On her first visit to Clan Stonefire, Department of Dragon Affairs inspector Evie Marshall has an ulterior motive--she needs to seduce its clan leader. If she can't seduce him and become his mate, the dragon hunters will kill her. Of course, Evie doesn't know the first thing about seducing a man, let alone a dragon-shifter, but with her life on the line, she's going to have to become a fast learner or die trying.
Bram Moore-Llewellyn has a track record of scaring off DDA inspectors, but when the latest inspector shows up wearing tight clothes and a sexy smile, his inner dragon takes notice. While battling his attraction to the human, he soon finds himself with an impossible choice: he can either break the law to mate the female and risk a backlash from both the dragon hunters and the British government, or he can turn her away and let her die at the hands of the hunters.
NOTE: This is the complete second story arc of the Stonefire Dragons and contains all four parts of Seducing the Dragon. 18+ / HEA
Next Up: Feb 26th - Revealing the Dragons, about what happens when Melanie release her book. (Available for pre-order)
Jessie Donovan has sold over half a million books, has given away hundreds of thousands more to readers for free, and has even hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller lists. She is best known for her dragon-shifter series, but also writes about magic users, aliens, and even has a crazy romantic comedy series set in Scotland. When not reading a book, attempting to tame her yard, or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found interacting with her readers on Facebook. She lives near Seattle, where, yes, it rains a lot but it also makes everything green.
This one was a big improvement over the first book. It had funny moments, interactions between characters felt more normal, side plot was good and the author even laid down the bait for the next book and made it interesting.
Seducing the Dragon is not a 3 stars book compared to my other 3 stars reviews. I gave 1 stars to the books better than this but some kind of witchery is at work here because I am going with the feeling...
I just hate it when writers establish rules in one book and then bend them in another. This is especially irritating for a paranormal or fantasy series, where you think you've gotten a good feel of how the world works already, only to be surprised by some cheap magic trick designed to justify the hero and heroine's HEA.
That's what happened here. In book 1, it was said that when you find your mate, you go into some sort of mating frenzy once you get into contact with him or her—through a kiss, if I remember correctly—and that's how you'll know that it's the real thing. But I guess to add an element of drama to the story, the writer chose to modify it in this book. I'm not going to go into specifics, but everything just felt forced and too damn convenient. Yawn.
I liked Bram in Melanie and Tristan's story, but he was just really weird in this one. His whole conversations with his inner dragon ranged from odd to just plain ridiculous. There were also some new dragonshifter facts that were introduced here, which I believe should have been established or highlighted in the previous book.
Evie, on the other hand, was such an unremarkable heroine. I didn't hate her, but I didn't love her too. She was just... there. Like a picture frame that you've always had but barely notice.
Overall, this was barely okay. The sex was great, I'll give it that. But in terms of actual plot and execution, this was just meh. I would recommend it if you liked the first book and would want to continue on with the series. But as a stand-alone? No.
I debated on the stars. It's a slightly ridiculous world where one's dragon talks to the human side and keeps secrets and is horny.
But the story was fun. Much better than the first book in the series.
I liked how quickly the heroine is able to be straightforward and honest about her needs. And how they are able to talk most things out.
My only major caveat is that this book is set up to show two people that can't have children getting together. I loved that setup. I'm not a big fan of the "you're only true mates if y'all can have bio children together". And sadly, the author goes down that route after a more promising and inclusive setup.
A minor caveat is the weird consent issues related to the dragon part. The heroine has to clobber the dragon to make him give her a break from sex. It's written humorously but it's not my favorite. You should be able to say "no" to your partner and have them hold back.
Safety deets - no other women or other men. Neither are virgins but we also don't hear about their past lovers either which is nice. - We get to see them get their happily ever after

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Received the ebook from the author from an honest review This bundle (Box set) is Stonefire Dragons #5-8 is the second story and a complete serial series. Okay, I think Jessie is my favorite serial author :) That’s not to say that I don’t scream and yell that I want the Stonefire books to be full novels while reading them ;) She does such an awesome job with her serials. She stops them in just the right places that make sense (at least to my crazy brain!) I have no trouble making the story and characters come alive in my head while reading her serials, and I have yet to have a problem connecting with the characters which has happened in other serials where I just couldn’t connect with the characters until the 2nd or 3rd installment.
Part One If you don’t know my reviews, I don’t really talk about the plot and things happening in the story because I never want to spoil someone else’s adventure in the book. I do talk about the characters though :) Evie is awesome because she won’t take anyone’s you know what. I love when the female lead is a strong woman. I love when they fight back and stick up for themselves. With Bram, I’m torn because I sort of already loved him because of the first serial series, but he does have his need to be slapped moments as any alpha man does ;) There is plenty of drama and action to fill the pages while you learn about Evie and her predicament. I really can’t wait for more of this series!! I really loved it!!
Part Two I really like Evie, and Bram and his dragon totally rock. In this episode, you definitely learn some things and meet a new dragon, but you will have to read it to know what happens because I refuse to ruin your adventure.
Part Three This story was over way too fast!! There is definitely plenty of drama and action going on. I really love Evie and her personality. Bram and his dragon definitely make me chuckle. And Finn is also funny especially when he is pushing Bram’s buttons :)
Part Four Jessie’s writing style is so easy to get sucked into and imagine being right there in the action. Her descriptions and creativity just amaze me. I wish I could be this creativity, but I’m not so I’m just continue to be a bookaholic :)
Lots of action and conflict with the dragon hunters making you want to devour the book. Evie is really amazing with her brilliance and clear headed problem solving. She knows how to handle both dragons and dragon hunters. Bram has amazing strength, and he is a great leader. Evie is his perfect match. But shifter books are my go to reads, so I’m a bit biased too :)
I highly recommend the entire series to any dragon shifter lovers!! This series rocks!!
Seducing the Dragon is bk2 in the Stonefire British Dragon series. This is Clan leader Bram Moore-Llewellyn's and DDA/Department of Dragon Affairs agent Evie Marshall story. Evie has been told by the human hunters that if she is to infiltrate Stonefire Clan and Mate with its leader Bram or they will kill her. DDA agents have been disappearing. On the pretense of investigating the death of a human sacrifice Caitriona Belmont who died giving birth to her dragon shifter baby and to check on the baby boy Murray. Evie is allowed access to Clan Stonefires territory. She is going to seduce Bram into mating her.
Bk 2 is slightly better then bk 1 but bk1 was free on Amazon!! The author has still failed greatly in creating any type of community or world for the Dragons. They live in cottages thats about it. I still don't know what they eat, the only thing they seem to drink is tea, do they drive cars?, what does the inside of the cottages look like?, what kind of jobs do they do?. Is it a town they live?. Just Nothing Jessie Donovan has not written anything substantial to establish a community or world for the dragons. They just exist!! From what I can glean its like they live on some kind of reservation like Native Americans but with less opportunity. The male dragons shifter are Not very smart and don't come across as Alpha Males. The entire community is always bested by Carlisle Human Dragon Hunters. They are better written and are much smarter and ahead of the game then the Dragon Shifters. They capture and drain the dragon shifters of there blood and sell the dragon body parts as souvenirs. The blood heals all sort of terminal illness. I wanted too scream at the author and say you kill off the villains and NOT the good guys. They are suppose to win but not in her stories so far. Seducing the Dragon was particularly sad as Charlie one of the female dragon protectors is captured and drained of her blood and dies. I want to ask the author what happen to the dragons shifters offense being prepared for attacks that you know are coming? The dragons inside the humans are just nothing more then horny teenage males. All they think about his having sex and speaking juvenile trashy words.
I got book 1 Sacrifice to the Dragon free on Amazon, but I paid for bk2 Seducing the Dragon and I am sorely disappointed. So I won't be reading anymore of Ms. Donovans stories, her writing is juvenile. If you take the sex out which is generic sex and dirty words, but if you take that out then the story is more suited for a elementary school reader!!
I cannot Recommend Seducing the Dragon unless you can get it free, but its not worth paying money for!!
There are so many emotional highs and lows in this book. The author really made Evie such a strong character, she was the perfect mate for Bram. Even with everything going on she kept Bram on his toes I also liked how Arabella is slowly finding her way. Even with the lose the clan goes through the story ends with a fantastic HEA. I can’t wait to read all about the next HEA from this author.
2.5 stars. I swear the writing would be much improved if the author of this book learned to write dialogue properly. All the “and then he said and “she replied and other unnecessary overused intros to speech were really grating on me. Literally every time a character talked, something similar was included. It was hard to focus on the story at times.
The other issue I had with this book was how stupid the heroine was. She was “smart-stupid ... where then supposedly they are smart because people call them that in the book...but they actually act like morons. She was too pushy and outspoken considering she was walking into an unknown situation. She also attempted to make some good decisions but they mostly all ended up badly.

I Just love all of Ms Donovan Books, and I ABSOLUTELY love her Dragon Series. Jessie Donovan is one AWESOME, CREATIVE, IMAGINATIVE writer one that if you have not read one of her books you are missing GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. Now for teasers from Seducing the Dragon books 5-8 that will wheel you in make you want to read all of Ms.Donovan books.
Book one: Evie is here to visit the Stonefire Clan Leader Bram Moore-Llewellyn, Evie is a DDA ( Dragon Department Affairs ) she has decided that she needs to seduced Bram into helping her, so she dress the part her clothes are fitting her curves and she is wearing heels when she normally wear flats. Bram is attracted to Evie and he wants to bed her, but he doesn't trust her. Bram's Dragon is ready to claim Evie even though Bram the man is resisting. Bram and Evie are betting each other in order to win the others flavor. They are enjoying each other so by the end of book one Evie has gotten Bram to want her to stay and bed him. I know I know it makes you happy you have the Box Set to read on to book two :-)
Book two: Evie has decided that she needs to help Bram solve Caitriona death. She is introduced to a female dragon protector name Nikki, Evie loves to bargain with the Dragons to get what she wants and she needed to meet Melanie, But as Evie is dress to leave the leader of the Scottish Lochguard clan is in Bram's office, Bram steps out to see Evie off and he pause as he get a look at what Evie is wearing he feels hisself feeling possessive and his Dragon wants to claim her, Evie feels there is nothing wrong with her clothes as they argue the Lochguard leader comes out and introduces hisself as Finn Stewart Bram's dragon is not happy he tells Bram he likes Evie of course Bram ignores the dragon tells Evie she can't leave unless she wears the coat Evie gives in. Evie meets Tristan first and he is very protective of Melanie and the twins, she is then introduce to Melanie who warns Evie if she hurts Bram she will make Evie pay, Evie absorbs Melanie 's actions because she knows Melanie considers Bram her leader. Melanie then introduce Aribella her sister-in-law who was holding the twins. Evie tells Melanie and Aribella her ideas regarding Caitriona death, Aribella is intrigued and shows Evie some files on her laptop. At Bram's cottage he and Finn discuss the alliance between the two clans. Ok I know you don't want to stop well the good thing is you are reading the Boxed Set so you just turn the page.
Book three: Ok things are just getting better and better. The storyline picks up with Bram talking to Kai about Evie theory about the Dragonman that mated with Caitriona. Bram and Kai discuss a Dragonman to be added to guarding another prisoner. Bram agree then he tells Kai that he is going to mate with Evie and announce it at the ceremony. Evie is waiting with Mel for Samira to help her dress in the dragons traditional dress for the gathering. Aribella is also getting dress in traditional dress for the gathering that Bram ordered her to attend. At ceremony Bram is wishing he and Evie was back the cottage but he must make the announcement about the alliance and his making Evie his mate. After the announcement he saw Finn talking to Aribella so he warns Finn off. Aribella was having a hard time believing Finn was Flirting with. Finn couldn't believe Aribella was afriad to talk to him. Bram was frowning at Finn and Aribella when a Dragonman told him Murray had been Kidnapped. Bram is taking Evie to his secret place to protected her. Well I know you can't wait to read book four and the end.
Book four: Bram's Dragon is in control and he wants to bed Evie until she is prengant. Bram is trying to talk his dragon into letting him be in charge but his dragon tells Bram that only he can protect her. Evie pretends to be a sleep telling herself that she loves getting sex around the clock like any other girl but she needs to find a way to help Bram to take control of the Dragon, but the dragon is determine to claim Evie until she's carrying.. The clan is in need of Bram's leadership at the moment because it's in trouble. Of course Evie finds a way that most would not think of. ( you should read the book to find out how she did it ), Once Bram's in control he thanks her but asks her to please find a less painful way next time. Bram's must meet with the clan but he leaves Evie with two dragon protectors. Evie is Kidnapped with her two protectors. Then Evie meets the banish Dragonman as she is waiting to be rescued. Unfortunately some don't make it but are killed and Bram's Dragon holds a secret.
This series has drama, mysteries, love, sacrifices, hot hot love scenes, fighting and laughter. Dragons that are devoted to human female, women who will do what it takes for their loves. I hope you will enjoy the ending as I did.
This is the best way to read these books. Book 1. On her first visit to Clan Stonefire, Department of Dragon Affairs inspector Evie Marshall has an ulterior motive—she needs to seduce its clan leader. If she can’t seduce him and become his mate, the dragon hunters will kill her. Of course, Evie doesn’t know the first thing about seducing a man, let alone a dragon-shifter, but with her life on the line, she’s going to have to become a fast learner or die trying. Bram Moore-Llewellyn has a track record of scaring off DDA inspectors, but when the latest inspector shows up wearing tight clothes and sexy smile, his inner dragon takes notice. While battling his attraction to the human, he soon finds himself with an impossible choice: he can either break the law to mate the female and risk a backlash from both the dragon hunters and the British government, or he can turn her away and let her die at the hands of the hunters.
Book 2 Bram and Evie are discussing Bram's statement that she should move in with him. He won't answer her definitively that he will mate her but he does want to have sex with her. She tells him she will stop arguing with him on the condition that he show her around the clan lands tomorrow. He thinks that's ok, he has an early morning meeting and needs to get some rest beforehand because the meeting is with the alpha leader of a neighboring dragon clan who Bram wants to ally with his clan against the dragon hunters. Needless to say, he gets no sleep because she's in the next room and he can't stop thinking about having sex with her. Evie wants to go visit the clan doctor, Cassidy but she has to explain to Nikki before Nikki consents to take her. This is where we find out that Cait's autopsy showed extremely high levels of dragon venom and she wants to make sure that this would be unusual and find out how it could happen. There is a whole section about their discussion and findings but afterwards Nikki and Evie rush back to Bram's cottage and Evie tells him she has to talk to him ASAP. He gets rid of Finn and then they talk. She tells Bram she thinks Cait was murdered. Nikki gives her opinions on the how and they all come to the conclusion that there is a traitor in the clan. Book 3 picks up with Bram talking to one of his protectors, Kai. They are discussing Evie’s theory about Neil, Murray’s father being in with the hunters. Kai recalls that Neil’s exgirlfriend has been making a lot of trips off the clan lands lately and maybe she is the traitor. They are pretty sure there is one on the inside. In the meantime Melanie and Samira are getting Evie ready for the party. They are having a conversation about Bram and what has been going on with the hunters. We also find out that Ara is going to the party and it’s the first time in at least a decade that she has been out in public to a party. Bram has asked her to talk to Finn about security and how they will communicate securely with the other clan. Ara meets Finn and finds that she does feel the panic that normally comes from talking to dragonmen. They go off and have a discussion and Ara even tolerates Finn’s touch (hmmm…possible mates?) Book 4 The story starts where the last book left us...in the cave with Bram in a mate frenzy. Evie is sleeping or feigning sleep while she thinks of a way to bring the human side of Bram back to the surface. She decides to go to the bathroom & look for something to use as a weapon. It is vital that Bram's human side come back in control or the clan could very well perish. The only thing she can find is a plunger so she takes it with her when she leaves the bathroom to confront Bram. He is insisting on sex and she tells him to let the human side back in control, which Bram's dragon refuses. So she whacks him between the legs a couple times before the dragon side lets go. When Bram's human side returns (& after rolling around in pain for a bit) they make plans for Bram to return to the clan and leave two of the female dragon guards with Evie. The ending is really great but I don’t want to spoil it. Suffice it to say it’s happy. I have given brief but not comprehensive summaries of each book but left out many, many of the good parts, afterall you don't want me to spoil it for you.
When I was listening to the first part of this book, I thought it was going to be same old, same old with the first book. Lots of s*x and not much else. I'm glad I persevere as the world expanded in the second half and we get to see more of the Dragon Hunters and some first-hand action. Also, the darker theme made this book a lot more than just erotica. At least now I'm going to read the 3rd book rather than giving up on this series.
Oh my gosh this was so good. I liked this more than the first book, which I didn't think was possible. This book just made me so happy. I freaking love Bram. He is gorgeous, respectful, sexy, dominant, caring, loving, and everything I want in a male character. He has a possessiveness that rivals that of Tristan from Sacrificed to the Dragon, the first book, which to be honest I did not think was possible. Bram treats her with respect, which I really appreciated. I also really loved Evie's character. She is so full of sass and it was like one of my favorite things about her. I love how she always puts Bram in his place and how she is never afraid to speak her mind. She is strong, she's beautiful, and just a great character in general.
I also really enjoyed Finaley's character. The sass levels in this motherfucker were astronomical and I loved every scene where he was in it. He's flirty and sexy, but is also willing to get things done. He's willing to do whatever it takes to save those he cares about, to help those who need it. He's an alpha, but he's unlike any other alpha we've read about in the series, so I just really enjoyed his character. And I ship him hardcore with Arabella.
I also really loved seeing Melanie and Tristan again. We really get to see what someone else's view of him is. He seems like such an asshole and in this book, Evie is curious as to why Melanie fell for him. We only got to see Melanie's side of things last time. We see how rough around the edges he is and how fiercely protective he is of his family and his interactions with his sister, how protective of her he is. I also loved seeing the interactions between Melanie and Tristan from another person's point of view because they are so cute and it just made my heart burst with happiness every time they interacted!
The story line was freaking fabulous. I love what Jessie does with her books. She will have two story lines working at the same time and I love that. I love the love story that is told in this book and the other story line is so kickass. So much shit goes down and you just really come to know the problem that we are introduced to in the last book, but comes full circle in this book. It was so interesting to learn about this problem and I hope this problem gets fixed and the leader of this problem dies in the fiery pits of hell.
One of my favorite parts about this story was the interactions between Bram and his dragon. The way they argue was the most hilarious thing ever. I would literally have to stop reading I was laughing so hard. It was so comical! This has always been one of my favorite things about this series.
But this has got me so excited for the next novel in this series. I know there is another novella but I am debating on reading it. The next novel for this series was introduced, I believe, in this book and it has me so excited to read it. If you haven't picked up this book/series yet, I highly recommend that you do because it is one hell of a ride!
Evie arrives at Clan Stonefire determined to seduce a dragon, Bram Moore-Llewellyn is faced with an impossible choice: he can either break the law and mate the sexy inspector or he can turn her away and let her die at the hands of the hunters in this exciting paranormal romance.
Evie captures the heart and attention of the readers right off the bat with her quick wit and courageous plan to save her own life. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as she approaches Bram with her deal to help him in exchange for his help and Bram is faced with an impossible situation. The chemistry between Bram and Evie is hot enough to set Bram’s scales on fire and the sex scenes explode with a fiery intensity that scorches readers but the relationship has a few obstacles, it is really against the law for Bram to take Evie as his mate and the dirt bag hunters want Evie for their own nefarious purposes. These strong captivating characters are quite combustible as the take Clan Stonefire, the hunters and the readers by storm in this fast paced and smooth flowing romance full of suspense, excitement and passion.
Bram’s dragon adds lots of intrigue to their relationship as he is keeping secrets and determined to mate with Evie which causes a few intense arguments between Bram and his dragon. There is never a dull moment as the hunters cause lots of trouble including kidnapping a baby dragon but there is also lots of excitement going politically inside the clan as well as Bram is negotiating with another clan leader for an alliance against the hunters because those evil doers are certainly up to something very, very twisted.
The well written scenes and details paint vivid images that capture the imagination and bring the story to life and the well orchestrated suspense and excitement ensures that the reader can’t put the book down. Once again, Jessie Donovan had me spellbound from the very beginning and I can’t wait to read more Stonefire Dragon stories.
Overall: Evie is running for her life because dragon hunters want to kill her so she runs to the only safe place she can think of: Stonefire clan. At first she acts like a normal DDA agent, but slowly Bram starts to figure out that she has other intentions and he finally gets the truth out of her. She explains what is going on and asks that Bram takes her as his mate, but first Bram has to decide if she is trust worthy or not. While trying to prove her worth, Evie starts to become friends with the other dragon people and decides to lend Melanie a hand in writing her book. After this point, there is a bit of sex, a traitor in the clan and a big battle. In the end Bram and Evie get a VERY HEA!
Pros: I really loved how protective Bram was of his clan and Evie, even on first sight. I also loved that Evie was such a strong woman and was able to help out the clan and learn to adapt to living a dragon's life. The sex scenes were something hot and really well written. I also liked that we got to learn more about the dragon hunters and I hope that they get taken down soon.
Cons: I personally didn't have any cons with this story.
After the first glimpses of Bram in the first book, I was really looking forward to seeing his HEA. The world building was again great but the author did seem to change a couple things, not a bad thing just seemed like it was so that things "fit" better, a bit convenient I guess. Really enjoy the inner conversations Bram had with his Dragon, though this time it was the Dragon keeping secrets and it really showed that they are two beings with their own personalities! The h was again strong and feisty, though sometimes arguing for arguing's sake can get a bit old. I liked the introduction of the new clan leader, he seems like and interesting character. Looking forward to his book. Will definitely continue the series!!!!
The best part of this book was the fact that it sets you up for book #4. I didn't like the premise in the first place so I should have avoided it but I am glad I didn't. I did like the premise of book 4 and it's male character.
Here's a few problems I had in this book, the main female characters are always so "stubborn" and so annoying. She keeps saying how "clever" and "stubborn"/"strong" they are blah blah blah. There is little difference between this female main character and that of the female character from book 1.
The next problem are the dragon voices, there was little to no difference in the male characters dragon voices of book 1 and 2.
The good thing with book 4 is that she fixes this a bit.
This has got to be one of the best Dragon series I've read...All of Ms. Donovan's series are great, but I loved Bram the best of the Dragon Shifters.
The way Evie sets out to seduce Bram is awesome, but little does she know that she is going to be swept off her feet by this Sexy, enigmatic Dragonman and I mean literally!
The trials and tribulations they encounter along the way are exciting.
Jessie Donovan has done it again! Seducing the Dragon was another fantastic read in the Stonefire Dragons series. ÌýThe steam and romance were definitely top-notch, but what I really appreciate about Donovan's writing is her ability to craft such compelling characters. Even though her world-building could use a little more detail (I'd love to get a richer sense of the environment!), her character development is spot on. ÌýI absolutely adored Evie in this book.
She's such a strong, determined woman, and I was rooting for her from the very beginning. ÌýSeeing her go after what she wanted, especially when it came to Bram, was so inspiring. And speaking of Bram... wow! ÌýThe leader of the Stonefire dragons was completely captivated by Evie, and their first meeting was electric. ÌýThe tension between them practically sizzled throughout the entire book, making those already amazing sex scenes even more intense. Ìý🔥 Ìý
Let's say I might be "borrowing" a few of those sensual moves for my husband! 😉But enough about the steamy stuff! ÌýI'm eager to continue the series and see what Revealing the Dragon has in store. ÌýOn to the next book!
Evie needs protection and her plan is simple: seduce the clan Stonefire leader Bram and ensure his protection of her. With her in dragon land, the hunters and DDA can’t get to her.
Bram is already on edge after his clan was attacked by hunters and one of the women offered to his clan as sacrifice’s has died, leaving behind an orphan boy. So when a woman comes by from the DDA to investigate, he’s not happy. And when that woman is Evie and she entices him and his dragon, the stoic dragonman might’ve finally met his match.
I fell in love with this world with the first book of the series and the second one managed to top that! I absolutely adored Evie and her fire and passion! She knows what she wants and needs and she isn’t afraid of going head to head with the clan leader. She was just wonderful!
Bram is a wonderful leader and seeing his inner battles with his dragon as a delight to witness. And he definitely fell first, his dragon falling head over heels for Evie is so good to witness. Their spark and chemistry was evident from their first meeting and these two trading quips is something I could’ve read for ages and ages.
Some of the plot from the first book bled into this one so you’ll need to read these books in order to understand everything. There are also changing POVs, so keeping track of dragon shifters and humans is easier when you’ve already been introduced to them in the first book.
I can’t wait to continue with this series, I am really invested in this series as a whole!
I just love this series and this writer. I love the romance and adventure she takes you and I love the flow of the book and the banter between the two character's. I also love that she includes the characters from the previous books.
This book is the story of Bram and Evie, Bram is the clan leader and Evie works for DDA (department of Dragon Affairs). Evie is threaten by the dragon hunters and she hopes to seek the protection of Clan Stonefire's leader Bram, by seducing him. She always wanted to be a sacrifice for a dragon shifter but according to testing she was not compatible.
Bram is a great clan leader loved by is clan and respected. He always has put his clan above anything he needed or wanted to keep them safe. While meeting With Finn the leader of the lochguard dragons to form an alliance between the two clans another attack happens, and Finn and Bram must work together.
Bram's dragon knows that Evie is his true mate but doesn't want to share this with his Human form telling him he is not ready for the truth yet. But as things start to happen between them and his Dragon becomes more protective of her and wanting to be in control, than Evie and three dragon are kidnapped by the hunter's and a form clan member.
This is where the story starts will Finn and Bram trust each other enough to work together and save his mate and clan members and why is Finn so set on helping this clan? I guess you will have to read the book to find out,
Evie works for the Department of Dragon Affairs and because of it, she's being targeted by the dragon hunters. She comes up with a plan to secure her protection: seduce Bram, the leader of the Stonefire Dragon clan, so that he'll let her stay on their compound and keep her safe.
I'm gonna jump right into this one. First of all, Evie's plan is revealed to Bram almost immediately. There's no time to build up any sense of betrayal. In fact, Bram isn't even surprised or upset. Missed that opportunity for an interesting plot.
I know that Bram is the clan leader so he has to be more level-headed than, for example, the hero from Donovan's last book, Tristan. However, Bram is so calm that he almost doesn't have a personality. Even is dragon is quiet and analytical. His dragon also somehow manages to keep it a secret that Evie is his true mate and therefore resist the worst of the mate frenzy. LAME. I want frenzies! Evie is also almost an exact replica of the heroine from the last book, Melanie. Her only characteristic is that she's tough and outspoken, which for some reason makes her special.
However, Evie's personality is the only thing recycled in this book. Once again that major villain is the dragon hunters. But once again, the attack is minimal and the threat of a bigger attack looms. I don't care. I will not be reading a third book.
As with the first book, we have a strong-willed, confident, intelligent FMC. This MMC is the clan leader so he’s mostly level-headed, hard-headed, and protective.
In my review for the first book, I mentioned that I really dislike too many consecutive paragraphs of narrative/exposition. There were so many in this book I probably skipped 30 pages of it throughout the book. And guess what, I don’t think that detracted from my understanding of the story very much.
The stakes for the dragon clan in this story are much higher than the first. For myself, I wasn’t into it. And I stopped reading the book probably five times because my interest waned. We revisit characters from the first story as well as being introduced to several new ones. During the drama, we would read interactions between some of the side characters no doubt setting us up for their future books. The problem I have with this is that it seemed like very little of the story was about their budding relationship and more was about the drama with the dragon hunters and piquing interest in the forthcoming stories. Meh.
For myself, I was glad when the story was over. Not sure if I’ll read book 3. I thought things were promising after the first book, but I found this one disappointing.
This is really not that great. I just don't think the writing is very good. The general idea is good; this could have been great fantasy-romance. But the execution is lacking. The dialogue, particularly the inner dialogue, is simplistic and tends to repeat the obvious. Come to think of it, the characters are the same. The relationships are ridiculous; obligatory friction for about half a day, then instant mad love and sex. The female lead sets out to seduce one of the dragons and then acts offended when people are suspicious of her. Then it's pretending to have equality between men and women, but the 2 female protectors (dragons!) get overwhelmed by dragon hunters in about 3 seconds. At one point, one of the characters actually says: she is strong for a woman.
A lot of this I could have overlooked if only it had been written well... It's not like I was expecting high literature, I was ready for a predictable story and some simplicity. But this kind of book has been done by others, and then a while lot better. This is just amateurish.
