The Nexus Series #2

Celestial Alphas

Rate this book
They gave me away...now he has me.
I know three important facts

I’m locked up, and my mates betrayed me.
Severi isn’t dead.
If I don’t get out, Starlight City is going down with my Nexus.
After running for five years, I’m back in Starlight City and my mates finally found out what is wrong with my Nexus. In an unexpected turn of events, my own mates turned against me and handed me over to the new Alpha Supreme, leaving me no choice but to face a trial that will determine my fate in light of the crimes I have been accused of. Even if I didn’t want to kill anyone, even if it wasn’t my choice and even if everyone who died deserved it.

Onyx, Finnegan, Rhodes, Hollis and Aleksander finally know why I rejected them, and they are grovelling for my forgiveness, while fighting to make sure I’m released and safe…but they don’t know about Severi.

There is a monster in the darkness, and this time it isn’t just me.

If Severi gets me…my Nexus will be the last thing Starlight City sees before it is gone.

Celestial Alphas is a dark romantasy with men who growl more than speak. You can expect tropes like Who did this to you?, touch her and die, rejected mates, forced proximity and whychoose?

LIVE LOVE LAUGH GWEN (✿◡‿◡) she really makes this series fun. She's very damaged and lonely but like she's still so funny about it all and her banter with her mates is top tier 😭 especially with Hollis lmao

I CANNOT wait to see Hollis finally on his knees begging... I want to see TEARS and ANGUISH. I liked that in this book Gwen was still at least wary of her mates and was not scared to be like FUCK YOU ALL 🤣 she was very stubborn at times but you know what I get it girl lol make these men BEG and cry

That ending??? I wasn't expecting that and I honestly don't know how I feel about it. One thing I do know tho........ Severi 🫦 leave it up to me to have a crush on the evil enemy

This one is still VERY fast-paced and the writing is 3-star at best. A lot of info dumping and sometimes the storytelling felt like the book was actively being chased by a bear. And while I like Annie just fine, this book is already so short, so dedicating a whole ass chapter to Annie's pov was pissing me off a little.

But 4 stars for the drama and the angst and the entertainment!! I'm honestly so excited for the next book but also nervous because I know it's going to be MESSY. I just hope it's the sort of mess I like 🤣

This one is a five star read but I’m being petty and putting it at a four because I’m pissed I waited for months to read a book that barely had any resolutions. Like cmonnnnnnnnnn honestly book 2 should be celebrating the union between the MCs. Not add in more shit about blackmailing and mates being fucking weird. You’re tell me I need to wait for 3 more months for the next book? I hate that because one final book to tie up all the loose threads and have a possibly happy ending feels sickening especially with how much shit has happened in this book. Ugh I feel crappy inside knowing that I’m walking into the new year with this book as my final read of this year. Yes, I love my drama..hell I read book one TWICE but I like it till halfway of the second book. I love happy endings and give me more of that shit!!!

nope. absolutely no. this is a terrible way to continue the first book. first off not enough groveling, 20 pages into the book and she’s already fucking one of her mates. there’s so many side plots that it’s annoying. i can appreciate shit going on behind the scenes but it doesn’t even give you a chance to delve deeper into it. this is going to be one of those series that starts out so fucking strong with the first book, but then they make it into 10 more books that ruins the entire plot line. nope

I was thrilled to receive this ARC, but unfortunately, I found myself disappointed. From the very start, it felt disorganized and lacked a clear direction from the author. It reminded me of an early draft on Wattpad; I could see the intended path, but the journey was quite rocky, which caused me to lose interest.

While the first book wasn't flawless, it captivated me and held my attention. This one felt more like filler material; it finally began to gain momentum, only to abruptly end with a cliffhanger. This tactic works if you give us readers more to work with and a better plot thickener, but if we barely get any story, you will lose us along the way.

The relationship she has with her mates is so annoying, I get that there is a bond but GIRLFRIEND don’t cave, make them all grovel!! They need to do more than just a “promise, won’t do it again, c’mon! I hope their character development grows in the next book, and Gwen gains more self-confidence and trust for her nexus.

If we receive the third book before I forget this story completely, I will read it.

Unfortunately I didn’t like this one as much as the first one. The plot felt clunky? It didn’t feel like a cohesive story unfolding to the ending. It felt like we were rushing around back and forth for contrived reasons. I can like a story that doesn’t have a compelling plot if I love the characters but I also didn’t feel as connected or invested in the characters this book so overall it didn’t work for me.

It kind of feels like the men in this book either had short term memory loss or split personality disorder because it feels like they woke up each morning and decided if they loved her or hated her based on vibes and not her actions? Idk might just be me. That being said I am a sucker for an RH fantasy and I will probably still finish the series.

This book had me hooked. The first book was amazing. It had everything I loved. Rejected mates, why choose, miscommunication, a tiny hint of OWD. I loved it. But waiting for closure after that cliffhanger was torture. Book two features my absolute favorite trope in the world, grovelling.

Gwen is an easy character to relate to. She experiences a lot of hardship in her life but she always gets up from it. In this book you see her speak a lot about the past and how that has affected her as a person.

Her mates (yes all 6 of them) also experience some character development in this book. And we finally get to see inside Severi’s mind. My favorite is still Rhodes but I love me a villain. Severi you secretly have a place in my heart. I devoured this book in less than 4 hours it’s insane.

THAT CLIFFHANGER IS CRIMINAL. I guess more torture until the third book 😞

“Monsters can be anyone- I know you just have to push a person far enough that they don’t know where else to turn but into the darkness awaiting them.

“Celestial Alphas, by G. Bailey

I loved book 1 so much and was so excited to finally read book 2. I loved it and have to wait patiently for book 3. I loved the characters and all their internal struggles and the push and pull of the fated mates relationship. Hollis is such a little jerk throughout the book omg, can’t wait to see what he does next. The ending was amazing, and I glued to the pages the entire time. I love the entire Nexus aspect of the book and how monstrous they are, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type thing, very unique. Above all, I adore the reverse harem trope. 5 out of 5 stars, wouldn’t change a thing.

-Reverse Harem
-Magic
-Shifters
-Academy/ Military School
-Fated Mates/ Arranged Relationships

Thank you for the free copy, Booksprout.

I enjoyed this book a lot!! Though at times it seemed to rushed and all over the place because Gwen was here, there, here again, there again, and then back here.
There was made half a 🌶 of spice but otherwise none in there. Which I’ve actually found great because most RH books focus on that and fixing all the issues with 🌶. This book isn’t though. Which I’m glad about.

Finnegan was hands down the best thing about this book and I think he was amazing. He grovelled. The others not so much. They just said “forgive me! I didn’t mean too, I messed up and then expected her to forgive them and have her trust.

Having the multiple POV was great - I know some people don’t like them but I really do. I think getting different perspectives is great when it’s a why choose.

Overall I enjoyed this book even if I didn’t enjoy it as much as book 1. If you read it you might prefer it.
I can’t wait for the third book!!!

I gave this book 3* because I rated the previous book 4* and I didn’t think this book quite made it to the level the previous one did. I still think this book was great, however I rate my books based on the system at the below ⬇️

5*: I will be buried with this book, 4* I will think about this book repeatedly for the rest of my life, 3* good book ill think about it every now and again and enjoyed it a lot. 2* meh. 1* is I wish I couldn’t read so I didn’t read this.

Celestial Alphas by G Bailey
Book 2 of 5 of the Nexus Series
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
▪️Rejected mates
▪️Powerful FMC
▪️Touch her and die
▪️Shifter Romance with powers
▪️Enemies to future lovers?

✅Plot and world building
✅Action packed and fast paced

Gwen the FMC is badass and I'm here for it. I adore all her mates but I also want to slap them just a little for the choices they make. I hope she makes the grovel hard in the next 3 books.

Severi and Hollis are my favourite but maybe that's because I want them to grovel so bad 🤦🏻‍♀️

The only negative I can say about this book is I wish it was longer and we get more backstory and more character development but I have a feeling we will get that soon.

I adored book one of the Nexus series and the CA is just as good. I love the duel POV we get. We finally get to see why some of the mates are acting the way they are.

Death to Rochelle 🤬🤞🏼

Ugh I can’t. The storyline is okay, but the writing is this supposed to be YA? It’s just the over top emotions and earnestness and the MMC’s tunnel vision about their relationship with mate. And I feel like some parts aren’t really fleshed out . Like the trial Onyx is taking part of at the end like, can you clarify some more why it’s so dangerous? I dunno if I can read the next book.

First and foremost?!?! I despise cliffhangers. They are awful. And lo and behold, the biggest cliffhanger happens on the last few pages of this book. 😭

Thankfully Book 3 comes out on March 31, 2025. I have a calendar reminder. I also took notes on Book 2 because I typically jump from book to book to try to quell my sadness when I finish a book with a cliffhanger. So it’s hard to keep all my books straight.

Time for my book summary! SO MUCH HAPPENED IN THIS BOOK, I'll try to summarize as short as I canFirst, the book starts where we left off on in the last book. Gwen was taken by Paavo, Onyx’s dad. In the prologue, you get a glimpse of the deal that Paavo has with the Vian Prince, Severi. Paavo has been using the Vian to further his political career.

Gwen sees her mates when she’s at trial and they learn a little more about her past. She shows hatred towards them because she feels betrayed since they turned her into Paavo hands. Finn is the one that is most distraught because he trusted Onyx and let Paavo take Gwen. But what Onyx's mates don't know is that there is a rune on Onyx's leg that lets Paavo control him.

Anyway, Finn gets arrested and finds a way to get inside Gwen's holding cell/room. He professes his forever loyalty to her and they fall asleep but like every night, Severi, her Vian mate, visits her and doesn't like that Finn is with her. So he threatens Finn's life and asks Gwen to come with him. She complies and he basically breaks her out of the prison. She has to knock out Finn first with a power that she took from another a long time ago.

Gwen gets taken back to the mansion where she was captured a long time ago when Severi first got to her. Also, during that time, Severi has Gwen kill her parents. Severi mentions something about how everything changes now. Of course he doesn't elaborate because that would be TOO EASY. He also threatens Annie's life, Gwen's BFF, if she doesn't listen to Severi. He keeps asking for Gwen to let her Nexus free but her Nexus is scared of Severi. Severi demands that Gwen's Nexus kills the Vian in a room because they are traitors of the crown and he threatens the lives of Annie and her 5 other mates. Gwens Nexus comes out and kills the Vian. As they die, she sees a lights leave from some of them which happens to be their powers. Gwen's Nexus let's them all go except for one which she collects. Gwen has no idea what power that is. Chaos ensues because Gwen's 4 mates are there to rescue her. Rhode's is still in a coma.

Annie is almost taken by Vian when her mate, Kosmos, saves her. Which is hard to swallow because Annie knows that Kos betrayed the Nexus for a cause she doesn't understand. In fact, Severi's bastard born half-sister said that the same thing. That the Nexus were all fed lies.

Also, Gwen helps Finn come back from his Nexus taking over. Before that happens, Finn's Nexus admits that he knows Gwen is dying and that he's felt all the times before. She ends up dying and then her 4 mates watch her come back to life.

When they get back to Starlight, she wakes up in one of Onyx's secret apartment. She still doesn't trust them and wants to run when she's given the opportunity. She agrees to go see Rhode's to see if she can help wake him. When he doesn't, she told her mates of the Night Market of the Fairy Realm.

Meanwhile, Annie is dealing with the loss of her mate and her parents at her mate's parent's house. And her imaginary "shadow friend" shows up. I'm curious to find out the story behind that.

Alek and Gwen go to the night market to retrieve the potion and run into Samar, a Vian that can nullify powers. Samar reveals to Alek that Gwen killed her parents and that Severi has to suffer at the hands of his dad the king for 24 hrs because Gwen escaped.

They escape and go to Rhodes to wake him with the potion. He wakes and then Gwen is taken by Beta Giuli for the trial. Hollis turned her in. You find out that Rochelle, his supposed girlfriend, is blackmailing him. They have a blood bound deal and now she's asking him to propose to her publicly. He doesn't want to be mean to Gwen, but he has to to protect Eli. Whoever that is, I'm thinking it's Rochelle's dead mate's brother? You also find out that Rochelle's dead mate was Hollis' best friend and he blames himself for his death.

Back to Gwen, she's in more trouble now because she escaped. While on trial, Onyx rushes in to save Gwen. He has papers from his father saying that she is to be released and returned to the Ranger Academy. When Onyx drops her off, he gives her back the rune where they can communicate to each other. He says something cryptic that he won't see her for at least 6 months and he knows that Gwen won't forgive him but he says he wants her to live a normal life at the academy because of the rough upbringing she's lived through. Gwen pleads for him not to go, but he does anyway.

Onyx asks his mates to keep a secret. His deal with his father was to enter this trial of the gods where only one other Nexus has survived. He asks them to lie to Gwen on where he is.

Epilogue reveals that Gwen has a twin named Georgina. And Severi is setting her free upon Gwen's mates. END OF BOOK! See HUGE CLIFFHANGER. I can't even right now......

Really enjoyed this book, I feel like I breezed through it! Love Finn the most so far I think, but I can’t wait to bond with the other guys (especially Hollis 👀).
Excited for the next instalment! I have so many questions (especially pertaining to Annie’s character!)

First book was better

Really loved the first book but felt like this one jumped around a lot and was lacking depth in building the story, characters and relationships. You jump from one scene to the next without even truly covering the scene you’re in except on a surface level. Then so much was just handed out in the relationships with background and then moved past without any real build out. It was more like random emotional dumping then moving on. There’s a lot of potential but I have zero faith in can be developed let alone wrapped up in one more book and I feel the chance to pull the reader deeper into the characters and story was lost. Just sad because the first book was excellent and there was so much potential but this book just didn’t deliver nearly as well as the first.

3/3.5

I like characters, story itself is great and has so much potential.
I really hope all of it was done for a reason and it’ll come together in the future.

It felt rushed. There’s no foreshadowing and worldbuilding is dropped randomly. Relationships between characters feel shallow.
Some dramas feel unnecessary - cliffhanger was absurd and out of nowhere. I hope next book will be longer.

disappointed

Story is being dragged out, like if the writer didn’t know what else to write about. it could have been better but Gwen keeps getting capture over and over then free then capture and so many characters and stories being introduce that leaves you in the unknown. Now there is a twin who is the good one and is going to help destroy Gwen like come one there are so many villains in the story that it’s crazy! Not for me, I was excited to see what Happen after book one but this book disappointed me.

I must admit, I was quite disappointed with The Nexus Series. While the premise seemed intriguing, the execution fell flat in many areas. The writing structure is one of the main issues; it's disorganized and difficult to follow. Terms and concepts are introduced without any explanation, leaving the reader confused and lost in the narrative.

Moreover, the story itself feels like a poorly executed copy of The Bonds That Tie. The similarities are too obvious, and it feels as though the series lacks originality and depth. Overall, I found the book frustrating and hard to enjoy.

I try not to write bad reviews but I really did try to give this one a fair chance and read the second book. There is just nothing I can find to redeem this rating. The writing quality, characters, plot is all just messy. It felt just thrown together and unoriginal- I first saw this being compared to a different series I loved and it just felt like copy and paste but with worse writing. The only reason I finished is because I hate to DNF and it was not super long (maybe this is the positive).
