Daddy Lion is having a polite and genteel tea party for his cubs. They want to invite all their friends but Daddy says no; he doesn’t want the pot-bellied pigs hogging the cream buns or Skunk pooh, pong, stinking the place out!
Daddy Lion just wants to have a quiet tea party with his cubs. The cubs want to invite their friends, but Daddy Lion wants it to be a quiet affair. When the Elephant overhears it and ostrich mishears and relays the message to all of the animals saying that they've all been invited, the tea party goes to the extreme. From monkeys to a skunk and every creature in between...the tea party is sure to be a wild one!
The climax of the story is laugh-out-loud hilarity and Sarah Warburton's illustrations bring it to vibrant life with color and humor!
Daddy Lion just wants to have a quiet tea party with his cubs, but they would prefer to invite ALL the animals. Daddy doesn't want the chimps monkeying around or the pot-bellied pigs hogging the cream cakes, and certainly not the sloth who shows up when everything is finally over and cleaned up! They decide to have a small party, but the elephant overhears they're plans and tells the ostrich, who can't hear well because his head is buried in the sand. This mistake leads to some hilarity and a great twist at the end. A fun group read aloud!
Although there were some parts that stood out positively to me - such as it being a Daddy lion and cubs rather than a Mommy - I felt the lack of inclusion from the Daddy a bit of a let down. It didn't seem like he learns abut how to be more accepting of differences or inclusive by the end. It is a fun, silly book otherwise.
Daddy Lion just wants a quiet tea party, but the cubs have other ideas. Silly antics ensue when a telephone-esque misunderstanding leads to all the animals attending the tea party under the watchful eye of zoo guests. Warburton's illustrations are vibrant and detailed - a perfect companion to Sperring's silly text!
