I had never heard of this story before! The rabbit in this story saves the people in his town from a mean lion. Nobody thought the rabbit could get rid of the lion, but he tricked the lion and the lion ended up falling down the well. This would be a good story to share with kids about not being afraid of being small!

Once again, Rabbit Ears never fail to amaze me in this new installment of folktales, this time starring that trickster of a rabbit, Brer Rabbit! “Rabbit Ears Tales of Brer Rabbit� is an audio cd that contains narration by Danny Glover and music from both Taj Mahal and Dr. John as we explore the wacky adventures of Brer Rabbit in this latest installment of the Rabbit Ears Treasury series.
Since I have already reviewed both Brer Rabbit stories, I will just briefly summarize each story:
Brer Rabbit and the Wonderful Tar Baby

In this tale, Brer Rabbit tries to outfox Brer Fox after Brer Fox builds a contraption called the Tar Baby to trap Brer Rabbit.
Brer Rabbit and Boss Lion
Told by: Danny Glover
Music by: Dr. John
In this tale, Brer Rabbit has his hands full when he encounters the terror of Boss Lion who tries to eat up all the citzens of Brer Village. It is up to Brer Rabbit to save the day!
What can I say? Rabbit Ears has never failed to amaze me with their broad range of celebrity narrators and well known musicians providing quality entertainment for both children and adults. Danny Glover is truly unbelievable in this audio cd about Brer Rabbit as he narrates both “Brer Rabbit� tales with such energy and enthusiasm that made both stories so irresistible! As for the music, the music for both tales is just truly wonderful to listen to and each musician brought their own unique style to each story. In “Brer Rabbit and the Wonderful Tar Baby,� Taj Mahal’s music is extremely soothing as he mainly uses a solo guitar to bring out the comfortable mood of the story, making any child just swoon with delight! In “Brer Rabbit and Boss Lion,� Dr. John’s music is truly inspiring and jazzy, as it brings out the true soul of this story and any blues fan will greatly appreciate Dr. John’s music to this tale.
Again, this audio cd is not accompanied by a book and that might upset many people who were fans of the Rabbit Ears series back in the 80s and 90s, however the celebrities� narration is still enjoyable to listen to, so many people would never be completely bored with these audio CDs.
All in all, “Rabbit Ears Tales of Brer Rabbit� is a truly wonderful audio cd for fans of the legendary Brer Rabbit tales and fans of Danny Glover will definitely enjoy for many years to come! I would recommend this audio cd to children ages five and up since the story “Brer Rabbit and Boss Lion� might worry smaller children who are concerned for the citizens of Brer Village.

Fantastic! Danny Glover's reading is fun, exciting and so well done! I loved the Brer Rabbit stories when I was a girl, these brought back many great memories of listening to my little record player with the read along books!
