Abigail “Newt Newton is a twenty-eight-year-old scientist with her own research laboratory who moves methodically through life. After developing artificial hemoglobin in her lab, she decides to take a much-needed vacation to her family’s secluded cabin in Washington. But a discovery on the beach turns her world upside down. When she stumbles upon a simple Japanese fishing float along the shore, she quickly discovers that imprisoned inside the pale-green glass globe are a tiny man and his unconscious baby. Terrified at first, she devises a way to communicate with him, and becomes concerned with his plight. Vowing to help him in any way she can, she assembles a misfit team of helpers who include computer geeks, wounded warriors, and even a drag queen. As romance blossoms between Abigail and the man, they soon discover the real secret behind his captivity. But to save the man and his daughter, Abigail and her team must travel to a heavily fortified tropical island to battle an evil mastermind and his minions before the man and his daughter are both killed. Filled with mystery, intrigue, and romance, The Globe is a thrill-packed adventure that proves true love can conquer all—even killer technology!
I actually thought I would not like this book. It was an interesting read. It keep me wanting to read more and see where this story is going and how it would end. thanks! :)
"The Globe by M. Kat Lindley has to be one of the most original and well-written novels I’ve read in a long time! I was completely drawn in from the get-go, and absolutely loved Ms. Lindley’s use of description of the different scenery and locales, and her attention to scientific-tech detail and the all-around character development, but especially with Newt and Jasper. The prose and narrative were some of the best I’ve encountered lately literary and atmospheric and powerful like the message the whole book imparts, and I really feel like I learned something. It was an emotional and compelling journey from beginning to end, and Newt makes for an outstanding lead and we root for her through all her adventures. Like that she is intelligent and strong!! Really liked how the storyline comes full circle in the end. Very cool! A must read for fans of women’s fiction/sci-fi/action/drama and romance, etc.
