This is the 4th book in the series and my favorite one so far, which means the author just continues to improve upon her storytelling in the adventures of Eddie and his female human, Minnie. Minnie is a librarian in Minnesota and she and Eddie live on a houseboat in the summer/weather permitting months and move into her aunt's boarding house during the inclement weather. Minnie also drives the librarians bookmobile to folks out in the countryside who cannot make it into town for library visits. Eddie always accompanies her on these trips and is the most popular attraction among the folks who visit the bookmobile. Minnie and Eddie always find themselves caught up in some murder or another. Sometimes Eddie helps her solve them by a sage look or running off with Minnie chasing him to find a clue. In this story, Eddie, himself, is actually kidnapped and even though I knew it would be okay in the end (otherwise that would be the end of the series), I was furious and as indignant as Minnie that someone should take Eddie and treat him with disrespect. What a fun series and I am getting the next one from my library the next time I visit!

by is now the 4th installment in the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series, and I seriously cannot stop reading these books. I have been listening to them all in a row these past few days because I can't bring myself to leave this world and be away from Minne or Eddie for even a second. There are some great one-liners in store for you in this book, but really this is just one of the things I love about this entire series. It is definitely a light read and there is 0 spice, but there is a dash of romance for our leading lady peppered throughout these 4 books so far, and I have high hopes that Minne will find love in this series!

The mystery was engaging, and I laughed out loud about as much as can be expected when you have loveable characters with great senses of humor. The audiobook was again narrated by Erin Bennett who did a wonderful job, and I fully believe she has perfected both Minnie and Eddie. Pouncing on Murder was a delight to read, and it doesn't get any better than the bookmobile and the small town of Chilson, Michigan. This book can be read completely as a standalone if you so desire, and Cass provides plenty of details from previous books for the reader to be all caught up be it from forgetfulness or not reading them at all. If you enjoy cozy mysteries and are looking for some good clean fun, I recommend this book and series as a whole!

This is the fourth book in the bookmobile cat series. When an accident claims the life of Minnie's favorite syrup provider, Henry. On one of her bookmobile stops, Minnie meets Adam, who was friends with Henry and was with him when he died. When someone tries to run down Adam, it becomes clear that Henry's death wasn't an accident. Minnie sets out to find out who is responsible.

I love Minnie and Eddie so much. I was glad that Minnie broke up with her boyfriend as he was starting to get on my nerves. I also liked the evolution of Deputy Ash. I can't wait to read the next book.

These are just too addictive! After the surprising, feeling induced events ofÌýBorrowed Crime, I couldn’t help but dive in toÌýPouncing on Murder!
Which was definitely a surprising read! Initially, I was wondering when the mystery aspect would start to blend in to the story, I mean, we’re presented with the crime relatively early on, as expected, but as I was reading it, I felt like we weren’t given any hints as to theÌýwho and why.ÌýBut then I realised that this book focused more on Minnie herself, rather than the mystery, or at any rate, I felt this way!
And I loved every minute! Across these four mystery books that I’ve read with Minnie and her pal Eddie, I have grown so attached to them both! From feline to human, their interactions are honestly so precious and endearing, and I love how much of Eddie was written as usual, I felt like I could hear his purrs leap off the page! I just love the dynamic between the librarian and her bookmobile companion! Especially towards the end, when the penultimate mystery is reaching it’s climax, I was so worried! Like, both Eddie and Minnie landed themselves in a sticky situation, but goodness I was thinkingÌý‘okay but I know there’s two more books to read but ahh how will they get out of this!â€.
Two more! I really feel like I would happily read infinite books on Minnie and Eddie, like, give me all the bookmobile cat mysteries! Not only has Laurie Cass created a wonderful and relatable main character with one of the most precious felines in existence, but there’s a great collection of supporting characters : I particularly loved the interactions between Holly and Josh, Minnie’s closest work mates, and Julia, the bookmobile volunteer, had some interaction with Eddie that just cracked me up!
After Stephen’s (Minnie’s boss), proposition to Minnie (about his recommending her becoming the new Library manager), I’m definitely curious to see where this will lead Minnie over the course of the next two books, like, I feel like if she gets selected, she’d do great, but surely that new job will take her away from her passion of the bookmobile?
I’m definitely curious to find out, and I know Eddie will be there every step of the way to reassure her!ÌýMrrÌýand all!

Check out my other reviews, discussions and link ups at .

I received this book for free from Obsidian in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Unlike a lot of cozy mysteries where investigating the murder takes center stage, and the characters life temporarily seems to take a back seat, it was the other way around in this book. Minnie fits in her investigations between running the library's bookmobile, getting ready for their first-ever book fair, and hanging out with her friends.

She spends a lot of time talking to her cat, and interpreting his responses or lack thereof. Which for me, was believable since I talk to my own cat all the time. That said, it seemed like Minnie spent more time talking to her cat than she did humans. Eddie was a typical cat, with no super powers, and he behaved exactly how I expected a cat to in most situations.

She seems to pick up new friends quickly, and some of them are immediate ties to the mystery she's investigating. At times the book seemed to drag just a little bit, and Minnie would end up on wild goose chases.

There was also a thread of romance, in that her current relationship was very obviously not working. And there was a tiny subplot almost about who she would start dating instead. It was fairly clear who would win out however.

I didn't guess who the killer was, and I also had no idea about the motive. It's always fun to be a bit surprised at the end when the big reveal happens. I think the killer was slightly too focused on trying to kill the new victim at the end, but that also helped keep me invested to the very last page.

Pouncing On Murder I enjoy this series, it's really cute.Ìý While a good read, it seemed a little loose.Ìý I don't know if it's my not-in-the-mood-to-read mood I'm in or if the plot needed to be tightened up a bit but this was a hard book to stay with.Ìý I knew I'd finish it in the end, but I just couldn't muster up much enthusiasm about it.Ìý
Ìý
The best thing about this book?Ìý The MC has a TSTL moment at the end and actually admits it's a TSTL moment.Ìý Beautiful. And I'm not being facetious, I thought that was truly awesome.Ìý How many times have I (fruitlessly) said,Ìý "JFC YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO LIVE!" because you know they can't hear you.Ìý Well, I lost count, but this time, it was like being answered back.Ìý YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO LIVE!"ÌýÌý "OMFG, I KNOW, RIGHT?"Ìý
Ìý
Ìý
Overall, I liked it, despite my ennui.Ìý Please don't let my lack of enthusiasm stop you from reading this book because it's actually really good.

I'm so in love with this series !!! Minnie and Eddie make a dynamic sleuthing duo and this fourth book in the Bookmobile Cat Mystery is just as much fun as the first three. And -- oh happy days -- the threat of a love triangle seems to have been dealt with. (the end of book three had me a bit worried -- I'm not a fan of love triangles though they seem to be very popular in cozy mysteries. I don't mind as much if they are sorted out within the first few books but I'm afraid I give up on series that keep reader's of a romantical inclination on edge for too long.)

One of the best part of this series is the cat/human banter that Minne and Eddie have going on. Cracks me up every time. And narrator Erin Barrett delivers Eddie's lines with such verve! Great secondary characters -- both old and new -- keep the plot hopping and provide intriguing elements to the mystery. I am addicted to this series!

Enjoyed the books 1,2,3. Struggled to read this one. Not because it isn't as good as the earlier books but because it's the same as the other books. I finally decided forcing myself to pick up this book and finish it was stupid. I have others I want to read waiting. I returned it to the library and cancelled my holds on the remaining books in the series. She an entertaining writer and I like her characters and love Eddie but too much of the same.
After writing this comment I went back and read some reviews for the next book thinking by book 5 others might agree with me (they didn't). But I realize my problem. And it is my problem. I have recently discovered this author and have been reading her books one after another, only days apart. Apparently not a good idea. My review stands as written but I have added stars. And I may go back and continue the series after a break.

I've enjoyed this series since the first book. Reading about Minnie and her bookmobile always puts a smile on my face. Eddie is quite the character and I enjoy reading about his adventures.
This particular book was interesting, there was a lot going on and the struggles Minnie was dealing with in her love life were very real.

When a bookmobile patron dies, Minnie can't help but wonder if it was an accidental death or murder. When Minnie meets Adam, a friend of the victim, she begins to believe that the death was no accident. Her investigation leads her to the killer and it looks like Minnie is in over her head.

Spring is arriving in Michigan, and it's time for Minnie to move back to her houseboat and out of her aunt's boardinghouse. A tree falls atop an elderly man, but Minnie feels something is not quite right. After talking to the man with him at the time of the accident, she feels certain it was murder. She presents her theory to the police. On the relationship front, things are not going so well with Tucker, her doctor boyfriend who never has time to visit her. Everyone in Chilson wants her to hook up with Ash Wolverson, a police officer. I love Eddie, the bookmobile cat, and how he always saves the day! This installment was slow for me in getting started, but once it picked up around the half-way point, I enjoyed it.

This series keeps getting better and better. I must say I think I might be more invested in Minnie’s love life than in who my actually committed the murder (although the final showdown was quite exciting). This is another book with a big bombshell from Stephen right at the end so it will be interesting to see what happens next with that. #teamash

Continuing to enjoy this series, the minor characters are getting more defined as the series progresses and a large part of the book is still focused on the library or bookmobile.

"Pouncing on Murder (Bookmobile Cat Mystery #4)" by Laurie Cass is a spring in the upper Mid West roller coaster of weather cozy mystery. The events of this one take place over April and May in Michigan. So any Midwestern knows that means the weather can be cold enough for a blizzard or hotter than the average midsummer day, sometimes in the same day. Knowing this, Minnie still moves out of her aunt's boardinghouse and back into her house boat mid April. She's also trying to set up an outdoor book fair. Good luck there.

The mystery was around who could want a grumpy (yet nice) old man dead and his buddy that happened to have a heart attack when he found the man. It really looked like it was focusing in one direction. I was honestly a bit confused at the reveal since I was thinking it was mixing up the two people at first. In the end I got them all straightened out in my head.

Also, I'm so glad the relationship drama with Tucker is all ironed out. That was getting a bit long for that plot point.

This is my favorite so far of the Bookmobile Cat series. The heroine has catastrophes instead of her usual challenges. The peril at the end is especially terrifying.

The Bookmobile Cat mysteries are my second favorite cozy mystery series. (Favorite is the Joe Grey series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy.). What makes a great cozy mystery? A brave, smart, and kind heroine. Wonderful friends. Interesting and strange acquaintances. A knack for characterization. Evocative writing. A twisty plot. And a cat.

The Bookmobile Cat mysteries have all of these. The heroine, Minnie, is always optimistic. When something happens to make her sad or grouchy, she takes action to feel better. If she can’t think of a solution to her troubles, she takes a walk, confides in friends, or finds something to make her laugh. People like her. Eddie, her cat, is perfectly cat-like, with no supernatural powers (I admit I do like cats that talk or do magic.). He provides most of the comic relief. Minnie’s conversations with Eddie (in which Eddie always replies “Mrr) are great. Most people like Minnie but everyone loves Eddie.

Give this series a try.

I am starting to love these more and more. Chilson and its residents are a pleasure to spend time with, and I just love Eddy so much. He reminds me of my ridiculous Cat, though I suspect Eddy has more of a nose for murder than my Thomas.

A cozy mystery. Love Eddie. The cat has more sense that her human. Most of the chapters are important in the story, but Stephen is useless. Minnie as usual suffers from TSTL. However it is still worth reading. Now onto the next in this series.

Another excellent book in the series. Very glad I found this series. Love Eddie the cat and he totally reminds me of my cats as I read. Stubborn, loving and chatty :) I like how he interacts with other characters and who doesn't love a bookmobile?

Another feline--I mean fine entry in this cozy kitty mystery series. Finally get some momentum in the romance storyline (I was never a fan of who Minnie was dating in the first 3 books, so I'm glad to see how this is developing!), and as always, Eddie the cat is the real hero, haha!

Review:

Pouncing on Murder is the fourth entry in the fun, animal-centric Bookmobile Cat Mystery series, and it is sure to please animal and library loving readers.

As small town Chilson, Michigan, begins to thaw for the spring, Minnie, the assistant library director, is busy with her regular library duties, planning the first ever book fair, driving the bookmobile route, moving from her aunt’s boarding house to her houseboat for the season, and trying to maintain her long distance relationship with her boyfriend Tucker. She is upset to learn that one of her bookmobile patrons, Henry, has died in what appears to be a tragic accident. When she delivers books to Adam, who is recuperating from emergency heart surgery and was present when Henry died, he shares his concerns that Henry’s death may not have been an accident and even that Adam was the intended target. Soon after, Minnie and Adam have a near hit-and-run, and Minnie begins to take Adam’s concerns seriously. What could newcomer Adam and cranky old-timer Henry have in common to incite a killer? Could the local land developer no longer take no for an answer when Henry did not want to sell his land? Is Henry’s neighbor leading Minnie down the wrong investigative path? Could someone from Adam’s past returned for revenge? Could the perpetrator be someone not even be on Minnie’s radar?

Minnie seems like someone I would be friends with and is genuine and likable. She talks to Eddie, the cat, just like I talk to my dog. The supporting characters are realistic and engaging. We should all be so fortunate to have friends and family devoted to us as are the residents of Chilson. Ms. Cass paints the lake and surrounding area in picturesque strokes, and a vacation on the water sounds divine.

I do feel that the actual murder mystery took a backseat to the other things going on in Minnie’s life, and its resolution is a bit predictable, but it is entertaining nonetheless. Minnie’s investigating seems true to life, fitting it in as she has time, and she does not come across as unbecomingly nosy.

Overall, I enjoyed Pouncing on Murder and look forward to more adventures with Minnie and Eddie. With its convincing setting, situations, and characters, it provides hours of pleasant diversion. I recommend it to fans of the series and those who like a heavy dose of Eddie the cat with plenty of books.

This is the best that I’ve read in this series (reading in order). It was more exciting, and I loved the closeness of Eddie and Minnie’s relationship. (For those of you who don’t know, Eddie is a cat, LOL!) I also liked the happenings in Minnie’s social life.

I love this series, Minnie and Eddie. Eddie (the infamous Bookmobile Cat) includes some of the more fun characteristics of my cats, including his Mrrr.

Minnie combines the best characteristics of small-town, Midwest people - kind, hard-working, adaptable, resourceful, respectful. She loves her aunt, Eddie, her job as Bookmobile librarian, and living in her houseboat from spring through fall. She will also go to any length to help those she cares about as well as seek justice for those murdered or having other damage or injury in their lives.

The plot includes many twists and turns. This is a humorous, yet complex, cozy mystery in which Minnie seeks to learn whether her friend and seller of maple syrup died of natural causes or was murdered - and if murdered, by who. She met interesting people while asking questions, and worked hard to find a famous author for a book signing when the one scheduled had an emergency. This novel includes the most suspenseful, even terrifying, moments when Minnie learned who the read bad guy or bad gal was that almost kept me from sleeping the night I read it!

I highly recommend 'Pouncing on Murder' as well as other books in this Bookmobile Cat Mystery, especially to those who love anything about libraries and books, most especially to those who love the cats who chose them. My favorite line from the book: "...I was very, very glad Eddie had chosen to spend his life with me." (pg 190) Thank you, Laurie, for such a wonderful series!!

I was disappointed in this one. I expected the cat to "do" more. Not that cats really "do" much of anything, but Eddie just goes "Mrrr" and gets cat-napped. He doesn't really do anything in the bookmobile. His owner keeps him - safely - in his carrier when they are moving, but when let out, the author seems to forget he's there.

The narrator seems to never tire of telling us that she is height-disadvantaged. The ending was also very lame for me. The "villain" had stereotyped lines and didn't ring true with the character that had been developed earlier. The reason for the murder was an interesting one and some of the red herrings should have been pursued further.

However, if you like the animal/human detective type book, you may like this one better than I did.

Continuing to read this series centered around an assistant librarian who drives the bookmobile for a library set in Northern Lower Michigan. Two things that stand out about the series: Eddie, the bookmobile cat, and the books that Minnie (the librarian) recommends.
