I read this book up to 30% and it failed to grab my interest. The book is not bad but it could use a lot of improvements, such as its prose. However, what made me stopped reading were three things: the way the story was narrated, the lack of an engaging plot and the flat interactions between characters.
First, the story felt like it was summaries of events being told like in book report. Second, the plot is fairly boring and for the 30% that I read, there weren't anything exciting to look forward to. Even the demon attack or the character being captured felt stale because it was so easily solved. Finally, the interactions between characters are severely bland. I couldn't develop to care for them because they didn't feel solid enough (and plain boring).
For example, the male companions were just summarized with their appearance and what they did or do. Then the girls were just quickly described as one dark brown hair, one blonde, and both look "beautiful." But how were they beautiful? They did have big eyes, sharp noses, fair skin, and slender shape? But none were provided. Then we're also told that one of them is snobbish. But, how was she snobbish? Show us what she says or do that makes her so. Write interactions and dialogues between the girls and the guys to show us this. Instead, the readers are left with these vague descriptions and summaries of events.
I can see where the plot is going and I do want to enjoy it but unfortunately, I just got bored and the last thing that were holding my interests were the characters. But, that also failed because I couldn’t see the author improving in character interactions to make me care for them anymore.
