Ab奴 Zakariyy膩 Ya岣膩 ibn Sharaf al-Nawaw墨 (Arabic: 兀亘賵 夭賰乇賷丕 賷丨賷賶 亘賳 卮乇賮 丕賱賳賵賵賷鈥;鈥 1233鈥1277), popularly known as al-Nawaw墨 or Imam Nawaw墨 (631鈥676 A.H./1234鈥1277), was a Sunni Shafi'ite jurist and hadith scholar.[3] He authored numerous and lengthy works ranging from hadith, to theology, biography, and jurisprudence.[4] Al-Nawawi never married.[5]
Riyadh us-Saliheen is an awesome collection of ahadeeth. I was fairly new to Islam when I first got my hands on it, and I remember opening it up and being unable to put it down. The categorization is also great. However, for the non-Arabic speakers, I'd be cautious of some of the mistranslations in the dar us-salam version.
Riyad-us-Saliheen is a wonderful book consisting of Verses from Quran and the Hadiths (Traditions) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regarding to various aspects of live and provides guidance for them in the light of Quran and Sunnah. The chapters are formed with a very good sequence and this book is beneficial for everyone who seeks guidance in life in the light of Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Saya gak ngomong isinya yah. Soalnya saya bisa jadi terbakar kalo ngomong isinya. *penjahat jujur mode on*
Gitu deh.. gak nyambungkan?
Buku bagus. Buat saya nambah tahu info soal hadis aja. Biar tahu itu hadis bukan pepatah. Jangan layak salah satu artis sinetron kemaren. Kan saya mau main sinrtron soalnya. :D
read this because i promised my mom i would do so. this somehow made me believe in islam less than i already did (which is quite a feat lol). it鈥檚 crazy because for years i was just vaguely not convinced by any of it, but now that i鈥檝e read the passages for myself i鈥檓 like ohhhhhh okayyy. you guys r in a cultttt, got it !
This is one of the most beneficial collections of hadeeth narrations by an exemplary scholar, Imaam an-Nawawee, may Allaah have mercy upon him. Its excellence and merit has been acknowledged by the previous as well as modern scholars of the Muslim Ummah. It has numerous explanations from the scholars of the people of the Sunnah and adherence to the Jamaa'ah that enable us to understand the abundant guidance of its hadeeth narrations- both generally and practically. From among the most comprehensive explanations of this work in the English language, one which guides towards both the inward and outward rectification of a worshipper upon the 'believers way' of the first Muslim generations, is that of Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-'Utheimeen, may Allaah have mercy upon him.
This book is an excellent collection of hadith and stories. However, sometimes the author's efforts at connecting it to our current timeline with examples seem to be highly pessimistic, especially against women, ignoring any mention of society members who are on the right path and do follow Islam.
Bought this one thinking it was the most common version out there, but there are barely any credentials for Salahuddin Yusuf online and it seems that he only got the opportunity to write the commentary because he was the Head of Darussalam鈥檚 Research Division in Lahore. The commentaries are short and get to the point which is nice but I worry that there is a wisdom I am missing out on.
Terrible translation of hadeeth #2
Interpretations and different opinions should not be put into the translations. This should be left for the commentary section. Translating it this way ruins the hadeeth. Convey what the Messenger said exactly and perfectly. Doing otherwise goes against his explicit command (Abi Dawuud 3660). It is enraging to see ahadeeth mistranslated or translated with an opinion or explanation in mind. These two should be kept separate (e.g. this is done to Hadeeth #25)

Read chapter 56 if you lose the desire to fast

what can i say.. a book that麓s stands for almost a century. imam nawawi literally put his life on these books. and we the forerunners just can step on his shoulder to grasp the understanding of the phrophetic advice. however, a people with shallow basic understanding of islamic laws like me, might also need to read an additional tafseer book for this. so you can understand the true meaning. of what imam nawawi trying to achive on this book.
after all. it should be a must read book. for all muslim, just after you have read it, you麓ll know why.
actually i have BI edition, but the ISBN didn't hit anywhere, so, i just register this edition into my shelf..
As one of the most recommended books to have on every Muslims bookshelf I couldn't agree more. This two book volume set is built to shape the Muslim and his/her character into the best of molds in which he/she was originally built. The accompanying commentary after each hadith brings relevant context to the reader. I really enjoyed this read and recommend it to Muslims and non-Muslims.
This is indeed a great book. As a new Muslim, this book was easy to read and understand. It is especially nice to do discussions with a study group for each chapter. The teachings were great and helpful. I have to say, I really had a great time reading this book with my fellow students during the summer of 2006 (I believe).
