(DNF) Not finishing and not liking a Jessa Kane book is extremely rare for me, but I just couldn't stand this one anymore. At first, I didn't like the heroine because of how strong she came on to the Hero. That's a personal thing, I know, but there's also the fact that it was her first day on the job-- a job that she mentioned a few times that she'd worked very hard to get in the first place. So despite the power of instalove and fiction, I just lost my respect for her character. Even after trying to mentally shake it off so I could get into the story, something about her just rubbed me the wrong way.
Then there was the unrelenting use of the Hero's title of "Mr. President" and "sir" in sexual situations that also got frustrating. I get it. This is an erotic romance involving the president of the country. I don't want to be reminded of that every time the heroine opens her mouth. Add in the association of the title with the current president of the US, and it's just unpleasant. By the point I stopped reading, the Hero had already asked her twice to call him by his name (or "Daddy") when they were alone, but she still persisted and it really annoyed me.
And I really hate to say this, because Jessa Kane is usually the best at establishing chemistry between the MCs and writing dirty talk and sex scenes, but...this one just wasn't good. The Daddy kink especially seemed disconnected from the characters, like it was thrown in there for old times sake. This author usually does that kink very well with the way she has the characters kind of fall into it and then settle into it as their relationship develops. This time, it just didn't fit with the characters, and it also rubbed me the wrong way.
I know that not every book can be the best one the author has written, but I'm so used to the higher quality of Jessa Kane, that this one was a real disappointment. I'm really glad that she's writing and publishing again, though, and I will definitely keep reading her work.

I was primed for a bananas story, and this instalove novella ended up feeling kind of sweet, but it was a nice surprise! Not every book can be as glorious as Preacher Man, I guess. π
It was still filthy though, because itβs a Jessa Kane story. I donβt think there is a Jessa Kane MMC in existence who could look at the FMC without having explicit fantasies, and Mr. President here did a lot of crooning at the same time. Me: yes.
I also liked that the FMC was not at all ashamed of being hot for the president, and was the main pursuerβ� at first. π

AquΓ no solo hay spicy, sino tambiΓ©n esos momentos que te hacen reΓr o te sacan una sonrisa por lo exageradamente cursi que pueden ser algunas escenas. Pero, lejos de ser un punto en contra, todo eso suma al encanto de la historia. Entre la pasiΓ³n y lo divertido, el resultado es una lectura ligera y entretenida que cumple su propΓ³sito.

smut was super hot. not too much daddy kink which i was a fan of, and the mmc wasnβt mega dominant in bed because the fmc was an equal, if not more so, of an initiator.
wouldβve read much more on these two. one thing i wouldβve liked to see is the mmc reacting to how obsessed fmc was with him - before they met (him finding her folder of pictures of the mmc on her laptop), but otherwise supa supa good.
not rlly any non vanilla things except for some light exhibitionism :P
