I lifted my gaze to tell Seth no but then I saw it. The thing I'd feared I'd lost. It wasn't hero worship or the wayward emotions of an innocent child. And it wasn't some distorted reflection of a man who no longer existed. All I saw was me...the way he saw me. --Ronan Trauma surgeon Ronan Grisham lost everything the day the man he loved was stolen from him in a brutal attack. Driven by a thirst for vengeance, he turns his hatred into building an underground group that can do what he couldn't that fateful day...take the lives of the guilty to save the lives of the innocent. But years later, he's forced to confront the one link to his past that he can't sever. Seven years after the loss of his parents in a violent home invasion that left him permanently scarred both inside and out, 21-year-old Seth Nichols is trying to put his life back together so he can take over the reins of his father's global shipping empire. But the last person he expects to come back into his life is the man he drove away with one innocent, stolen kiss. With one brush of his lips, Seth managed to do to Ronan what no other had since the day Ronan watched the light in his fiancé's eyes go out forever. He made him need again. But Ronan can't need anyone, least of all his dead fiancé's younger brother. Because even one touch from Seth could shatter Ronan's carefully constructed world and Ronan knows there's no coming back from that a second time. But when a series of escalating attacks against Seth forces Ronan back into his life, Seth knows it's his last chance to show Ronan he can be the man the broken surgeon needs. Only the Ronan who returns isn't the Ronan Seth fell in love with so long ago... Can Seth be Ronan's salvation or will he end up destroying them both? **Full length novel (80k words) Trigger This book does contain a possible trigger for some readers. Specifics can be found by utilizing the "Look Inside" feature or downloading a sample and scrolling to the page right before the table of contents. Please note that reading the trigger that is included may cause spoilers. ***This is Book 2 in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone story - no cliffhangers.*** The Protectors series crosses over with some of my other series, so for the most enjoyment, they should be read in order, but it is not required. I was so impatient to read this that I skipped book one but have since found out it is M/M/M....damn,I missed out there!!

Ronan is in his thirties. He was in a loving relationship with Trace when a tragic event left him devastated. As a result he's extremely closed of,so much so that he can't stand to be touched.

Seth is 21,the younger brother of Trace. He's been crushing on Ronan for years.Three years ago they shared a kiss only for Ronan to walk away and turn his back on Seth.
Seth has emotional issues of his own after a terrible tragedy in his life. He's become very introverted as a result.

At the same time Ronan comes back into his life a series of events take place which indicate that his life might be in danger.

The push and pull between these two men left me exhausted at times.Mainly on the part of Ronan.Every time they seemed to be getting somewhere Ronan backed of.
They do have great chemistry together and the sex scenes are extremely hot.
Overall I enjoyed it and I'm really looking forward to Hawkes's story....

Re-read 7/25/18.... still a great read ;)

Ever since reading the previous book, where I was introduced to Ronan, I've been on pinns and needles to read his story. I figured he had a hell of a story to tell....and I was right.

We learned in the previous book, that Ronan is the boss of an underground vigilante organisation, who punish/kill the scum that walk the earth. We're talking childmolesters, abusers, rapists and killers, especially those who got away with their crimes.

Ronan hasn't always been this person though... Seven years ago, Ronan was a surgeon and in the army. He was also in a loving relationship with his fiancee Trace. I was very curious about the events that led to Ronans personality change and when I found out....my heart broke right along with his...

photo tumblr_nn7sjoB5Gt1tv4k5po1_500_zpshkskqcxa.gif

Ever since this tragic event, Ronan has been living for his job, making the evil of the world pay. He doesn't really have a life outside of what he does, and his only friend is Hawke...the man who helped him become, who he is today. Ronan is not really living his life...he's surviving.

There is however one very important person, who's connected to his past and we all know, you can't bury your past forever. Ronan will have to face his demons and protect this last and very precious piece of his past.

 photo 051af2090ba28a718538d6a625a68a99b6ad14-wm_zpsr4ntsq9c.jpg

Seth hasn't lived the easiest life. One day he was a happy 14 year old, loved by his parents and his big brother, the next all of that was taken away from him. He had to get over his traumas and grief and grow up very fast. The growing up he tried to do as best as he could, getting over his trauma was much much harder. He didn't expect his big crush to come back into his life, after he got mugged. Especially since the man ran away from him 3 years ago, when Seth tried to kiss him. Seth has been in love with Ronan since he was a boy and his feelings have never changed, not even when Ronan left and he had to deal with with all the tragedy on his own.

Now Ronan is back...but he's not the same man he was before. Then again...Seth isn't the same boy anymore either. The attraction between these two man is so strong, but will they be able to get over their shared past... and will all the secrets Ronan has been keeping destroy them, before they even have a chance.

I really enjoyed this story, even though parts of it were pretty hard to read. Their stories were very heartbreaking and I really understood how Ronan became who he is now. He did piss me off a couple of times, but a few minutes later I felt sorry for him again. Seth was the hero in this book actually. Even though he was still struggeling with his PTSD, he was so strong and brave. He also has a heart of gold.

photo straight man loves best friend_zps6zvegklm.jpg

I myself struggeled a bit with Ronan's previous relationship. There were times I felt Seth was taken for granted and I worried about him being second best, because Seth should never be anyones second best !! The epilogue was very nice and helped set my mind at ease. I enjoyed the fact that we got to see Mace Cole and Jonas again. I'm also very excited about Hawke's book..I hope we won't have to wait to long ;) I Loved Bullet the dog, he was awesome !!

I do want to give a shout out, since this book contains some triggers !!

This is the second book in the"Protectors"series !!

Good grief...

This did not go well. Obvs.

Things started off badly after I had just listened to and Joel Leslie's voice for Seth and Ronin which sounded virtually the same as his voices for Jonas and Mace. The hitching/breathy thing he did in I endured because I thought it was something he'd utilize just for them. Nope, he did the same thing with these two. It got old. Fast.

I also HATED Ronin. Ronin is a bag of dicks. He jerks Seth around more than a Jamaican restaurant does to chicken or pork. Combined.

Seth, who is also Ronin's dead lover's brother, has been in love with him since forever. He has anxiety issues since the violent death of his parents and his own brutal attack during a home invasion. I big part of me found him to be a sympathetic character. He's sweet, loving, kind, forgiving, but the level of shit that he puts up with from Ronin cost him my respect. He needs a spinal transplant. Stat.

Kennedy also employed that minimizing past relationships to emphasize how right the current one is that I loathe under any circumstances, but in this case Trace, the ex in question, is dead! Like, what even?!?! That's just mean.

There is a lot of sex in this book which frankly, I couldn't even get into, because... pick any or all of the above reasons. Seth is a virgin. Seems he's been saving himself for this joker. So the second time they have sex it's bareback. Fine. Whatevs. They're grown men, but if you're going with the we're soooooo caught up in the moment gambit then why the hell does Ronin have the foresight to fish the handy lube packet out of his wallet and bypass the condom? That coupled with the fact that I thought it was idiotic that Seth kept subjected himself to be used and left again and again and again... and you could've thrown 100 scenes with a needy, begging, dirty talking bottom and I still would've been...

The hurt/comfort seems to be the order of the day with this series, but there was enough of a balance between the two in this installment for my taste. Trigger warnings for rape, mentions of murder, violence and torture.

I will probably carry on with this series after a break but not in audio form. Who knows maybe if I had read instead of listened to it things would've turned out differently. *shrugs* What's done is done.

Angsty as fuck, and just as sweet.

The plot was a hot mess; there were numerous plot holes and WTF?!?! moments.

Ronan is the very definition of "emotionally unavailable." He's so damaged, he can't bear to be touched, and his fuck-and-run routine got old fast.

Living in his brother's shadow after having survived the unthinkable, Seth is stronger than he seems

These two definitely have extra special magic dicks that cure all. Pssst .... I want one.

But, hell, this book is so intensely hot & dirty, and so full of FEELS, I got completely sucked in. The sex was just WHOA.

Sloane Kennedy is my new addiction. She writes lickable sex scenes and badass wounded heroes. She even makes guns sexy.

I liked this book better than the first, and I'll definitely be reading Hawke's story.

3.75 Stars!

A nice addition to the series. While I haven't been able to give either of the first two books in the series more than 4 stars, I have enjoyed them.

There's just something about them that doesn't blow me away.

In Salvation my frustrations for the 2 MCs (well mostly one) outweighed the more tender, emotional moments between them.

There was just a lot of back and forth and push and pull. Therefore there wasn't a lot of "couple" time.

Still, there were definitely some intense and emotional scenes between the MCs (not to mention some HAWT sex) which won me over in the end.

The teaser for Hawke's story....yeah, I'll be reading that one!

3,5 rounded up

I've wanted to read this series for 2 years, but I feared I'll need to read all the books in a row and my TBR was already increasing.

I skipped the first book, because I've read right before this one and I've had my fill on the MMM. Well I still want to read , but I'll probably do it after reading other books in this series.

What I got here was: great writing, action, smoking-hot chemistry and a lot of angst.

I can't say I was disturbed about Ronan lusting after Seth, his dead ex's younger brother, even if he did compare them a few times (in his head).

At first I think Ronan was too rough and cold. Seth was introverted and was still struggling about leaving his house. He lost his parents and his brother. He was all alone, even if Ronan looked after him from afar, but kept his distance for over 3 years. Now someone is after Seth and Ronan would do anything to protect him.

What didn't really work for me would be the push and pull between the MCs. And even if we do get super hot scenes, the action didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. I also guessed who was after Seth and we didn't get many surprises on the way. But I have great hopes about this series. The writing was still great and I never got bored. Looking forward to reading more. These men are tough and rough and pretty bad boys. Just my favorite kind of guys!

Oh the push and pull angst was delicious here!

Just when I thought my frustrations would get the better of me, Seth or Ronan would do or say something that made me understand their actions.

The suspense element was a bit of a throwaway here, but the emotional aspect of Ronan and Seth's relationship more than made up for it.

Really looking forward to reading Hawke's story!

"Salvation" is the second book in "The Protectors series" The MC's Seth/Ronan are connected by the loss of Seth's brother who was also Ronan's fiancé. Ronan is so devastated by his loss he disappears from Seth's life, leaving him heartbroken since his been secretly in love with him. Years later they are brought together, when someone is trying to hurt Seth.
This was an emotional rollercoaster, filled with some action, plots and twists!! The only thing that I didn't like was the push and pull from Ronan side. Part of me understood him, he went through so much pain, his reasons for doubting his relationship with Seth weren't superficial. Considering how much his life changed and the violence his life is filled with. My frustration came from how much he would hurt Seth every time he would push him away! Especially since Seth needed him so much. But regardless this two guys had this amazing connection their chemistry was so hot when it came to their sexual encounters. Even a simple kiss was so fiercely sexy. All the suffering these two lived through just made their relationship more intense and passionate.
I'm looking forward to the next book, Hawke's story!

OK, I definitely enjoyed this one much more than I did the last one. So hopefully this is a sign of the books in this series getting better as they go.
Ronan is as emotionally unavailable as it gets. And Seth is quite vulnerable and unfortunately let’s himself become a doormat for Ronan’s antics for some time in the book. But eventually Seth grows a backbone and things get better once he does.
The shit Ronan went through with Seth’s older brother was brutal and hard to read about. This author really brings it with the heavy issues in her books. No light fluffy reading here my fellow readers.
Seth has had his own dose of trauma and suffers from an anxiety disorder because of it. So these two, are really quite messed up. But when they do come together the moments are sweet and emotional. They work. They fit. And they heal each other.
We don’t get a lot of them together, but the moments we do make up for all of Ronan’s annoying bullshit he pulled.
Definitely a good addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next one.
Happy reading, dolls!

And just like that I melted into a puddle of goo again...

God, this voice!!! Joel Leslie could probably recite the alphabet backwards to me and I would love it! He can convey feelings like no other and his voice is trembling -trembling- when he comes to the most emotional parts or the... sex scenes. Umm, I might have been trembling a bit myself. *cough*...

The narration alone deserves nothing less than 5 stars from me, but even though this story had only one of my pet peeves in it, compared to the first one, I didn't quite liked it as much as .

~3.5 stars~

I can't even begin to tell you how torn I am about this book. I went back and fourth with my rating a hundred times. I'll settle with 3.5 stars rounded down, because by the end of the book my few niggles became too big to overlook, but note that I did enjoy this a lot, and I'm really looking forward to the next installment.

The Ronan we meet in Salvation is nothing like the one we met in Absolution. I loved that. We get to see how he became such a cold, heartless bastard, after he lost his partner, Trace. At first, he made me mad because he kept letting Seth down again and again. And again. But I couldn't really hold it against him because his reasons were valid.

And that's something that happened a lot. The character's actions would piss me off, but a few pages later, everything made sense. For instance, I thought that Seth was a damsel in distress at first, but later on it became clear that he's no doormat.

Seth is Trace's little brother. Needless to say, it's not that easy for Ronan to just give in to his feeling about his dead partner's brother. But he will.

The sex is extra dirty. Like "hands tied behind your back with a belt" dirty. Or sex "while hanging from a coat hook" dirty. You get the picture. Oh, and Seth was a virigin.

The mystery was nice, although I saw the resolution coming from a mile away. There were many emotional scenes, especially when Ronan started breaking down, that I liked a lot.

And a great cameo from Mace, Jonas, and Cole. It was nice seeing them again.

What didn't work for me:

There's a lot of "magic dick" involved. Ronan feels "broken", and Seth "could actually start putting him back together" . And Ronan does the same for Seth. That's a big no for me. I believe 100% that a supportive partner can make it better, but no dick can "cure" anxiety or PTSD caused by abuse.

Seth's reaction when he learnt who Ronan really is.

Like in Absolution, I felt that the MC's internal monologues took too much space and became repetitive.

Overall, this was a good story that reads easily despite the heavy content. I didn't like it as much as I liked the first book in the series, but I still enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to Hawke's story.

The Story: 3 Pants Off

What in all the drama was this?

Ronan Grisham. Trauma Surgeon, lover, and a fighter. Ronan had it all with the man he loved until tragedy came in and took everything from him. When he was given the opportunity to seek revenge he took the path he now walks as a Protector. Ronan is in charge of elite bunch of killers who rid the world of the worst type of scum. He’s very much detached from life but is all about his job. Then there’s Seth, beautiful innocent Seth the little brother of his slain lover.

The things Ronan is feeling for Seth is a complication he doesn’t need but when Seth is assaulted Ronan makes his grand appearance into his life once again. It seems Ronan is here to stay when the violence against Seth starts to escalate to the point of dangerous 😜 and he needs to protect him. But sparks are flying and Seth has made it quite clear his feelings for Ronan hasn’t changed, and Ronan has never been able to deny Seth.

This begins a push and pull of a man falling for his dead lovers little brother, and protecting him from harm.

Seriously, this book had so much stuff going on and by stuff I mean all the bad happenings that have happened to Seth. His parents are murdered and he was violently hurt in the process, his brother gets murdered and he’s left alone, then someone is trying to kill him now. It was just all a little too much and it just kept getting more ridiculous. This is only my second book in the series but it’s the most ridiculous so far and that’s counting that in the first book a man almost shot another man because he thought he was a pedophile 😩.

Overall, ridiculousness x10 and Seth and Ronan didn’t really do anything for me 🤷🏽‍♀

The Narration: 2 Pants Off

🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😭😭😭 those emojis are my reaction to my listening experience. There was just so much emoting especially on Ronan’s part. Who in the world thought this was acceptable? I’d like to have a word please.

Joel Leslie you did a bad job here sir, and while the story should have been angst ridden I found myself laughing at random points and I couldn’t take anything seriously.

What a complete and utter disappointment. The story was already lacking and the narration just made it all the worse.

It’s a no for me dawg.

After reading and loving Absolution I was curious about Ronan and I could not wait to start Salvation and OMG what a heart wrenching story the hell that both Ronan and Seth have been through and survived.

These two men apart are broken but slowly with time they are healing each other without even realising it.

Ronan is the strength that Seth needs to face the outside world and Seth has the healing powers of love and touch that Ronan needs to forgive himself.

This story had me gripped I loved the relationship between Ronan and Seth it is not an easy one considering their past and the fact that they argue and storm off OFTEN but the make up sex WOW.

Even though I knew straight away who was behind what was happening to Seth and what happened to his parents this took nothing away from the story and it was great having Mace, Cole and Jonas pop up in the story.

I have to read Hawke's story next, I have a feeling I will be reading a LOT from Sloane Kennedy in 2018 (Amazon will be happy lol).

Following on from book 1, the leader of a band of mercenaries out to deliver justice to those outside it, races to protect his ex -lover's younger brother. Both are scarred. Both were tortured. Both got too close to Death to come away untouched. Can having soo much in common make or break them.

I was provided a complimentary copy of the audio by the narrator in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

This series has been on my TBR pile for a while now, and I purchased , and maybe a year ago while they were on sale, and yet they stayed on that darn TBR pile collecting dust. When Joel Leslie offered an audio copy in exchange for a review, I jumped at the chance because I knew this would jump start me into reading this series.

First let me start by saying this is not a light romance. There is a lot of death and grief and trauma and violence in this story. If that's not your cuppa, you should probably skip this one as there are no unicorns frolicking in the fields here. :-D

Wow, where to start. I have not read book 1 yet, and I believe these are meant to be standalone novels, but I do think reading book 1 would have helped because I think certain elements are tied together. Regardless, I was fully able to immerse myself into this traumatic tale and feel connected to Ronan and Seth. The truth behind what happened to Seth's brother (and Ronan's fiancé) is truly tragic and mark's a turning point in Ronan's life - from trauma surgeon to avenger. With the help of another, Ronan is able to exact revenge on those responsible for his fiancé's death, and thru the years, Ronan drafts others like him who have suffered tragedy with no legal justice. This new life has changed Ronan in so many ways that he hardly recognizes the man he used to be.

Seth, who is young and innocent, has been in love with Ronan for years, never once believing Ronan could return those feelings. And Ronan does his best to stay away from Seth because he doesn't want to taint Seth with the blood on his hands (vigilante justice). This was a true roller coaster of emotions and the action is non-stop. I am excited to go back and read book 1 to see what I have missed and then I will continue with this series.

Joel Leslie did a great job with the narration. I personally think this book would have benefited from dual narration, allowing Seth's character to have a younger voice (not as deep or gravelly and Joel's is) and give better separation between Ronan and Seth. But all in all, wonderful job - the emotions and tensions were all there, I knew what the characters were feeling because it came across in Leslie's voice.

4 stars.

3.75 stars!! 😢💕 Heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, steamy and wonderful!! Seth and Ronan had been through so much. Seth's traumatic past led him to suffer severe anxiety issues which was very realistic and understandable.. how could he not? My heart broke for what he had been through at such a young age.😭 But Ronan.. OMG!😱 His pain and suffering was truly torturous, and compounded by his feelings of guilt? his preference for a solitary life was obvious. But with Seth's life in danger, Ronan sets his guilt and attraction for Seth on the side and comes back into his life. For Seth, things have not changed much; he still loves Ronan just as truly, madly and deeply 😍as he did when he first met him (as his brother's boyfriend), and then 3 years ago when he kissed him and Ronan left. 💘 The electric attraction between them is instant and combustive, however, the past tragedies have shadowed both their lives so much that it is difficult to see past the darkness into light.
There is a lot of back and forth between the two but through-out the story their undying love for each other was strong and Seth's strength stood out to me😍. Ronan's journey was hard fought since he had to reconcile with his love for Seth as against what he felt for Trace 😢. But with help from Seth and Hawke he was able to get some clarity. The HEA was well-deserved and a long time coming. 💕😍

"For all the times I'd worried about how his touch would shatter me, I hadn't even once considered that his touch could actually start putting me back together again."

This was a tough one to rate because I was expecting too much to love it. Unfortunately, I didn't. This story was equally compelling and frustrating. I think I face-palmed myself a lot of times whenever Ronan unintentionally, I think, 'played' with Seth's feelings. He was this type of character who tends to pull Seth towards him for sex but when Seth is now asking for something he pushes him away. He did the classic push and pull narrative making Seth vulnerable for most parts of the story. Hell, he even keeps on disappearing for days! I don't hate him; I just wished he handled his issues in a better way. There so much more I want to rant about but it's negative energy and I don't want to dwell on it anymore. I still think Kennedy is an excellent writer. I love how her stories are far from basic and promises so much complexity. Three stars because I can't forgive Ronan for giving me sooooo much frustration. A better and more reasonable person will handle himself responsibly. The sex was hot though.

** 4.5 stars **

I really don't care for dead lover/husband/fiance trope but since Ronan is essential for this series I knew I needed to read this one to fully enjoy it. Trace (the aforementioned deceased fiance) was not on the forefront, so by the time I was half way into the story I didn't mind him at all. I liked that Ronan acknowledged his not so stellar choices, that he was not perfect and was not put on the pedestal.

Ronan went through a horrible ordeal that should have never happened. It broke my heart when he recounted what happened. For the most of the story he carries a lot of guilt and grief since he actually never even tried to deal with it. I liked him for the most part but there was a little niggling that it felt to me that Ronan was using Seth and his love for him. But in the end I figured out that Ronan simply didn't know how to release all the poison and anguish that have been a part of him for so long, and that Seth actually would be the catalyst to his healing and the start of new and happy life.

I liked Seth a lot and rooted for him. He went through so much when he was so young. When the adults that should have been there for him one day simply were not, he stood on his own two feet. He survived on his own, and I am so proud of him. I liked him for Ronan better than Trace. Trace was not right for Ronan at all. Things happen in mysterious ways, and all turns out as it should be. Both men had to go through pain, heartache and so much suffering in order to be together.

The stalker situation and subsequent attacks on Seth were scattered through the book and around 40% of the book the culprit was evident. But the twist in the end was unexpected. So that part was good. I loved reading about Seth and Ronan getting together and figuring things out. I really liked the appearance of Mace, Cole and Jonas, and how Ms Kennedy emphasized the possibility of all of them being one big family. I am really enjoying this series. I highly recommend this book!

Ugh this is a hard one to rate. See, I adored Seth , but Ronan .... he irritated the ever-loving heck out of me with his constant push and pull, pull and push, rinse and repeat. That damn bloke gave me whiplash! He hurt Seth over and over, and Seth being so very broken already wasn't equipped to deal with Ronan's ridiculous "it's all about me" drama! Yet cope he did, Seth was a total star

That said, I love SK's writing, she really does get me in the feels and this book is no exception. I liked this one, but thanks to Ronan I didn't love it.

I was really looking forward to continuing this series, checking in with the guys from book one, seeing what made Ronan tick and where his story would lead. As I started, and probably the first half of the book, I found I was starting to get a little bogged down with the heavy angst and had to switch to something a little more uplifting. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great book, but back to back angst-fests sometimes require a little fluff in between them. So, I immediately came right back and for some reason the story just took off. I was, at first, thinking I would be finished with the series after this book, to being excited about reading the third installment. I guess what I am trying to say is that this book, and this series in general, will scatter your emotions all across the board, but it is really well written and if you can get passed all the emotional roadblocks you will find a great story.

Ronan and Seth take the cake on damaged and tortured souls. Both had major, and I mean super-duper major issues to overcome. How they could even become a couple with all that was between them is amazing. This story is full of pasts that include violence, murder, and rape. It is definitely not for everyone. Even though the acts are not on page at the time they occur, they are described in pretty graphic detail. That is not a deal breaker for me, but others will need to be forewarned. I am assuming if you read book one, you can handle this one, too. I am not going to go into any summation of the book, the blurb is pretty spot-on, but I will tell you that you can take that blurb and exponentially increase the damage that was done to our protagonists.

In the beginning, I was a little unsure of Seth and Ronan as a couple. The fact that Trace was Seth’s brother kind of gave me fits. I got over it, but it makes me wonder what would have happened in the long run had things been different.

Now that I’ve decided I am going to read on, and after I read the prologue for book three, I am super excited for Hawke’s story. But, I digress, if you love your men damaged, both inside and out, this one is for you. If you don’t mind a little age difference, a book full of angst, and lots of violence, then this book is for you, too. If you want all that and a happy ending, too…then this book is for you.

4 stars for « salvation » , book 2 in the “protectors series can be read as a standalone, but some background can be missed if Absolution is not read first.

After a brutal attack where Ronan was severely injured and Trace, his partner, died, Ronan turned cold and found solace in building over the years an organization taking justice in its hands and getting revenge where the law doesn't. While doing his vigilante’s mission, he’s made aware of a beating involving Seth, Trace’s younger brother, now an adult and comes back to check on him.
Ronan is not the only one to be damaged by his past. Seth not only lost his brother, but also previously to that, his parents during a home robbery. Despite his anxiety, he’s a very smart young businessman and in love with Ronan since they met when he was still a teen.
Neither Ronan and Seth have any idea about the extent of their past traumas and consequences and have to fight their demons while dealing with the strong attraction they feel for each other, building new memories over the past awful ones.

I found this book much darker than all the others previously written by this author, who is one of my favorites. This book is filled with so much angst and violence, sometimes only suggested, sometimes very vivid. I still struggle with the “revenge theme from this series. However, it’s outshadowed by the powerful chemistry and emotion between the MCs and, let’s be honest here, I’m a sucker for alpha-males with a gentle side and for damaged characters and I developed a soft spot for Ronan who, despite his coldness and his annoying tendency to run from Seth’s affection, is so tender and ready to be open with him.
And as usual, the sex is hot, so dirty and so great.

Once again, Sloane Kennedy did it for me : I was sucked in the story and, as usual, whished the book were less fast-paced and a bit longer so that I could have enjoyed it even longer. I am looking forward to book 3 of this series.

I usually don’t read M/M romance often but something about this book invited me in to it. May be the steamy book cover or name? But... I’m so glad it did. I went in to this completely blind and Sloane kennedy was a new author to me so you can imagine my reluctance. But once i started I was hooked.

There was an underlying brooding, mysterious vibe going from from the first page itself. It totally got me off guard. I never thought this to be a serious book. Man was I wrong!

Ronan was in stable happy relationship with guy when tragedy struck. Eventhough Ronan walked out of it alive ,he was a changed man. It broke me to read the things he and his partner suffered. So when he never got the justice he was promised and deserved, he was broken. And help came to him from an equally mysterious and broken man thus the beginning of a underground vigilante group. Unknown to all this Seth ( brother to Ronan’s deceased partner) is surviving his own personal fears and battles. The story is all about their journey to healing and how Ronan got a second chancd with a man who was in love with him for so many years.

I enjoyed this book very much. It has some triggers but I totally respect the author for mentioning it in the first page itself. Eventhough it was somewhat spoilerish.
What got me a little irritated was the way Ronan constantly pushed Seth away. And the way he abandoned Seth unknowingly. But still he made up to it. I will definitely read more from her in future.
Recommended eventhough please mind the triggers.

I am going to keep this brief. Not many things to talk about anyway AS THERE WAS BARELY ANY PLOT! I get maybe Kennedy was trying to take the character-based approach *shrugs*. It just didn't work for me. I might have been more on board if I would have liked Ronan's character.

This book was a let down. The first book was so good and I just don't know what made Kennedy go in the direction she chose. I was really looking forward to Ronan's story. He was so mysterious and intriguing in the first book. But now I kind of just hate him. He was the shining example of how not to win a person's heart who has been through some very traumatic shit 😡. He was emotionally distant and ran at the barest hint of emotion from Seth. I know he had his own baggage and I should cut him some slack for it, but I'm not. This is the reason why they tell you to work on yourself before you attempt to be with someone. Seth had to put aside all his hurt and feelings just to be with Ronan. I feel like Seth forgave Ronan too soon. But I loved Seth so maybe I'm being a little overprotective of him.

This book got three stars because of Seth and Hawke. It could have been more of Ronan wasn't such a dick. I believe the next book is about Hawke and so hope Kennedy doesn't fuck that up for me too.

Better than the first but still over-the-top silliness. Ronan (they call me Mr Dickweed) spends the better part of this book running away from just about everyone and everything. Annoying.

Seth? A rich virgin with anxiety who just happens to run a shipping company even though he spends an extraordinary amount of time in his bedroom being sad.

Something that is beginning to irritate me, a lot, is the long, drawn out, horrible, past violence that occurs to all of the main characters in this series. I feel it’s more of a shock and awe thing for the reader.

So Trace is murdered. Brutally. Let’s downplay the whole relationship because now I’m going to fuck his brother. Pure fantasy.

Toward the end I just became bored. Skimmed the sex which was everywhere and often and dumb. Can’t think of anything else to say? Throw in another sex scene. Trying to hit a quota or something?

Two more to go then I’m done. Hope for the best and expect the worst.

Wow, did that book give me major whiplash! All that toeing and froeing!
I hardly ever got out of 'WTF?' or 'Nahhh, surely not!'

All I can say... Ronan and Seth have a totally f***ed up relationship to start with. Everything is wrong about it, if you ask me. And not much changes until the last 20 percent of the book.
What got my hackles up most

Again, both characters have gone through so much in their past, it simply was too much, and, with the plot going from unrealistic to totally unbelievable (like NOT even in your wildest dreams!) at times, I did find it hard to like this one as much as book 1.But then, I could not hate it either.

There is so much scope for more here. But then ..., Sloane Kennedy does emotions incredibly well. And that is exactly what pulled me in - again. Despite all my moans and groans I needed to know that Ronan and Seth were ok.

I have read book 3 before, but will do so again now. :) Not letting this series go yet.
