Rise Above: How to Heal the Hurts and Overcome the Worst

Rate this book
Has life overwhelmed you? Do you have hope to cope?

In an instant, everything changed for Robert. A nighttime flash-flood along the Kansas Turnpike over Labor Day weekend in 2003 engulfed his family in their minivan, claiming the lives of his wife, both sons, and both daughters. As the sole-survivor, Robert faced the grim deaths of his family members, and the stark reality of life without them.

“We will get through this. We will rise above this. And by God’s grace, good will somehow come from this. (Robert Rogers Emporia, Kansas Press Conference, September 1, 2003)

Through scriptures and heart-gripping stories from before, during, and after the flash-flood, Robert takes you on a journey to Rise Above your own adversity, and overcome whatever situation you encounter. You will be encouraged and uplifted to rise higher than you ever thought possible. “With God, all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)

"When God writes a story not of your own making, you know that the wisdom that arises from that story is profound. Robert’s latest book represents the latest gleanings from a life that has experienced trial, persistence, redemption, and joy. For all who have walked through the wilderness, I highly recommend learning from Robert."
William High, Chief Executive Officer of National Christian Foundation (NCF) - Heartland, and author of "The Generosity Bet: Secrets of Risk, Reward, and Real Joy"

“Robert Rogers has suffered unthinkable tragedy in his young life, and has found the presence and love of God in the midst of it all. This little book, his simple, though not easy, 'recipe' for surviving whatever suffering life may bring, is an indispensable help for those who seek God when sorrow and pain seem too much to bear.
Bishop Michael Sheridan, Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs

“We all face adversity, pain, and trials. God calls us—and gives us the strength—to Rise Above everything that comes our way. My friend, Robert Rogers, shares practical and inspirational encouragement that will touch to your heart.
Dan Busby, President, ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability)

“My good friend, Robert Rogers, shares Biblical steps that he applies to every trial in order to experience God’s restoration. Robert’s insightful use of Scriptures and his transparent practical illustrations make this book a must-read for anyone seeking joy amidst suffering.
Mitch Kruse, author and host of The Restoration Road with Mitch Kruse

“Few people can match the expertise of Robert Rogers on how to effectively navigate through tragic loss. Having experienced the horrific deaths of his wife and four children, Robert teaches us how he, through the Grace of God, has risen above that despair, and how we can do the same in our lives no matter what circumstances we face.
William Croyle, author of I Choose to be Happy: A School Shooting Survivor's Triumph over Tragedy

I felt that this book, even more so than Robert's previous book "7 Steps to No Regrets," offered specific steps on how to recover from grief. His overall message always is to encourage people to live intentionally and with no regrets. But for those who have suffered, whether through a lack of intentional living, or because of factors outside their control, this book offers detailed support and instructions on how to live again. Robert writes candidly and shares many details of his personal experience with tragedy, victory, and living with no regrets.

I firmly believe that everyone should read these books (my second of three written by Robert Rogers). A dear friend who also attended our Lenten Parish retreat which Robert lead commented that his words could bring a room full of atheists to follow Him. He so eloquently details how his life transformed after some of the most heart-wrenching tragedies anyone can face. While our own struggles can seem insurmountable in the moment, Robert tells us how to Rise Above them.
