Sam Mason Mysteries #9

Finding Answers

Rate this book
Long buried secrets threaten to upset life in the town of White Rock.

When Sergeant Jody Harris finds her landlord, Garvin McDaniels, dead things get sticky. Especially when evidence is found linking her to the murder. Not only that but someone claims Jo was angry that Garvin wasn't going to sell her the property she currently lives in.

As evidence mounts against her, Jo is relieved of duty. Thankfully Chief Sam Mason and Lucy are still on the case. Sam believes in her innocence and Jo is confident he will do what it takes to clear her name. Not to mention, she isn't going to sit at home, she's doing her own investigating on the side.

When the case takes a strange turn linking Jo's property to a decades old murder things start looking up for Jo. Now she knows why someone is trying to frame her, but what she doesn't know is who that person is.

Meanwhile, Kevin and Bridget are running their own stealth investigation and reveal a tangled thread of corruption between Convale and town officials that even Sam Mason and K-9 Lucy might not be able to unravel.

Sam Mason should have it easy as a sheriff in a small rural town but think again. Finding Answers by L.A. Dobbs is another great installment in this series where we get some answers but at the same time we also get new questions. The murder rate in this community is not good but the mysteries are. I have been hooked on this series since I discovered it many years ago now. I love the setting and the characters and the ongoing underlying mysteries that follows this series. I can really recommend it.

Twists and turns around a murder and others subplots.

I love this series. Not only the people, but also the animals give the story its colour around the principal plot but also the subplots.
Thank you L.A. Dobbs for a superb story!.

Finding Answers is Book 9 in the Sam Mason mystery series by L.A. Dobbs.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters are complex, flawed and well fleshed out.

Seargeant Jody is taking a meal to her landlord and finds him dead.

All eyes are on Jody as she is trying to convince the landlord to sell his cottage to her.

There is a lot more to the story as secrets and lies are expertly revealed by the author.

It seems almost everyone has something to hide, except K9 Lucy.

This mystery was so well written. This is one of my favorite crime mystery series.

This can be read as a stand-alone, but I do think enjoyment will be found with reading the other books first to get more of a backstory.

Can't wait for more books in this incredible series.

This is the ninth book in the Sam Mason Mystery series. This is a little different from a cozy but not graphic. It is a standalone read but is part of a series. I suggest reading them in order if you want to continue the threads of character growth and their secrets.

In this story, Jo is so close to having Mr Garvin McDaniels sell her the cottage she has been renting. While delivering a casserole, she finds that he was brutally murdered. She becomes the prime suspect and is benched by the mayor.

There are plenty of secrets, and a subplot with her sister and Kevin.

I thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn.

I was given an Advanced Readers copy and am NOT required to leave a positive review. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Entire series is great drama and so much more

These books bring together mysteries, drama, family - both blood and work families, there for each other but all with some deep long held secrets that can, at any time crop up and cause issues for any one of them, Jo, Bridget, Sam, Wyatt or Kevin.
Will Beryl Thorne ever get what she deserves? At least 2 undeserving ppl are dead because of things she seems involved in. A reporter from decades ago, and a sweet lonely old man who had no idea what was about to transpire when he starts researching his property boundries, to leave it to a nature conservatory in his will, and sell No the cabin she loves do much. Can he fulfill his dream?

Sergeant Jody Harris is taking another meal to her elderly landlord as a bribe to convince him to sell her the house and land she has been renting.
When she gets there, she finds the front door open.
When she goes in, the place has been sacked and her landlord is dead.

Finding Answers is the 9th book in the Sam Mason series.
There are developed characters, a bit of humor, and a German Shepherd.
This can be read as stand alone story or you can read them in order.

I’m enjoying this on-going story surrounding Sam, Jo, and Lucy, and all of White Rock. This mystery surrounds the death of Garvin McDaniels, Jo’s landlord, and puts her right in the center of the investigation. There are a couple of on-going mysteries that all seem to come together. There are lots of questions, plenty of suspects, and delightful animals. I’m enjoying this series and am glad to see it continues with book 10 in the forecast.

Always a fun, but thrilling ride, even if some of the players appear laid back on the surface

This series continues to to be enjoyable not only for the mystery this group at our favorite small town police station focuses on in each book, but also the underlying back stories of each character. They always seems to pop up right in the thick of things and have a surprising link to what they are investigating.

Cliffhanger

No is relieved of duty due to a murder. She asks Mick to help and, of course, everyone at the station is helping too. There's something big going down in town. Why was there a murder? Why did they plant evidence pointing to Jo? What's so important about the property that someone is willing to pay for it? Great job. Cliffhanger. Who's on the hot seat next time? Great job. Thank you.

My apologies to the author...I would not know how to write a book and it is not an easy task so i regret saying that this was a pretty bad book. It had cliche after cliche (how many times did I have to hear that Holy Spirit was once a church and now a bar). the plot was all over the place and after awhile i just gave up caring who killed Gavin.

one homicide solved, a million questions remaining

The owner of Jo’s cottage dies under peculiar and obviously unnatural circumstances.

Somehow (oh, Ms. Dobbs, how did the hair get to the murder scene?) Jo is implicated and summarily suspended by the Mayor.

What a mess! Dirty dealings and secrets - some deadly - surround the town.

I love the friendships that has been built in this series. The way the author has also included the animals and the friendship to the story . I would recommend this series to anyone that love a good mystery and a animal lover because in these books you are getting the best of both worlds .

Another AMAZING book in the series!
As Sam, Jo, and the rest of the team find answers to one question, new questions pop-up.
Will they ever figure out what really happened all those years ago?
I can't wait to find out what Sam, Jo, and Lucy are able to discover next.

Great series

Although there is a conclusion to the murder, there are issues that continue throughout the series. Read it from the beginning to get the full enjoyment and storyline. I look forward to the next book in the series. Lucy is always a plus!

Jo is put on suspension because her landlord was murdered and she is implicated.

Jo had been trying to buy her rental for a long time. But her landlord just couldn’t let it go. But she became his friend and always had hopes till the day she found him dead.
