What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
But what didn't happen in Vegas seems to follow them everywhere.

Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense to not consummate their drunken Las Vegas wedding. If they鈥檇 doubled-down on that mistake, their Just Friends situation might not be half as great as it is now.

... Or so goes the official line.

In reality, Lola鈥檚 wanted Oliver since day one鈥攁nd over time has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. More at home in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola鈥檚 instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. So why ruin a good thing?

Even as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can鈥檛 get his mind off what he didn鈥檛 do with Lola when he had the chance. He knows what he wants with her now ... and it鈥檚 far outside the friend zone. When Lola鈥檚 graphic novel starts getting national acclaim鈥攁nd is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture鈥擮liver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. After all, she鈥檚 not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she鈥檚 the kind who鈥檒l eventually like him.

Sometimes seeing what鈥檚 right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wild night in Vegas isn鈥檛 just the end of a day, but the beginning of a bright new life...

** 3 鈥You鈥檙e my hero.鈥 STARS **

鈥淗e always did that,鈥 Harlow says, and then takes a drink of her wine. 鈥淟ooked at you like if he stared hard enough you could hear each other鈥檚 thoughts and wouldn鈥檛 have to say them out loud. Like he wanted to be in your mind, wanted you in HIS.鈥

description

The most potent feeling I had while reading this story was PITY.

Yes, pity. Pity for poor Oliver. A perfect man flipping and flopping like a fish on the ground to make his Lola Love to notice that he is goddamn deep in love with her.

鈥淪ometimes I wish I could meet you all over again. And pay better attention.鈥
~ OLIVER

description

I could almost hear my heart cracking for him at SO MANY scenes. I just wanted to shout at him to stop chasing and let her go. He deserved better, for sure.

I love you, is what I want to say, but how many times should I say it without her saying it back?
~ OLIVER

I鈥檓 not sure she even has a milisecond of time to think about romance, but it鈥檚 fine; I think about it enough for the both of us.
~ OLIVER

鈥淚鈥檓 in love with you, Lola, but I鈥檓 also terrified you鈥檒l ruin me.鈥
~ OLIVER

description

Lola ruined it all for me.

She was annoying. She was dumb. She was so damn annoying. She was socially awkward. She was goddamn annoying. She was cold and off-putting.

Did I mention how f*cking annoying she was?

She seriously made me want to strangle myself and end this misery.

When I first finished the book, I thought the only problem with it was 鈥渟丑别-飞丑辞-尘耻蝉迟-苍辞迟-产别-苍补尘别诲鈥. But now that I've had some time to digest it all, I've decided I have one more reason to be disappointed with this story.

You see, I'M A NERD. Plain and simple. I'm one of those girls that waited for the new Harry Potter book for hours on kilometers of long ques, that went to see all the Harry Potter movies on their first release day dressed up as Hermione Granger, that argued about 鈥#TeamPeeta or #TeamGale鈥 on internet forums with hundreds of people, that wrote Twilight fanfics when the books first came out like a crazy fangirl, that used to watch all Marvel animation shows on TV like babies hypnotized by the how the washing machine spins, that still always waits till the end of the end-credits at EVERY SINGLE Marvel movie just in case there's an extra 5-second-long scene at the end (even if the movie theatre's employee starts to get pissed off and tells me to 鈥渇*ck off already鈥), that knows almost everything about Game of Thrones by heart and can discuss with anyone about anything non-stop, that can reference little quotes from every episode of South Park and so many other shows........ I think you get the drill.

So you can imagine how crazy excited I was about this book, that was supposed to be about 2 nerds in love. I expected them going to Comic-Con together. I imagined they would do cosplays. I thought they would make inside jokes to each other about comic books, and make pop-art references.

Non of those things happened, though. NON!

Lastly, please...PLEASE don't write sex scenes like:

description

JUST DON'T. The idiocy of that act always disgusts me. It doesn't mean the couple is sooooo in lurvvvvv that they can't even wait for THAT. It means they are both pinheads. It's not romaaaaantic. It's distasteful.

OVERALL: I will keep on reading this series. OF COURSE I WILL. But I am noticing a decrease in quality with every new book, which is sad. So very sad.

P.S: Not-Joe is my favourite character in the whole series. He is hilarious and deserves a book of his own. Just sayin'...

鈥淲ho鈥檚 the front and who鈥檚 the back?鈥 Oliver asks. 鈥淟ike, am I getting George Clooneyed by George Clooney, or am I doing the Clooneying?鈥

鈥淥liver,鈥 Not-Joe says. 鈥He鈥檚 George f*cking Clooney. He doesn鈥檛 get Clooneyed!鈥

Dark Wild Night was a highly anticipated read for me. I鈥檝e been dying to read Lola and Oliver鈥檚 book since I read the first in the series. I love that they are both geeks. I鈥檓 a geek so I like to read about other geeks. I love that Oliver and Lola didn鈥檛 take the same path as the other two couples. Their night in Vegas turned into something different. They went the responsible route, did the right thing and realized they had a lot in common. A friendship stemmed from that.

Oliver owns a comic book store. Lola鈥檚 published graphic novel is being made into a film. It鈥檚 a crazy busy time for her. Thankfully, she has Oliver by her side, being her friend when she needs one. He's someone she can always talk to. But Lola feels more. And so does Oliver鈥 I don鈥檛 want to tell too much about the story. Just know that Oliver is amazing and Lola is great most of the time (though there were times she made me SMH) and my good friend Not Joe was hilarious as always.

I loved Oliver and Lola together. I鈥檓 such a sucker from friendship turning into more. If your looking for a steamy, easy to read romance with a little bit of angst and some humor, pick this one up! If you want Oliver to read it to you with his Australian accent, I highly recommend the audio version! Although this wasn鈥檛 my favorite book in the series, I still enjoyed it overall!

鈥漌e are not our friends. We have our own path, okay?鈥

This novel is sadly my least favorite of the series to date. Once I was halfway through, I finally pinpointed what wasn鈥檛 working for me and sadly, it鈥檚 the heroine鈥 Lola.

I had a very hard time connecting to her and her train of thought. At first, I thought it was my lack of comic book knowledge, but after further reading, it wasn鈥檛 that at all. Lola is dense and not in a cute way. She lacks any sort of communication skills and is a hard heroine to get a read on.

"Are you implying that I intentionally sabotaged this thing with Oliver?鈥

description

鈥滻 love you, is what I want to say, but how many times should I say it without her saying it back?鈥

description

Oliver鈥檚 the hot and sexy nerd. He wears glasses and is a total boss in the bedroom. Friends who deem books 鈥榮afe鈥 may want to inquire about one aspect in the story though. I found Oliver much easier to relate to.

description

Overall, this story was sexy and equally irritating. If not for Not Joe, this read would have been an even bigger disappointment. I wish we could have had a glimpse of their time in Vegas and perhaps something special from that night. I appreciated Oliver and Lola went the friendship route, I just wished it was slightly more in the dreamy/epic department.

I feel like I say this every time I read one of their books... But this just became my favorite Christina Lauren book.

Dark Wild Night continues to follow the story of what happens after three friends go to Vegas and end up marrying three men they met while there. This time we follow Lola and Oliver.

I can't even start to express how much I loved these two characters. Lola is completely different from any other female lead they have given us in the past. First off Christina Lauren often write these bubbly strong in your face leading ladies you love, but this time they give us Lola. She is a shy-timid-a tiny bit antisocial writer of a recently opted for film graphic novel. Like serious, how can I not like her!?! She reads and writes badass comics! Speaking of comics it brings us to our lead male... Oliver. The steamy Aussie that owns his own comic book store. Y'all not only is Lola my favorite female, Oliver is my favorite male. He is perfection! He had me realizing that we don't have nearly enough nerdy leading guys in books. The last time I got an adorable nerdy boo was Simon and that was way back when City of Bones came out... LITERARY WORLD WE ARE LACKING IN NERDY MALE LEADS PLEASE CHANGE THIS!!! Because Oliver yall... GOOD GOD, is so yummy. Has me head over heels!

The relationship between these two is next level lovey. I love that it's usually the girl having to work around the guys hectic work schedule in books like these, but in this one they flipped it and strayed away from a pattern that would be easy to fall into. They have a leading lady who is owning her job and her success and a man who is fully ready to support. Plus they highlighted something so very important, feminism. Yeah you read that right! They manage to bring up feminism in a new adult romance book, and they do it flawlessly! Lola stances on how people interview her had me wanting to jump straight into this book and high-five the shit out of her! Bold move CL, very bold move; loved it. Oh and major props on the massive amount of comic book references! They had me so giddy about all the little bits they added in. Everything from the Sex Criminals reference to the hilarious DareDevil movie joke completely sealed the deal. They also continue to break the norm by giving us a leading man who isn't an A-hole turns nice guy. Yeah, I love those stories as much as the next, but it's great when the nice guy doesn't finish last. Oh and I know that most of the secondary characters are ones we've seen before but I can't post this review and not talk about Not-Joe. He has to be one of my all time favorite side characters. Every scene he is had me dying!!!! Every bizarre comment that leaves is mouth kills and brings the best comic relief.

This story is such a feel good read and keeps that feeling the whole time. All the sexual tension will have you frantically flipping through pages to find out what will happen next. From page one you'll be cheering for these two love birds and their unique flirty friendship too turn into something more. I loved that this book took a different direction plot wise than the two previous ones. It wasn't about waiting for a plot twist bomb to drop, it was all about the building of a relationship. All about taking a friendship to the next level. I know how much people love the Beautiful Bastard Series but in my opinion the Wild Season Series surpasses it. It has such a hilarious concept and then these two back it up. These two writers get romance and have yet to let me down.

I loved this friends to lovers second chance romance story. This is a summer must read.

I give up!

Well....my foray in to MF was rather short lived.

Giving this one the DNF @ 18%. Yeah, yeah...I barely read any. But I read enough to start getting annoyed and my reading time is precious so #imoverit

I will just never understand why two people can't just have a conversation and tell each other how they feel.

Pretty much from the get-go I didn't like Lola's inner monologue.

And this "thought"....

"My God, it's thick. And if Oliver is a grow'er, he could knock a woman's teeth out when he fucks her."

Aren't they all grow'ers? Would any woman honestly think that to themselves?? Mind you the whole scenario this "thought' took place in was just as eye roll inducing as the thought itself!

I, of course, knew there would be some sort of drama/"break-up"....it wouldn't be an NA book without it.

Lola makes dumb choices. Choices I knew would just further annoy me.

I will say it didn't take me long at all to fall in love with Oliver. He was 18% of perfection.

So...I shall bid farewell to MF land and head back to my boys.

5 MILLION STARS

I NEED AN OLIVER IN MY LIFE, RIGHT NOW!

I know I always say that, but this time I mean it. He would be so perfect for me *sigh*, he鈥檚 understanding, caring, and respectful. He loves deeply and truthfully and he is just perfect for Lola who won my heart from the first line I read in this book. She is this nervous, super creative, smart, funny and clueless girl, and all that makes her just as perfect for Oliver as he was for her.

So why so many stars, you might be asking鈥

First, Christina and Lauren鈥檚 (CL鈥檚) writing, plotting, and characters鈥 development is EVERYTHING. They re-wrote this book and thank God they did. I don鈥檛 know what the other book was like, but for me they have redefined themselves with Dark Wild Night. Of course, it has the same personal touch as their other books, but this one is more special because the main characters were different from others they鈥檝e written.

Second, Lola is one of the strongest female characters I鈥檝e ever read. She鈥檚 the kind of feminist I want to be. She鈥檚 scared for all the changes happening in her life. Ok, scared might be a little light for all the emotions she went through during the story. She panicked about everything happening in her life, but I love how she found ways to deal with it all. Lola鈥檚 friendships with Harlow, Mia and London are great help to her, but who really did the trick was her dad, Greg. Greg is her rock, her compass, her strength. I love their father-daughter relationship.

Third, the gang, Mia+Ansel, Harlow+Finn, London, Not-Joe. They all have a huge part in this book. Not something new from what CL has written before, but it felt different this time. They were more involved, and all their awesome personalities were in full force. I just love them. I think Not-Joe is my favorite. I want to know all his secrets.

Fourth, the storyline is my favorite of the three written in this series so far. The Vegas thing was great, I loved it with Mia-Ansel, they had that backward kind of falling in love process that I enjoyed so much, and later I loved it with Harlow-Finn, they had that hate-love full of misunderstandings kind of relationship, and kinky, yes, very kinky *day dreaming*, but #Loliver have something more meaningful, they had a friendship first. Not that the other relationships weren鈥檛 real. They are. And their love is beautiful, but Loliver鈥檚 felt honest.

And fifth, (but not the least important), Oliver. When he said:

鈥淚 don鈥檛 think I鈥檝e ever loved anyone quite like this. In this sort of giddy, obliterating game-changing way. Where I can see myself with her for the rest of my life...鈥

After reading that, I was utterly and madly in love with him--just like Lola. Now, I understand how and why she reacted toward him and their relationship. I鈥檇 probably go crazy too!
I can鈥檛 wait to listen to the audiobook: Steve West and Shayna Thibodeaux are amazing narrators and I鈥檓 sure they will make a perfect audio for Dark Wild Night.

DREAM CAST

It's all Blia's fault! This is our Oliver.... At least for now!

Lola and Oliver were the last couple remaining of their eventful night in Vegas. But they were the only two who didn鈥檛 get involved and instead developed a strong friendship between the two of them,
Except that they both are in love with each other and neither of them wants to admit it, afraid of being unrequited. Until one night changes it all and they both know they have to fight for each other because their friendship will never be the same, but change is not always a good thing.

description

This book was sweet, funny, absolutely sexy and Oliver was completely swoon worthy. This was probably my favorite of the series, so far. My biggest problem, besides that it didn鈥檛 have an epilogue (seriously, what鈥檚 these authors problems against epilogues???), it was Lola. Her decisions annoyed so much it took a little of the fun for me.
However, if you鈥檙e a fan of the series you should definitely read this one.

Characters Development: Oliver was really good. He was sweet and so in love with Lola it was adorable. I really liked him and he鈥檚 definitely my favorite of the lot. Lola was nice but I confess she touched my nerves more than one occasion and in one especially, where I just wanted to beat her. It was nice to see more of the rest of the gang. I can鈥檛 wait for a book about London and another about Not-Joe.

The reviews for this have been very entertaining. I have friends who loved it, and friends who dnf'd in equal measure. I feel so boring and meh to admit that I'm kind of in between. I loved Oliver's pov so much I added him to my book boyfriend list. I thought the friendship between Oliver and Lola was believable and sweet. And imo, this was the best CL has done with sexual tension build-up. The first sex scene more than delivered! I loved the first half to two thirds of the novel, and I'm confident that most of Christina and Lauren's loyal fan base will enjoy the book.

I feel like I'm always complaining, but I like to hope my friends on here just think of it as part of my charm. ha! If you want a more spoilerish version, here you go.

I will say, that this book imo was a remarkable improvement over their last release, . My two favorite books by this duo are , and .

鈾 4 "Wildly Clueless" Stars! 鈾

So, after reading something dark I wanted a good light funny read so I decided to go for Christina Lauren's new book in their Wild Season series. I love their books very much and this one, well, I liked it. Let's see why.

Dark Wild Night is the story of Oliver Lore (the hottest sweetest nerd who happens to be widly in love with the protagonist) and Lorelei "Lola" Castle (also a nerd, a comic writer and a very dubious person, in terms of her feelings and confidence).

鈥淚 don鈥檛 have a choice but to want to do this, Lola. I鈥檓 in love with you.鈥

What I loved about this book, first of all, is Oliver. Oliver is an amazing male main character, he is strong, he is a nerdy, he is super sweet, and he is not afraid to show and tell about his feelings for Lola. Also, I loved when our couple are together TOGETHER because let me tell you, there were some hot HOT times. And related to this, I found it to be a quite funny book because the other characters (especially, Harlow and Not-Joe) are so directly funny! LOL

Lola鈥檚 eyes meet mine and I know the thought hits us both at the same time. I close my eyes, waiting for the explosion. 鈥淥h sh鈥斺€
Suddenly Def Leppard鈥檚 鈥淧our Some Sugar on Me鈥 blares from the front of the store.
(Not-Joe after hearing them having sex in Oliver's shop).

鈥淚 texted them,鈥 Harlow explains with a wave of her hand. 鈥淒uring the fuckfest. After you came鈥擨 think鈥攂ut before Oliver did.鈥
鈥淵ou called an emergency meeting because I was having sex with Oliver?鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 just relieved you鈥檙e getting pounded.鈥
I love you, Harlow! LOL

And I was loving this book, until Lola fucked it up. I was in 70% of the novel, when BOOM! Now is the time to push Oliver away! That's what I did not like. Lola's unsure personality. To me, in that moment, she looked weak and selfish. I felt so bad for Oliver, I literally cried.

鈥淲hat do you want, Lola?鈥
I want to feel a better sense of what shape my life is taking.
I want to draw every single story my brain is churning up right now.
I want to have Oliver, and not lose him.

However, obviously, at the end everything is alright. Still, loved these two and the other couples and I can't not wait to read the next book of the series, which I have read it's about London (Lola's flatmate) and Luke (Mia's ex). Juicy!!

Therefore, and because of my mixed feelings about Lola, my rating is 4 STARS. Still a good read, especially because of Oliver! He is amazing, really! So, if you are into Christina Lauren's books and you enjoy a good male character and a good story, I am quite sure you will like/love this. Enjoy! :)

5 Nerdy Oliver Stars

Dark Wild Night is a standalone and is part of the Wild Seasons series, which is a spin-off from the Beautiful B series.

This is my first book in this series and I LOVED IT! Gah, I need to go back and read the first two books. Not only do I love the covers, writing style and everything about these books, but every time I pick up anything from these authors they just take me to happy times.

Oliver and Lola are nerdy nerds and I feel like Christina Lauren was writing just to me. I married a nerdy guy who wears glasses, so you can see how much I LOVE Oliver.

Oliver and Lola get married months ago. I know, I am already hooked, aren鈥檛 you? They realize it was a silly drunken mistake and get it annulled. Ever since then they have been best friends. Both haven鈥檛 crossed any boundaries, BUT the attraction is there and well you know where it鈥檚 going.

I love best friends to romance book and I had a smile on my face the WHOLE time I read this. I couldn鈥檛 get enough of it! Lola is super attracted to Oliver and she even tried to have sexy times with him when they were briefly married, but Oliver declined. Oliver realizes Lola isn鈥檛 the type of girl you have a one night stand with and he didn鈥檛 want to mess up the potential friendship / relationship.

I love Lola. I found her driven, adorable and I love that she crushes on Oliver hard. Her comic book lands a movie deal and Oliver is there for her during the stressful process.

It gets better, because Oliver has feelings for Lola too! He regrets not taking the relationship further and now he thinks it鈥檚 too late.

YES! YES! YES! YES!

I loved it. I love that Oliver and Lola are crushing on each other and neither of them know what to do about it. There is crazy sexual tension and I was eating it up! My favorite part is when Lola asks to draw Oliver and Oliver offers to take off his clothes for it! It鈥檚 a really cute scene and NO! I didn鈥檛 give anything away.

If you are a fan of the series you will NOT be disappointed with Dark Wild Night. It was wickedly awesome and I loved every page of it.

Hm it took me a while but I did finish it. It took me longer than normal because I found the book a bit slow and I end up putting it down to do something else. I didn't like the whole book/movie plot, I kinda spaced out during those parts. I wish Harlow had less book time I found her annoying. Lola wasn't so bad until 70%.

Anyways what saved the book for me was Oliver. He was the sweetest hero. Also the friends to lovers storyline in the first half of the book felt believable. Overall it was okay!

I loved you before last night. I鈥檒l love you tomorrow.

I have been anxiously awaiting this book since I first met the gang. Over the series I have grown to love these characters and roles they play in their friendships. Oliver and Lola relationship to me was the most special. I always felt there was pureness to it since they actually developed a friendship instead of jumping into a one night stand.

When Dark Wild Night begins Lola has just been a movie deal for her book and is in the process of writing another book. Lola鈥檚 is under an immense amount of stress trying to accomplish her dreams and maintain her sanity. Oliver is her anchor in all this craziness and also her best friend. Since the girls have gotten married Lola has come to rely on Oliver. She also harbors secret feelings for Oliver, but after he denied her advances in Vegas she doesn鈥檛 think he is into her.

Oliver is such a fantastic character, where Lola is lost, confused and an overly cautious Oliver is grounded. He knows what he wants out of life and isn鈥檛 afraid to make the right moves to get Lola. He wanted more, which is why he turned Lola down before, now he just has to convince her he is work the risk.

Lola and Oliver together are perfection and I loved these moments, but it seemed Lola鈥檚 fear was always raining on my Loliver parade. I am not sure if it鈥檚 because we see both of their POVs and know how badly they both truly want more or what. But it was so frustrating when Lola would pull away. I wanted her to trust this amazing guy more, he isn鈥檛 someone she just met, he is her best friend. I guess I expected her to act like that with him, so yes there are growing pains.

I鈥檓 in love with you, Lola, but I鈥檓 also terrified you鈥檒l ruin me.

Despite the rocky road they took, in the end I did enjoy their story. I felt it was worth reading and while at times frustrating, the good more than outweighed the bad. I can鈥檛 wait for the next book and to see more of these guys. These are some of the most likable characters and every book I love them more!

I mean can Christina Lauren really ever write a bad book?

Is there ever going to be a time they don鈥檛 create these characters and scenes that are the most perfect combination of sweet and sexy?

Nah鈥idn鈥檛 think so either.

description

I loved how this book seemed to touch on so much more than the sexual relationship of Oliver and Lola. While all their other books always feature the build and realization of amazing relationships, this one -to me- seemed to be the most romantic out of the bunch. Maybe because they started as friend first, maybe because Oliver鈥檚 feelings were so deep rooted and he wasn鈥檛 at all scared to share them with the world and most importantly, with Lola. Maybe because their back stories and fears seemed so real. Whatever the case may be, their relationship was so insanely romantic and adorable I think my cheeks were about ready to burst from smiling so much.

description

I absolutely adored Oliver鈥檚 understanding, protective nature, and Lola鈥檚 fierce, determined attitude. And being reacquainted with the rest of the gang, Ansel + Mia and Finn + Harlow, was such a treat for fans of the series.

As always, the story was filled with some INSANELY HOT HOT HOT scenes...*ahem*

description

...and some of the most ROMANTIC (I know I鈥檝e said romantic like 4 times but..did I mention Oliver is SO EFFIN ROMANTIC?) lines CL has written.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 think I鈥檝e ever loved anyone quite like this. In this sort of giddy, obliterating game-changing way. Where I can see myself with her for the rest of my life...鈥

鈥淚s this what it means to become infatuated with someone? A heart becomes a hybrid, half yours, half theirs. Mine beats like this because it wants out. My chest aches to let his heart in.鈥

SEE??! SEE?! What did I say鈥O ROMANTIC!

The only only only thing I would have liked was a longer, more extended ending. It seemed just a tad abrupt to me. (Probably because I just adored these two so much and my greedy little hands just didn鈥檛 want it to end.)

I've said with the last few books in this series that I don't find it lives up to their previous series. Even though I had high hopes for this one it was by far the worst.
I didn't find any humor in it. The sex scenes were rushed and fell flat. The ending was abrupt.

Oliver got 3 stars in this book.
That's it.
Lola was selfish. She missed a deadline prior to even hooking up with Oliver then puts them in "pause" because she's over whelmed. It just didn't add up.

Add to that the offensive autism joke, I was done.
Not sure how that got past editors. It takes a lot to offend me. However with the high number of autistic children in our country (mine being one) I find it ridiculous to even compare a hangover to what a autistic child feels.

5 "Christina Lauren is my choice of drug" Stars
Oliver leans close, mouth sliding up my neck to my ear. "Well, I dont think I've ever loved anyone quite like this. In this sort of giddy, obliterating game-changing way. Where I can see myself with her for the rest of my life."

I know that I sound like a broken record but Christina Lauren are my #1 favorite contemporary authors. There's something about their writing that speaks to my own personal preference. I said that in another review as well but everyone has that author and me for it's Christina and Lauren. There's a giddiness and happiness and anticipation I get reading the words they've written. For me it's a sure to be a great ride. It's also no secret that I love their men characters.

If you've read this series then we finally finally get Lola and Oliver's story. And let me just say that it lives up to the hype that I've anticipated about them.

CL does a great job giving us the full story. I've always wondered what happened with these two during that Vegas trip. I was stunned to learn that she offered to be with him and he turned her down. WHOA! But we get Oliver's POV here (so nice!!!) and we learn that he didn't do it because he wanted something more lasting and less sordid. "I knew she wasn't one-night-stand material. Lola was the kind of girl I could lose my mind for."

What ensues is months and months of longing but also a one of a kind friendship develops. They have their friends but Lola and Oliver have a special bond and understanding. They share confidences, history, interests. "...Became sort of a perfect friendship. Oliver doesn't judge, doesn't mock, he doesn't push. He doesn't mind my quiet moods, where all I want to do is bend over a scrap of paper and draw." The authors made sure that this friendship, this bond was very well established and from that bond came love.

Oliver owns a comic book store and Lola is a comic book writer and illustrator.
What's more perfectly fitted than two nerds that connect on a whole other level than they connect with other people. Oliver truly is patient and sweet and understanding and knows Lola so well. "She looks at me in a way she doesn't look at anyone else, but that could be meaningful only because I am her closes male friend, and have carefully, intentionally cultivated her trust. Trust is key with Lola. She closes down if she feels inspected, clams up if pushed. It's a delicate, slow process..." There are many passages that portrays Oliver's love and understand of who Lola is.

We get both Lola and Oliver's POV so we feel Lola's yearning and we're also privy to Oliver's affection.

Oliver is a standout, fabulous, sweet, sensitive, sensual hero. The sweetness gushes out of him. The longing, the desire, the connection between Lola and Oliver was written so ardently, so touchingly, so admirably.
"I've wanted this for months. And I know you feel the same. I love you. I feel you thinking it every time I say it, in the way your hands find some part of me to hold on to."

Lola is in the beginnings of a career hurricane. Her comics are best sellers and are being turned into movies. She's overwhelmed and that's where the conflict lays. I thought the conflict was frustrating - definitely - I wanted to shake Lola- but Christina Lauren does an admirable job explaining both sides. The underlying issues have a realism to them that isn't over the top ridiculous. They frustrate but are understandable.
"I want to be near Oliver every second. I'm not sure I can do the dance of balance yet; I want every particle of him touching every particle of me."
"Because it's like my creativity shuts off when it's an option. I don't want to work when I'm with him."

And of course, Christina Lauren has been known to bring on some heat! And those moments were blistering hot!!!
Like when he lets her draw him. OH FUCKING MY!!!

"I'd want you begging for my mouth every time we're alone. And I'd give it to you, Lola. I would suck the pleasure straight out of you; I wouldn't toy with you. If I could get you there I would, whenever you want it. I want to be so good you never let me go."

So if you're in the mood to read about two sexy but gentle nerds whose demeanor are both sexy and gentle, strong and sweet, careful and wanting, but also both head over heels in love and perfect for each other then you have read to about Loliver!

"Your love is branded on my brain; yours is
still the only kiss I want."

Hot nerd alert! Hot nerd alert! Fuck me <=I never say that vulgar word. But seriously, fuuuuccckkkk mmmeeeee! How is it even remotely possible to like this so much more than the other books, when I loved them so much? How? I'll give you one word: OLIVER. Sigh... What more do I even have to say to convince you to read this? Seriously, WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

If you haven't read these books yet then I honestly think you're a wacko *gives you serious side-eye*. Finn and Harlow were my favorite and I didn't think anything would top that. That is until I fully got to be inside Lola and Oliver's head. It's like Christina Lauren reached into my mind and heart and put it all down in paper and into a book. Alas, I can't draw worth a crap, but I am nerdy.

Lola and Oliver are the only ones who didn't follow the flow and end up married like their friends. If you remember from the first book, three best girlfriends met some hot men and what do you know, they all get drunk and get married. Of course, Oliver and Lola got it annulled right away then on their merry way. When they meet back up in San Diego where Oliver owns a comic shop, the two become close. As in best friend territory.

As in friend zone. But Lola wants more. What she doesn't know or can't see is that Oliver wants her just as bad. Timing is everything though. Lola is hitting it big time with a movie deal for her graphic novel. Top that plus deadlines for another book, plus a whole lot of other crap, well let's just say, it can be pretty overwhelming. Oliver is Lola's rock; always there for her whether it be an ear to listen to, just hanging out, or bring an automatic plus one to events.

What happens when lines start to blur? Are the two willing to sacrifice a beautiful friendship for something that may not end up working out? Will Lola ever ever learn to open up? There was so much sexy, so much awesome, and so much beautiful angst that I couldn't help but get butterflies the whole time I was reading. Oliver has a dirty, dirty mouth on him. Sigh... He's my favorite and that's saying something. I feel so bad saying that considering I thought it couldn't get any better than Finn.

Overall, it's no secret that I love these authors. Not only are they the sweetest, their books and writing have grown so much since the very first book they published. I HIGHLY recommend all of their books.

I began this series on the wrong foot, but as the books were released, I realized that they deserved a chance.. The first book wasn't a hit for me, I didn't understand it and was on fast forward on the majority of the pages. The second one was ok, and the third one was it!!!! Wow!!!

I have a weakness for nerdy hot heroes, and Oliver managed to keep me quite satisfied on all levels!! He was smart, nerdy hot, very passionate about everything he did and loved Lola so much. Lola on the other hand wasn't a big hit for me, I wanted her to realize they are more important things that your career and just give Oliver a chance, to accept him and let him in. I admired her for her talent and dedication when it came to work and her passion for graphic comics, but she sucked at relationships! I wanted to strangle her for not seeing Oliver and facing that she deserves happiness, that love isn't a distraction to her goals, but a way of achieving them.

Their moments were hot and passionate and everyone could figure out how good they are together!!
Oliver is my favorite boy from this series and talking from a subjective POV I love him so much!!! Nerd, geek or whatever I considered him HOT and sexy and sweet and with a lot of patience for our girl Lola. I have to admit that after reading the first book of the series I wasn't so into it, but now Oliver managed to change my mind. The story was original but a little predictable.

Did I mentioned that 90% of the book was read due to Oliver?:D

If it were possible to be in a romantic relationship with a novel, I would marry Dark Wild Night. In fact, I鈥檇 happily participate in a m茅nage 脿 quatre with the entire Wild Seasons series. Does that make me weird? If so, I careth not!

The series follows three post-grad besties. They enjoy one absolutely wild night in Las Vegas with three strangers who happen to be best bros and foreigners. We鈥檝e been treated to Mia/Ansel and Harlow/Finn鈥檚 love stories. Now it鈥檚 Lola and Oliver鈥檚 turn.

Oliver is an Australian comic book owner now living in California, and Lola is a creator and illustrator of comics. She is passionate about two things: her work and Oliver. Oliver is simply passionate about Lola. These two wonderfully co-dependent nerds are the closest of friends who are clearly meant to be more. However, they鈥檝e stuck themselves in the friend zone for various reasons.

Oliver is adorable and more than a little bit naughty. I loved his ability to read Lola鈥檚 thoughts and emotions. He always knows just how to patiently support her, even as her career takes off and her insecurities mount. I appreciated Lola鈥檚 big heart, flaws, and her unique brand of crazy.

This story is overflowing with affection and chock full of wit, tension, and passion. It鈥檚 a pure delight.

I was a Christina Lauren newbie prior to this series, and I really hope this writing duo鈥檚 other books are just as good because I freaking adore them. I crave more. More, I tell you! Hold up. I鈥檝e now read all three couples鈥 love stories. There鈥檚 nobody left, right? Well, it turns out that Mia鈥檚 anti-romance roommate, London, has her own book. *runs to the library*

Audiobook Review:
Shayna Thibodeaux voiced the previous audiobooks in the series, and once again her narration is spectacular. She deserves a standing ovation for her delivery, timing, and impeccable Australian accent. Steve West is equally phenomenal with his rich vocal performance. I could listen to him say, 鈥淟ola Love,鈥 for days with that sexy Aussie accent. Drool. I love how both narrators distinctively embody the various characters, breathing life into them with an abundance of warmth. I count Shayna and Shane among my favorite narrators.

- Started to wish Oliver was gay at 16%
- Found out about Not-Joes cock piercing at 27%,
- Wished Not-Joe was gay too at 27%
- Realized there is so future for them, therefore DNF at 72%

That made me come to the conclusion that Oliver would be better off with Not-Joe and not with Lola.
And here are the reasons (Ranty review and spoilers ahead):

Not-Joe wouldn't act insecure without having a good reason. Unlike Lola. I couldn't figure out the reason for her insecurities.. and don't tell me about her mom, she still had a loving daddy right? My advice for Lola:

I know guys are known for being immature, especially Not-Joe. But I rather have a funny and immature Not-Joe than a 23 year old Lola with the mental age of 15 year old. Lolas POV made me feel like I was reading the (comic)diary of a high schooler.

Not-Joe wouldn't whisper so much, unless he is sitting in a movie theater. Lola on the other hand whispers all the time when she is feeling insecure again for no reason.

Not-Joe would communicate with Oliver and talk about his feelings from the get-go. Communication seems like a man-thing in books. Because Oliver was willing to talk about his feelings too. It was Lola who would rather take a phone call and talk about comics after that. True story :D

Not-Joe doesn't need a constant reminder to breath. That's something you can't tell Lola often enough apparently. Lola breathe here, Lola breathe there..

Do you want me to record it for you, so you can listen to it all the time?

Not-Joe wouldn't be afraid to fuck their relationship up because he is too busy working or because he said something wrong. Unlike Lola who thinks a good girlfriend is always available and never says the wrong with.

Unlike Lola, Not-Joe wouldn't play with Olivers feelings.

Not-Joe knows that you cant hit "pause" in a relationship because your life is too busy, but thats not Lolas opinion. I hope Lola and Oliver don't decide to have kids, because having kids is the busiest job of all. Does Lola know that you cant break up with your babies? Somebody should tell her..

Not-Joe would think about the condom on their first time :D but that happens so often, not even I care anymore.

Last but not least: Not-Joe has a cock ring.

Finally Oliver's story!! The HOTTIE-comic-book-store-owner!
I loved it.
So cute and adorable and SEXY!!!!!!!
I especially love the location: San Diego!
It takes Lola and Oliver a while to get it right - but that's to be expected... I wish the book would've had another 200 pages - there was still so much Hollywood-stuff and Oliver-history to talk about...
But it was perfect the way it was.
Lots of Ansel and Finn too - and I guess we'll get to see Luke as London's guy in the next book. 鈽

Christina Lauren鈥檚 books are well-paced, steamy, easy to read. This latest installment is no exception. That said, the story failed to pull me in after a few chapters. It lacked excitement and on top of that, the development of friend-to-lover relationship between Oliver and Lola seemed pretentious.

Do I think they are a perfect match?? Not really.

Lola did annoy me. I mean I would not high-five her. Despite Oliver was one heck of a gentleman, I don鈥檛 think the author provided any depth to his characterization other than being...extremely nice and understanding to Lola. In some part, reading their dialogue was like skimming through those books about how to balance work with love life. Plus, the geeky angle didn鈥檛 appeal to me much. It is not my favorite book by the authors, but is still better than the previous installment with Finn/Harlow.

鈥淚t is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.鈥

The story:

Lola & Oliver are friends ever since their trip to Vegas.. when they were married for a few hours. Creating a bond between them they became close friends, who shares the same geek feelings, humour and passion about comics and etc. They obvisouly have feelings for each other but saving their friendship and also fear of only one side feelings is preventing them to take one more step and be more than friends.
The chemistry they share became too much for them. They give into temptation to be together, but too many things were on Lola's head because of her upcoming movie, her due dates, deadlines and new found obssesion over Oliver .

She took a step back and it break his heart..
Is his love enough for her to let him in? Is he willing to forgive and take her back?

DON'T WORRY IT'S NOT THAT DRAMATIC!

My thoughts:

Well, Wild Seasons series is not my fave and I didn't expect to LOVE this book but I sure expected more, not the things I am feeling right now!
I didn't connect with the story or with the characters ( something is wrong with me these days....) and the story was too slow for me.
Lola wasn't likeble heroine for me! She seemd like she didn't know how to communicate, how to work or how to be in a relationship (the last is understable but still..). I didn't like her desicions, mostly about everything. I get it that when you world turns upside down and you are overwhelmed it is hard indeed but still you need to stop and think for a minute! She was childish, her inner monologues were all messy for me. Her sort of innocent wasn't cute for me. She just pissed me of!
( #SorryNotSorry )

Oliver was really sweet and sexy. He tried to understand her desicions, always supports her and help her. He was BEAST in the bed and can make you hot and bothered with his words easily!

I found him far more likeble character than Lola's .
He was so sure about his love and feelings and I was so sorry for him when things went down!

鈥淚 loved you before last night. I鈥檒l love you tomorrow鈥

Overall if it wasn't Not-Joe or the gang this book would have been ever more boring to me. Perhaps I needed more or the writing wasn't good for me. The story is cute and funny at parts and I hope more people will relate to it!

FOUR POINT FIVE STARS

I really enjoyed these two nerds. We first meet them in and since that initial meeting I've been shipping these two. They're one of my favorite nerd couples.

Dark Wild Night was the right mix of nerdiness and tension as they figure out how to be together despite other obligations. Now there's one more book in this series - Perry's story. I'm looking forward to seeing how his story plays out.

SERIES:

1 - Ansel | 2 - Finn | 3 - Oliver | 4 - Perry

Novella:

(#1.5)
Don't forget to check out the novella that tells Ansel's point of view of the morning after. It's an audio for $1.95->
