"X-MANHUNT" Part TWO! Charles Xavier is on the run, and his first stop is New York - but there are plenty of mutants in the city who want nothing to do with the most recent master plan of the disgraced Professor X! Will the return of their dearly departed mentor bolster the burgeoning community that calls itself NYX or tear everything they've built apart? What does Xavier want from the city? What is he willing to do to get what he wants? And - perhaps most alarmingly of all - who else is waiting in the wings to strike?!
This book shouldn't exist. It features several characters from Academic X, back from the early 2000s, not acting all maudlin and self involved. They repeatedly stress the idea that they don't like the dichotomy of traditional superheroics, but then the writer forces them to be hypocrites who still end up engaging in superhero fights anyway. So, this issue was more of the same, but with more of the boo-hoo-we-hate-Charles-Xavier garbage.
For someone who has been reading X-Men comics since 1992, I've got to say, it's amazing that newer fans think that it's transgressive to shit on Xavier. Writers have been shitting on him consistently for the past 20 years. Oh my God, he was keeping secrets!? He was imperfect? Someone thinks that it's brilliant to point out the idea that maybe it's child neglect to train children for combat before they have matured enough to really appreciate what they're doing?
So tired of it.
I don't need to hear from a bizarre group of young people how they don't believe in superheroics, and they don't have any faith in Charles Xavier. These "transgressive" ideas are hit over my head all the time.
Solely reading this for the X-Manhunt storyline. Don’t really know anyone mentioned outside of Doom and Ms Marvel(a bit).
Issue was fairly decent and I liked that there were some black heroes I ain’t know about. Might delve into this a bit more. But anywhooo…Xavier is really showing out how selfish he is with his goals. Very one track minded. Would never think I would start to hate this man. My recollection of him was him being a leader and teacher to the mutants.
Boy…things have changed in a couple decades. Easy 3.8/5 stars. Might be better if I knew more about any of these characters.
A weaker issue of this series. A lot of that is because I don’t like Mojo all that much, I find him annoying. Evil Charles isn’t my favorite plot line in the world either. I am a big Ms Marvel fan though, so I’m glad she got to feature in this issue.
I enjoyed reading this issue of NYX as a part of X-Manhunt series part 2. Great artwork and action from start to finish. I like the way Professor X smoothly moves through this issue and on to the next.
