I read the English translation version during Ramadhan and man, I benefited a lot from this book. The style of writing is easy (even with the Arabic version) and written for general readers but I highly recomended this book to any knowledge seeker especially one who study religion (Islamic courses).
This book is simple as it is a collection of Habib's article but well put together, forming a nice transition to read from chapter to chapter.
This book Habib touch on self reflections, politics, the current state of ummah (the reality, challenges and how to solves all of the problems we are facing this day) to heliocentric to the various story of our prophet Muhammad PBUH which captures my heart the most.
It's a light read for me but it is recommended to be read slowly as we ponder the questions and answers and by the end of the book, the thoughts ripen well which triggers more thoughts to ponder about.
I love this book dearly and I recomended this book to anyone who want to see a bigger picture of what is Islam is, away from what common (be it western or eastern) media is portraying right now.
I bought this book last year from Muhammad Abd Wahab during my peak moment working at Putrajaya.
I failed to finish reading this book last year because I lost it. Just found it again when I unpacked my items from my last office.
Alhamdulillah, I managed to wrap up this last night although I targeted this as my Maal Hijrah read. I bought it because of the author and the title.
This book is an English translation of a collection of articles written in Arabic between 2012 and 2014. The title, Humanity Before Religiosity is taken from one of the articles and also embodies the theme of the entire book. A short article but meaningful.
This book consists of eight-part, divided into specific themes starting namely from self-criticism up to our Prophet Muhammad.
This book works more like a good reminder of the very basic things in our religion. Somehow we regard it as small but the value is indeed very big and important.
Recommended as light reading and 鈥檛azkirah鈥, not really good for someone who expects on theory or philosophical discussion.
鈥漌hile true religion (din) is originated by God and thus divinely preserved, religiosity (tadayyun) is how humans understand and practice religion. Religiosity is thus part and parcel of human experience. In other words, humanity is the vessel that carries religiosity. Should one鈥檚 humanity not be sound, one鈥檚 religiosity will not be sound. Hence, the core message in this book, humanity before religiosity.鈥
A very precious gem of a book. Explained very well the current condition of Islam today especially in the middle East area. Shaykh also explained the remedies to the problems we face today and one of them is to send salam (greetings of peace), among many others.
It is a recommended book to all Muslims as it dispel many myths of the religion tainted by the Islamic extremists.
This was a really good read. I was told about this by multiple people who kept reccomending me to read it. The translators do a great job by putting this into simple English enabling anyone to find it an easy and straightforward read.
