This book showed brilliantly through it's main character how a man from a dwindling minority loved his city and it's people despite everything around him suggested he didn't belong. It is even more influential now as intolerance and minorities escaping their homes of 100s years have become the norm.
I hate to rate books especially those I liked or touched Me in a way ,the language of this book is so beautiful"ed some of the sentences that I really liked, it is the tell of someone who lived&died worshiping His land, the thing that most lack today We are at a point where people like doctor Naji are rare & the majority like qadouri. I also loved the explanations of the pure Iraqi words was so nice for those non-iraqis & even the historical incidents are true events that I heard some from My grandMom. Finally if You want to read about love, death, longing, loyalty&trust then this is a good read for You.
