Short but sweet! One of my favorites in this January book binge/sprint for personal improvement and surgery preparations. I am now more encouraged to take more visual notes and incorporate it in my freestyle calligraphy activities. I am glad this was recommended to me by Amazon as part of my Kindle Unlimited trial. The author writes in a simple and engaging manner. Books don’t need to be overly complex to make the necessary impact and positive change to its readers.
I am a left brainer and less creative person but it is easy to remember long format notes when they are much more fun. This laid out proper foundation for make notes more artistic and creative rather than just a boring facts and figures. Compilation of stuff and basics is done in such a way any one literally anyone can learn these and in the end it laid out some exercises for further practice which helped me alot and i have already started making notes in the way. Great stuff and totally recommended especially for left Brainers like me.
Great book on sketchnoting and getting started.. Recommend if you would like to get started.. Author starts with basics then moves to advanced.. The format is on what you need to do and the courage to do it...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was just what I was looking for. I didn't want to get in too deep as I am a writer and drawing has never come naturally to me. However, I have become intrigued with the idea of sketchnoting and I just wanted some basics. This was the perfect book for that. It lays it out clearly without being overwhelming, and I assure you, I am easily overwhelmed, lol. Yet I found it full of meat that satisfied my need to know how this works and what it looks like and all the options. This book is definitely worth getting and I highly recommend it!
What I would like to see next would be a book specifically on how to turn written notes into sketchnoting. If I had a page of notes from a podcast, what would that look like as sketchnoting? I have the idea in theory now but when it comes to actually taking good notes using sketchnoting, I don't quite know how to make that leap.
Good introduction to the concepts. A bit light on content.
As the title suggests, the book provides a good, light introduction to those who are not familiar with the concept and is a good starting point for students or professionals who are not sure about thinking visually. The concepts covered are foundational and should be thought of as a starter guide. Bonus points for the worksheets
Excellent book on sketch noting. The figures he introduced are simple and are easily to replicate. I followed up this book with The Doodle Revolution by Sunni Brown. While I have a lot of ground to cover before I can claim to be a sketch noter, book likes these help us in overcoming the fear paralysis.
This is a simple a basic introduction to the concept of sketchnoting. If you want more depth, you will need to move on to more detailed material, but this is a good start.
I would have liked more examples of the different ways you can use sketching and maybe some examples of how to draw things or links to good places for drawing references .
I was looking for something to give me some structure to my approach to sketchnoting, instead I got a set of icons to learn to draw. Not really quite what it says on the tin unfortunately ... friendly, accessible and a quick read though.
Nothing much or new than 2min YouTube video can do.
Nothing much or new than 2min YouTube video can do. The author did not drill down with examples of note taking or steps to do so. Just listing the tools and icons does not add much, to me at least.
Rally simple, clear and generous with sharing tips
Thanks, this was a great, practical and straightforward read, for someone who has practice it and has so much to learn. It’s an easy and fun read. Highly recommend it!
If you can practice this everyday you will have a skill which everyone around from kids to grandma will enjoy. Wonderful book. I recommend everyone to read it and develop this skill.
This is a quick and useful guide. I am a visual thinker and I have always used these techniques. So, I can vouch for the approach provided by this author.
