Now the Imogen series, Captured, Corrupted, Conflicted, and Claimed can be read all together in one box set with BONUS FEATURES. This dark romance series follows the story of Imogen, who is captured and taken prisoner by the enemy on her wedding night as their war spoils.
Imogen is chosen by a high-ranking official, Erik, to serve him in every way. Controlling and compassionate at once, Erik warns her that in order to remain as safe as possible, he must learn her, her body, and instruct her on how to obey him, for her own good.
As her fate begins to overwhelm her, Erik wastes no time in the beginning stages to teach Imogen what she must learn to survive. His warnings of ominous consequences if she does not obey linger unrevealed, and both Imogen and Erik fight to remain in control of themselves and their emotional pull to one another.
Imogen's confusion grows, her feelings claiming and overwhelming her, feelings of lust and jealousy and anger and maybe even love for Erik. Claimed as his own, Erik tries to protect Imogen, but when another captive is put under his watch, Imogen realizes she doesn't really know Erik at all. And her defiance could cost her harm or worse--her life.
R.B. O’Brien has always been drawn to the more taboo side of storytelling, even as a young adult, from hiding books from strict Catholic parents as a teen to getting lost in the erotic sections of bookstores for hours.
She is best known for her three published erotic romances, Thorne, Edge of Torment and Imogen. But she is now forging a name for herself in the New Adult Romance category as well as poetry, her true passion, Ruin My Lipstick her first of many to come.
Much of O'Brien's work explores the darker, sensual nature of relationships, those riddled with the reality of insecurities and human folly, often exposing the vulnerability, emotional turmoil, and occasional pain that can come from losing oneself in the heat of passion and the obstacles of love.
O'Brien holds a degree in English literature and teaches for a living in the Northeast, USA. She is the founding member of The Nu Romantics, a poet, a professor, a writer, a dancer, and a hopeful romantic known for her poetry prompts on social media. O’Brien also has a profound affection for Shakespeare and beyond that, writes. Every chance she gets.
I have so many questions - This is almost an instant- love story -Captor and captive - I feel like I am missing something - It is either a war-torn country or world - and they are either different races or different I don't know There are so many references that lead me to so many different directions The two main characters are descriptive and do play off each other well - the secondary that have been introduced so far are quite the narcissists There is just so much going on it seems just beyond my reach as a reader - I am hoping to get my answers in the next set of books Definitely 18+ due to dubious consent Available in Kindle unlimited
This was absolutely amazing. Such an enjoyable read and I cannot wait til the story concludes. The story is very traumatic and material unpleasant but there is a soft side to informs' captor. He too is a victim of the war and has o follow all the rules from his fellow soldiers. This was the first book I had read by the author and look forward to reading many more
What a great book set. The plot is like nothing I have read before - very unique and this set has an awesome plot to go along with the steam which there is a lot of! Just an all around great read. If you like domination in your books, you found it!
Not my favorite read by the author. Imogen is very innocent and doesn't understand the reaction her body is having to the events around her, or to Erik. Erik is hard on her, in a backward protective way. Leaves a lot of unanswered questions.
Thorne: The Series, by R.B. O'Brien. This is the single-book compilation of Rosemary O'Brien's trilogy which comprises Thorne: Rose's Dark Contract, Thorne: Rose's Dark Secret, and Thorne: Rose's Dark Awakening. As a single book, it is stunning.
I originally bought the three books separately. Now they are together in one volume I can only say that reading it left me breathless, and that it is the single most sustained erotic novel I have ever read. Yes, I have read many erotic authors, but none of them comes close to the real passion that flames from the pages of this book.
Some erotic authors write to titillate, some because it seems called for in the plot. Many of them write just for sexual exploitation because sex sells. But virtually none of them write with the true sexual passion and romance of Rosemary O'Brien.
She calls this book a dark romance, and it certainly has its bleak moments. But even at its most difficult it breathes passion and love, though it starts as an anti-love story.
William Thorne is a wealthy, emotionally damaged businessman who wants nothing to do with love or romance. He keeps his life in balance by hiring personal assistants on contract not only to tend to his business affairs, but to provide him with submissive feminine companionship.
He is a sexually active dominant male who demands complete obedience, and while he is willing to pay handsomely for such services he has no desire to become romantically involved with anyone. His blighted childhood taught him the lesson that involvement means real pain.
That is until he meets down-on-her-luck waitress Victoria Rose, aka Rose Wellington. He becomes obsessed with her beauty and submissive nature and cannot stop himself from offering her a PA contract, even though he does not follow his own rules to thoroughly check out the background of his hire.
There follows an agonizing sequence of on-again off-again sexual encounters that lead him deeper and deeper into questioning his own real nature, and lead the reader through sex scenarios hot enough to scorch the pages of the book.
I simply do not know how Rosemary (the author) can sustain such continuous erotic writing. I enormously admire her talent, and dwell wonderingly on the love scenes she has created for her protagonists. The novel may be dark, but it never falls into the bleak chasm of despair, though there are truly despairing moments.
If you are, like me, a fan of erotic literature, this book is a must for your library. And Rosemary O'Brien is an author whose other work you should look into. You will not be disappointed.
Merged review:
Imogen: A Dystopian Romance, by Rosemary O'Brien.
Well . . . Gasp . . . I started reading Thorne by Rosemary then decided I wanted to know more about the author so looked her up on Amazon. There I discovered a boxed set of Imogen at a very reasonable price and curiously decided to have a fast look at the first book in thé three-book series
Now, four hours later after one of the hottest and most breathlessly sexy reads I have experienced in a long time (and I thought Thorne was hot) I have finished the first book in the series--and there's two more to go! Rosemary, where have you been all my erotic life!? The sexual misadventures of Imogen as a virgin captured as spoils in a brutal war and trained by a stern but compassionate master left me not only breathless but wondering if this aged heart could stand any more of it.
So here I am at midnight ready to go on to the next book and knowing that if I do I'll never get to sleep. Reluctantly I must leave Imogen sleeping snugly in the strong arms of her master and go to bed. But never fear. I shall return!
R.B. O'Brien does it again!! This is a fantastic series. Right from the start you are pulled into the story with her unique writing skills. You get swept away on an emotional journey. The sex scenes, are vivid and highly erotic. I loved it.
Imogen, is a spoil of war, she is innocent and emotional. She finds it difficult to hide her emotions. She finds herself being chosen as a slave to do the bidding of her master. Erik, sets out to teach her the rules of being a slave and training her to please him. At times, he is harsh and unfeeling. But then at moments, he is tender. I wanted to dislike him, but as the story unfolds, I liked him. They are both in a situation they are forced into. However, he tries to protect Imogen from harm, the only way he knows how to.
I'm sure as the story continues to unfold in the next part, Erik and Imogen will have more explosive sex scenes and he will contine to protect her the best he can? But can he protect her from his fellow soldiers who want her??
If you enjoy a darker erotic read, I highly recommend this series.
Taken on her wedding night Imogen was given to her captures by her husband he was given a choice and he gave her up. After a week all the women who had been taken were lined up and chosen by a solider as his reward. He tells her that women had no rights and hopes she comes to enjoy her new life, as he is telling her he won't hurt her she is still bound and naked. Imogen is a spoil of war women are nothing and are just slaves, though she appears to have had a lucky escape as her master seems kind, is he? I really enjoyed this book it is a short read but recommended
