Rei T¨ma (Japanese: ÌÙég û,T¨ma Rei) has been drawing since childhood, but she only began drawing manga because of her graduation project in design school. When she drew a short-story manga, "Help me dentist" (¥Ø¥ë¥× me ¥Ç¥ó¥Æ¥£¥¹¥È), it attracted a publisher's attention and she made her debut right away. Her magnificent art style became popular, and after she debuted as a manga artist, she became known as an illustrator for novels and video game character designs.
Dawn of the Arcana is her first long-running manga series, and it has been a hit in Japan, selling over a million copies.
I had some funny feels about Loki, but this volume definitely changed how I feel about him as a character. He¡¯s been through so much trying to be by Nakaba¡¯s side. The decisions that he was forced to make, the lives he was forced to take to protect her was astounding. I can see why there¡¯s such a strong connection between the two of them. We also get to see some heartwarming moments between Caesar and Nakaba. Ready to dive into the next volume!
Ooooooh Loki¡¯s backstory seems pretty messed-up and complex so I am interested to find out what other secrets he harbours! And I¡¯m really liking how we¡¯re seeing more of Princess Nakaba using the Arcana of Time - I know this is going to be the crux of the story!
Princess Nakaba of Senan and Prince Caesar of Belquat marry to seal a peace treaty between the 2 nations sharing the same island. Caesar is ready to hate Nakaba before he even really meets her simply because this is a political marriage and she has red hair instead of the royal black. Then he starts to get to know Nakaba and she totally changes his point of view. And he realizes maybe red hair is something special after all...
Caesar has always taken a backseat it trying to control Nakaba or even be in her business at all! So I'm not surprised that he's chosen to let her do her thing but it makes us heart sore... (it is a very modern view of coupleship). Some of the best drawings in the series so far!! (surrounding Caesar telling Nakaba he's leaving) I'm worried for him now!! I like that she declared herself to Caesar before he left and didn't allow hi to drive her away...
Nakaba immediately gets into trouble with Prince Batal... who is forcing Nakaba's ability to the surface... We learn about some pretty awful circumstances that Loki was in trying to be by Nakaba's side, really I don't understand why Nakaba and Loki aren't the couple when she's always seeing stuff about him... Will she find another unlocked door, a more helpful one?
BOTTOM LINE: Will Nakaba master the Arcana of Time?
This volume seems to be where the author started getting better at plotting. Before this volume, it was kind of choppy, rushed in places, and a bit of a train wreck. But after this, it steadily improved
As always it was amazing with amazing art. In this one we get to see Cesar and Nakaba actually declare their love in a more intimate setting, making it more real for Cesar. We also had to see Rito's hopelessness for his mom. It's rough. I really wonder if they'll be able to save her.
I was pretty torn between giving this a 3 star or a 2, there's nothing wrong with it, but I felt less engaged and a bit bored. So as bad as it makes me feel, I can't justify a higher rating.
Nakaba's arcana is still really cool, and it's interesting to see her go back and forth in time, learning new things about people and getting a better insight into who they are, like Loki. The more volumes I read, the more he grows on me as a person, and as a potential love interest (though I still like Caesar).
One of my biggest gripes with this series so far, has to be the insta-love. It's hard to fully buy Nakaba and Caesar's level of devotion to each other, it feels like they've only known each other a month or something. I like them, but I just want a more satisfying arch for their relationship.
I think I'll take a short break from this series, read some other things, and then I'll come back and finish the story.
I read this volume a few days ago and just flipped through the pages to try refresh myself on the details. Basically Caesar decides to go back to Belquat because, reasons. Akhil's creepy older brother decides that Nakaba must be someone of importance so ties her up and she accesses the Arcana to see memories of Loki. She discoveries the lengths her friend has gone to keep her happy, including murdering a noble. I feel like this is a transitional volume, the backstory was really good but I'm bored of their time in the desert already.
I enjoyed this volume. It was good, but not a lot happened as far as the current plot. However, we got to see Caesar & Nakaba¡¯s relationship grow ever so closer. Caesar has the romantic ¨¦lan and grace of a punch in the face, so I¡¯m not sure if he¡¯s my favorite guy in that department. In contrast, Nakaba¡¯s faces were heartbreaking as their relationship came to a clumsy climax.
We got to see more of the arcana of time, and a very dark peek into Nakaba¡®s and Loki¡¯s past. I like where the story is going. 3 1/2 stars
Ohhhh I hated when Caesar pushed Nakaba away but I love that she said something about it instead of running off, thinking he hates her! She told him like it is and he stopped being aloof. The cuddles afterwards were too cute.
Later on, Nakaba used her arcana of time and was able to see how far Loki takes his job of protecting her. Are we sure this is romantic love? I feel like he kind of raised her! He¡¯s like a dad almost!
Aaaaand we're back to the dysfunctional relationship. I still think Loki's feelings toward Nakaba are creepy considering he practically raised her. Romantic grooming will always be creepy to me. I also don't know how this ability will work or if Loki is actually telling the truth about the Arcana of Time.
This series continues to have strong characters and a good plot. I like that the volumes all have character/plot summaries (even though I'm not reading them right now since I am binge-reading the series). I was sad there was no bonus "Arcana High" chapter in this volume, but that's okay. I'm looking forward to seeing how the plot will continue.
We all have periods of inner turmoil, and this was focused a bit too much on that aspect in my opinion. Not quite enough action. I also came to appreciate Nakaba's character growth, but now she seems to be converting back to her old ways not sharing her feelings with others. I hope to see these struggles resolved or working towards resolution in the next issues.

This volume gives tons of special moments between Nakaba and Caesar. I also enjoy seeing more into Loki's past and also the politic struggles between the brothers of Lithuanel.
I keep waffeling around with the rating on these volumes, but the tension and plot seems to be ramping up as we get nearer to the last few volumes left.
