick and in the hospital. And when Penn volunteers, Cam can’t help but feel a little thrilled about it. Especially after he makes sure Penn’s questions are answered and knows what he is signing up for. Penn even gets inspiration to start a series for the paper about incubus and relationships with humans. It’s the beginning of others getting informed about human and monster relationships. As the two begin this exchange, feelings start to develop. While there might be challenges as they figure out a new relationship between them, as long as they have each other it will all work out. I really loved Penn and Cam. It was interesting to see how a relationship between an incubus and a human could work considering an incubus’s abilities. But it worked out in the best way. These two were so sweet! Another great one from this series and I can’t wait for the next one!

This book was a little different from the other ones. I was expecting some drama or something in it but there wasn't any. It was different and a change.

Penn wants to become a journalist and so he is taking a class however the teacher is a monster so he tends to give the better stories to the monsters, not the humans. Penn sees Cam and he can't help but stare at him. He has always been curious about monsters and for some reason Cam just stays in his mind. He notices when Cam isn't doing so well and when he finds out the Cam needs a new feeder, he decides he will volunteer for it. It's a different experience for him and being attracted to Cam is not helping Penn to know what is real and what is not.

Cam isn't like all the other Incubus out there. He only has one feeder and doesn't care to have more than that. His family never understands why and it's always an argument when he goes home. When he loses his feeder and can't really get what he needs from clubs, the last person he thought that would offer being a feeder, he can't help but accept. He has always felt a pull towards Penn and he will do whatever he can to protect Penn with anything or even help him. He has to figure out if what he is feeling is real or if it's just something with the incubus in him.

Penn & Cam's story isn't fast but it also leads up to a connection between the two. You can't help but love how they come together. The more time they spend together, the better off they are. These two will need to communicate and be there for one another.

Firstly, let me say I’ve got this book from Romans reviews and this is me leaving my honest review.
This is a brand-new over to me, and I’ve got to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This book is about a university caters for humans and monsters. And Penn has always been fascinated by monsters. War is over the moon to get a transfer to Creelin University. He is a keen writer and he joins the newspaper on campus, and this is where he meets Cam who is a Incubus. Penn have been attracted to him from the first day. But it wasn’t until they got talking that they became friends, and this is where he found out that Cam no longer had a feeder. So Penn officers to be his feeder as when Cam doesn’t feed his health deteriorates rapidly. This was meant to be in agreement through friends. Penn would learn more about human feeder for a Incubus. But what happens if feelings start to appear???

I found this book to be utterly cute. There was a real connection between these two, and I honestly found that the feelings they felt were honest feelings between two people learning more about one another, trusting understanding is supportive. And you can’t forget the passion and it’s so hot hot hot!! A really good read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series, I am so gutted that I didn’t read the books before this one.

A review.

3 stars

Penn & Inkubus is the fourth book in the Creepin U series and is meant to be read as a standalone. It’s also a slightly confused book. Penn goes into this relationship with Cam wanting to publish stories about what it’s like for a human and an incubus to be in a relationship but that’s a thread that goes nowhere. It’s mentioned that Penn is getting some flak for it, but other than that and one rather tepid “bully in the hallway a scene which allows Cam to show off his incubus form there’s nothing to be said other than Penn works at Newspaper. (And no, I don’t know why the newspaper is called “Newspaper.)

All in all, this is harmless. If you want a book about two college kids with healthy approaches to sex and an active sex life, then this book might work for you. But if you’re looking for something more detailed, with a plot or a world or character work well, this book is more like cotton candy. It’s sweet, but leaves me wanting something more solid.

Penn & Inkubus by Essie Sloane is the next book in the multi-author series Creepin U. This one focused on incubus, Cam, whose regular feeder is taking an internship in Europe. Cam is unusual in the fact that he likes to keep one feeder rather than have a roster like the rest of his family. I didn’t understand why Ryder, the feeder, ghosted Cam so much at the beginning. He was supposed to be his best friend and he knew how important it was for Cam to feed regularly. But he instead chose to ignore him? That seemed very weird. Penn has a crush on Cam and willingly steps up to be his new feeder. The two very quickly develop feelings for each other, but Penn is worried that his feelings are artificial due to the chemicals released during feedings. This was very sweet and by the end, I felt their connection. But for the longest time I didn’t think that Cam was attracted to Penn. Also, the bullying over the newspaper articles was not really resolved. Did the articles change minds? In the end, it was an enjoyable installment of the series.

We're back at Creelin U for the 4th book in this multi-author series and I absolutely loved it! I loved Penn and Cam and their fun story! I really appreciated the low-angst, and really enjoyed how their friendship turned into something more. Cam is an incubus and Penn(a human) agrees to be his feeder, and uses his experience to write a series of newspaper columns.
I enjoyed the fact that they became friends first and things changed when they started to get to know each other. The appearance and progression of feelings felt natural. I was rooting for them from the start, they were sweet and cute. They had some discussions that I think were great to have at the time they had them. I loved their protectiveness of each other and how they stood up for each other when needed.
It was such a fun read and I loved the vibes of the book so much!

The authors created such a fun world with this series and I've loved every book. It's a world I'd honestly live in.

This book is a great addition to the multi author series about Creepin U. The writing and world building are top notch and the book is low angst, easy to read and entertaining (and the title is a clever pun!). Penn and Cam are hot together and I loved seeing their sweet and supportive relationship grow stronger. Penn is a human who is taking journalism at Creelin U, where they have only recently begun to accept humans to a university for monsters. Cam is an incubus who needs a regular feeder to get the energy he needs to survive. Penn is writing articles about the interactions between humans and monsters; lucky for him, he has his own experiences to draw on. This is my first book by Essie Sloane, and I'm happy to have discovered this author.

4/5 It was fun to see these two actually get to know one another. Cam needs a feeder so that he can consume enough energy as an incubus; Penn wants to help, but he also has a bit of a crush on Cam. Trying to navigate attraction is complicated by the incubus-feeder relationship and the intimacy that comes from that. There was an interesting dynamic between monsters and humans both at the university and in the world. I liked Penn’s willingness to face this head on in the articles he writes. I liked that his roommates do clearly care about him, even if they don’t always express it the best way possible (the same with Cam’e family). I liked the way these two figured out how to be together in all the ways that matter.

Such a swoon worthy book. I have enjoyed all of the Creelin U anthology but this one maybe my favourite. Cam is an Incubus that likes to feed monogamously. Unfortunately his regular feeder is moving away. Lucky for him, Penn, a journalisn student is ready to step up. Penn is attracted to Cam and agreed to give permission to write articles on their experience together. I liked how the author used the concepts of prejudice and to have the monsters and humans at the school. Not understand the relationships between Incubus feeding and their humans. I liked how sweet and spoon-worthy their romance was. I loved both characters. It's definitely going to go on my reread folder. Penn & Inkubus is the fourth book in the multi author Creepin U series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the rest of the series. This is the story of Penn a human who has been curious about monsters and Cam an incubus. Penn and Cam work on the school paper together and become friends. When Cam notices Cam not looking well he offers to help by being his feeder and things get interesting from there. This is another low angst book that is just fun and relaxing to read in the series. I loved Penn's curiosity and Cam's insecurities. It was interesting seeing a human, incubus relationship in action. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

Cam is an incubus which means he needs to feed regularly. Unfortunately, his best friend and only feeder is becoming an exchange student and will not be able to help him anymore. After getting sicker and sicker, he finally opens up to Penn who has become his friend. Penn has a crush on Cam and is willing to help him however he needs.

I enjoyed this Essie Sloan story about two journalism students at Creelin U. I love the little bits and pieces we learn about Penn and Cam as we go. Their start as a feeder and incubus to boyfriends is a nice journey with few bumps. Romance with little drama and no third act breakup is so nice to read. I am looking forward to the last book in the series.

Enjoyable monster-human college-set romance, another entry in the multi-author Creepin U series, set at Creelin University.

Looking for a feel-good largely angst-free read? Give this one a shot. It’s fun and a bit different, with one hero being an incubus who does *have* to have sex to survive.

MC Cam can’t go for more than a week without sexual feeding, or he will get quite ill and could even die. He has one regular feeder, and does not want to have a backup or multiple feeders the way his sister and parents do. He’s not comfortable with more than one. His feeder happens to be his longtime best friend, a guy he has no romantic feelings for and who has no romantic feelings for him, legit, they’re truly just best friends who F for Cam’s sustenance.

Noted: There is a nearly not-safe-for-me element up front in that there is I shrugged it off and continued.

MC Penn is a human who is excited to be allowed to attend Creelin U with monsters. He’s particularly fascinated by Cam, who is on the newspaper staff with him, and when Cam starts looking more and more unwell and Penn learns Cam’s regular feeder is out of the picture and he desperately needs to find another, Penn offers himself up as tribute.

So begins a relationship started by sex but fueled by genuine liking and caring about each other, a rather gentle road to falling in love. There are bumps along the way, as Penn questions whether his growing feelings are genuine or have been created by the unusual incubus chemistry that leaves him in a satiated fog and enhances their physical interactions, and they have to figure that out together. And they do. There’s genuine communication, and I enjoyed the author’s take on an incubus and the potential issues their relationship will face.

There are hints of danger due to a series of articles Penn decides to write about dating an incubus (with Cam’s full permission and enthusiasm), and I didn’t find it that believable for a college campus—why would college students be upset about But it added tension and then didn’t escalate further, so, okay.

Cam’s sister and parents were fun characters to meet, though I didn’t feel the issue of them urging Cam to think about backup feeders was resolved. It left me worried that Cam might have to add another feeder in the future for health reasons, despite him not wanting to. But I guess that’s an issue for future Cam and Penn to worry about.

HEA (including year-later epilogue), human-incubus, must have sex or die, college campus setting. No cheating, no Other Person romantic drama, though I could have done without that initial feeder scene. Another fun read in this world of monsters and humans. Recommended.

My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

Cam and Penn's romance was a sweet and steamy exploration of love between a human and an incubus. I enjoyed getting to know both the main characters, and I thought the journalism angle of the main storyline was an interesting way to answer all the stereotypicalquestions about the validityof a love connection formed with a being that feeds on sexual energy. Cam was such a sweetheart, and I thought it was really sweet how shy he was about his attraction to Penn after they started their feeder arrangement. I did get a little frustrated with Penn at one point for letting himself be led astray by the opinions of others, but I appreciate that he was trying to approach his situation logically and didn't let it turn into a big dramatic incident. The majority of this story focused around the growing romantic relationship between Penn and Cam, and to be honest there wasn't much else going on in the background. I got to meet their friends and family a couple of times, and that was a fun side quest, but otherwise it was all Cam and Penn and their feelings. I was happy to see Cam gain confidence in his choice to use only a single feeder, and I also liked that he got to a point where he wasn't as self-conscious about his true form around Penn. A part of me was waiting for some issue or conflict to pop up and throw a wrench into things, but Cam and Penn had pretty much smooth sailing once they sorted out how real their feelings were for each other. All in all, I thought this was a cute book with a romance-driven storyline and a sweet ending for the main characters.

This is the first book that I’ve by Essie Sloane’s and I’m definitely going to be reading more. I thought that this was another good addition to the Creepin U multi-authored series. I really enjoyed this book as well as immersing myself in this very interesting world of monsters and humans. Cam is an incubus whose only feeder is going overseas to study for the semester and since Cam only has the one he needs to find a feeder and fast but he’s not like the rest of his kind as he feels vulnerable when feeding and can’t imagine doing that with multiple complete strangers. Penn a very inquisitive human, comes with a territory as he’s a journalism major, notices Cam’s energy depleting when Cam tells him that his regular feeder has left and Penn guesses that he obviously hasn’t found a new feeder. Penn offers to become Cam’s feeder. They then have an open and honest discussion about what becoming a feeder involves.

I thought Penn and Cam were great together and I loved how their relationship progressed. I loved how open and honest Cam was about his feeding, especially when Penn started freaking out when his roommates were questioning if Penn’s feelings for Cam were real as apparently feeding from an incubus can make you feel obsessed so kind of manipulating the feeders feelings. Since Cam has only ever had one feeder before Penn he told Penn that he’d talk to his parents and sister about it since they’re like the rest of their species. They told him that constantly feeding from someone can’t make that person feel a certain way but if they already have feelings it’ll just bring them to the forefront quicker than it usually would. It gave Penn peace of mind that his feelings for Cam were actually real. I’m looking forward to reading the next book from the Creepin U Series, as well as more books from Essie in the future. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book through GRR. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased*

This is the fourth installment in the Creepin U series of fun monster books and is perhaps a little spicier than the others. I am a fan!

Penn, who is interested in Cam, the incubus, realizes that Cam needs a feeder/supplier of energy and he volunteers for the job. In addition, he decides to write a series of articles in the student newspaper about his experiences. Soon, Penn began to catch feelings, but he worried that they were an effect of being a feeder and not real. Their relationship is very sweet and I like how they are with each other. Things go smoothly once they figure out whether what they're feeling is real or not.

This is a cute monster story with very low angst. It is entertaining and a lovely read in between other more angsty ones. I look forward to continuing this series as well as reading other books by this author.

"Cam, I told you not to turn your incubus charm on me when you ask me questions... It gets me all discombobulated.

I read one other book in the Creepin U series and loved it. I liked the premise of this book and was excited to read it. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Cam (incubus) and Penn (human). I'll admit the life Cam has needing feeders- or feeder since he doesn't want more than one- is a hard one and feels so draining (pun not intended?). I like that Penn was very drawn to him and aware of how tired he was even when it was hidden. After losing Ryder as his feeder, Cam wasn't doing well and Penn was getting nervous. So he made Cam an offer to be his feeder. I liked how they communicated and talked through things openly. I was so hooked to the story. This is the first book I've read by this author and I would definitely read more. 5 stars.

Creelin University is admitting humans to its student body along with the 'monsters', who are definitely different beings but also not monsters in the scary sense. Penn, a human, is curious and jumps at the chance to be at the school. He meets Cam, an incubus who is hot and in need of some help. They both write for the school newspaper and develop a friendship that moves Penn to offer his help when Cam needs a feeder. Feelings develop between them and they are sweet together. This was a neat story about the development of a relationship in college going from friends to more. And a nice reminder that engaging with beings who are different can lead to good things.
I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is another really sweet romance set at Creelin U. It works perfectly well as a standalone but I'm enjoying reading each book to experience more of the shared world. Penn and Cam were well suited for each other; they had great chemistry and I enjoyed how things moved from friends to lovers. Penn was kind, protective and well-suited for Cam who didn't always put his own health and needs first. There isn't any real angst to the story other than their own tendencies to overthink things. I liked the epilogue to give a better feel of the HEA and, if you like this genre, then I'd definitely recommend it.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Very low angst romance

Cam and Penn's story is sweet and without any real drama. It was a very easy read and fitted in well with the series.
The affection Cam and Penn had for each other, as well as their off the charts chemistry, made for a lovely story. I liked the fact that they both wrote for the school newspaper, and how that played into their relationship.
I loved Cam's interactions with his parents and his sister, who worried about him but loved and supported him.
I'm enjoying this series and I liked Essie's take on incubi. Delving into how incubi feed and the effect on humans, and making Cam different than most of his kind, was a good way to go.

This continues to be an entertaining series. Penn, a human who has enrolled at Creelin U because he wants to learn more about monsters is instantly attracted to Cam, an incubus in his Journalism class. This was a sweet story and I loved both Penn and Cam. Penn's natural curiosity to know everything and Cam's insecurities gave the story depth. It was well plotted and whilst it didn't feel quite as integrated as some of the other stories, I still enjoyed it immensely. Only downside was it could have done with better proofreading hence the 4 stars

This is so good!
I love this series the creepin u series has taken tropes that have been done repeatedly and put a new spin on them with the supernatural/paranormal. Penn is a human journalist who is very kind and has taken a liking to another person in his newspaper class named Cam. When we meet Cam he has a steady feeder(who is also his platonic best friend) and cam has no interest in finding another feeder. He and Penn become friends and Penn ends up offering to help cam in a situation that he ends up with. I loved this couple and the ending of the story!

Penn is a human who has come to CU for a journalist degree. He ends up working on the college newspaper. There he meets Cam an incubus who's a little different than your regular incubus. Penn volunteers to help Cam out with his problem. These two have a thorough conversation about Cam's needs and Penn is still on board to help. They slowly start to become closer and real feelings start to happen. These two characters felt like a natural progression of friends to lovers. The story was nice and the world building was good.

Cam is an incubus at Creepin U. Unlike most concubi he only likes one feeder at a time, he wants intimacy. When his previous feeder/ BF leaves campus he finds a new one in the human Penn, a journalist student. Penn has crushed on Cam since he came to campus and volunteers, eager for the sexual activity with Cam. It becomes much more than feeding but feeling enters into it. It becomes so much more magnetized and intense because love changes it. It's a romantic book as two guys find out what real love is. I received a copy of this through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my voluntary opinion.

This is my first book by Essie but it won’t be my last! Her writing just flowed and hooked me from page one. Cam and Penn were perfect for each other. I enjoyed how Penn didn’t just blindly fall in to his feelings without making sure they were authentic. I also loved how supportive Cam was. Even though this was a book with an inkubus the steamy scenes did not take over the storyline. This book was well written, medium steam, great side characters with a cute HEA. I received this book from GRR and these are my honest opinions
