“Oh, Melody, you’re so fucked. Luckily for you, you’re about to get fucked even harder.
“Yesterday was an introduction, he snapped. “Today…today, baby, I’m marking you as mine.
“I wanted him to kiss me. Kiss me hard and soft all at once, a kiss that’d assure me that I wasn’t crazy for discovering what I’d just discovered on this tattered sofa in this tiny apartment. That I was in love with my student.
“He opened my mouth with his tongue and devoured me like I was his fucking last meal. His tongue attacked mine, owning my mouth, licking every part and swallowing my needy grunts.

Who was the grown-up here? Who was corrupting who?I LOVE forbidden love stories, and after reading Vicious I was excited to see there was a novella about teacher Melody Greene, and her student, Jaime Followhill.
"Laters Baby........."
I am a big fan of L.J. Shen's work and so I loved reading the "Sinners of Saint" series. In light of her new series 'All Saints High" almost coming out, I figured I would do a re-read of all the books so everything is fresh in my mind. Now imagine my surprise (read: shock) when I found out I never read Jamie's story !!! I just don't understand how this happened !!
Of course, when I found out (a few hours ago), I put everything else aside and fixed the error of my ways... Normally I would be thankful this was a short story, but we are talking "HotHoles" here and so I was just sad when I was finished so soon.
Since I already read every book in this series, I knew exactly who Jaime was and that Melody was his former teacher. I was so happy to finally find out how they got together...better late than never ;)
It was sooo good. Melody is a 26-year-old English Lit teacher at All Saints High. This makes her 8 years older than the "Hotholes", who are all in one of her classes. And somewhere along the way she has caught the attention of one of them specifically... Jamie ...
Melody isn't really happy with her job. She is trying to teach a bunch of privileged kids, who make it a mission not to listen to anything she says. To make matters worse, the principal of the school, who is also Jamie's mother, is a cold-hearted bitch seemingly trying to get her fired. Not that being a teacher was ever her dreamjob...she wanted to be a dancer, but life isn't always fair.
You know what also isn't fair....One of your students trying to blackmail you for sex because you wrecked his car Jamie makes it perfectly clear what it is he wants from Melody. I just don't think it really classifies as blackmail ...since she seems to want it just as much.
I loved these two. This book was definitely a bit on the lighter side compared to all the others. Melody's inner voice was hilarious and she really is "my kind of girl". I can understand why Jamie wanted her so badly. That said...Jamie was pretty freaking awesome himself !!
I can't wait for "Pretty Reckless" to get here. I know Daria is gonna be the heroine and she is Jamie and Melody's daughter. I am sure she will be just as awesome as her parents.
Highly recommended
This one worked. Every aspect of the "forbidden" relationship was written perfectly. Ever since reading Sparrow, I've come to realize LJ's writing style works for me. There's hardly any flowery prose and the Hs are usually Alphas with a capital A!
From reading the blurb I knew what to expect, I got much more however, and the story- as short as it was- never felt contrived or lacking.
Jamie is 18, a senior in high school while Melody at 26, is his- almost inept- teacher. Jamie was cocky (18, rich and good looking. Who could blame him?) and self-assured but was never an asshat. He fell for Melody, waited to make his move and once he did, things got heated quickly. Sure they had some missteps along the way but they get a HEA and then some. Additionally, I liked how LJ gave us more insight into Vicious. All in all, a fab read. Highly recommend!
"Doing this was almost begging to get caught."
"I like the chase. You make me sweat somewhere besides a football field. Turns out...that's the exercise I've been looking for."Melody Greene is a young teacher who has found herself in the heart of an affluent community full of sexually charged hot young men. Despite her best efforts to stay on the straight and narrow, she has attracted the attention of one of her students. Jaime Followhill is one of the infamous HotHoles. Jaime is no stranger to getting what he wants, and he wants Melody. When the teacher and student find themselves alone together, the lines are quickly blurred, and the attraction between them quickly transforms into a lasting love.
"It's still forbidden."Told in dual POV, Defy is utter perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the sexy banter between Melody and Jaime. The stakes are high as they fall more in love with each other. The supporting characters enhance the plot as the HotHoles establish their ruthless reputation at the school and in the community. Melody is a perfect match for Jaime. The teacher/student trope is not normally my favorite forbidden romance pick, and yet, I am completely captivated by the characters, conflicts, and every single passionate moment in Defy. I am so thoroughly in love with Jaime and Melody, and their romance is one that I will never forget! This novella is just one sweet taste of the plot, characters, and relationships in this series and I cannot wait for more of this world! With this author, more greatness is sure to follow!
... you’re so fucked. Luckily for you, you’re about to get fucked even harder.
“Is it true that you will always be mine?
“It’s a truth. And sometimes, when you piss me off, it’s a dare. But it’s my life, and you’re a part of it. Always and forever.
