LGBT Erotic Contemporary, Yaoi Heaven Sent; Previous Faith
The week before Heaven Sent's New Year's performance, Brent fractures his hand, which puts him out of commission for the show. Fortunately, it's not permanent, but it leaves he and Hell dealing with the "what if," not to mention Brent's jealousy of the guitarist taking his place. As the band members and their partners struggle to adjust, the stress brings their personal issues to
* Tyler wants to be a parent but he's not sure Johnnie will agree. Johnnie feels the strain in their relationship, but doesn't know how to make it right.
* Luc has gotten a big break in a new movie, but his new co-star wants more than his onscreen love. Reese trusts Luc, but he can't help loathing his leading lady.
* Chris takes a job that will keep him away from Darien over the New Year's. If that weren't bad enough, Chris's new client is his ex, and Darien knows the ex wants Chris back.
Heaven Sent needs more than a miracle to find their happily ever after. It needs...a new beginning..
Publisher's This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find male/male sexual practices.
Jet is a writer of sexual fantasy with a firm belief that all men are at least partially gay, that vampires are just people with a liquid diet and shapeshifters live on every block.
I love this series so much! The Heaven Sent men are all sexy, smart and complicated in their own way. Too bad they are a figment of Jet's imagination! UGH! While on Christmas vacation Brent, the band's guitarist breaks his hand. In the wake of a huge New Year's Eve concert, they must find a temporary replacement. Although, Brent had insisted that they do this, he is conflicted and is once again overwhelmed by self-doubts about his standing with the band and his relationship with Hell. (I love Hell) Meanwhile, Johnny and Tyler are settling into their marriage. When Johnny finds out that Tyler wants children, he is unsure of his abilities as a parent or even if he wants to be one. Darian and Chris's relationship is still fairly new. When Chris decides to represent his former lover as his lawyer, it puts a dark cloud over their budding relationship. Luc and Reese have gotten very serious, despite Luc's new acting career. Luc is plagued with a co-star that is spreading rumors that they are having an affair. Although, Reese believes him, it still puts a strain on their relationship. Everything comes to a head after the New Year's eve concert. This book has a very satisfying ending, but I really hated it for it to end. If you are interested in this series, I would recommend you start at the beginning and work your way to this book. Also, anyone who might like to branch out into the M/M romance, this series is a great one to feel out the waters...so to speak. One thing Jet does is write a great love story on top of sizzling chemistry and leaves this reader begging for more! If you are offended by HOT SEX and Naughty language this book is not for you.
I think Jet Mykles wants to reach two goal with this book: open some more possibilities for the continuing of the Heaven Sent series but at the same time informing her readers that, for the next future, we will not have more of the guys. Like a good food, you could grow tired of it if you eat to much, and so we have to savour our boys and waiting for them to be ready for a new adventure.
In Genesis all the four couples of the former books are main characters.
Brent has injured his hand and he can't play in the New Year's concert they will have in a new resort Genesis. He is the one who finds his substitute but seeing someone else playing so good with HIS band is not simple. And Hell has to convince his man that noone else could be his replacement and that they have something more important than only the music between them.
Tyler is beginning to want some more from his relationship with Johnnie that "only" exceptional sex. He is thinking to a family, but he is not sure whom will be the "mother". And then he is not sure this is the right moment to make a family, with Johnnie always on the road.
Reese is sure of Luc's love for him, but now that he is becoming a real actor and that he has the chance to work with beautiful actress, maybe he can have some second thought on the idea to spend his life with a man; and then there is this young actress, who is very similar in body to Reese, apart one not so little male attribute...
Darien is total in love with Chris, but both him than his lover are pretty busy worker. And so when Chris has to stay at home to work with a case involving his ex lover, Darien is not very happy: how can he go out of city leaving his lover at the hand of a man who obviously wants him back?
In this book Jet Mykles plays a little the role of the teaser: like the countdown for New Year's Eve, she gives us some candy during the book, but the real cake will arrive only to the end... and what cake you will have!
As I said, I think we have to wait to have more of the guys after this book, but as a faithful fan, I will stay in line and ready to read the next one... please Jet don't make us wait too much!
The band are together to play at NYE concert at a resort. However, Brent has injured his hand and is unable to play. It was nice having all the couples back again and the ending was just perfect.
Now, ended the Series for me -I'm not interested in Gretchen's story- I can say that these eight guys delighted me -being Slash Brent my favorite.
Particularly in Genesis is remarkable the author's skill to lead the four stories simultaneously almost errorless. The only mistake that I caught was when she speaks of Luc as the guitarist, when he plays the bass.
I enjoyed especially Chapter Sixteen. While I read it was resounding in my head Bolero by Ravel, in Bolero the in-crescendo gets for repetition of a same motive adding a new instrument each time, here has been possible not only for the narrated facts and actions, but through the progressive shortening of the scenes of every couple along the chapter.
All in all, the novels of this Series have turned out to be very satisfying, I cannot say the same thing about the short stories that for the most part barely have reached the bar in my opinion.
This is a sweet, hot wrap-up in which we could enjoy the HEA of the sexy rock stars and their partners one more time. I loved this series and I'm a little sad to say goodbye to these guys...
Heaven Sent has hit a new high point as a band. Seeing everyone trying to live out their Happy-Ever-Afters was wonderful. All their relationships are at different stages of development as well which made it more touching for me. Johnnie and Tyler have been married long enough to be at the stage where children are more than a passing thought while Brent and Hell are still trying to figure out if they're more than the music together. Luc and Reese are considering marriage as a permanent commitment; Darien and Chris are testing the boundaries of their new relationship against the reappearance of Chris' first love.
Every storyline was resolved with a nice way by the strike of midnight on New Year's Eve. I loved seeing the guys still wanting each other, still passionate, still in love. I loved seeing them all recognize how special their bond as a band was even when Brent was forced to wait on the sidelines of their New Year's performances. It meant a lot to me to see them committing to each other as a group as well as to their partners. I think it was great they decided to take a break together without it feeling as if it were an ending since it wasn't an ending: it was a series of new beginnings.
Obviously this has to be read at the end of the Heaven Sent series. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the previous books. It was a fantastic epilogue to an already phenomenal journey.
This story revisits all the couples we had met in all the books so far. It is around New Years and each couple has some issue to deal with. Brent breaks his hand and him and Hell are forced to think about what would happen if one of them couldn't play anymore. Tyler is thinking about children with Johnnie. Luc co-star has set her sites on jim. And Chris has to go out of town to deal with his ex who has hired him as his lawyer.
For the most part I liked these characters. Some of these stories just felt rushed, because they really could have been it's own book or at least it's own novella. Johnnie and Tyler thinking about having children- that would make a great full length story. The conflict between Hell & Brent while I get it, I don't think I full understand it's gravity because it was told in such a truncated way which is a shame because I really love Hell and these two for that matter. Reese and Luc are always hot and the conflict with his co-star was almost anticlimactic. Darien and Chris' story really had potential to be interesting and would have gone a long way to help me see these two as a couple (it also would have helped if we could not be in Darien's head, but Chris' instead because as I've said before Darien's head is annoying).
I think these story could have been expanded and separated. Or at least expanded. Also it would be really nice to see the POV of some of the other characters when we revisit the couple. What goes on inside of Luc's head? Or Hell? Johnnie? Chris?
This book was great, but there wasn't enough of it!!!
Genesis tells an additional story about each of the four couples we've met in the Heaven Sent series; sort of a continuation of their relationships. As such it was very satisfying. It was awesome seeing all the guys again, and seeing how their relationships are growing and maturing, (but of course, they still can't keep their hands off each other!)
And I'm ready to admit - Hell is really growing on me.:)
The only problem is that because it's about all four couples, you don't really get enough time to delve into any one couple's story. And a couple of those stories had some really great potential for conflict - particular Reese/Luc and Darien/Chris. Those would have been really interesting stories to explore a bit deeper.
But overall, Genesis was awesome. I sped through it and loved every second, and now I'm very blue because it's over. Revelations can't get here soon enough!
All the Heaven Sent boys are back together in this wonderful installment. They are all facing their own issues and dilemmas as New Year's Eve approaches, their relationships are tested and so is their bond as a band. I love how the stories of all the guys intertwined and how we got to spend time with each of them, alone and together. But my favorite part was the final chapter, when the stories blended, going from couple to couple. So hot! And I love how the ending of this series brings you to the beginning of and the start of the Indigo Knights series. I know I'll be adding them to my TBR because I definitely want to know more about Rabin!
I liked the way this book caught us up on the goings on of all the band mates and their lovers. While there were a few story lines in this book, I didn't feel that it got confusing or busy. I just enjoyed reading about where everyone was in their personal lives and their careers. This is not a standalone book, you definitely have to read the first 4 books before reading this one.
This was a great series to read and I enjoyed every minute of the books, with exception to Hell, which I couldn't connect with the characters. But I highly recommend this series if you're looking for a quick read.
Great ending to a great Series! I hope that one day there will be more but the author stated a while ago that she had wrapped up their happy endings and they deserved to keep them, so I'm not holding my breath for more of my band boys. Love Reese and Hell. My fav characters of the series by far. The whole series is like Godiva chocolate, you can have it all in one sitting if you decide to indulge.
It's a nice revisit with all the couples while they deal with an injury, its repercussions, and other issues of life in relationships. Glad to see them all again.
Looking back at the dynamic men who make up the band Heaven Sent and the equally striking men that love them, Genesis is a treat to follow the couples in their happy ever after. When they all gather to play a New Year’s Eve show, their relationships weather common problems plaguing them from jealousy, longing, fear and insecurity but thankfully each connection is strong enough to overcome anything in their path. This welcome look into the future of the men and band is a delightful cap on a wonderful series. For those who have followed the series, they will no doubt adore this wrap up and enjoy the glimpse into a possible future spin off book.
Although in the previous books, the various members of the band were the ones chasing their true love and convincing them that the relationship was real, true, and meant to be; here the author shows each partner coming into their own with confidence. Although Tyler stresses over whether children are in his future with Johnnie, he finally understands how much the lead singer loves him and that together anything is possible. As these two are my personal favorites, I was delighted to see more of their relationship and the continuing devotion that has not waned despite the years together.
Following as close personal favorites are Luc and Reese. Reese is wonderful with his confidence in his relationship with Luc and although he experiences twinges of jealousy regarding Luc’s starlet co-worker, Reese comes to realize what he has with Luc is incredibly special and unique. The scene at the end when Luc answers Reese’s question of “why? is a poignant moment to the intense and striking couple. Similarly, Hell and Brent are able to step beyond their fears and realize their relationship is more than shared interests and passions. Their commitment to each other is shown as much deeper and stronger than previously explored, setting these two up for a very long future together.
Finally, Chris and Darien are still struggling with Chris past but both have their eyes firmly on their future. Darien’s passion for Chris has grown, as has the comfort level of both men with each other and their friends. It was a lovely gift to see these two working past their problems and concerns. Not to mention the hot sex scenes the author wove seamlessly into the plot as well as between the different men and changes in point of view. The final scene was fun and enjoyable, showing the author’s trademark writing and humor with incredibly hot men.
This combination of stories follows similar themes and patterns of the previous books with tight writing and third person point of view as told from the bottom perspective of the relationship. These stubborn and handsome men show the easy going relationships they have within the band and the importance they place on their personal lives as well as their love of music. Even if none of these characters ever make a repeat performance, the author has left them all riding into the fictional sunset with their happy ending sure to satisfy even the most ardent fan.
I enjoyed this ‘summing up story as it broke from the pattern of the previous 4 books in the series, where the foundation of the boys relationships was the focus. This time there are 4 simultaneous stories to enjoy and varying emotions to savour. One event brings all the stories into play and on one level you get to see a more detailed preview of new developments in all relationships, while on the other hand you can see 4 separate issues that could potentially make or break them.
In Johnnie and Tyler’s story you get to see a wonderfully sweet side to Johnnie that you wouldn’t have suspected. In Brent and Hell’s story you see how Brent still has insecurity demons that he needs to battle with, which then leads to some of Hell’s fears coming under the microscope. I’ve always liked a bit of jealousy to steam up things in a relationship and the entry of Karin, Luc’s leading lady in a recent film, does just that. And Simon, Chris’s ex plays his part in this complex web of emotions.
And yet again, I think I like Luc and Reese more in this book than their own! Luc’s wry admission that he’s a bit of a fuck up was hilarious! And the conversation between my favourite couple in this series about having kids just about melted my heart I wish all my conversations with my partner were that open, honest and caring!
The heat in this book is lacking though, when compared to the others, mainly due to the intricate story lines interweaving, but the humour that Mykles brings to the dialogue is sublime, each conversation more intense than the last. The conversation between Johnnie and Tyler around page 100 had me laughing out loud and blushing at the same time! I thought each of these stories could have been explored in more detail, particularly the ‘Simon issue never really came to the fore. And I found it a little frustrating with the sex scenes at the end jumping to and fro, you’d just get into what one couple was doing, then bam, you’d be in another couples bedroom.
I would LOVE to see a story developed with these characters and Vic, the photographer, something a little more erotic than the Heaven Sent series, that storyline just has all kinds of possibilities!
A thoroughly fun and sneakily touching epilogue to a bang-up series. (Note: this is Book 5 of 6, but Book 6 does not focus on these couples.)
None of the four subplots are particularly compelling, but each involves an emotional issue which is heartfelt and simple enough to be resolved in a few chapters. I could have done without Luc's scheming, jealous female co-star, who was too over the top.
All of the couples are given spotlight time, and it is nice to recognize them so easily. Not only have the characterizations remained consistent, but the tone of each individual relationship as well. There were no actual flashbacks, but references to events years earlier were included, and it was enjoyable to see these glimpses.
The style was a little too perfectly romantic, but that fit with the feel of the entire series and did not come off as saccharine. The boys are left poised on the brink of their next adventures--a sweet, hopeful place to leave them--but the reader won't be along for those. Instead, the smooth segue to a spinoff series is deftly accomplished.
Easily re-readable, as are all previous installments. Recommended.
I liked having a book that dealt with all of the characters, but in terms of writing this was my least favorite in the series. The flashes between the activities of each of the main groups was not at all tantalizing, and the book was, I felt, too short to really handle all of the emotional drama and development built into it. I know Mykles does the emotionally compelling story quite well - I feel her characters have depth and are empathy-inspiring - but the focus on eight (occasionally more) characters was too much. In the previous books, she managed to spend a little time on other band members' drama while focusing on two or three main characters. I think that worked a lot better. This probably would be a three-star had it not come along after I had grown to love the characters as much as I do.
This was a nice reunion of all of the characters from the previous books in the Heaven Sent series. Besides having a chance to revisit all of the couples, I enjoyed the storyline and the varying POV's throughout the book.
It was especially interesting in the last chapter when they were all having sex in their own rooms on NY Eve, but the author kept switching from one couple to another. I found that I didn't really forget any of the guys from the previous books, even though I read them all months ago. To me, that means the author is doing a good job bringing them alive. So happy I read this!
I think in the past I haven't read this directly after the first four. I remember being delighted at getting to catch up with all of the boys and to get scenes with all of them in one book.
This time, perhaps because I'd just finished the first four, I didn't have quite as much fun. I remembered this so fondly and was left wanting more. Still fun, just not as much as I'd remembered.
Favorite Quote: "Do you realize how much I love you?" "I think I just proved that, didn't I?"
oh my God this is the second time i am reading this series. And i swear i want to read it again..Right from the start this book made me turn the pages with open mouth.First biik was of Johnny and tyler. Then comes Reese and Luc,Brent and Hell and last Darien and Chris. But still i would say genesis is one of my favorite in whole series.Because in this book i was able to see my fav characters life at a same time. And it was good to everyone once again. will highly recommend this book to everyone..
I loved the 3 of the 4 earlier books in the Heaven Sent series; the other one I enjoyed. What a waste of money and time. I really felt ripped off by this book. Like the author cynically threw together some vignettes of all the couples from the previous books without any substance or even any decent sex scenes to give any value to the purchase of the book. it jumped from couple to couple so fast at it gave me whiplash. Don't do it.
This was great. I was very happy to see all the characters together one last time before saying good-bye. I loved seeing characters that I havent read about in awhile, such as Luc and Reese, and being reminded why they are all great too. And now I can move on to . Perfect timing now that I have met Rabin.
It was wonderful visiting with each of the Heaven Sent couples in this book. It was reaffirming to see everyday life struggles and doubts can plague even celebrity types and I cherished feeling the unique connections and personalities as each couple was highlighted. I’m sorry to see them go, but also looking forward to Gretchen’s story!
Loved this 5th book in the Heaven Sent series especially since we got to see different situations involving all the pairings. Brent and Hell are my fave couple and I loved their storyline best. The New Year's party was fabulous and the simultaneous "sexings" after totally well-written. Love this series.
I loved the short story for each of the guys and the different subject matter... from a possible career ending injury to jealousy over ex-lovers to marriage to becoming parents. Such a spectrum. And having each of the stories culminating at the same time... loved it. Had me smiling :)
Recommended, but you really need to have read the previous stories to get the real enjoyment from these.
