Uh, Ok !! This book is not a regular thriller book if you accept it to be. It brings out the reality of crimes and the minds behind them. This book is plain and simple with very few suspense in it. It鈥檚 sort of a documentary kind of book where the writer tells us about how the crimes happens and how in actual world it is solved and what are the difficulties faced by the police to get the criminals convicted in front of laws. Some brutal and disturbing stories awaits you in this book.
Robert Louis Stevenson 唳忇Π 唳忇唳熰 唳曕Ε唳 唳唳む 唳夃唰 唳忇Ω唰囙唰- "I've seen wicked men and fool, a great many of both, I believe they both get paid in the end; but fools first."
Book is a Page turner. It chronicles 12 murder cases starting from 1933 to 2007 happened in the city Kolkata erstwhile Calcutta and solved by Calcutta police.
In the starting itself The author has categorically stated that its not a detective novel of whodunnit and lacks that adrenaline which comes while reading detective crime fiction. Rightly so the killer is told in the starting of every story and then most of the pages are dedicated to the investigation and the chargesheet filed after the killer is nabbed.
Some of the cases can be googled also specially the later ones. though after reading such cases and their high court judgements in kanoon.org, it seems that Mr Sarkar has taken some liberty in narrating the cases specially the Luthia's murder case just to entice more excitement in the viewers which in a way make it non-fictional opposite to what the writer has stated in the starting hence giving only 4 stars. Other than this shortcoming book is really unputdownable. Shortly be starting his second book. Hope it will also be as good as this one.
