Forks. I always took the wrong path. And by the pull I felt to this stranger, I knew this time wasn’t any different. ~Charlee

Washed up. Druggie. Alcoholic. Beauty.
All words to sum up ex-model Charlee. Charlee is the literal definition of a walking disaster- of how even the beautiful can have such a hard existence they can never escape their own destruction.

Vulnerable. Malleable.
Charlee has no idea she is within the web of a narcissistic brutal man- Scout 14. Scout 14 has been tasked with acquiring new women to bring to Whitlock and Charlee is one of his best finds yet. But like a cat playing with a mouse- Scout 14 can’t stop himself from playing with his dinner.
Although this takes place in Whitlock’s world I found the tone and edge of the story 100% different than the first two books. This one was a different kind of dark to me—atmospheric and haunting. About 100 pages of this book has left me super unsettled.

You know when you read a book about a serial killer and you find yourself looking at traits for Anti-Social Personality Disorder? I found myself looking at Scout 14 and analyzing traits of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He was a different character than I’ve read before and being in his head almost has “marked me with some gloom & doom. There was just something DIFFERENT about him compared to other men in dark books. *shudder* Get outta muh head!

Was there anything more powerful than words—than the way each story, confession, testimonial...each puzzle of perfectly fit sentences weaved a seamless picture of perception?

Words had the ability to warp a person’s mind. With added pressure to their thoughts, you could completely change their perspective. ~Scout 14

I wanted to learn what broke Charlee in the first place. I wanted to know what happened to Scout 14 at the end. I wanted to know more but in reflection, the story shines greater not knowing. It’s just the dark games and the almost paranoia inflicted from the author about some aspects of the book being ambiguous. Overall 5 stars & now I need a beer. xx

***
My personal theme song for the book -->

I'm naked and I'm hungry in my room
I'm tearing arms from deities for fun
This hell is like a holiday, with guns...

Two Gods
Bet on two Gods

I'll bring a little magic to your room
And pass to the assassin who has none
He's taking out the tyrant, for his son

WAY MORE THAN FIVE STARS!!!! A.A. Dark has an amazing mind and she is absolutely brilliant when it comes to writing in the very dark genre. I love it when an author has the writing capability to completely submerge me into their dark world and have me screaming at the end of the book, "NO, IT COULDN'T HAVE ENDED. I WANT AND NEED MORE!!!" Well that's exactly what happened with 27001( Welcome To Whitlock).
Scout 14 aka John/James is a scout for Whitlock, meaning he brings back sex slaves to be auctioned off and Charlee is his latest target. Charlee is an ex model, who now is an alcoholic and occasional drug user, who falls right into the web of lies of Scout 14.
He doesn't automatically abduct her, oh no, he meticulously creates a somewhat relationship with her and then the exhilarating mind games begin.
As a result, not only is Charlee in turmoil but so is Scout 14, who starts having feelings for her. Does he keep her or turn her over into sex slavery?
Okay, so no more info about the book. In the end who will prevail? Will it be Charlee or Scout 14? The answer is simple, just one click it and you'll find out. Alright readers, WELCOME TO WHITLOCK!!!!

Title: 27001
Author: A.A. Dark
Series: Welcome to Whitlock #1 (spin-off of 24690)
Genre: erotic suspense, horror
Themes: addiction, stalker
Heat: 4/5
Rating: 4/5

Although this is a spin-off novella from the book-hangover inducing 24690, 27001 can be read as a standalone - however, you will get more enjoyment and understanding if you've read the main duet first (which I'd absolutely recommend anyway).

Now we have that out of the way, let me get straight in: this is A.A. Dark's best work yet. The writing itself comes across as significantly more mature than her previous novels, lacking their clumsiness and rushed nature. This seems so much more planned, and is extraordinarily executed. Despite it being a novella, it really takes its time, exploring the psyches of the two lead characters. It deals with things of a very dark nature, and still retains its dark eroticism.

This is a wonderful opportunity to explore more of the workings of Whitlock, in one of my favourite fictional universes - and, frankly, the idea of this series of spin-off novellas is something that made my heart rush with excitement. And if the rest are anything like this, they will be, without a doubt, some of the highlights of 2017.

This novella explores mindfuckery, addiction and a blossoming co-dependency, with complex characterisation and a slowly unfolding plot which results in the sort of spectacularly impactful endings one expects from an A.A. Dark work.

If you haven't yet been welcomed to Whitlock, you don't know what you're missing.

1.5* rated down.

The author finally used a proofreader. The story is slightly more consistent than the other I read by her, but good grief, what a trainwreck!

She shies away from the nitty-gritty. Like by the way so many of these authors. A lot of hot air leading to nothing.

Of a truly horrific, truly dark story involving the kind of backdrop of this one, I expect detailed accounts of torture, degradation, rape and general harm. Just telling me so isn't doing a thing to me. Again, I can only suggest that any author trying to write "dark" should first read the master of dark erotic content: de Sade.

Hell, if these copycat authors truly read and understood the Captive in the Dark series, they'd finally maybe get what the difference between theirs and that one is. Or maybe watch a bit more Hannibal. Or read some R Lee Smith, who - in Cottonwood - created with one simply dialog sentence more erotic horror, than this entire book.

So, noped out of this series...

Alrighty then!
Let me start by telling you that this was pitch black, just as the warning in the blurb tells you, lol.
This book fucked with my head big time.

This is not one of your run of the mill dark stories. Nope, the end will leave you feeling...incomplete. Even though you know it’s all finished and tidied away.

Even though you know there is no other book to continue this particular story...you’re still waiting for that to happen.
I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about that.

CHARLEE

Charlee is a very beautiful but extremely down on her luck 21-year-old ex-model. She is pretty much alone in the world and has turned to drugs and alcohol to make life bearable, poor girl. She seems to be a kind wee soul but just lost in this huge world without anyone to help her.

She’s pretty much always high or drunk. One ‘morning-after she was pretty out of it and was all over the shop trying to make her way home.
A kind man offered to help her as she was staggering and could barely keep herself upright.

Although she knew it was dangerous, she let him into her house and then...well I can only describe what happens after that as a HUGE mind fuck.

Over the next few weeks, Charlee goes through so much and tries so hard to hold herself together, and I was just like...wtf?

There are hallucinations, drug abuse, rape...she really thinks she’s losing her mind. And to be honest, just reading about it damn near made me have a panic attack!

JOHN

In the name of the wee man! This man is fucked up ten ways from Sunday!
He is just...evil to the core. He’s not just cold and uncaring. He takes an immense amount of pleasure in messing with women’s heads, hearts and bodies.

He’s a ‘scout for a sex trafficking ring and he stumbles upon Charlee one day and takes a special interest in her. Obsession might be a better word.

He plays with her mind something awful and it is so well written you feel like you might also be hallucinating...such a strongly written book!
And the way it ends...I’m not over this yet, lol. Not even close.

SEX SCENES

ALL of the sex in this book is dark. I’m gonny give you a wee taste of it, just to see if you’re up for it, ye ken? Now, don’t say I didn’t warn you!

“I won’t be long, I said, glancing at Seven as I slid my finger into her pussy from behind. When I hit the wall I half expected, my smile grew. Virgin. “I’ll take my prize and let you have your fun. He squeezed her breast, locking his other hand in her hair as he nodded. “Take what you want. You found her. I stretched her channel wide with another finger, and unbuttoned my pants, freeing my cock. “No, no, please. I’m begging you, please! “Keep begging. I like it. I thrust my fingers, using her wetness and what remained of Drew’s blood to pound into her entrance. Screams echoed from the underground holding room, but I didn’t worry about anyone hearing. No one would. It was impossible. The place was not only well guarded, but it was the drop-off point for one of the many secret entrances to the underground highway system leading to Whitlock. “I’d love to stay and play, but I’m afraid I have a date. Withdrawing my fingers, I took the condom from Seven and slid it on so I could fit against her entrance. Shayla’s body went wild, but with mine and Seven’s hold, she was even more trapped than just in the cuffs. Lifting her hips, I plunged my cock into her tight pussy, breaking through the wall marking her virginity. Screams died off as she choked on an intake of air. Coughing only lasted for a second before the shrieks continued again. I didn’t thrust—I didn’t do anything but shut my eyes and tune in to the way her channel spasmed and clutched around my cock in pain.

FINAL THOUGHTS on 27001 by AA Dark

Wow, like I said before this one really messes with your head. And again, it is pitch black. If you are just stepping into the dark/taboo genre this may not be the best one to start with, lol. There was some talk in the story of the Main Master’s slave escaping, and I’ve since then I’ve discovered that theirs is an actual ongoing story so I’m curious to read that one because it seems like one of these cold bastards caught some feelings?
So, yeah. I really enjoyed this book but I’m still getting over it, ye ken?

4 Stars

I was a scout for Whitlock—a killer if I had to be. A deliverer of deranged fantasies and death.

Maaaan, Welcome back to Whitlock, boys and girls. I missed the mountain of monsters, I mean masters. Same difference. I know this can be read as a standalone, it's different characters within the depraved Whitlock dynasty. This one will give you a lick of the lollipop... 24690 was my first, it's like diving head first. So, how do I put this? If you want to see if your stomach can handle Whitlock, start with this one. If you love dark reads and can handle all the twisted, depraved, debauchery, I recommend 24690 first. Either way, you'll love the chase. I promise.

This ride takes you from Whitlock and into the games and chase of the next slave. I gobbled it up, not really wanting it to end, I hope there's another book to follow the story of Scout 14 and Charlee, not that I expect a HEA or anything. LOL I just want to see what lies ahead for the pair. In true AA fashion, the anti-hero is as demented as the last, yet original in his depraved needs/thoughts. A different poison, if you will. Since I'm already sick in the head, I love the fact that the characters carry their own weight and/or originality. With supporting characters from previous books, I was immersed from start to finish. I can't wait to read the next book! Whitlock is pitch black and stirs all the wrong things in my gut. With that. I highly recommend to twisted readers.

Oh wow...I want more now. Take the warnings at heart. This book is not for the faint of heart. If you have triggers then don't read. However if you like really really dark reads then this book is great. Little short but oh the anticipation of what will happen is amazing. Scout 14 draws you in with his games he plays. I loved Charlee and her fight. Felt bad for her throughout the book. Can't wait to see what happens next. And of course we got to see more of Bram and he is still looking for Everleigh.

I loved seeing how a Whitlock scout chooses and takes a new slave. James/John was a twisted, evil man and perfect for the job. He plays wicked mind games with Charlee before abducting her. He finds the underage redhead in the bar with her fake ID. Let's just say he knows what he is doing and does it with satisfaction. I can't wait to read the next one!

A.A. Dark owns pitch black!

27001 by A. A. Dark is part of the Whitlock series however I think it can be read as a standalone. It is thriller, horror and is not for the faint of heart. It has numerous triggers and should not be read by anyone looking for a romantic thriller. There is no romance here. This is an extremely dark novel for 18+ readers.

Charlee’s life is a complete mess. She is an alcoholic, a drug addict and spends her nights with men she doesn’t know. She can’t face what her life, at only 21, has become. She blew her shot at becoming a model, and as a high school dropout, she has very few options. Charlee has no real friends and no longer communicates with her family. Unfortunately, all of these realities make her the perfect target for the man lurking in the shadows.

Scout 14 loves his job at Whitlock. He is the best at what he does. He has found the perfect prospect in Charlee. He spends his days and nights watching her and doing his best to insinuate into her life. She doesn’t know that she is his ‘chosen and that Whitlock is about to become her home.

A.A. Dark, who also writes as Alaska Angelini, is my favorite horror author. I have become entranced by this Whitlock series. Anyone wanting to read this series, should really begin with the book 24690 in order to get the entire story. In 24690, we are introduced to Bram Whitlock, the Main Master of Whitlock and to Everleigh, aka slave 24690. I had the pleasure of revisiting some of their story in this book. Charlee was another wonderful addition to Whitlock and I love the direction this series appears to be heading. A. A. Dark is planning to release another novel about a different slave fairly soon. Slowly, I am getting to know the people that work at Whitlock as well as the slaves living there. This book has caused a wonderful build up for whats to come. I admit it. I am a Whitlock junkie. I am not sure what it says about me, but the darker and more twisted A. A. Dark makes her books, the more I love them. She has coined the phrase ‘pitch black to describe her work and it could not be more accurate. I cannot wait for the next in this series as well as everything else she writes.

I give this book 5 stars. I would recommend this to anyone liking this genre. I won’t miss a single book she publishes.

I am reviewing this book for the North Of Normal Book Reviews blog.

I have a few complaints. first this is a short book and its $2.99. I belong to Kindle Unlimited so I thought I would read it. The second book in this series is also $2.99 and its not on K.U. and again its a short read. I will NOT being reading the second book because I don't think its worth the money. It was ok but nothing riveting enough to keep me going. For me this was a 2.5-3 star read

Not a bad read. Very enjoyable, I thought there would be more of Whitlock (more "Pitch Black"). I enjoyed John/James/Scout 14 and the mind games he played with Charlee (twisted - yes, pitch black - not so much). She had no idea what was coming for her.

Can't wait until the release of "27009".

Deliciously dark and twisted

I don't like shorter books. I like long reads so I can get sucked into different worlds. Somehow, despite being short, this book sucked me right back into the Whitlock world. The writing is just so deliciously dark and good, it's impossible not to lose yourself in this read. This book is not for people who like fairytale endings, but if you're ready to take a headfirst, deep dive into darkness, I highly recommend this book

This was an excellent start to a return to Whitlock series. I absolutely loved 24690 and Whiteout! The only thing I was surprised by, perhaps just a little disappointed, was that so little of the book actually was in Whitlock. But it gave us a great view of how many of the slaves end up there! There was also a good bit of mind f#ckery going on too, just for the fun of it!

I read this in one setting, and wished for more! I'm eagerly looking forward to the next one!!

I loved reading this book, It was dark and twisted and sucked me right back into the world of Whitlock. As well as being a great, mind messing story on its own, if you have read 24690 and White Out already, it gives you futher insight into the workings of Whitlock. I can not wait to see what comes next.

I really enjoyed this quick read. It offered a different look into Whitlock. This time it focused on a girl called charlee, a once model turned alcoholic/drug addict and the scout pursuing her for Whitlock.
The scout, John/James whichever he chose to play really messes with her head but there’s definitely some feelings there which will hopefully progress in the second part.
You get to see some bram and where things currently are following the other series based on bram and everleigh. (Looking forward to the next one!)
Nothing negative to say about the Whitlock series, as usual. They always leave me wanting more, this one no exception.

I thought this would tie more closely to the first two in the series, but this one is from a new perspective, on how they get the slaves they have in Whitlock. It's twisted, it's dark, it's got me screaming for the next installment

Don't do this to me!!

I almost read this before the 24690 books. Luckily I remembered my numbers and grabbed those two first. I am looking forward to more of this series.

I liked that this installment was a quick (yet no less intense) read and the focus was on the process of obtaining a new slave. It started right where White Out ended but the focus wasn't on the Everleigh aftermath.

I really hope we get more of a story on Charlee because she grew on me. I thought 14 was going to change. Part of me wanted him to figure something else out but that would have made me hate him. I'm seriously going to have a hangover from their story. Whatever is coming next will be awesome.

"Welcome to Whitlock"

This is a spinoff series within a series and it is a brilliant idea. 24690 and White-Out are the start and I really advise you to read them first just so you get the full knowledge of how Bram and Whitlock work.

This could be a fantastic prelude for the Whitlock series as a whole. I love the inner thoughts of John/James/Scout 14. The inner turmoil in which he faces within himself is great to read because we get to see snippets into the way he could see his life going but with the reality of it, it is what he seems to crave the most.

Charlee is an alcoholic, druggie and down on her luck but after a brief "planned" meeting with James she decides her life is worth turning around.

A lot of mind f***kery takes place in this game of cat and mouse and only the smartest will win.

For me the only disappointment was that there was not a lot of 'pitch black' forwhich A. A. Dark is so well known for but I guess not every book can be so bloody and brutal.
We are given a great insight to the inner workings of finding slaves for Whitlock and A. A. Dark certainly has done a fantastic job in bringing her dark and disturbing words to us. Of course I cannot get enough of Bram and Everleigh's story so I will take whatever snippets are thrown my way.
All I can say now is BRING ON THE NEXT SLAVE.........
