If you can't fight the good fight, what are you fighting for?Though she's new to the resistance, Jessie Ramsey and the crew of the Arete are the spearhead of an assault that's been years in the making. They've uncovered the heart of a sinister alien conspiracy to hide the existence of ongoing human labor camps, and on a scale that's unlike anything any of the heroes have seen before.

They have a target.

They have a goal.

What they need is a plan, and that's a tall order when the idea is to rescue a small city's worth of captive laborers.

But like all good plans, this one comes together when someone unexpected suggests something unthinkable, and the impossible suddenly doesn't look so impossible anymore. The mission is on, and the stakes are too high to fail.

The Eyndar Empire isn't going to know what hit them!

Rescue Like a Hurricane is the twelfth mission of Black Passage of Time, a science fantasy series set in the late 26th century. What if Futurama jumped 5 years ahead instead of 1000? I am a creator of worlds and a destroyer of words. As a fantasy writer, my works range from traditional epics to futuristic fantasy with starships. I have worked as an unpaid Little League pitcher, a cashier, a student library aide, a factory grunt, a cubicle drone, and an engineer--there is some overlap in the last two.

Through it all, though, I was always a storyteller. Eventually I started writing books based on the stray stories in my head, and people kept telling me to write more of them. Now, that's all I do for a living.

I enjoy strategy, worldbuilding, and the fantasy author's privilege to make up words. I am a gamer, a joker, and a thinker of sideways thoughts. But I don't dance, can't sing, and my best artistic efforts fall short of your average notebook doodle. When you read my books, you are seeing me at my best.

My ultimate goal is to be both clever and right at the same time. I have it on good authority that I have yet to achieve it.

The Arete's crew is finally closing in on their big goal. They have discovered the location of an enemy slave farm, and noting will stop them from liberating everyone there. The only problem is that early reports have the number of people to be rescued in the hundreds of thousands. That's way more than our crew can handle. A bold plan has them procuring the "supplies" they need for their mission of mercy. Now all it will take is some daring action to pull off the greatest rescue mission ever seen.
Meanwhile, Carl, Hadrian (aka Mort) and Sparta are trying to track the Arete's trail and catch up, which means consistently running into the aftermath.
Yet again we find ourselves at the end of a story arc, and once again I don't want it to end. This read was a wild ride that leaves me wanting more, and waiting for the next exploits of our crew.

Is it a rescue mission? Is it a heist? Is it a space battle? It's all of these and more

This series has been building and building, and now we see some proper space-opera stuff. Captains Jessie and Jamie Ramsay and the crews of Arete and Scylla have found out about a planet with far too many captive humans for even the giant-sized Arete to handle. Everyone needs to up their game, and time is running out. The result is an epic adventure involving facing down warships and fighters from both Mars and Eyndar, a cunning heist, the biggest rescue-under-fire the team have ever encountered, and even a biker gang who won't take no for an answer.

A great fun romp though space in the classic Morin style, with all the usual interpersonal threads in the background.

The title is quite apt, as the crews seek a way to liberate a whole planet of unsuspecting humans from slavery. In order to do so, they need a bigger ship, which puts them in contention with Mars. Jessie commits to the endeavour with a firmness of purpose that her crew backs with more coherence than ever.

I liked seeing the rescue efforts through Jasmine's eyes.
