Libby

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?

Killian

As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse—and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him.
Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs.

HOLY WOW!! This was the ultimate rock star star romance!! It was absolutely perfect and had everything I could possibly wish for and more. Every word was loaded with swoon, hotness, and the most intensely passionate romance you can imagine. My heart was racing non-stop and I couldn't stop smiling from the moment I started reading until I reached the very last page. This story had depth, heart, emotion, angst, passion, and was beyond addictive! I highly recommend this as a truly fantastic top favorite of 2016!!! This is a book you don't want to miss!

Until Liberty. She's grouchy, a recluse --and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who've screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I'm not willing to leave her. I've got to find a way [to] keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.

This really was one of the most well-rounded and genuinely solid rock star romances I've ever read. To be honest I think it might actually even be my favorite of one all. And there are so many reasons why I feel this way. It had smart characters who shared intense chemistry which led to a passionate romance, an engaging storyline that didn't revolve around sex but was still sexy and scorching hot, fantastic banter that kept me smiling and laughing balanced with enough angst to keep my heart racing, the drama was derived from things that made sense -- not stupid decisions -- which meant that I actually respected both the hero and heroine every step of the way, and of course really great writing holding everything together. I was genuinely impressed with this book. If I could have custom ordered a rock star romance to exactly be tailored to what I'd want to read, this would be it! It was FANTASTIC!!!

His hand finds mine in the darkness between us.
In a low voice only for me, he speaks one last time. “Baby doll, I could assert my manly dominance, thump my chest, and declare you’re mine. But it wouldn’t mean a damn thing if I’m not yours in return."

The story has several arcs or sections within in. There's actually a lot that goes on and I really appreciated the scope of the story -- it gave it a great sense of depth and allowed the reader to go through quite a lot with these characters.

It starts out of course when Killian crashes his bike on Libby's lawn in countryside. Needless to say she's less than pleased by his entrance and when he proceeds to strip naked and then hurls on her five minutes later, her patience is close to giving out. But she's not heartless and helps him clean up and gives him a place to stay for the night. She has no idea who he is -- all she knows is that he's disturbed her peace, smells way too drunk, and now he won't leave her alone -- which, secretly she's actually quite pleased about. And so they spend several weeks together, gradually getting to know each other, dancing around their growing attraction, and bonding over their shared love of music.
“You know what? Fuck it. Here’s the truth: I wasn’t happy until I met you.
I literally rock back on my heels, nearly blown away by his candor.
His hands fist as he takes a step closer. “I’ve been here for nearly two months. I never stay in one place that long. And why do you think I’m still here? The scenery? No. It’s you that I don’t want to leave.

Naturally though when she learns that her lawn bum is none other than the world famous, multimillionaire rock star Killian James, it's shocking. But what really turns her world upside down is when he asks her to come with him when he has to leave on tour -- not just to be with him, but also to perform. He knows her talent is extraordinary and he wants to give her a chance to turn her passion into something more. And so this is their story of unexpected love, passionate romance, all set in the sexy, dazzling world of rock stars!
“You can have the world. Just reach for it.
“I don’t need the world, she whispers in my ear.
“What do you need? I’ll give her anything. Everything.
Ԩdz.

Even though, once they left the country, they were faced with the scrutiny of the world through the media, I loved that they didn't let anything come between them. Naturally, they had to figure things out as they went so it wasn't always a smooth path for them, but it was always clear that both of them just kept gravitating back towards each other. Whether they were hidden in the countryside or in the media spotlight or even on stage in front of the world, the one thing that never truly wavered was THEM.
He turns in to me, running the tip of his nose against mine... “I shouldn’t have held back the first time I wanted to kiss you.
“When was that?
He smiles, small and smug. “When you threatened to shoot me.
“I hated you then.
A low hum vibrates in his throat. “You found me irresistible. You would have caved.
“I would have bitten you.
“Bite me now.
That husky whisper has me moving, seeking his lips. I nip his lush bottom one, tugging at it gently, and he groans, drawing me in, slipping his slick tongue along mine. “Tell me you want this too, baby doll.
"Want what? I can’t think, my head is heavy, my limbs fumbling.
His dark eyes meet mine. “Everything.

I also really loved that they didn't just fall right into bed with each other from the start. Their relationship and connection grew as they spent more time together and by the time they actually got to the point of sleeping together and becoming a real couple, I believed in them. The connection between them had been firmly established giving a solid basis for their romance that went beyond lust. The sex was absolutely smoking hot but what made this book so good was that there was real LOVE in the foundation of their relationship. But seriously... I'll say it again: THE SEX WAS HOT!!!!! For those of you who love steamy romance, this one delivers in spades! But even still, because their connection was so strong, THAT KISS at 75% completely took my breath away. It was literally just a kiss... but one that was powered by so much emotion, intensity, and pure raw love that it made my heart skip a beat.

The music in this book was also very beautifully written. It takes a lot of skill as an author to make the reader genuinely FEEL a song that they can't hear but I was completely entranced by the scenes where they sang together. Really beautiful descriptions!
His vocals are the stuff of legends strong, clean, and powerful with a rawness that hooks onto your soul and gives it a tug. He sings, and you feel he’s doing it just for you, taking your pain, frustration, joy, rage, sorrow, and love and giving it a voice.
...
Killian takes a step closer. “Play with me. See how good it can be.
“I don’t…
“I will never laugh at you, he promises fiercely. “Ever. I’m your safe place, Libby. You’ve got to know that.

Killian is PURE SWOON material in every possible heart-melting, panty-dropping way. He's the ultimate sexy rock star book boyfriend and what made him the most attractive of all was how completely devoted he was to Libby. She really did become his everything. And Libby was a heroine after my own heart. Fiesty as hell, strong-willed but understanding, sassy and down-to-earth. She was totally the kind of girl I'd be best friends with.

Overall, there is no cheating, no triangles, and no stupid drama. This book can be read as a standalone and is a complete story with a wonderful ending that brought happy tears to my eyes! It's also the first in a series of standalones and I already know I'll be reading the next book the moment it comes out -- we met the hero of that book in this one and I'm excited to read his story!

IDOL was the ultimate sexy, swoony, heart-felt and yet angsty rock star romance that kept my heart racing non-stop. I loved the story from cover to cover and this is easily going to be a top favorite of 2016! I highly recommend it!!

Rating: 5 STARS!! Contemporary romance (can standalone).

THIS is how it’s done!

1. You take one of the most overused plots in the contemporary romance genre and you turn it into a great story line.

2. You add a little bit of angst, a great deal of laugh-out-loud moments, awesome main characters, a bunch of hot as hell secondary characters, and you got yourself a winner!

3. You DON'T throw unexpected and stupid plot twists, overdramatic and whiny heroines, cocky and slutty heroes, other women/men drama, and other eye-roll worthy elements that are so popular among authors nowadays.

You know the author did a great job when you catch yourself smiling throughout the entire book and finishing it with your heart full.

And I gotta admit, Killian and Liberty’s first kiss...

Hot damn. Me likey.

All that tension and palpable chemistry...

Hell, I could even feel pheromones in the air and butterflies in my stomach.

Highly recommended!

"You tell me you dreamed of this life... Let me show you. Let me give you the world, baby doll"

➦T󾱲 rock star romance certainly had everything to make it enjoyable - the funny way in which the main characters meet, the incredibly sweet way they connect through music, the steamy sex scenes, and the fascinating descriptions of on stage performances.

Liberty, the heroine, is an extremely talented musician who is hiding away on a farm after losing both of her parents. Killian is a lead guitarist and singer in a world known rock band. He is on a year break from playing and composing due to a traumatic event.

Music helps these two connect and become friends. Will Killian help Libby come out of her shell? Will Libby inspire Killian to keep performing and making music?

❤I loved the beginning of the book and the way these two connected. The sexual tension and pull between these two was high, which made for very steamy sexy times. I also quite enjoyed the music aspect to the book, it was very well done and I couldn't help but feel excited about "being on stage." The ending was pretty satisfying.

✘I will admit this novel has generated ONE eye roll from me lol It wasn't really because of the drama, it just got a bit repetitive with the monologues from both mcs. It's like... I GET IT. Moving on... Sounded something like this: (this is just my own made-up jibber jabber)

K: "There's just one piece of cake left on the tray... I wonder if I should eat it or not."

L: "I should really let him have the last piece, what if he wants it? I don't want to be selfish!"

K: "I really really want that last piece of cake but I'm going to let her decide."

L: "If he really wanted to have this cake he would tell me, right? I need him to FIGHT for this god damn cake!"

❤Anyways... Recommended to anyone who loves rock star romances, novels with a bit of humor and whole lot of steam :)

➦On a side note, ladies... Read this quote please:
"We come together, Killian filling my mouth, me riding his thigh with shameless abandon."

Am I missing something? LOL! How DO you hump a thigh and suck a d*** at the same time? :x

The heroine being a closet-musician, whom the hero suddenly decides to throw on stage and on tour with his huge world famous band (that had just returned from a troubled year-long hiatus), just seemed a little...contrived to me.

I also felt that the story was kind of placid at times. It just seemed like nothing was really... happening ... and the propulsion forward felt without purpose at times.

Regardless, it was a decent read and I enjoyed it for the most part.

what a cute story! ive always romanticised the idea of being involved with a musician. theres something about being a persons muse and inspiring songs that just gets my heart going.

and what i enjoyed most about this particular story is the wildly famous and successful musician is actually a kind and decent person. usually they get characterised as massive jerks, so this was a refreshing change. it was nice to read about just two people who fell for each other and having to navigating being together in the public eye.

definitely one of the better books that i have read with this trope and it really has me interested in continuing the series.

Kristen Callihan has a new fan from now on. Yeah, actually ҵDZ was my first book by her. God knows why I waited so long to try one of her books, but I plan to rectify that sooner than later. ҵDZ surprised me in a very good way, not only with its characters, but also with its plot. I can’t say I’m a big fan of rockstar romance genre, but Kristin Callihan made me devour this first installment in her newest series from beginning until the end.

“There's no one else like her. There never will be.

Liberty ‘Libby Bell is a young woman who lives alone on an island, without any friends or going out very much. She’s an introvert, she works from home and she loves her reclusive life. Her life is turn upside down when she meets Killian James. Their first encounter is a little awkward to say the least, leaving Libby more than annoyed. She’s not very excited to find out that this Killian James will be her next door neighbor for the upcoming months. When she finds out who Killian really is she’s not as surprised as anyone would be, since she barely goes on social media.

“I don’t think there’s a person on Earth capable of resisting the man. Killian is a peacock in a world of sparrows. He catches the eye and holds it.

Killian James is the lead singer-guitarist in the biggest rock band in the world. He needs to escape the world after what happened with one of his band mates. He didn't expect to be so drawn to the one who helped him sober up, but he realizes he really is. Libby is different from any other woman he met before. She’s a breath of fresh air and the fact that she’s a talented writer and musician herself makes Killian connect with her immediately.

“Tell me you want this too, baby doll.
“Want what? I can’t think, my head is heavy, my limbs fumbling.
His dark eyes meet mine. “Everything.

description

As Killian and Libby start to spend more and more time together getting to know each other, they realize how similar they are and how good they are for each other. But what will happen when Killian will have to get back on stage? After all, he’s an IDOL

Like I mentioned above I was surprised in a very good way by this book. I loved Mrs. Callihan’s storytelling. I enjoyed this one very much and (almost) every aspect was done to perfection, but I have to say my favorite one was the sexual chemistry between the two main characters. Trust me when I say it was intense…combustible…done to perfection. LOVED it!

“It’s never been this way. And I know without doubt that Killian James isn’t just an addiction, or a summer fling. He’s becoming my everything. And that is both exhilarating and terrifying.

I loved Libby. She was my kind of heroine and I connected with her from the start. She was strong, yet vulnerable at times in an endearing way, introvert, but not shy, kind, thoughtful, considerate and so very sassy. Oh, yeah, I simply loved her sassiness and of course her sense of humor. As for our hero, Killian…God, I loved the man. She was endearing even when he was a mess…an endearing mess. He was sweet and sexy, patient and considerate but what I loved the most about him was the way he supported Libby at times and also his unconditional faith in her talent.

I loved their banter and honestly all their sweet or sexy interactions. Their dialogue was pure and simply entertaining. As for their sexy interactions, well, let's just say they were hot as hell...every single one of them and really well written.

“Love the way she kisses me like she’s starving for it. Love the way she strokes my skin with a strange mix of tenderness and possession.
() I have never felt as wanted as I do now. Being on stage is addictive, but it’s nothing compared to this.

description

The secondary characters were intriguing, fantastically porftrayed and I’m so looking forward to read their own stories.

All in all, 'Idol' was a great first installment in Kristen Callihan’s newest series. If you are looking for a rockstar romance story with well-developed plot, endearing characters and delightful banter, look no further.

“I need you to understand, Libby. You’re my reason, the answer to all questions.
“And you, my sweet lawn bum, are my home.

4.5 LAWN BUM & ELLY MAY STARS
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Music can be your friend when you have none, your lover when you're needy. Your rage, your sorrow, your joy, your pain. Your voice when you've lost your own. To be a part of that, to be the soundtrack of someone's life, is a beautiful thing.

It has been a while since I’ve read a Rock Star romance and all I can say is that I am left wanting to read more of this genre. I’ve read some that didn’t quite hit the mark and then others that just blew me away, and I would definitely place IDOL in the ”Blown Away category. I have been a big fan of Kristen Callihan since reading her very popular Game On series and just knew I was in for a treat with this one. I’m beginning to think that this woman can do no wrong!!! I’m HOOKED on this series and I need the next book like YESTERDAY!!

Liberty Bell is a young woman who lives the life of a recluse on a tiny island off the Outer Banks in North Carolina. She lost both of her parents in a car accident over a year ago and has spent every day since on the family farm she inherited. Liberty has a job that allows her to work from home and she has very little contact with the outside world and prefers it that way. Something life changing is about to crash into Libby’s life in the form of a six foot tall Rock God named Killian James.

Killian is the lead singer & guitarist of the biggest rock group in the industry, called Kill John. The group has been on a sabbatical for the past year after tragedy hits too close to home for them. In a drunken haze, while riding his motorcycle, Killian ends up crashing into Libby’s front yard fence and passes out on her lawn, covered in his own vomit. He definitely does not make a good first impression with Libby. She actually doesn’t even recognize him and gives him her little spitfire attitude for damaging her property and for riding his motorcycle while intoxicated. She does eventually take pity on him and nurses him back to health from his hangover. They soon find out, much to Libby’s dismay, that Killian is her new neighbor. He rented the vacant house next door in order to unwind and escape all the drama and paparazzi. The guys in the band are trying to write material and get back together but Killian has lost his love for the music. Libby will actually be the key to bringing the music back into Killian’s heart.

As they spend more time together Killian and Libby realize that their feelings for each other run deeper than they ever thought possible, and when Killian discovers Libby’s musical talent it sparks his passion for music again. They spend a short time living in their beautiful bubble away from the outside world but soon enough Killian will be forced to leave their secluded oasis and head back to the recording studio with his band. He wants Libby to come with him and perform on stage a few of the songs they wrote together, but her crippling fear of performing in front of an audience and her hermit tendencies force Killian to begrudgingly leave her behind. When the distance between them becomes impossible to bear, Killian does succeed in getting Libby to leave her cocoon and fly off to NYC to be with him again. He even gets her to overcome her fear of performing.

Will the limelight and friction with some of the members of the band create a rift between Killian and Libby? Or will their secrecy regarding their relationship and her rise to fame threaten to break the couple apart?

This was one seriously addictive and refreshing spin on the Rock Star romance genre. I loved that the Heroine was just as gifted a musician as the Hero was and that their love for each other was so selfless that they would sacrifice anything for the sake of each other’s music career. But there was a time or two when I wanted to slap the both of them for being so completely dense!!

This is just the first in the VIP series by Kristen Callihan and you would think that the next installment would be about another band member but it isn’t and I am so thrilled!! Next up we will be getting the band manager’s story in MANAGED!!! He is described as the most beautiful man, definitely better looking than anyone in the band and a doppelganger to the one and only man that owns my heart completely, DAVID GANDY!!!!!! ROLL ON BOOK TWO!!!!

Title: Idol
Series: VIP #1
Author: Kristen Callihan
Release date: June 7, 2016
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

Not only am I a huge fan of this author, but I'm also a little addicted to the rockstar romance genre. So there was no doubt in my mind that this was fate. A match made in red-hot, hard rock heaven in this gorgeously packaged story. Bribery was not off the table, and I might have been willing to sell a kidney to get my hands on this book.

I've loved Kristen Callihan's Game On Series. She helped breathe life back into New Adult sports romance, a genre that had gotten grossly stale and cliché. So to say that I was ecstatic about seeing what her rocker characters would be like was an understatement. Her trademark witty bantering and well developed supporting characters were in full attendance. I'm thrilled with this new set of characters and am firmly committed to continuing with the coming books.

Killian James AKA "Lawn bum" made quite a grand entrance into Liberty Bell's life. (Yes, that's actually her real name.) Why Lawn bum? He crash landed on her lawn looking like an inebriated homeless person and promptly vomited all over her as an added bonus. Nice. Let's just say he didn't endear himself very well to her at the starting gate. I immediately saw that Libby was not the shy type and wasn't afraid of pointing out the error of his ways. And she had one hell of a sense of humor, the way these two clicked and immediately started to exchange barbs with one another made me sink into the story with glee. I was immediately hooked.

"You need hard labor to forge you into a better person?"
"Yeah." He smiles. "Yeah, I think I do."
"And you want me to...what? Mr. Miyagi you?"
His laugh is a rolling wave, deep and warm. "Fuck yeah. Paint the fence. Sand the floor."
"And when you're done, we can go down to the sea, and you'll balance on one leg."

Libby and Killian spend a couple months as neighbors out in the country. He's still trying to come to terms with a traumatic experience in the past, and she's generally pulling a hermit act and avoiding society. She has wounds of her own and likes the peace and solitude of her farm. That is, until he comes along and shatters her safe and isolated world.

The best surprise for me was that the heroine was a gifted singer, songwriter, and guitar player. Her parents were in the music business, and she learned from the best. My absolute favorite scenes were seeing Killian discover the raw talent that she had and how she inspired him and brought back the joy in music that he thought he had lost. Their jam sessions, and his unconditional faith in her talent was such a pleasure to read. She matched him: in song, in spirit, and in their natural charisma that they both held that performing brought out of them.

He challenges her. To step out of mediocrity and reach for the stars with him on tour.

Tour life is sex, rock and roll, and clandestine, scorching hot encounters. Anyone who knows Kristen Callihan's writing knows that she writes sexual tension to perfection. And once again, she did not disappoint. Though I will say that I would have liked to have seen them go public with their relationship sooner. Libby was being fairly stubborn and tough headed in letting go of her fears. I was ready for them to dispense with the conflicts of their secrecy.

As she learns the ups and downs of the music industry, the joys of performing and the challenges of public perception, she has some tough choices to make. Where is her place in his world? Is she satisfied to be his biggest supporter, or is she destined for more?

The majority of the book was five star worthy and I was highlighting like mad which is a good sign that you've found yourself an great book. I was fascinated with the side characters and am thoroughly intrigued over where each of them will find their HEA. However, there was something that occurred during their brief separation that left too many questions in my mind unanswered.

Overall, Idol was a rush to read. I had that giddy feeling running through me. When you're desperately turning the pages and completely spellbound in a story. And after reading the tease of the band manager Scottie's book, I'm not only sold, but I'm desperate for more. This was an exciting start to the VIP series, and one you're not going to want to miss.

I forgot how much I love this series...

I absolutely loved revisiting the VIP series and now that I've started listening to the audiobooks, I'm definitely going on with my beloved Scottie's story. The narrators do a great job portraying Killian and Liberty and sounded exactly as I imagined.

Listening to Idol was an absolute pleasure, flowed well, and I never struggled to keep engaged.

Mr Gandy was mentioned and my like turned to love.

Well, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but really, how could I not love a book when a character is said to resemble Mr Gandy? As you may know, I have a wee crush on David Gandy. Hubby knows about it, shakes his head about it and mumbles and grumbles about it. He’s my “free crush. This little obsession is based purely on his looks. I know, I’m shallow, but the guy is just really good looking to me. Do I want to meet him? No. Do I fantasise about him? Ahhh…NO! I just like looking at him. Geez, I’m such a dag. I’ve just spent my intro talking about Mr Gandy, who’s mentioned in the book as looking like Scottie…WHO’S NOT EVEN THE MAIN CHARACTER.

Now, the real reason why I loved Idol

I started Idol after begging my friend Bex to pick a book for me. Idol had been sitting on my kindle for a couple of weeks but I just hadn’t found the time to read it. Bex, my dear friend, knew that this book would definitely be something that I’d like. She knows I’m a sucker for a good love story. I can't believe she didn't mention Mr Gandy, though (shaking head). To be honest, I was kind of expecting a *sex, drugs and rock n roll*, but Idol wasn’t really like that.

We meet Liberty, and she’s not a happy camper. Some bloke is passed out on her front lawn after crashing into her front yard. She knows she should call the cops, but decides to deal with him herself. What I absolutely loved about Libby’s character is her “take no-nonsense attitude. Her methods of dealing with him are humorous but effective. I can say that she was a lot more generous than I would have been. Letting a stranger into your house was probably not her brightest move, but we’ll escape reality for a minute and allow the fairytale to play out.

Killian has had a bit of a rough trot lately. His head is a mess and he’s feeling a little lost and unsettled. This does not excuse him for getting drunk and crashing his bike into his new neighbour’s fence. The rude awakening he gets lying on her front lawn is definitely justified. What Killian can’t believe is that the little spitfire doesn’t seem to know who he is. For him, this is exactly what he needed. He wants to escape the fame, the hangers-on and the women who latch on to take a piece of him. Killian wants to be normal for a little while and in Libs company, he has that chance. Killian does not give a great first impression when he meets Liberty, but he’s determined to crack her shell. There’s something about her that he’s attracted to. Her vulnerability mixed with determination is a beacon to him. Then one day she sings…and all Killian’s problems seem to disappear.

For a while, Liberty and Killian manage to stay on the down-low and get to know each other better. It’s definitely friendship to start with and getting to know each other means that a lot of secrets are shared. Killian’s obligations eventually need to be addressed and Mr Gandy walks in to bring him back to his world. OK, it’s not really Mr Gandy. Scottie (Mr Gandy lookalike) is Killian’s band's manager. He arrives with Killian’s cousin and PR consultant Brenna, and they walk in, pack him up and move him out. Killian and Liberty’s budding relationship seems like it’s going to be short-lived. He needs to get back to his band and she’s stuck in her little house afraid to take a risk on a rockstar. Is their attraction to each other worth them taking the risk?

Idol takes us on a journey seeing the highs and lows of the music industry. Both Killian and Liberty have some issues that they must overcome before they can see their happily ever after. Being in a relationship with someone who is loved by many is not easy for Liberty. The fact that she was trying to keep their relationship private doesn’t help.

Idol was really, really good. I loved that Killian’s appeal had nothing to do with his popularity and success and only a little to do with his looks. This guy knew what he wanted, told her what she meant to him and showed her that she was the only one for him. Sometimes, when you read a book with a hero that is famous, it takes me a wee while to believe that the heroine is more important than anything else. In this case, it was bloody obvious. His frustrations with his fame, devotion to her happiness and safety, and ability to block out the boobs in front of his face, jumped off the pages. Killian saw Liberty…and she was it. Liberty saw Killian…and couldn’t live without him by her side. To me, that’s the best kind of love story.

Loved Idol and I can’t wait for Mr Gandy’s story…I mean Scottie and Sophie’s story ;-)

I'm a twenty-seven-year-old, multimillionaire singer-guitarist in the biggest rock band in the world, and I have no earthly clue how to have a relationship with a woman. I could laugh. But I don't find it funny. Because I want Liberty Bell.

*pause for dirty thoughts about Killian*
...
...
And I'm back!
Seriously though, even the man's name is hot. Killian. *rarr*
But I digress...

Idol marks book one in Callihan's sexy new VIP series and if this book is anything to go by, this is the start of something addictingly good. This book had a little bit of everything that I love; hot rockstars, angst, tortured rockstars, angst, sexy times, sassy heroines, amazing secondary characters that I'm already itching for a book for, sexy times, fantastic writing, sexy times, humor, and lots and lots of sexy times. You getting the drift here?
I don't spend time with anyone. It's writing-composing, practicing, recording, touring, fucking, sleeping. Same old record spinning round and round.

Kristen is a masters of weaving some grade A sexual chemistry and boy do you get that here. When Liberty "Libby" finds a drunken bum passed out on her well manicured lawn, she's not exactly thrilled. When she finds out that the same 'bum' will also be her next door neighbor for the summer, she's not jumping for joy either. But a few snarky barbs soon turn into an unwilling friendship that soon begins to turn into something much more. But what happens when Liberty finds out that her new neighbor is also the lead singer of the world's hottest rock band?
Tell me you want this too, baby doll."
"Want what?"
"Everything."

The chemistry between these two is so hot, it practically sizzles. What a refreshing change of pace to get a rockstar that doesn't want to manwhore his way around town. Killian realizes what he wants early on and he's not shy about going about it. I loved the way he was with Libby. He's patient and sweet and yet there's always an edge to him to with his dirty talking ways
There's no one else like her. There never will be.

Libby is endearingly sassy. Girl can definitely hold her own and she's not shy about telling it like it is. I loved her spunk and backbone. Sure, she has her issues, but she never lets it own her.

The characters are perfectly developed, and their romance is a natural progression. I love when the author can make that sexual tension burn and Kristen makes it hurt so good here.

I also fell hard for all the secondary characters, especially the tortured Jax. I can't wait for his story along with the rest of the guys from Kill John. But I'm especially excited for the next book ESPECIALLY after the preview at the end. YUM.

Clearly I loved this book, so why not 5 stars? Well, while I loved the tension and build up of the first and last 30%, the in-between of it didn't have me as riveted. It was still a fun read, but I had no problems setting it down for a bit and picking it back up later. So while it wasn't quite the perfect five stars, it was a super solid 4 that I enjoyed thoroughly. If you're a fan of this author, this is an absolute must read. Trust me, you don't want to miss it!
Love breaks your heart, fucks you up- perfect, all-consuming chaos.

OOh!!!!! VIP Series by Kristen Callihan has just become another hot favourite rock star series of mine!!!
 photo hey-there-rock-star-glitter_zps6qcxahxm.gif
Idol is the 1st book in the series.....and I'm totally hooked on the story, the characters and especially KILLIAN JAMES, lead singer/guitarist of Kill John, the hottest rock band in the world!!!!
 photo anigif_enhanced-8751-1413238448-5_zpsxnvabxev.gif
NO, NO, NO......Kanye West...........you are so not the no one rock star in the world.........KILLIAN JAMES IS...........
 photo f812fccc8e10c657a139b7d337ae2950_zpsn6cqqu4a.jpg
Killian James must be one of the most genuine rock star characters ever.

The story's opening scene is an absolute laugh a minute!! This is when Killian first "meets" Liberty Bell, his next door neighbour - see, he's taking a break away from the hectic rock star world to find peace and quiet and write some new songs!!! His life is never going to be the same after his encounter with said neighbour!!

Liberty Bell.....love her name....aka Libby. What a fabulous character. I absolutely adored her. Talented, sassy, independent, caring...........and what blew me away....underneath she's this amazingly talented, singer, guitarist and songwriter!!! What is there not to love about her!!!
 photo download_zpsobn4mgum.jpg

The chemistry between the two is incredible...right from the very beginning. I loved their banter, their connection and how much the two did for each other. Making them see that there is more to each of them then they ever thought possible.

“A person can get…stuck, for lack a better word, in a life. It’s surprisingly easy, really. Hours bleed into days; days fade into months. Before you know it, years have passed, and you’re just this person, someone your younger self wouldn’t even recognize.

Not only were the two mc's endearing and engaging but wow...the secondary characters were just as amazing and dare I say, intriguing (check the band's manager, GABRIEL SCOTT...his book's next...OMG...I cannot wait!!!), fantastic (check JAX, the other member of the band!!!)...and what about...okay, enough....wait for the next book!!!Now, let me add why this book ROCKED for me!!!

You feel the love of music that the author has in every word she has written.
Music can be your friend when you have none, your lover when you’re needy. Your rage, your sorrow, your joy, your pain. Your voice when you’ve lost your own. To be a part of that, to be the soundtrack of someone’s life, is a beautiful thing.
The references to real life musicians...Bowie, Corbain, Prince....extraordinary and so amazing.....
“Nirvana had “Smells Like Teen Spirit. Kill John has “Apathy- our generations battle cry. “Apathy drives just as hard and fast as “Teen Spirit but there’s more pain in it, less rage. A question of why we’re here. A song of loneliness and feeling useless.
If you love a really like a story that leaves you feeling giddy, happy.....smiling...then this is a book for you.
I can't wait for the next book.......GABRIEL SCOTT, here I come!!!!

One of my favorite quotes:
“That’s the thing with endings in real life. You never really know when they’re going to happen.

Damn, I really wanted to like this :( But I should’ve listened to my gut feeling because both Liberty and Killian kinda rubbed me the wrong way right from the start...

This was as standard and predictable as you’d expect from the blurb, which can be entertaining if the romance works for you, which sadly, for me, it did not.

This had pretty much everything I’m usually into, it was fairly well written and hot, too, but I just couldn’t connect with Killian and Liberty. Their relationship progressed too quickly for me and since I didn’t feel their connection, I didn’t care much about them as a couple. I’m all about the slow burn and the sizzling chemistry and I just felt like I didn’t get much of that here. I would’ve needed more time with them in the beginning to really get invested in their relationship but they just arrived too quickly at the point of you-are-my-everything. They have a handful of scenes together before they start hooking up and I just need a little more foreplay than that. So really, that was the main reason why this failed for me. The rest of the book was ok but the eventual drama and big conflict...I just didn’t care all that much.

On a side note: I don’t know why guys in romance always (or more often than not) have to be hung like a horse. Killian even walks a specific way because his huge ding dong takes up so much space between his legs. Honestly, a regular sized dick and some skills would be perfectly sufficient. Sorry for being crude but I’m kinda over dicks so big they need their own zip code (Libby’s words, not mine) and which can tear a girl in two (ouch?). I just want chemistry and banter and sexiness!

“The world thought he was theirs. I knew he was mine."

“Idol is book one of the VIP series by Kristen Callihan and what an amazing book to start with. I am a real sucker for rock stars and this book certainly was no exception. I absolutely loved the references to real life rock stars, especially to Vedder, Cobain, Bowie and Prince. I believe Kristen Callihan is a real music enthusiast and it was quite evident in her writing. We all have that certain song that touches us or reminds us of a sad, lonely or happy time; it’s something you’ll always remember and this book really encompasses that.

“Music can be your friend when you have none, your lover when you’re needy. Your rage, your sorrow, your joy, your pain. Your voice when you’ve lost your own. To be a part of that, to be the soundtrack of someone’s life, is a beautiful thing.

I loved the writing of this book and all of the anticipation of the characters falling in love. It was awe-inspiring and utterly captivating from the first page. The initial meeting between Liberty (Libby) and Killian was hilarious. The constant ridicule and banter between the two main characters was compelling and it kept me glued to each and every page.

“When you smile? You kind of glow.

Liberty was the perfect leading lady. She was smart, captivating, independent, has a quick wit and a sassy personality. Libby has been self-sufficient since the death of her parents. She has inherited a country home where she executes her inner domestic goddess consisting of baking, gardening and music. She is a self-proclaimed hermit or home-body and loves the oasis in which she lives. The last thing she expects is a drunken rock star to drive onto her front lawn.

There is absolutely nothing not to love about Killian. He is a member of the hottest rock band of our generation, Kill John, but is taking a break in the country and it’s here, where he meets Libby. He is such a genuine character filled with engaging and admirable traits. He feels deeply and only wants the best for people and is truly supportive of everyone he cares for.

The connection between the two main characters is so poignant and captivated me from the moment they met. Although completely different, they were a lot more similar than you anticipated and it was thrilling to see the relationship unfold. As the story develops you get to watch Libby and Killian’s developing relationship evolve and it’s beautiful to be a part of.

“That’s the thing with endings in real life. You never really know when they’re going to happen.

This was such an enjoyable, entertaining and satisfying read. I will gush to anyone who will listen about this book. I loved it. It was a fun read with emotional and heartfelt undertones throughout. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves their rock star romances, filled with lovable and endearing characters and a strong storyline.

There’s beauty to found in a rock stars heart, if you can get to it. In order to write and perform with such passion, there has to be some pain there. And to find that pain and then to heal the wounds caused by the pain is a gift unto itself. is one of those books that lets you into a rock stars heart.

Killian is hurting, emotionally he is broken.

Libby is hurting, emotionally she is broken.

Can they heal themselves? Can they heal each other? There’s the million dollar question.

You see, Libby lost her parents a year ago and Killian almost lost his best friend to an attempted suicide one year ago. They are both hiding and trying to mend their broken hearts. They are both hiding from the world pretending life doesn’t exist, but you can only pretend for so long.

I loved Libby for everything was and everything she wasn’t. She was shy but feisty, pretty but not overly confident, kind and generous. She had that southern bell thing down. It was adorable.

I loved Killian for the same reason. He was confident but not overly cocky, humble, loving, giving and willing to give his heart away to the right person. And more than anything, I loved the way he saw Libby. He didn’t see her for everything she wasn’t, he saw her for everything she was and her imperfections as perfect.
“Beautiful, I croak past the lump in my throat. “You’re beautiful. I know with an eerie calm that I’ll never see anything or anyone more stunning in my life. Everything has changed. Everything.-Killian

Libby was a singer as well, but not for anyone other than herself. Fame wasn’t on her radar. She just liked to sing alone and in private. But Killian wasn’t a big fan of that, he wanted her to sing for him, with him.
Killian takes a step loser. “Play with me. See how good it can be.

“I don’t.

“I will never laugh at you. he promises fiercely. “Ever. I’m your safe place, Libby. You’ve got to know that.

**
Libby is not an idiot by any means. She knows she is living on borrowed time with Killian and even though it will hurt like hell she knows she will have to give him up at some point. But my book boyfriend and future baby daddy is not hearing all that. He’s like, “Um…baby doll, I ain’t going no where without you!

“You want to get rid of me, you’re going to have to try harder, baby doll. Killian

Random thought I’ve always loved being called, “baby girl, but Killian makes me want to tell my husband to call me “baby doll. The way he says it is just so sexy.

I always find it hard when people waste time not being together when that’s what they really want. You never know if this is the last time you see the person. I’m not trying to be cliche here, I’m just being honest. That’s real life. I’ve seen it, shit I’ve lived it. Maybe that’s why it bothers me so much. These two were meant to be but they were too afraid to admit it. The shit pisses me the hell off.

I wanted to scream, “Tell him, tell him you need him! Tell him you love him! Tell her, tell her you need her! Tell her you love her!

Tell her. Tell her what she is to you. She’s your lodestone. You have a fucking map inked on your body, but you are completely lost without her right next to you. Tell her. Killian

Why don’t we step outside of our comfort zones and follow our hearts? I wonder how much pain we can save ourselves if we weren’t so scared to tell someone how we really feel about them. Life without love is bullshit, we just have to remember that and set our pride to the side.

Is it over? Fuck I hoped not! Forget all that, if you love someone set them free shit! No, if love someone you stay and you fight for your love. I’m so sick of martyr shit. You don’t need to be martyr, you need to speak up, fight for want you really want.

Music can be your friend when you have none, your lover when you’re need. Your rage, your sorrow, your joy, your pain. Your voice when you’ve lost your own. To be a part of that, to be the soundtrack of someone’s life, is a beautiful thing.

All in all, this is a beautiful love story. Kristen Callihan takes you on a beautiful journey of two people trying to figure out exactly how they fit into this world. Together or apart.

Some people may not know this, but I'm not into rocker romances. I think the first one I read scarred me for life and I’ve avoided them ever since. But after reading Kristen Callihan’s Game On Series, I fell head over heels for her writing and knew I had to give this one a try.
I mean the woman created Drew freaking Baylor. And I am so glad I did! Kristen’s writing is filled with humor, angst, and romance and they were all present in Idol.

Libby is a hermit. She lives at home, works from home, and basically never leaves home unless she absolutely has to. One night, a drunken man crashes onto her lawn and leaves Libby no choice but to help him sober up. After realizing that man is Killian James, lead singer of a extremely popular band called Kill John, Libby and Killian form a bond over music. They spend time together in her small town before she sets out on tour with Kill John after Killian discovers Libby’s amazing voice.

description

Not surprisingly, Killian our hero was just perfection. When Libby finds him sprawled out on her lawn, it’s clear Killian isn’t himself and has been going through something. And even though Libby is pretty wary of him, his sweet charm just wins her over.

Killian’s expression goes soft, his gaze running over my face. His smile grows.
“What? I ask, thrown by the gleam in his eyes. It makes my breath catch.
“You’re pretty.
He says it so matter of fact I snort. “You sound surprised.
Killian leans in just a little, “Truth? I am. You’ve been scowling at me so much…Ah there it is again. Glaring hate-fire at me.
The calloused tip of his finger traces the top of my cheek, and my lower belly clenches in shock.
His voice grows thoughtful, “But when you smile? You kind of glow.

I loved loved his personality, their banter, and everything about them together.

“Tell me you want this too, baby doll.
“Want what? I can’t think, my head is heavy, my limbs fumbling.
His dark eyes meet mine. “Everything.

And GOD DAMN is Killian sexy.

“You’ve been teasing me all day with this thin excuse for a top, he murmurs, his voice dark and rough
Dark eyes roam. His breath gusts over my skin, his mouth so close to my aching nipple. “Barely covers those sweet little tits. You gonna show them to me now, Libby?
God his voice. It’s heated toffee, sticky and rich, coating my skin. It’s black magic, taking command of my body. I sway a bit, wanting to press myself against him, fighting for just a little longer because anticipation aches so sweet.
“You like me looking at you Libby?
I can only make a strangled sound.
“Yeah, I think you do. Lower your top, baby doll. Show me what I’ve been dreaming about for weeks.

This story was overall low on the drama and high on the sweet romance. The MCs and the rest of the cast were just amazing characters.

I think my only critique would be I would have liked a bit more time with them getting to know each other before the story switched gears and Libby and Killian go on tour together. The months they spend getting to know one another were kind of skirted over. I loved their relationship, but I really wish there was more of their story before they jumped into such a big commitment with one another.

Overall, I would MOST DEFINITELY recommend this for fans of Kristen’s and those who just want a great romance. We also get a glimpse into the next book in the series, and HOLY HELL AM I EXCITED FOR THAT. I just know Scottie is going to be one of those delicious alpha assholes with a heart of gold (my favorite kind.) That glimpse into his book was hysterical and it doesn’t hurt that he’s described as a David Gandy lookalike. ;)

"Killian James isn't just an addiction, or a summer fling. He's becoming my everything. And that is both exhilarating and terrifying."

3 Rock Stars!

(I buddyread this book with my beautiful friend Rachmi. Click her name to read her thoughts. :))

Because of its glowing reviews, I wasn't able to resist reading this book. They were right, it was a guilty-pleasure read. The moment I started reading it, I found myself really hooked because of the interesting characters who are both inclined to music. I also found the rock star thing irresistible.

Liberty "Libby" Bell's life changed when drunk and messy Rock God, six-foot tall idol Killian James bombarded her in her home in a small island of North Carolina. Despite her disgust for the stranger, Libby took care of him until he woke up sober. It was days after their series of interactions when she found out that Killian was the famous lead guitarist of the band Kill John and he happened to run away for a while to keep himself away from media and the public. It was also his way of coping after what happened to his band mate and best friend Jax. Libby and Killian soon became aware of their growing affection towards each other. They also found out that they have the same passion when it comes to music, and that Libby was after all, a woman of talent behind her laid-back lifestyle.

The book actually gave me butterflies in my stomach. Killian didn't fail to hook me with his amazing personality. So much sexiness exuded in him! I loved the way he changed Libby's perspectives toward life and how he was able to inspire her. Libby, on the other hand, had a great character development. She learned from her mistakes and quickly realized that it's not that good to miss once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

I loved the premise of the story and the tone of it as a whole. It's my first time to have a taste of 's book and I can say that her writing makes me feel things. However, I can't give this book more than a few stars because the second half of the book bored me. The plot kind of went downhill because of the unnecessary scenes. I think it's because the story already focused on the sex and no longer on the deep and emotional side. Also, I wished that the book just centered on Killian and Libby's story and there were no side stories about the other band members' dramas. Still it was a great and enjoyable book. It made me want to read more rock star themed romance stories! :)

This is one of these books I have had a hard time rating...

* The hero is totally swoon-worthy with no flaws at all.
* The heroine is just perfect, too... I loved her.
* And their love is amazing, with all these deep emotions and the wonderful chemistry between them.

So, what is my problem??? Why not more stars?

Well, here are my reasons:

1. Firstly, I guess that was the most "uneventful" love story I have ever read. Nothing much happens really. Lowest angst ever! There were times I really got bored waiting for something to happen.

2. Also, the self-sacrifice towards the end of the book was unnecessary and unoriginal. You know, the cliché

3. Also, my favorite series of this kind (music-related romance) is Stage Dive series, by Kylie Scoot, PLAY being my favorite.

And in PLAY, Mal and Anne's first making love scene is in a limousine. And in this book IDOL, also the first making love scene is in a limousine. Being a fanatic fan of PLAY, I resented the similarity because it totally felt like a duplication of that scene.

**

So, all the above points bothered me and ergo, my low grading...

If you do not mind what I listed above, it could be an enjoyable read for you because it is a sweet love story of two adorable characters.

4 Everything Has Changed Stars

Elly May is kind of plain. Until she opens her mouth. Then it’s one long stream of colorful bitch.

When city meets country, it’s a battle of wits between the Rockstar and the country bumpkin presently hosing down his drunken ass on a lawn he doesn’t recognise.

Lead singer Killian James is running far from the troubles that plague him. Twelve months on, and he’s still drifting and no closer to returning to his band Kill John, until her.

Liberty Bell is a borderline recluse. She isn’t aware that the 'lawn bum' who just won’t leave, is none other then rock god Killian James. When he forces his company on her, they quickly bond over their love of verbal sparring and a passion for music. Not to mention an attraction neither wants to acknowledge.

“You know, I’ve had girls on their knees before me plenty of times. But they usually do it with a smile.

She snorts. “I’d be more impressed if you were the one used to being on your knees. I like givers, not takers.

Seriously, these two were a riot. Their banter was contagious and the friendship effortless until reality visits. Killian and Liberty are both hiding away, and once he realises that Libby is equally as talented, Killian doesn’t want to leave her behind when he returns to New York.

“Beautiful. I turn my head. His gaze burns into me, those dark eyes glossy with heat. My stomach dips and swirls. He doesn’t look away. “Your voice is so fucking beautiful, Liberty Bell. Like sex on Sunday.

Killian and Liberty don't shy away from their feelings. It was refreshing reading about two mature adults trying to juggle two very different lifestyles because they wanted it to work. Everyone needs a push in the right direction at one point, as Killian and Libby come to realise. Idol wasn’t life changing, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

5++++ Baby Doll Stars

I ADORED THIS!!!

I knew this book was going to speak to my heart as soon as I opened the first pages. There was a call out to a couple of legends that have passed this year, I literally squealed and showed my husband ‘No Joke. I am part of a family in real life where music is the center of everything we do, from my Dad who plays in his own band also my bro doing the same to falling for my husband who thrives of music so you come into my home and 9/10 times I have my ipod on with the classics and likewise the new So yeh once I got past the first chapter and saw where this was leading it grabbed hold of my heart and I rolled with it

So what’s it about?
This is about the Lead singer and guitar player of a world known band and IDOL to all women and men alike Killian is the property of everyone except I suppose himself.. Something happens to his best friend and band mate so he takes some time out, a break and holiday I suppose. He has a night of drinking and ends up on his ass literally on Libby's front lawn.. And that’s where they meet and become friends Libby IS NOT happy and is somewhat of a recluse at the beginning.. So having a drunken Killian on her lawn is not what she wants to deal with.. But hey you know what they say, things happen for a reason and friendships and bonds happen in the most unlikely scenarios and this is definitely the case with Killian and Libby

The first half of the book is a story about two people who enjoy each other, you know baking, playing music and learning to live and breathe. Then the book progresses into more

Libby is also a musician, she has been brought up into a world of music from her parents that back in the day were also musicians but a more subdued one, she’s not in the limelight like Killian but he wants her to try.

What I loved was how fluent and deliciously musical it was, I FELT I rolled, I fell for them and how they fell for each other. How they played, how their fingers made music and as I was reading I could feel their chemistry, see how they strived to be THEMSELVES and how they just LOVED MUSIC

It was honestly a great balance of sensual sex, beautiful characters that hands down I LOVED with my WHOLE HEART from beginning to end.

I mean let’s talk about Killian a minute, he is a Star in his world, a charming multimillionaire star yet he just wanted normal, and Libby got that and gave him that He was sparkling, sexy, delicious and I don’t know how you just can’t love him cause honestly he called to me as I was reading, he was it for me.. He LOVED FIERCE, CARED HARD and IDOLIZED the ever loving hell out of Libby. Also his band is included in that in that love that surrounds them.

”I want you so fucking much. Feels like I’ve always wanted to you. He pulls me close, kisses my mouth. “It’s taking all I have not to plow into you, fuck the ever-loving hell out of you.

But will Libby acknowledge what is offered to her? Will she want to be in this world??

Read it and find out

To sum up, if you love Music, love sensual sex, love a book that’s full of romance and gripping characters as this read is a character driven read, then definably pick this up as hands down a great start to this series.. And a HUGEEE page turner

Super excited for Scotties book next ;)

Have you ever dreamed of having the high of your life?

You know what I mean.

Winning an Oscar for example and hold it carefully in front of a few millions TV spectators while you are thanking your mother crying your eyes out.
Or finishing the Olympics marathon at first place, leaving everyone behind you, raising your eyes up and thanking lord while everyone is cheering.
Or being the victor of a Grammy and knowing there is limo with the best champagne waiting for you and your company when you leave the event.
Or being awarded a Nobel prize and knowing that you name will be mentioned at the classrooms forever and ever as one of the scientists that have helped the human race.
Or getting a Pullinger prize and knowing that your work has helped a small country to survive and your revelations have exposed to the public all the murderers that created refuges.

Liberty Bell has the high of her life, when she sings with “Kill John in front of thirty-seven thousand people.

“Kill John is the band where Killian, the love of her life, is the lead singer and it is the most famous band of the word currently. Think Nirvana, Bon Jovi, Beatles, Prince, Red hot chili peppers.something like that. It depends on your age and your music preferences actually to understand that we are talking about THE BAND. The hottest musicians out there.

This book is the story of Liberty Bell, how she has fallen in love with a legend and how she has made her dream come true
Although her parents advised her not to work in the music industry and never fall in love with a musician. (Note for parents: There is no point giving advice to your children. Just pray and have hope)

The next door girl and the rock star. A wonderful story!

This was a super cute read where Killian, rock star, has been on hiatus after some personal tragedy, and goes off to live in a remote coastal location. He meets Libby, farm girl, and they hit it off. I loved the chemistry and sass between these two. The relationship that develops, and eventual stresses when he has to return to touring were well played out, and I liked the way the author handled the pacing. Will definitely check out more by her!

Music can be your friend when you have none, your lover when you're needy. Your rage, your sorrow, your joy, your pain. Your voice when you've lost your own. To be a part of that, to be the soundtrack of someone's life, is a beautiful thing.

Now that we have a tentative release date for Rye and Brenna's story, I wanted to re-read this whole series, because it's been a while.

Speaking of Rye and Brenna.. maybe there was I reason why I forgot that they don't have a book yet. While I really like their banter they have in this series, I hate how Rye keeps flirting and making out with other women right infront of Brenna and I'm like hmmm.. dude you better grovel or do something to make up for all of that pain. Or at least I hope Brenna is sleeping with other men and that is not another case of H being a manho while the h stays celibate.

Libby (h) and Killian (H) were cute together. As individuals they were okay, nothing I can write poems about, but as a couple yup cuties. Kill had some very swoony moments and it was all these little scenes when Libby and Kill playing guitar and singing together that did it for me.
"You know what? Fuck it. Here's the truth: I wasn't happy–until I met you."

the romance is pretty much the only thing going in this book, because the plot? non-existent. Did anything else happened besides the band going on tour and play? I don't think so. You know I actually don't care about the plot of a book that much if I'm 100% invested in the couple, but I wasn't, therefore the book at times felt extremely dragging and boring, because I was just waiting for something to happen. Spoiler alert: Nothing happened. Maybe that's why I'm not a huge fan of rockstar romances because all they do is sing, drink and fuck lol.

the conflict was such an eye-roll moment. Libby and Killian both want what is best for the other and choose to let her/him go, but not making that clear enough. I felt like that drama was just very unnecessary.

Scott, even tho you were such an asshole in this book, I still love you to death, cause I know my darling Sophie is going to bring you to your knees in the next book. mwah.

This was like a trip down memory lane with all the musical references that held such special, stand out moments in my youth. Instant connection for me: to the story, the characters, the music. And all of that without the fact that I’m a huge Kristen Callihan fan and go gaga for rock romances!

Killian James, lead singer and guitarist for Kill John, the biggest rock band in the world, literally crashes into Liberty (Libby) Bell’s world. From the first few words, I was hooked. Snickering and loving the snarls and banter between Killian and Libby. These two are loads of fun when they get going.

Libby and Killian develop a friendship as he hides out on the remote island in the outer banks of the Carolinas, where she calls home. And while Libby, at first, unknowingly helps Killian deal with some rather heavy stuff, he also pulls her out of her proverbial shell and dares her to reach for her dream.

The friendship and then the love between these two was sweet, tender and moving. In the world of sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll, where Killian truly is a rock god and idol, what these two have is rare and worth fighting for.

“She’s it for me. It’s a done deal. I’ve been hers since the second she hosed me down and woke me up. “My life doesn’t work anymore without her in it.

“I’m half in love with a man who will drift through my life like smoke in the wind.

Of course, the music world, while magnetic, addictive and beautiful, can also tear you apart. Both Killian and Libby grapple with finding their space and footing together and do stumble along the way.

As anticipated, Kristen delivers a Grammy award-worthy story. She hits all the notes and rocks the house with her lovable, real characters - both main and secondary, clever dialogue and stirring and tender feels. This was music porn and one sweet romance! Totally rocked!!

You just know that a book is gonna be good when it starts out with the guy being passed out drunk on the girl's lawn and she's having to hose him down because he smells so bad! I think I was hooked from the get-go.

Killian is the lead singer of a rock band called Kill John and it's been a year since tragedy struck. All the band members are at loose ends. Killian's decided to get away from things but first he does that whole stinky-passed-out-drunk thing.

Liberty doesn't know what to make of Killian. Of course, she doesn't know who he is...she's been dealing with her own tragedy. But they slowly get to know each other and it certainly helps that they are neighbors.

Before long, she finds out who he is and she's a bit star struck but gets over it quickly. And when Killian finds out that Liberty plays guitar and sings, their bond is forged even deeper.

description

However, Killian's "vacation" is over too soon. He tries to get her to come with him and even to sing with the band but that freaked her out and she just can't. They quickly realize how miserable they are apart and Killian does something really sweet to get her to come on tour.

Soon enough, her worse fears are coming to fruition and they both have good intentions...trying to do what's best for the other person. It was sooo hard to not want to bash them both over the head!

But fear not, they can't stay apart for long and things wrap up really nicely...unfortunately for me. I loved the drama but I needed the angst to go on a bit longer! ;)

I loved the rest of the band members and hope they are all getting a book as well, especially you-know-who with Brenna, Killian's cousin. But next up is the mysterious hottie band manager, Gabriel Scott or Scottie as we've come to know and love him. I can't wait to read about the woman who's gonna melt his icy exterior! Managed is the name of his book but unfortunately, there's no release date yet.

A little teaser:

*Killian James, lead singer and guitarist of Kill John, the biggest rock band in the world, and Liberty Bell, a recluse who was perfectly content until a drunk yet undeniably hot guy crashes his bike on her lawn.*

Liberty

I’ve been alone too long. I don’t know how to act around people anymore. Especially not this guy. Yesterday he was disgusting. Drunk and too far gone to function. I should have left him on my porch, called the police, and cleaned myself up while they dragged his ass away.

But I couldn’t. Not all drunks are bad. Some are just lost. I have no idea what this guy’s issue is. I only know that, when faced with the decision, I hadn’t the heart to leave him.

So I’d dragged him to my bathroom and washed him clean. There was nothing sexual about the act. He stank something awful and was so butt-drunk, it was all I could do not to wring his thick neck for being so reckless.

Not to mention I was pissed to have to give my bed up to the idiot. No way was I going to be able to haul him upstairs to the guest rooms.

But now, in the light of day, I am at sea when it comes to my drunken bum. His presence in my house is immense. As if a mere room could never contain him.

Presence. My mom used to say there were those who just had it. I never understood what she meant until today. Because, even though he is fumbling his words and clearly hung-over, this guy vibrates with vitality. It permeates the air like a perfume, soaking into my skin and making me want to rub myself all over him just to get a little bit more of that feeling, as if, by being near him, I too might be something special.

It makes no sense. But then life rarely makes sense to me.

And now that he isn’t piss-ass drunk and filthy, I can see the beauty of him. His body is long and lean, that sort of rawboned strength of sinewy muscles and sharp movements. His hair is still a tangled mess, falling down to his shoulders and the color of rich, dark coffee. A thick, unkempt beard covered most of his face, which is…annoying. Because it hides too much.

But what I can see points to an attractive man. His nose is bold, a bump along the high bridge as if he’d once busted it, but the shape fits his face. Prominent cheekbones and what looks to be a stubborn chin under all that fuzz give him an air of pure masculinity.

His eyes, however, are downright pretty. Framed under the dark slashes of his brows, they shine like obsidian but are softened by those lush lashes.

How could a person not be swayed? Those eyes had tracked my every move around the kitchen earlier. Unnerving me.

I’d shoved food at him just to make him look away. He hadn’t, though. Even as he inhaled my biscuits like a man starved, he’d watched me. Not in a sexual way, more like I was a mess that he’d inadvertently walked into. The irony makes me want to laugh.

Now, I just want to get away from him. Talking about my parents reminds me why I should hate this guy—this drunk driving stranger who’d taken not only the life of his but everyone he’d shared road with into his unsteady hands.

Not looking back, I get my keys. He’s not far behind though, his boots clomping just as loudly as mine, echoing in the front hall. He’s got a fresh biscuit in hand and is chewing on the remnants of another. I refuse to find that endearing.

A scowl brings those strong brows of his together and his dark eyes narrow on me. “You really don’t want to know my name?

I grab my sunglasses. “Why is this bothering you? It isn’t as thought we’ll ever see each other again.

His frown grows. “Seems like common courtesy.

“After that shower, I think we’re past basic etiquette.

Oddly, this makes him smile, and when he does, oh boy... It’s like the sun breaking through storm clouds, all brightness and open joy. I’m fairly blinded by it and have to blink and look away.

“See, that’s my point. He gestures towards me with his biscuit before taking a huge, grunting bite.

“You’ve seen me naked—

“Don’t talk with your mouth full. It’s disgusting.

He keeps chewing. “You’ve washed my cock—

“Hey. I didn’t get anywhere near your dangly bits, buddy.

That grin of his wraps around his food. “In my mind you did. And you washed my hair. You can’t wash a man’s hair and not know his name. That’s just bad juju.

“Juju? I try not to laugh as I head for the door. “You’re still drunk.

“Clear as a crystal, Libby. He’s right behind me, dogging my steps. “Now ask my name.

I stop short and turn, and my nose meets the center of his chest. The contact ripples through me like a vibrating wave. I step back and tilt my head.

He gives me a slightly smug, completely antagonistic look. But his voice drops, sweet and cajoling. “Come on, ask.

God, that voice. I’ve been trying to ignore it because it’s the kind of voice that can pull you under, make you lose your train of thought. Low and deep and powerful. He talks and it’s a melody.
He’s staring at me now, waiting, his dark gaze expectant. It sets off a slow thud, thud, thud in my chest. I haven’t stood this close to anyone in a good long while.

Swallowing, I find my voice. “All right then, tell me.

But he doesn’t speak. He freezes as if he’s caught and suddenly wary.

“You’re kidding me, right? I laugh, not really amused at all. “You bug the hell out of me to ask and now pull a Rumpelstiltskin?

He blinks as if shaking himself out of a trance and then glares. “Don’t worry, your first born is safe from me. He sucks in a breath and thrusts out his hand. “Killian.

I eye that hand of his. Big, broad, the fingertips and the top edge of his palm calloused. A musician of some sort. Probably a guitarist. I run a my thumb over my own rough fingertips. He’s waiting again, his brows knitting as if I’ve insulted him by not taking his hand.

So I do. It’s warm and strong. He gives my hand a squeeze strong enough to bend my bones. Though I don’t think he knows how hard his grip really is. Definitely a musician.

“Please to meet you, Liberty Bell. His smile is nice, boyish almost beneath his thick beard. Earlier, I’d thought he was in his thirties. But now I’m guessing he’s more my age, mid-to-late twenties.

I let his hand go. “I wouldn’t call our meeting a pleasure exactly.

“Oh, now, you have to admit I have great aim. He gives me a nudge as I roll my eyes.

“Let’s never speak of that again.

“Speak of what? His tone is light as he follows me outside.

I head towards my truck but he stops me with a touch to my elbow. He’s focused on Mrs. Cromley’s house across the way. Mrs. Cromley died six months ago and her nephew took over the place. Haven’t seen him yet but I know he’s a forty-something with wife and kids. I doubt he’ll move in; the house sits at the edge of nowhere.

Then again, Al’s grocery van is idling out front and two big boxes are on the porch. Killian looks around, taking in the rolling grass, turning toasted brown as fall sets in. And then beyond to the crest of the hill and the small sliver of blue where the Atlantic ocean crashes to the shore.

Killian scratches his jaw as if his beard itches. “That house over there. That George Cromley’s place, do you know?

A sinking sensation pulls at my gut. “Yeah, I say slowly.

Killian nods and then catches my gaze. His smile is just as slow and smug as usual. “Then I guess I won’t need a ride into town after all. Neighbor.

Killian lost it all when his band took a hiatus that he wasn't sure he would ever return from. His path of destruction led him to being passed out drunk on Libby's front lawn. He didn't realize that she would be his salvation, but once he heard her singing he knew he never wanted to leave her. But Libby is used to her sheltered life and isn't positive being with a world famous musician is something she can do.

Why I waited so long to read this book, I will never know. But I'm really glad that I finally got around to reading it and I really liked getting to read it. It wasn't your typical rockstar romance and Kristen Callihan managed to put a unique spin on telling this story making it all the more enjoyable. I liked that she managed to take a subgenre that has been done so many times and can very easily end up being nothing more than cliche, and was able to put her own personal stamp on it.

Libby is what really sold this book for me. I loved that we got to see her start off as this sheltered, sweet woman who wasn't used to leaving her comfort zone and ended with her being a lot more confident and open to new possibilities. She took a chance on Killian and let him help her follow her dreams that she had kept hidden for so many years and I adored her for being able to do that.

Bottom line, if you're into a hot rocker and a sweet heroine with a hidden tough side than this book is for you. I can already tell that this whole series is going to be one big bag of awesome so I can't wait to see what happens with the other band members.

I can't believe it took me this long to join the VIP train! I've heard a lot of good things about this book, but for some reason I only picked this up today. Best decision ever!

The Animal screams. For me.

The tortured rock star and the reclusive country girl. Liberty Bell and Killian James could not be from more different worlds than anyone else, but they still end up meeting when Killian, who was in a rare liquor-induced haze, crashes his motorcycle on Lillian's lawn. It wasn't the best first meeting, but they still form a friendship they both equally need. Turns out, they have a common denominator–music and escaping from reality.

Their similarity leads them to form a deeper relationship, one that transcends their casual companionship. Before things could go further, reality comes calling, and Killian has no choice to go back to his life as a rock star; the guitarist of Kill John.

These two are absolutely adorable! I loved the first meeting and the days that followed. Killian was like a lost puppy and Liberty the good samaritan who decides to take him in. Their budding friendship was so cute and funny, and when they finally gave in to their feelings, I screamed! FINALLY! Most of all, I loved how dorky these two could be when they're together. Absolutely adorable.

You need hard labor to forge you into a better person?"
"Yeah." He smiles. "Yeah, I think I do."
"And you want me to...what? Mr. Miyagi you?"
..."F* yeah! Paint the fence. Sand the floor."
"And when you're done, we can go down to the sea, and you'll balance on one leg."

Liberty is my kind of heroine. She's an independent, no-nonsense girl who won't tolerate anyone's s*t. She's funny, sweet, and considerate.

Killian is a book-boyfriend I want to keep in my pocket forever. Where can I find my own Killian? He's funny, dorky, extremely talented, and hot as f*.

While I generally loved the banter between the two, I agree with Maria @ (click her name for her review!) about the MCs' repetitive monologues when the conflict finally came. I wanted to sit them down and force them to just talk it out.

And as much as I loved the first half of the book, I wasn't that much of a fan of the second. I loved the musical aspects in the whole book, but the second part felt a bit boring compared to the first half when it was just Killian and Libby.

Still, this book was gripping from start to finish, especially the start. All of the characters wormed their way into my heart, and it made me love music more than before. (It also made me want to fall in love with a rock star!) It had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments, a fair share of steamy, hot scenes, and a few heart-wrenching events.

So, if you're a fan of rock star romances with humor, sex, and a whole lot of feels, you might enjoy this book!

I have a feeling I'll love Managed (VIP #2) even more. I love brooding, standoffish men (Mr. Darcy, anyone?) like Scottie! PLUS, he's British!!!

I put this book " on hold" for a while and even now I don't know the reason for doing so.. I just had other books that were on my priority list and considering I already have a favorite rocker, I was kind of reticent to read this.
But I was wrong... You maybe know at that rocker I am referring to, but Killian is nothing like him, fact that I enjoyed, because I love diversity in characters.

So, Idol is the first installment of the VIP series and our main characters are Killian and Liberty. They met under some strange circumstances but in the end, that meeting will be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Killian is the guitarist and vocals in a big rock band named Kill John. Jax, his band mate wanted to kill himself and that thing took a toll on our hero. The band is torn apart by this event and one night Killian got so drunk, he ended up on Liberty's porch. Of course he said stupid things, but for an unknown reason, Libby took him in and helped him sober up. Once himself, Killian realised that she is his neighbor and wanted to make amends. What started as a very angry and tumultuous relationship, developed into something else, full of lust and unspoken feelings.

Killian was my type of hero. At the beginning he was very fragile because of the incident that changed his life, but after meeting Libby he realised that faith,in a way, brought him in that position so he could meet her. He was very protective of her, wanting to be there when she needed and make her dreams come true. There will be many occasions in which Killian will be stubborn as hell, but he will also put his feelings aside in order to let Libby be free and do the things she loves.

Libby is a very guarded heroine. Her parents died in a car accident and ever sincer, she lived a solitary life, without friends or close ones. She doesn't really know how to act around Killian, despite being so aware of their connection. But she is afraid to admit what he does to her. Their friendship means so much to her but in the same time, she knows that they are words apart. She had a dream that was rejected by her parents: singing and performing. She is a natural talent, but because of her parents that were part of the music industry, didn't get to experiment what it feels like to be worshiped by your fans. Killian know this feeling well and the second he heard Libby sing, he was absolutely convinced that her place is on stage.

In this way, an adventure begins for our heroes, in which they will struggle to cope with fame, the press, the fans and even with their band mates. They will love each other, make mistakes, but eventually all roads will lead to the fact that they were meant to be.

One star goes for the cover. I loved it and even now can't stop smiling when seeing it.. This is my first Kristen Callihan book and I have to admit that I judged the plot a little. I thought that it will be about the classical tale of a rock star that fells in love with a girl and that he will go soft and realise music is not his nr.1 priority after all, but the love for his girl. Partially I was right, but there will be so much more. So much drama and self discovery and you will want to read along to see how our characters will evolve and find each other again. I repeat, it is so much more and more complexity than meets the eye. They will find fame together, but the challenges will be numerous. You just have to stand by them so see exactly how everything will turn out.

It was a pleasant surprise for me and I will definitely check out the second book, because I have a good feeling that Scottie will make a delicious hero.

4 stars!

This book was amazing!!! It brought me back to why I love to read. There is nothing that I didn't love about it. Kristen Callihan did a wonderful job of making the characters come alive to me from the beginning of the book. I find that a book like that is becoming harder to find; but in "Idol" the story sucked me right in from the get go!!!

Liberty Bell; aka, Libby...finds a "bum" on her front lawn one day, considering she is quite a feisty heroine...she didn't run screaming. Instead she got out the hose and sprayed the crap right out of him!!! ( I would say pun intended, but it wasn't crap; but vomit if we are getting technical!!!)
Unfortunately, Killian wakes up from his drunken stupor to find this "Ellie May" character, aka country bumpkin staring down at him and spraying him with freezing cold water!!!
This is how the two meet, and immediately their entertaining banter begins! I loved every single scene with these two. There are far too many to mention. They are hilarious, and their chemistry is not only sexual, but an amazing friendship develops with them too. The best part is how Libby doesn't even realize she has the most popular rock star right on her door step. Killian decides he likes that too, finally he finds someone who recognizes him for him as a person, and not as an "Idol."

This is how the story goes, and believe me there isn't a part that drags. It is full of laughs, friendship, and of course our favorite!!!! SEX!!!! I am not a person to push books on anyone. I feel we all have different tastes, and I hate being responsible if a reader doesn't like it!!! Too much pressure for me!!! LOL HOWEVER, this time I will do some gushing..and say....YOU MUST GIVE THIS BOOK A TRY!!! It is beyond awesome, and I haven't been as highly entertained and amused with a read in a long time!!! I will be honest, I don't usually go with Rock Star books...They are not my favorite; but I am so glad that my Buddy brought this book to my attention!!! (Thank you Steph!!! This was another brilliant buddy read with you!!!) Please give this story a try...
I have adored some of Kristen Callihan's other books, but this one by far has jumped up to be my favorite, and I can't wait for more in the series...Even the band members have my attention..Each character brings a unique personality to the table, and they are impossible not to love!!! This book is a top read of 2016 for me!!
