This is the fifth book in the 8-part Terraway series, which is based in Filipino folklore.
With Team Terraway separated in too many directions, October doesn’t know who needs help the most. With Von being held as leverage, and half the group traipsing through cannibal territory to deliver the stone to Lumipad to save the Ekeks and Manas, October experiments with dangerous new methods of trying to communicate with the missing parties. When the rescue doesn’t go as planned, October finds herself inches from death, until she’s swept up in the arms of the one man she knows she shouldn’t trust.
USA Today bestselling author Mary E. Twomey lives in Michigan with her three adorable children. She enjoys reading, writing, vegetarian cooking, and telling her children fantastic stories about wombats.
While she loves writing fantasy, dystopian, and paranormal tales for her readers, Mary also writes romance under the name Tuesday Embers.
Wake up, October! Stop pining over the dude who is obviously unreliable and bolts every chance he gets! Give the other dude a chance, he is obviously a better, albeit less flamboyant and flashy, man! Is it me, or has the author used an obviously gay dude as her friend and then as an afterthought decided to make him a love interest, but he still has all the gay dude plusses and minuses? Yes, I have always had that gay besty with whom I have felt most relaxed and have had no physical inhibitions with, doing all types of stuff I would never even think about doing with a straight dude, and this is what October and Von's relationship felt like in the beginning... But now it just got ruined with all the romantic stuff thrown in. I feel bad for October, since she has this stunted way she approaches all more intimate relationships, and now she is thrown in with people she has no other choice but to be intimate with, and this is really screwing with her perception of what is what... And then, to further complicate things, the revelation at the end of the book just came out of nowhere! WTH????! I can't wait to see if my suspicions are right...
This has been my least favourite book in this series. I've been giving solid 5 stars reviews for the first 4 novels, however, I found this novel tedious and actually skimmed portions.
The first portion maintained the general pace of the series, but then went into a slump for the middle portion. I really didn't need more detail regarding October's relationship with Finn. I didn't find her actions either convincing nor within the core features of October's OCD condition. The ongoing nature of her relationship with Finn bogged down the momentum with too much analysis, too much detail and much too lengthy.
The novel picked up again, after what felt like a mere distraction. The final segment of the book picked up pace returning to the actual grist of the series. Let's hope the next novel improves and continues with the tale of Terraway.
Unless there's a radical change in events, this is not a reverse harem series. I'm not sure why that's in the title and I really DON'T want it to become a reverse harem series. There are plenty of those romances out there that I've enjoyed & will enjoy reading but this doesn't need to be one. =P
I could only give this 3 stars because I am getting very frustrated with October.
She started out really fun and smart and was a girl I could relate to. I liked her but in this book not so much. She has just admitted that she is in love with Von and he returned the feelings YAY - then they both get scared and run away from what is destined to be a wonderful relationship.
Enter the sneaky Finn - who rescues October from yet another faction who seeks her power just for themselves but rather than taking her home he whisks her away to his underwater mermaid palace where he gets inside her head, seduces her and although she keeps resisting him prevents her from going home to fix things with Von.
I found this book the most creepy so many people are trying to capture October and I think Finn was doing the same thing just with way more subterfuge than everyone else.
Thankfully Von turns up and helps take her home and then they start acting like stupid kids again instead of two people who are madly in love with each other.
Oh and the baby thing - if it is real so not going to be Von's - remember dream dude philip who I bet is rely the evil wizard - yup bet the kid is his. Somehow. even though she is a virgin.
I hope this series takes an upturn soon because book 5 was a slump.
So let me clear this up. This is book 5 in the Terraway series and while October has kissed multiple men, she’s not really been in actual relationships with any of them and definitely not at the same time. Furthermore what happens in this book leads me to believe that October doesn’t see herself in a harem but honestly three to me isn’t really a harem but more like a quad. But even so, the hare I hear doesn’t happen until book 9, the last book. So I don’t even get to see them grow.
I’m this book a lot happens soooooo much happens and I was actually able to see some breadcrumbs show up and be accurate about them this time. Though I still don’t see what or how this is going to go down.
Most of the book is spent with Finn and playing house, she barely reaps, and I found it odd she’d stay with him as long as she did. Didn’t realize the problem would take so long to be resolved.
Finns a good dude so far aside from that first smack a while back, he’s been great. I honestly like him better than Mason or Von. I’m not happy with Von in this book. He keeps jerking October around. It’s not cool. Mason too. Only Finn in this book has been there for October.
Overall I still don’t know how the series will tie up and that’s why I’m in it still. I want to know what happens.
I'm still asking myself where did I get to this point? I haven't thought I'd rate anything from this series with such blazing fury and disappointment but here I am...doing the exact thing. But can you blame? Stupidity is indeed contagious. Yep, dumbasses all the way even the heroine whom I respected so much from the past four books. four freaking books and i get a whiplash for all the things that changed when it comes to October. What endeared me to her first and foremost was her funny povs. but i didn't see/read anything funny from her in this read. then there's her attitude, which is a complete 180 degree turn. she went from understanding and kind and smart to i'm holier than thou and unfair and just plain stupid. I can't just connect any of the previous October mementos to this October right now. It's so freaking frustrating and disappointing. Let's not even get me started on how she lets herself be mistreated and be walked over by mason and von yet does the exact thing to finn. Wtf dude, not cool! I have a lot of things to rant about but everything's pretty much a jumbled mess right now. I even have to take two days off this read, distract myself from completely dnf-ing this one even if i am already past half the read, just so i can get myself a breather. UGH. i'm just so freaking angry, it's so sad
PS I think it's true when people said that emotionally stunted characters playing the in love card are boring what with their unnecessary and totally overplayed drama
This one turned out to be gory. It was slightly disturbing but I was also glad the author wasn't scared enough to delve into the darker parts of the story. Also, get ready to fall in love with Captain Finn. I completely dislike Von and he does not deserve her. He's selfish and immature even though he supposedly is the father figure to the rest of his siblings. It just does not correlate with his actions. Finn on the other hand is giving and allows October to be strong. He encourages her and wants her to be herself while also vowing to be with her every step of the way. He actually fights to be deserving of her, it's just what she needs. Just hope she smartens up and picks him and gets over her little infatuation with Von. Happy reads everyone!!
I got this as an ARC and it was great as I expected. I really like this series and this book had some interesting twists. Of course, there's Finn and Von and as with Twomey's series Undraland, I want the lead to desperately end up with the one she's not "as in love" with. Ugh Finn in this book melted my heart and my heart broke along with his. And Von... he didn't even start to win back his charm before he runs off again. Not to mention the twist which may link them even further. I know it won't legit happen but I'll keep hoping there's a way for Finn. I'm not so patiently awaiting the next book!

Ahh yes, the beginning of the terrible end. This is the book where it all starts to fall apart. This book is actually a 4.5 out of 5, but out of respect and love for the series, I decided to go up a star instead of down, however for the rest of the remaining books, I gave a 4 star or less rating.
However, don’t be scared and just stop reading, as I’m sure you are too deep into the world of Terraway to stop anyway. Overall the series is a 4/5 stars so. One hint, which in a way is a bit of a spoiler, don’t get too attached to anyone.
I couldn't get enough of this series!!! Just finished binge reading all 9.
The story was so captivating and the characters were people you honestly felt connected to. It's not often that you really get sucked in the world an author creates like I did for Terraway.
I think my favorite thing about the whole series is that you never know what is going to come around the corner. Surprises left and right. You think you know which way the story is headed and it veers off.
I'm going to miss girl October and all the men. 🥰
The excitement and astonishing developments continue to play out right in front of the reader's eyes as October's life is once again in peril from a savage and brutal enemy. The characters and the story continue to evolve into something beyond ordinary. This tale is so engrossing that I don't want to miss one minute finding out how things will turn out. What a wonderful drama - a truly unforgettable book!!!!!:)
Steamy kisses with a man whose soft side only you see, near death experiences, holding the love of your life's baby brother while he dies in your arms, loosing a new friend, finding out your basically the virgin Mary, healing waters, suducing royalty to kill them, and dead moms geez! This book really brought the drama! Annddd not to mention your baby daddy running out thinking you cheated before the virgin Mary news!

This had more of a love triangle feel. But 3 guys are in love with the heroine but she is only in love with one. Which isn't what I understand an RH to be.
This book hit me in the feels, lots of tears spent on this book. Loved the description of the new world we saw in this book.
If you haven't read the others in the series start there because it is basically one long story split into 9 (I think that is the total number) books. Overall this story is really refreshing and I can't wait to see where it goes. It says it is RH and while there are quite a few men interested I don't know how this is all going to work out but I can't wait to find out.
This is book 5. If you have not read 1-4 do that first. October and Finn spend time in Dagat as things ramp up for the Omen. I loved this book. Mary E. Twomey has really brought these worlds alive for me.
Every single time I think I know where this is going I read the next chapter and realize I know nothing. The only thing I’m sure of is that there are 4 more books. My house is a mess. I should be sleeping. Yet I’m moving on to book 6.
Book 5 keeps this story moving along perfectly. October deepens some of her relationships, while others are over all too soon. I love the theme of friends so close they are family. No complaints.
Von?? Man he was on my good side for a while...smh Bev?? Sorry boo October?? I wish I could give you an island and a truck load of meds Finn??? YES PLEASE!!
So many logic problems - Completely lost the plot. October has become a wet noodle - no longer has self-control. Logic, Timelines, space - The author doesn't care.
I feel like this was the most emotional book so far. I didn't think the last book would be emotionally outdone but thanks to Mary, I was way wrong. We last ended with a cliffhanger since Von as abducted. Treat jumps right in where it left off but it doesn't end there. Be prepared for more heartbreak to come. October discovers she and Von can dream walk together, but this doesn't necessarily mean the search is any easier, and it's far from over. Ezera brings in Von's family, the best resource available to hunt down their missing brother and a strong team to continue the quest to deliver the stone to Terraway. There will be loss. There will be death. Treat is an unexpected bloodbath that tears your soul and had me surprised with every turn of the page. My only advice is to keep reading, keep breathing and look forward to the 6th installment!
You really want to read this series. It gets better with each book and I am hooked on October and her friends and family. There are always so many surprises and twists. The author is not afraid to go in tough directions.
October has really grown during the journey so far. She is taking on things that terrify her and surviving. Her emotions are harder for her to handle. She has strong feelings for Finn which are unexpected. He has really tried hard to be a better person and make up for his past. I love their time together and am not sure what role he will have in her future.
The ending is sad and scary and leaves you wanting the next part so you can see what is in store for October.
